  • Great recipes
    Well, I didn't "Laugh or Cry" like my friend Dinah did and considering her and I are two of the four success stories in the book - you might think we are bias - but George Stella's recipes are great! I particularly like the success stories in any "diet" type book or cookbook - not because I'm one - I swear! but I love reading them - and I wish there were more. I'm not a make my own ketchup type of person - considering I have two children, a house, school and trying to start up a business - but most of the recipes I will make and I'm sure I'll get great reviews. Buy his first book too - it's well worth the investment - even if you don't low carb - his meatloaf recipe is the best ever - it's very hard to make good meatloaf and this one is great. The Stellas are warm, genuine people and yes, maybe George is a low carb genuis :-). I would like to add one more thing - the desserts are great for OCCASIONAL treats like once a month when you are trying to reach goal - (have them more when you are on maintenance) but lots of people trying to lose weight - make the desserts and eat to abandon thinking it's low carb you can eat to your heart's content - you can't. Calories are calories - so a word to the wise - eat the meat, veggies, salads and occasional treat, drink your water and exercise - and you will be at goal in no time. I've lost 126 pounds in less than a year - and this lifestyle works. I feel great and much of the credit goes to Stellastyle.

    i first saw george stella on food network--he is amazing--great to watch makes everything interesting and couldn't wait to get cooking in my own kitchen.

    this book is very nicely put together--he explains how it worked for him and his family, the hard and easy parts and was really someone you could relate to. it doesn't have all the crazy body/chemical reaction--crazy concoctions that you have to send away for-- not schedules when to eat this and drink this--great

    a cookbook you can live with and it is fun making my own favorite meals and making them low-carb--seriously if you can make pancakes and dessert low carb--you can make anything low carb just takes your imagination and george stella's down to earth book

    I have over 200 cookbooks and not one is more inventive than this one. The stories in it are both heartbreaking and inspiring at the same time. Great read, great resource.     This cookbook is a great companion to the first cookbook!!! Sweets,snacks,desserts,sauces,meats,etc.
    They are all wonderful!!!
    The breadless bread pudding,cinnamon crisps,blueberry pancakes (you dont have to have the blueberries to make them) Oh I could go on and on. I really think that having both of the cookbooks opens a whole new world. We dont go out to eat anymore we have our own restraunt right at home.     *THE* best cookbook I own and I own tons! I have celiac disease. I absolutely must follow a gluten free diet which means I cannot have the gluten found in wheat, rye and barley. I also cannot have anything derived from these grains which, in the "normal" American diet, means I cannot have a lot of things and eating in restaurants is almost a nightmare. With this cookbook, by George, he has it! Every recipe, but one, is gluten free and that one recipe can easily be made gluten free by substituting the wheat bran with any other GF flour as the wheat bran is only used to "flour" the pan. I absolutely cannot sing the praises for this cookbook long enough or high enough. Everyone should own a copy of this book - gluten free, low carb, reduced carb, low calorie or not!   • I LOVE this cookbook!!
    This is the second of George Stella's cookbooks - and it is just as good as the first! His recipes are incredible. Most low carb cookbooks contain recipes that taste like low carb fare - healthy for this lifestyle, but not a lot of taste. This cookbook is different. The recipes taste just as good if not better than any restaurant fare. In fact, my parents, who are not following low carb, bought the cookbook becuase they enjoyed the meals I made for them so much, that they wanted their own copy. I highly recommend both of George Stella's cookbooks. His recipes are quickly becoming my favorites! Hope he comes out with another cookbook - and soon!!!!...more info

    This is a great recipe book. The recipes are easy to use with ingredients that you can find at your local store. I now have both of George Stella's recipe books and they are my favorites. Because the recipes are so simple I have found that I sometimes will experiment and change a recipe slightly with great results. I definitely recommend this book to anyone that is serious about going low-carb or anyone that would just like to try it out.

    after exhausting every recipe in the south beach diet cookbooks, i needed some new ideas. this book is great. it has unique ingredients and cooking methods. i am super glad i bought this book. in addition to this book, i also bought low-carb 1-2-3. where the stella style cookbook uses many ingredients and the prep-time can take a while, the 1-2-3 recipes are quick and easy for when i dont have time. however, i NEEDED both. stella style gives my taste buds the flavor and excitement i need and low-carb 1-2-3 gives me those quick recipes when i don't have much time or items in the fridge....more info

  • Finally! Cookbooks I actually "use"!
    My husband and I love the recipes in George's first book, so I knew we'd love these too. I've only had the book one week and have already made several recipes. The Mojo Pork - I've tried about 5 recipes in the past trying to get this right. I've always been disappointed, until I made George's recipe.

    I love the fact that these are "down to earth" ingredients. None of the fancy, 'only available online' items. That means a lot to me. And these are recipes that I'll actually fix.

    I really enjoy cooking & baking - but we're not into gourmet type foods. These recipes really fit the bill for us. Thank you George!...more info

    I'm a real Stella fan as you can read by my review of his first book. Either one will give you the basics to shed the pounds and keep them off with sensible low-carb life, not counting, but shopping wise and cooking really good food that'll work.

    Again, my fascination and usage of George's books are especially for breakfast and lunch and snacks, for these and maybe you are the toughest for this reviewer to keep it creative and healthy. This collection is like his first, just outstanding. You'll enjoy such as: Riviera Omelet (with prochiutto or Parma; Southwestern Breakfast Bites; Cinanamon Toast Pancakes!!!!; Chirstian's Banana Bread Muffins; Uncle Al's Sausage and Peppers Casserole; Kim's Stuffed Chicken Breasts with Lemony White Wine Sauce; Thai Scallop and Prawn Stir-Fry; Roasted Pecan and Herb-Crusted Salmon; Forzen Custard Ice Cream.

    Did I mention great Entrees and Desserts as well! Each recipe is not only given the needful nutrition breakouts and good instructions, but each further has "Make It Memorable" and "Healthful Hint" sections. These are really neat, as it has other menu recipe ideas and differences with those on rapid diet descent.

    With some nice color photos and all the aids you'll need to keep on low-carb track, this is nice resource for our culinary time....more info

    I am not a cook. I don't know how to throw a meal together for a family, since I am single. But this is a great book for people who are tired of eating the same old thing with the Atkins diet.     I bought both of these books and really hoped they would be good. I saw him the day before on TV. Well the books came and I should have returned them because the ingredients are not realisitic. These are not things that I would ever have on hand. All of the recipes are strange, I doubt I will ever cook one thing from them....more info

  • "must have" cookbook, low carb or not
    This cookbook is a must have whether you are low carbing it or not. It contains such a wide variety of recipes, not the same old low carb you've seen a hundred times. There are no weird ingredients and George's tips are wonderful. I was highly skeptical of the almond flour, but I tried it in the pumpkin muffins and they are terrific. My 12 year old son had no idea they were low carb! I also recommend the pork souvlaki with tzatziki sauce. It's so good!...more info
  • This is one of the best low-carb cookbooks I own!
    I don't find the ingredients in this strange; they are pretty much standard for anyone eating a low-carb and/or gluten free diet. The first cookbook used soy flour for baking, while this one uses almond flour. Besides the sugar substitute and flavor extracts, there are very few ingredients that would not be used by people not eating low-carb. The recipes in this book are great tasting and easy to make. The first cookbook is also recommended. Everything I have made from this book has turned out really well. I especially like the ideas for substitutions and menu planning. This is definitely one of my favorite cookbooks; it is a great value for the price, and the pictures are very inspiring! ...more info

    For me, a Cuban who loves rice in any way shape or form his Cauliflower Rice Pilaf has been a great hit. Based on this recipe I have made Paella, Rice with Chicken and my very own Fried Rice (the same way I used to make it before going low-carb). His Hash Brown recipe is out of this world. Had it this weekend with eggs and did not missed the real hash brown at all. I still have to try a lot of his new recipes, but I can tell you that you should buy this book. Simple ingredients that are easy to find, simple recipes that are easy to make, makes this book and his previous book a must in every kitchen. Congratulations George, for such a great book.

  • Not for prego's!
    This book had raving reviews so I bought it as a gift for my sister who is pregnant and has gestational diabetes. To avoid taking insulin she's had to go low-carb but it's getting monotinous. Hence, the loving sister ordered her a cookbook because she loves to cook. After I received it and looked through it I was surprised at the number of recipes that called for "Sugar substitute - recommended: Splenda." Yikes! THE SUGAR SUBSTITUTE/SPLENDA RECIPES ARE MOSTLY IN THE DESSERT SECTION. Splenda is an artificial chemical sweetner which contains chlorine (a carcinogen) and a host of other chemicals. Although it has been approved by the FDA as safe (in short term studies only.) After reading George's response to my comments I think there are less recipes than I though calling for a sugar substitute (about 20%) and if he's right (which he should be) they are mostly in the dessert section. So this low-carb cookbook is mostly good for prego's if you ignore the dessert section. Just know in advance what you're getting!...more info

    George has done it again. He has combined a wonderful short story about his life and family, and a great cookbook.

    I highly recomend this cookbook to anyone who is diabetic, or wanting to lose weight.

    This is my favorite low carb recipe book yet. His Pumpkin Pound Cake was delicious and helped us to get through the Christmas temptation season. The Tiramisu was eaten by many adults not low carbing it and they loved it...Most was gone by the time we went home....more info

    I purchased both of George Stella's low-carb cook books and may I say WOW! I don't like to make recipes if the list of ingredients are excessive. I've tried (and modified) a few recipes in this book and they are some of the best low-carb recipes I've ever had.     I have been eating low carb for seven years. As a fibromyalgic with diabetes, I was a very sick woman seven years ago. A low carb diet and the treatment I'm using for fibromyalgia (Dr. Paul St. Amand's guaifenesin protocol as outlined in What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Fibromyalgia)have together saved the quality of my life. It's hard to find good low carb cookbooks with recipes that are easy to prepare and easy to find ingredients. Both George Stella's cookbooks are right on the mark. I highly recommend them.
