Central Air Conditioner and Air-Source Heat Pump Specification
The Star specifications for central air conditioners and air source heat pumps are currently being revisited. Materials related to the revision process are provided below. Partners and other interested parties who have questions or comments about these materials are encouraged to contact Rachel Schmeltz, EPA, at schmeltz.rachel@epa.gov. This Web page will be updated periodically as new information is received. On a related note, the EER requirement in the Star specification was reinstated effective August 5, 2004. The Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute (ARI), with funding from the Consortium for Energy Efficiency (CEE) and its members, is hosting a national database that allows consumers to identify products that meet the current Star specification as well as other levels of efficiency. To help understand how to use this online database, we have created a quick guide (118KB) to help you with the various fields used in this online database. Search CEE-ARI Online Database .
