Product Description

Imported from China, our Golden Gate Ficus have been meticulously trained for wonderful truck movement. The Chinese have hand-wired every tree to create the trunks' beautiful swirl. The small dark green leaves make the Golden Ficus perfectly suited for bonsai. In the ficus family, this variety is the best for growing indoors.

  Remarkably, the plant arrived in excellent condition, solidly packed, and healthy. It has thrived in limited light and with a cavalier attitude towards watering. The care instructions recommended using an overflow bowl to retain water, but none was included with the product, and I couldn't locate one that was compatable with the attractive pot in which it was planted.   this tree arrived VERY quickly (in 3 days). it was very well packed, only one little leaf fell off during shipping; the soil was still moist when i received it. we've had it for 3 weeks now and it's doing well (we've never been able to keep a plant alive for more than a few months, so we're keeping our fingers crossed). you'll definitely need to buy a little tray for underneath the tree.
  the only reason i gave it 4 stars is...i'd like to see slightly better "care instructions".

• Bonsai-Ficus
  My husband bought me this for our anniversary and I love it. I'm not the best of green thumbs and I did overwater it for a while, which caused the leaves to turn yellow and fall off. • Ficus Bonsai Tree
  I both this as a Birthday gift. He was so excited to get it. The last time I spoke with him he said it had new leaves sprouting. It was in great condition when received....more info
• Not bad, not great, but not bad.
  This is the first time I've ordered from Brussel's and I have to say I'm a little leary about ordering from them again. My experience wasn't all bad. The tree was cheap and came promptly. Also it appears to be quite healthy and was well packed. However, while this might be a good starter tree for someone just learning how to keep a bonsai alive, it isn't a good option for someone who is a more developed bonsai enthusiast.
  
  First the tree I got is somewhat mishapen. The trunk is poorly proportioned (being thick on the bottom and the top and narrow in the center). It is also twisted in an rather unaethestically pleasing manner and has terrible wiring scars. Also when it arrived it was a little hacked up. It seemed that someone might have tried to prune it blindfolded.
  
  Indeed, the tree is so ugly that next spring I might just cut off the top third of the tree I received try to get it to root and discard the rest.
  
  If you're in for a big project and want to start a new tree for cheap, this is definitely an option. Howevever, one shouldn't expect to get a tree that's ready to grow into a prize winning bonsai without a whole heap of TLC for less than $30....more info
• Cute and Sturdy
  I received two of these little trees as a birthday gift. Because I wasn't expecting them and because the UPS guy failed to leave a proper notice on my door, the poor things sat in the box for an extra three days until the security guard in my building informed me I had a delivery.   One of my girls bought me one of these for my birthday. She said it was a symbol of her love. I gotta say, it's cute, and it lives a lot longer than flowers and is lots easier to take care of than a new puppy. It's a great little tree, one I enjoy everyday. Beats roses, hands down....more info

  I bought this plant in may and it did great until winter when it died but that was my fault because i forgot to water it a couple of weeks. opened the box and was impressed at how green it was. it was in great shape from day one. buy it its beautiful...more info

  Within a week of purchasing the tree, it died. I had put it oustside in a shady area where it could get partial sun, and I watered it every other day. However within a week, all the leaves were brown and fell off....more info
• Pleasantly surprised. Still alive and looking great!
  I didn't really expect this tree to last long. I gave it to my boyfriend as a gift because he wanted to try his hand at his first bonsai tree. I figured he'd have it for a little while, have some fun with it, and then it would die. No big deal since it wasn't very expensive. Luckily, I've been pleasantly surprised. He's had the tree for over 3 months now and it's looking great. He definitely takes care of it (waters it regularly, trims it, and turns it so it gets even sun) but he doesn't put a lot of time into it. It's very low maintenance and looks great. I'm thinking about getting one for myself. It came very well packaged. The tree had a good shape to it when it arrived and was healthy. I'd definitely recommend this as a great little starter bonsai (even for people like us who know nothing about plants and bonsai trees). ...more info
• Cute plant!
  I just got this little plant today. Does not really look like the traditional "Zen-ish" bonsai, but definitely has a lot of quirky character. The vendor definitely packages it well, with the pot wrapped with plastic to prevent the soil from drying out, and foam peanuts to prevent the stem and body from getting squished.   It being a tree, I wondered if the tree would make it to my mom in one piece. Well, my mom called me today. She just got the tree and she is thrilled beyond belief. She said it arrived in absolutely perfect condition, as if someone had hand delivered it. She still can't get over how it was possible. She said it arrived in a huge box, but it was just a little tree and it looked perfect. They had packed it so well. I told her to send it back if there's anything wrong with it, but she said no, it is PERFECT. Knowing my mom, she would have told me if it wasn't.
  
  UPDATE: I've had three trees sent as gifts to family and they have been an absolute hit! Usually, I get a nice, polite thank you; but this time it is call after call from people who are at a loss for words, just like my mom. Rarely does a present garner so much positive feedback. • Perfect
  The tree arived perfectly packed in a box filled with styrofoam peanuts.
  The base was wrapped in a plastic bag and nestled in a styrofoam cutout that kept it secure and upright.
  There wasn't a single leaf out of place and the tree showed no signs of stress from the trip....more info

• fun delivery
  I just wanted to post the tracking on this gift I sent which was delivered late i guess as it is probably sitting on my friends doorstep at this moment or at least I hope it still is. She is working today but was home yesterday when the 2 day delivery was supposed to have taken place (see below)

• Golden gate ficus indoor bonsai tree
  I ordered this tree, on November 29, 2006, it was delivered December 5, 2006. It was frozen when it was delivered, needless to say, it now looks dead. The box said 2 day air, but it wasn't. I'm very disappointed with this item. Was supposed to be a gift. but now it's dead. Becareful of ording plants in the winter time. I live in Michigan. It must have set in the UPS office for a few days in a freezer or something....more info
• More than I expected for the price
  It didn't look much like the picture. Mine stands about 12 inches tall with the pot. It has a slightly coiled trunk and the leaves are in perfect shape. The pot is bigger than I anticipated. It was packed perfectly and the shipping was super fast. Great deal for the price!...more info
• Not sure if I like it yet
  I bought this plant together with a Money Tree. Money Tree is growing like crazy, this one not so much. It is rather loosing leaves. Not sure if discriptions about growing conditions were not accurate( I picked not too much sun, more shade), or the plant is not up to par....more info

  we got it in a good shape, packaging was really good, then it start dying,so we moved it outside in shade and gave it some liquid plant food, pluse soaking it into water for 10 min, twice a week, it looks great now a days....more info
• Just Weird
  The little "tree" certainly looked healthy; yet the "trunk" was really weird - a bulbous "v" shape coming up to a top that had no branches, just a puff of stems with leaves. Had it not had a confined root system in a small pot with a wire it had grown around, I would have sworn someone had just chopped off a bush, let it sprout back and then dug up the plant and called it a bonsai. I took it to work to make sure it wasn't just me. Everyone agreed it was weird and ugly. ...more info
• What's going on???
  This is the second ficus I ordered from Brussel. The first one, almost a year ago is doing great and a beautiful tree. So I thought I need one for my office and ordered this one. The tree came, and my excitement and anticipation died a quick dead. This one is much smaller than the last one, has no branches and looked like a few leaves sprouted out of some roots. Very weird looking, only about 4" total height, with a very small rectangular pot. Yes, no resemblance to the picture in Amazon.
  
  Thought I need to mention that this is the first time Brussel disappointed me. OK..Brussel, don't make me think that ordering from you guys is like getting a box of chocolate, you don't know what you get until you open it up.....more info
