Great Resource! The Calorie Counter is a great resource! The smaller size makes it very convenient too! I keep mine in my bag so that I can use it even while I'm out - at work, happy hour, wherever! Easy to Use This book is easy to use. The only limitation is that it doesn't have everything in it that you might eat. In the beginning it says some things are not included because you shouldn't be eating them. Overall, it completely serves my needs. I have been able to implement a diet journal and use this book daily to get calories, protein, and carb information for the fresh food items that are not sold with a label. I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to track what they eat. Furthermore, if the individual is trying to follow the Biggest Loser Diet, then this companion book will really help accomplish that. Biggest Loser Complete Calorie Counter Good reference source. Very helpful. Could use more restaurant and fast food calorie counting. Although cooking and eating at home is better while taking off weight;there are times when fast food becomes the choice.All regions of the country do not have the same food items on their menus.I take the book to the grocery store and look up information while shopping.It becomes a challenge shopping for food for people with special medical and health issues....more info

Calorie counter book I really did not care for the book because it does not have a lot of the fast food places in there like for instance. no cracker barrel,no applebees,but it had a lot of resturants that I have never heard of.
So as far as the fast food places I don't even use it for that .
And as far as the calorie counter for other foods its just ok. Its says something different than the net does about how many calories are in certain foods so now I don't which one is correct??

The loser is the one who buys this book! Several things make this "guide" unsatisfactory.
First, they use such a small type that it is impossible for anyone over 40 to read it without glasses.
Next there are the "creative categories"...I kind of expect milk products to be under "dairy"...not under "beverages".
Then there is the inconsistency of their measurements of a serving size. For cottage cheese, the chart ranges from 4 oz to 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup...now we get to "do the math".
Their "Dining Out" consists of all the Fast Food restaurants on the planet...with only PF Chang as a restaurant that I might find helpful.
Do yourself a favor...buy a different book....more info

Buy The Calorie King instead! This product does not even begin to compare to the Calorie King guide. I purchased the Calorie King calorie guide a few months ago on Amazon. My husband decided to start counting calories and asked me to order him a calorie guide. I was excited when I found The Biggest Loser Calorie guide. We are big fans of The Biggest Loser television show. We were both very dissapointed. First of all, it is very plain(black & white). It had very limited info on restaurant foods. Only healthy items like chicken or fish were listed. When I go on a diet I like to have more of a selection than chicken or fish. Calorie King is a much better guide for about the same price. The resturant section has most of the major chains & their menu items on it. The book is colorful and has helpful information on dieting. I am ordering another Calorie King for my husband. Don't waste your money on this! ...more info

awesome book This is a great book with alot of tips for you to learn about what you can and cant have to eat.The book is small enough to carry in your purse and take where ever you go.I would recommend that you purchase this book.It teaches you to learn about your calorie intake, and once you read this you realize how much you have been taking in and that is amazing itself.Once you have this book you will realize why you bought it....more info
Good calorie book... But, not the best. I love all of The Biggest Loser's books and DVDs, but this calorie book, while good, isn't the best one. The Calorie King is the one you need for your purse or home if you can only get just one. If you can pick up more than one, this one is a great companion. ...more info
This may work for you I ordered this book for a co-worker, she didn't find this book useful. If you are watching calories this book may be for you, it lists most anything you can think of. Co-worker also said for around $7.00 she would have spent that easily on something else. One of my friends is interested and is going to buy this book from her....more info
difficult to locate food items This book is difficult to search for the foods items and it seems to list only the foods that a person should be eating on a healthy diet. So if you use a food journal and you cheat or indulge a food craving, it's complicate to track the carbs, fats, proteins, etc, using this book. My doctor advised that recording what you eat helps with weight loss and it does seem to help, but I'm going to search for another calorie counter book to aid me. ...more info

-how to keep a food journal
-how to read labels
-a section where the Biggest Losers from the show share their favorite foods in various categories such as "their top 20 low cal foods", "their top 20 evening snacks", or "their top 20 low cal desserts."
Then comes the part you likely got the book for: the calorie counter. HOWEVER, this is not simply a book that gives you ONLY the amount of calories in a food item, no, The Biggest Loser Calorie Counter: The Quick and Easy Guide to Thousands of Foods from Grocery Stores and Popular Restaurants--As Seen on NBC's Hit Show! also gives you the amount of protein, carbs, fiber, sugar, fat, saturated fat, and sodium (which is really good for those with heart or blood pressure issues) in a food item. Know too that in this particular calorie counter, food items are arranged in alphabetical order by "groups" such as "beverages" "desserts" or "pasta".
The book ends with a "dining out" section, which is where you can find info on foods in your favorite restaurants- well, maybe not ALL your favorite restaurants, but a lot of them. Also need to mention that the book can fit in an average-sized purse so you can take it along when eating out (if you're a guy, you'll just have to tote it around).

Great Calorie Counter I bought this calorie counter along with all the Biggest Loser books when I planned on doing this diet. However, I find myself using this book all the time now even though I do not follow the Biggest Loser plan. I eat healthy and restricted calories and this book has been a great help in writing down all of the content in the foods that I have been eating. Once you get use to the setup of the book (it is setup in food groups and not alphabetically), it will be a very useful book to have! ...more info
Great book to get you going on the road to health. This book is a great way to monitor your calorie intake for the day. It is very comprehensive. Someone mentioned below that it doesn't include complete menus from fast food chains. The book says that it omits items that are so unhealthy you shouldn't even bother. As to the restaurants that are omitted completely this probably means they are so bad that nothing qualifies as healthy. ...more info
Incomplete This book has many great tips and is geared more for the types of foods you "should be" eating. I might recommend going through the book to see what would be a good choice rather than looking for a food you like.
I found that a lot of foods I wanted to find are not even listed. The fast food section is very limited. I think the intention may be to only eat what is less than 600 calories? McDonalds isn't even in the book and some things I wanted info on at other places are not listed. Trying to find certain foods could take quite a long time because the organization is not very good.
The other thing I had a hard time with is portion size on some items. I want to know how many calories per ounce of some things, but they were only listed as per cup or some other strange serving size.
I enjoy the show and bought the book for that reason. I don't think I would recommend this book for its calorie counter portion, but the advice in the beginning of the book is worth it. Still, I think you can get this info online and save the money you'd spend on the book....more info
