Pressure cookers have experienced renewed popularity over the last several years because cooks have rediscovered what some cooks (particularly grandmas) have known for a long time--they're really fast. And it's easy to cook healthfully with pressure cookers, since the food retains so much more of its nutrients and flavor. Presto's 4-quart stainless steel pressure cooker is a multi-purpose pot that can stand in as a conventional saucepan as well as perform the kitchen magic that pressure cookers are famous for. Chicken Cacciatore cooks in 8 minutes! This professional-quality stainless steel pressure cooker is a handy addition to any well-rounded set of kitchen tools.
The heavy-duty lid locks down during cooking; an inner sealing ring keeps the steam in. In addition to a pop-up pressure indicator and a simple steam release mechanism, there is an overpressure plug that will let off steam if it builds up excessively. This pressure cooker is useful for weeknight dinners or for any meal that needs to come together quickly. An accompanying booklet contains more than 65 recipes, ranging from basic soup stocks to stews and pot roasts--even desserts like 5-minute custards! Tenderize lean cuts of beef or pork; or cook chicken, fish, or vegetables faster than you can in a microwave, and without losing moisture.
Nonabrasive cleansers are best for cleaning this stainless steel pressure cooker, though occasional use of a fine metal polish will help the exterior keep its shine. The Presto 4-quart pressure cooker is fully immersible; in addition, the sealing ring should be removed after each use to allow cleaning of the inside rim of the lid. The vent pipe is simple to keep clean with a small brush or pipe cleaner, and both the air vent/cover lock and the overpressure plug are removable. The pressure cooker measures 9 inches in diameter (16-1/2 inches including handles) and 6-1/2 inches tall (including lid). Presto guarantees this pressure cooker with an extended 12-year warranty. A detailed instruction and recipe booklet is included; special safety issues that pertain to pressure cookers are clearly explained. --Garland Withers

- Great cooking utility...
My only regret is that I didn't buy one of these sooner. This is a great product. I had heard horror stories about pressure cookers in the past, but these Presto pressure cookers are solid; very well made, and if you follow the directions by watching what you put into it- no jams or anything that would clog the spout, you will love this product.. Never any worries about safety when cooking with this. I think I will get the 6-quart next, as it would be a more useful size for me. ...more info

- presto 4 qt stainless steel pressure cooker
I have a 6 qt pressure cooker that I use often. The 4 qt cooker is a great added pot for the kitchen. I use it as a regular pot more than I use the pressure cooker feature. Either way I feel it is a must have for any kitchen....more info
- Super speedy dinner
My Mom always told me horror stories about pressure cooker, but I really wanted one after listening to my friend's successful experience with it. I got this 4-quart one several weeks ago, and I am super happy with it!! I have been pulling an entire beef top round and pork shoulder straight out of FREEZER to cook in pressure cooker, and I was able to serve dinner in an hour. It's perfect for a poor planner like me.
I did read the manual over and over to make sure it is safe, and yes, it is safe!...more info
- Very good quality pressure cooker
I went to various stores to buy a pressure cooker but the one I bought finally from Amazon is the best with very good price and free shipping. I use this to cook vegetable, rice almost everyday. It takes me 5-7 minutes to cook anything and I eat fresh food everyday. This is a awesome product with enough safety....more info
- Cooking under pressure
This pressure cooker is perfect for anyone cooking for one or two people (get a larger size if you tend to prepare larger volumes of food). Anything can be cooked in it, no need to worry about acidic ingredients as you would in an aluminum pot. It is great for cooking potatoes for mashing, makes a tender beef stew, pea soup, and chicken cacciatore. Although cooking time is cut significantly, pressure cookers are not the best way to cook tender vegetables. There is an additional safety feature not present on the older Presto models, which prevents the pressure cooker from being opened before the internal pressure is equal to the external pressure....more info
- Excellent cookware for two people plus!
I've had 6 qt & 8 qt aluminum cookers since 1980 this one is my 7th pressure cooker, 4 qt presto and its stainless I love it, this is an awesome product with enough safety.
I just got second 4 qt presto as gift for friend & a young couple for there "house warm party"
I am planning to replace 6 qt aluminum cooker with 6 qt stainless pressure cooker in future.
Would certainly recommend this!
Thanks Amazon for keeping your prices competitive, and that Free Shipping is GREAT!!!
- Hurry up & cook
My old MirroMatic pressure cooker was over 40 years old & I decided it was time for a replacement. Instead of the old all aluminum pan I decided to get the stainless steel pan for ease of cleaning. What a difference! The aluminum core on the bottom provides the even heating, & the stainless steel makes for the easiest of cleaning. I really enjoy the rocker weight on top instead of my old weight with 3 different pressure settings. This one is so much quieter, too. Tonight, I'm making Swiss steak with only 18 minutes of cook time. You can't beat that. The cool down time is much faster than with the old aluminum pan also. I should have bought this years ago. ...more info
- Comes without steaming basket!
This cooker comes with a canning rack that stands 3/8" from the bottom of the pot. The stainless steamer baskets have to be ordered separately from Presto (for a fair price) though its an inconvience if you had planned to steam food; you could "part boil" it for now. You can also order from the accessory list that comes with it; a video, cookbbook, additional steamer baskets for multiple meal cooking, glass lid to use it as a pot, and a couple of other items. I purchased this cooker because it is made of stainless to avoid food contamination from aluminum, but the bottom of the pot (outside, underneatth)is aluminum clad and its exposed. I gave it four stars because it does not come with a steamer basket and the exposed aluminum on the underside; which doesn't present a problem if you don't scrub it and contaminate your dish rag and dish water. ...more info
- Very Good Cooker
For all those intending to use a pressure cooker, this is a very good choice. I am a first time buyer of this cooker.

- I Love My Stainless Steel Pressure Cooker
My new Presto Stainless Steel Pressure Cooker allows me to purchase cheaper cuts of meats without sacrificing taste. In particular, some steaks which require more time than I have in order to assure tenderness. I am thorougly enjoying preparing soups and stews and getting rave reviews from my family. My first experience with a pressure cooker was in 1950 so I have been a user for most of my adult life. This stainless steel model is the best yet and the 4-Quart size suits me to a T. I must also mention that I prepare large amounts of mashed potatoes in a fraction of the time it would take without my Presto. Thanks for providing a safe, first-rate product.Presto 4-Quart Stainless Steel Pressure Cooker...more info

- Pressure Cooker
This 4-quart cooker heats up and cools down much faster than it's 8-quart big brother. It's also easier to clean up because it's not so heavy. The bottom is very flat and it sits well on my glass top stove. The cooking rack is stainless steel too. I like my 25 year old cook book better because it has more recipes. Use a paper towel to wipe a thin layer of cooking oil on the top of the pan where it meets the gasket the first 2 or 3 times you cook with it. That will prolong the gasket life and make it easier to open and close the lid. Pressure cooking is the best fast food you'll ever eat. I looked at all the new style pressure cookers but the pressure regulators were all too complex which just invites problems. Simple is better. I've been cooking with Presto pressure cookers for 42 years. My first one was a hand-me-down from Grandma and I replaced it because it was aluminum. I still use my 40 year old 8-quart stainless cooker when we have a lot to cook. ...more info

Great Cooker..The only big difference, it don't whistle as Indian cookers, you have to keep a track of time as compare to number of cooker whistles.
- A Terrific Pressure Cooker!
The Presto pressure cooker is wonderful--works like a charm. I have had Mirromatic pressure cookers all my life, but now I have found the Presto is better. I especially like the fact that it is stainless steel and not aluminum....more info

- Great Product
I have had a 4 quart Presto cooker for 45 years but it was made out of aluminum. I wanted stainless steel. For so long, all the stainless steel was so thin that everything stuck and they warped. This one has a nice heavy plate on the bottom to make it heat more evenly and it cooks very fast. I am so pleased with it that I am thinking of ordering a 6 qt. cooker. We live at almost 8000' elevation. Years past, we had a sheep ranch and lived at much higher elevations in the summer. Most of our sheepherders had a presto cooker to save time in camp cooking....more info
- Very useful cooker, it serves its' purpose well
This 4Q pressure cooker is just nice for a small family. Pressure builds up quickly and food is ready to be served in a short time. This cooker is made of stainless steel and it is very heavy duty. I strongly recommend this pressure cooker to those who have busy schedule yet want to have home-cooked meals....more info
- Nice pressure cooker
I wanted a small (2 quart) pressure cooker, but they were very expensive and cost well over $100! Therefore, I decided to buy this reasonably priced Presto pressure cooker although it was 4 quart in capacity. It is little heavier and larger for me, but it serves the purpose well. It is well built and made of stainless steel, and I am happy with it. I bought this for $43 from Amazon....more info
- Quick Cooking
This is a real time saver for me. Size is a little big but performance is excellent. Would recommend with no hesitation....more info
- Not good for brown rice
Well, it's a great price for a pressure cooker, but if you want to pressure cook rice or beans/legumes, this is not a good choice. The manual specifically states that you shouldn't cook those -- basically you shouldn't cook anything that might foam up and clog the pressure vent -- unless you use a foil-covered bowl inside the pressure cooker. Needless to say, that is a pain in several ways, and it severely reduces the volume you can cook. Plus the real deal-killer for me is that after trying it that way many times, brown rice *never* came out right.
So if you plan to cook a lot of grains and beans, I suggest you spend more and get a Fagor or Kuhn Rikon. If not, I'm sure the many positive reviews here will confirm that this cooker works fine for meat and veggies....more info
- Way beyond expectation!!!
I couldn't believe it even cooks some traditional asian meal in less than 35 minutes (10 min heating + 15 minutes cooking + 10 minutes cooling) which normally takes me 2-3 hours and tastes so fantastic.
I never know pressure cooking could be so easy, quick and so much fun. I am experimenting with different recipes almost every day.
Definitely recommend to anyone who is thinking of trying it....more info
- Beauty & Function in a name you can trust!
I just received my 4-qt stainless cooker, and couldnt be more pleased. My mother and grandmothers all usded Presto pressure cookers, so I grew up knowing their products really stand the test of time. My mother in law also had several Presto cookers that she used frequently. However the STAINLESS STEEL cookers are far superior to the aluminum cookers of yesteryear. Well worth the extra money. With the thick bottom plate, it wont warp, and the heat is more evenly distributed. I have been a fan of pressure cooking for many years, but as my household shrank, I found the need for one smaller than my 8-qt for everyday use. This is perfect, and very attractive too. I look forward to years of reliable service....more info
- Browning beef/brown rice cooking
If beef is not browned before cooking, what is the harm?
Why no brown rice cooking basket included with the 01341? I had to track down a 6" pyrex bowl at WalMart, nothing else was suitable. One cup rice comes out best ever but so fills the bowl there's little room left for including beef or lentils with the rice. 1/4 cup lentils/1 cup rice almost overflows the bowl, PRESTO should supply a larger capacity basket so I don't waste time cooking rice, lentils and beef separately.
The owner's manual suggests covering the bowl with aluminum foil. I am leery of having aluminum in contact with food at pressure cooking temps. ...more info

- My Wife Finally Bought A New Pressure Cooker
After using her old Presto for 25+ years, part of the pressure release mechanism broke. Thanks God!!! She had found a couple of Prestos on line, and asked me to order one for her. I asked if she had checked Amazon and she admitted that she hadn't. I told her to wait a minute and let me do a little checking. At Amazon I found the same pressure cooker for about $10 less, and it included Free Shipping. I ordered it on a Sunday and it was delivere by Wednesday. She really liked the looks of it, and when she tried it for the first time, she found out that she didn't need to cook things as long as with her "antique" Presto.
She showed it to her mother and five minutes later I was ordering another one for her. It's a pleasure to have TWO happy females around, especially when I get the credit!! Thanks Amazon for keeping your prices competitive, and that Free Shipping is GREAT!! -- Ken Fisher

- The best pressure cooker on the market
I have been using Presto Pressure Cookers for the past 35+ years, they are simply the best on the market, and I have had other brands, those other brands ended up at my yard sale, the Presto Pressure Cooker is the best! always reliable, and I have never had to replace the gasket, that is saying something to the quality of the product, which by the was has been on the market for longer than I have been alive, and thats a long long time, so why bother with the rest when you can have the best, and at a great price, give it a try, you will be delighted with all you can make and the time saved cooking this way, especially cheaper cuts of meat,I can't say enough good things about this pressure cooker!...more info

Presto 4-qt. Stainless Steel Pressure Cooker
So long; Happy Holidays!
- disapointing cooker
This didn't turn out to be the top quality product I expected from Presto.
The cooker is light, not much heavier in fact than a old copper bottom Revere Ware pan. This results in two problems-
1. Hot spots. The bottom simply isn't heavy enough to spread heat well.
2. Difficulty putting lid on the hot cooker. If you use the cooker to sear meat, for example, you have to let it cool down before the lid will go on and seal. I assume that because of the light construction the pan distorts enough when hot to cause this problem. Presto addresses this in the instructions by advising the user to try forcing the lid on with one hand on the front side of the lid and the other on the handle. Alternately they recommend letting the cooker cool before putting the lid on. Given that pressure cookers are designed to save time and energy this cooling step makes no sense.
The one recipe I tried from the included booklet (apple crisp) included a mistake in the amount of water resulting in apple soup. Come on Presto, this isn't your first recipe book.
Lastly, Presto, the grand old American name in pressure cooking is now made in China....more info
- 4 Quart Stainless Steel Pressure Cooker
With the price of processed food rising, it is often best to get back to basics. The pressure cooker allows cooking both tough meats and (soaked) beans in a fraction of usual times, so we find it both fast and nutrious to use. Presto cookers seem to be among the best to use, and we use our often because they are reliable and no more trouble than any ordinary pot. In fact, we'd be limited without ours....more info
- A must utensil in every kitchen
Every family have to have this Presto cooker. I can cook any hard dry beans, chicken curry, rice etc. in this cooker in no time.
Many ONE POT MEALS I have cooked in this Pressure Cooker. It is really time saving and food cooked in it taste better because we do not loose nutrients.
My daughter being a busy college student, loves this Pressure cooker, because it saves lots of her cooking time.
- Heavy duty, love this pressure cooker
I own three pressure cookers, I reach for this one the most. I use the bowl within the pot method to cook brown rice (I am too lazy to clean, this allows storage of the rice directly into the fridge.) After cooking brown rice in a pressure cooker, don't know how people have the time to wait around for a rice cooker. I like the audible rocking noise it makes, this way I know pressure is being maintained when I cook. I make mostly beans and brown rice, I cook for one and the bowl method allows me to have rice all week (using the 4qt Presto) I like this one best out of all three, because it seems not to clog like the others....more info

- Why would anyone cook w/o one?
This is probably my 6th Presto Stainless Steel pressure cooker. I have given some to my adult children. It is the single most important cooking device in my kitchen (whole chicken in 30 mins, mashed potatoes in 20 mins, beef stew in 30 mins, corn on the cob in 15 mins, and the list goes on and on). Sometimes visitors see us using the pressure cooker and express concern about safety. But Presto designs them completely foolproof. There is no concern over it exploding, since it has an emergency pressure release (which in using these for over 30 years, has never happened). They are completely safe and SO incredibly useful. Once you get one, you will never do without it....more info
