Product Description

The Bebe Sounds Angel Care Movement Sensor with Sound Monitor detects your baby's slightest movements, even while she sleeps. While it may seem that your baby is perfectly still when she is sleeping, she really isn't. An alarm will sound on the Bebe Sounds Angel Care Movement Sensor with Sound Monitors & 2 Parent Units alerting you to check your baby only if she becomes absolutely still for 20 seconds and no movement whatsoever is detected. The under-the-mattress Sensor Pad detects your baby's slightest movements. If your baby goes absolutely still for 20 seconds, the Sensor Pad sends a signal to the Nursery Unit which sounds an alarm alerting you to check your baby. If you are out of the baby's room, the two portable Parents' Units (Sound Monitor) will pick up the alarm as well as other nursery sounds. In addition, the Nursery Unit has an optional tick feature. If the Sensor Pad senses movement, the Nursery Unit will continuously tick. If it doesn't, the ticking will stop. The two Parents' Units give you the flexibility of always leaving one in your bedroom while moving the second unit to the room you are in while your baby is sleeping. Your crib must have a hard flat surface. If it does not, just place a piece of masonite or a board under the mattress and place the Sensor Pad on top of the masonite and under the mattress. You may order the masonite directly from us. Be sure to place the correct side of the Sensor Pad facing up. The Bebe Sounds Movement Sensor with Sound Monitor requires 12AAA batteries, which are not included.

Parents of preemies and infants at increased risk of SIDS lose a lot of sleep wondering if their babies are still breathing. Even parents of healthy babies experience this kind of anxiety. With its movement sensor pad, sound transmitter, sound lights, and movement detecting "ticking" sound, The Angelcare Movement Sensor with Sound Monitor can take away virtually all this anxiety.

Three Functions, Infinite Peace of Mind
The Angelcare Movement Sensor has three modes of use, enabling parents to use the sensor/sound monitor well into toddlerhood and beyond, if desired. With the Sound & Movement function, you can hear your baby's sounds, see sound lights, and hear a "tic" sound with every movement the baby makes. If no movement is detected, the "tic" will stop and after 20 seconds the alarm will sound. In the Tic Off mode you will not hear the ticking sound with every movement. However, you will still hear the baby's sounds and see sound lights, and your baby's movement is still being detected. An alarm will still sound if absolutely no movement is detected for 20 seconds. And finally, with Sound Only, the movement sensor is disabled, but you will still be able to hear your baby's sounds and see sound lights. In this mode, the Angelcare functions as a regular sound monitor. For many parents, just being able to hear the sighs and squeaks of the newest member of the family is reassurance enough. For those who need more input, for whatever reason, the additional sensory features of the Angelcare can be lifesaving.

How the Angelcare Movement Sensor Works
A sensor pad is placed under the center of baby's crib mattress on a flat, hard surface. The sensor pad cord passes underneath the mattress entirely, exiting the crib in the corner. It is then plugged into the jack of the nursery unit transmitter. The nursery unit can be plugged into an electrical outlet or it can operate with four AAA batteries. The same goes for the parents' unit receivers (two parents' units included). Turn the parents' units on by selecting either channel A or B. Make sure they're set to the same channel as the nursery unit. Set the nursery unit to the desired mode (Sound & Movement, Tic Off, or Sound Only). You may leave one parents' unit in your bedroom and carry the other with you as you move about the house and yard. Now, depending on the function you've selected, you'll be able to keep track of your baby's every sound and movement.

Sound Lights
Indicator lights on an LED sound bar (on the parents' unit) allow you to "see" your baby's sounds if background noises prevent you from hearing baby. As baby's sounds get louder, more lights illuminate.

Optional "Tic" Feature
When the nursery unit is set to Sound & Movement, it will continuously tick with every movement your baby makes. If no movement is detected by the sensor pad beneath baby's mattress, the ticking will stop.

Movement Indicator Light
The movement indicator light is located only on the nursery unit. When the nursery unit is set to Sound & Movement or Tic Off, the movement indicator light will flash green with baby's every movement. The flashing green light will let you know that movement is being detected, which will allow you to check on a sleeping baby in the dark.

False Alarms
False alarms are possible with the Angelcare Movement Sensor, especially if instructions have not been followed to a "t". Make sure to turn off the nursery unit after you've taken baby out of the crib. Also, once baby starts being more mobile, she may roll right off the sensor pad area of the mattress. A troubleshooting guide in the instruction manual gives other solutions to false alarms.

What's in the Box
Angelcare Movement Sensor includes movement sensor pad, nursery sound monitor, two parents' units, instruction manual, and three AC adapters. Twelve AAA batteries are required (not included).--Emilie Coulter

For parents of preemies and babies at greater risk of developing SIDS, the Angelcare Movement Sensor is a lifesaver—literally. A sensor pad goes under baby's mattress and detects baby's slightest movements, even if he is sleeping soundly. If the sensor does not pick up any movement for 20 seconds, an alarm sounds over the two portable receivers and alerts parents. Along with the sensor is a traditional baby monitor that transmits all sound from the nursery to the two receivers. The receivers have a range of up to 200 feet and have light indicators that correspond with the noise level. The monitor and receivers have two channels and low battery indicator lights. Each unit can operate either by four "AAA" batteries or AC adapter (two included). This full-spectrum monitoring system is the recipient of numerous awards and is covered by a one-year limited warranty. --Cristina Vaamonde

Customer Reviews:

  • Provides PEACE of MIND ... ALARM SOUNDS if baby stops breathing/moving.
I LOVE the MOVEMENT SENSOR aspect of this monitor. I have used 2 of these (one in the crib for nighttime sleeping and one in the playpen for daytime naps) and they work GREAT at detecting when there is no movement/breathing. I used these with both my kids, up until they were both [...] and moved to big boy beds.

I only have two complaints. One is that I wish they would improve the monitors so that there is less interference/static, and more channels. With these monitors, you get lots of feedback and can even pick-up neighbors' babies (if they are using similar monitors). This means that the neighbors can also hear you and your baby. In fact, I always used Channel B because I kept picking up neighbors' babies on Channel A. My second complaint is I wish they would make the sensor that goes under the mattress bigger so that it covers more of the sleep area to prevent false alarms.

My workaround solution is that I also own 2 other monitors ... one with video and one with a greater frequency and less static (that I used in conjunction with this one) and carry around the house.

This monitor allowed me to get much needed rest and things done around the house without having to check the baby every 2 minutes to make sure he was still breathing. I wish more manufacturers would add the movement detection feature to their monitors.

Despite some of this monitor's shortcomings, I still HIGHLY recommend it. Worth EVERY penny for that piece of mind. If you buy more than one set, the monitors are interchangeable and work together nicely. In addition, it is small and easy to carry along with you when you travel. So, you can use it on vacations or when you are away from home, to monitor your baby for added peace of mind.

**PLEASE NOTE: You will need MASONITE BOARD, or some other hard board to place under the crib mattress for the movement sensor to sit on. With the playpen (because it had a hard bottom), I didn't need to use anything. I could just place the movement sensor directly under the pad.** ...more info
  • heaps of false alarms
I followed the set-up instructions very closely and reviewed them several times before the twins actually arrived. We tried to use the movement sensor when the first twin came home from the hospital. The first night the movement sensor alarm went off randomly about once an hour. This sent me sprinting through the house in a panic (the first few times) to the nursery only to find a perfectly healthy alive and breathing infant. I adjusted the sensitivity with no improvement. Tried on the other twin once he came home and had the same results. Tried different pad/sensor placement, backing boards, without backing boards and still had false alarms.

We gave up on the movement sensor. We still use the sound monitors because there are two receivers. They have so-so reception in our fairly small house but work well enough. The nicest feature is the circular antenna which makes it easier to stuff a monitor in a pocket while holding a baby. I honestly prefer the fisher-price monitor because the reception is crystal clear, even over greater distances and through many building materials. ...more info
  • Best Product EVER!
This product gives us such peace of mind. I never have to worry when he is in his crib because the monitor will alarm if he stops moving (even breathing). We did receive one false alarm about a month or so after we started using it, but I was happy to know that my husband and I both awoke to it and upon checking on. It is such a great product I just bought it for a friend that would wake up to go in and check on her baby 3-4 times a night....more info
  • Movement/sound monitor
Gives me absolute peace of mind, especially as my baby was born with lung problems. Makes me stop checking her breathing during the night! Also alerts me if she has moved into an odd position (ie, off the mat) such as side-ways with her legs or head up against the sides of the crib, as the monitor will go off if she's moved right off it. Would highly recommend it for the first year....more info
  • I've lost count of the false alarms.
I wanted so much for this thing to work. We are first time parents and like many, were terrified at the thought of sids. We've been using the monitor since our baby was about three months old and have had countless false alarms. Theres no rhyme or reason to when or why the alarm goes off. One day it will go off every half hour whether she on the sensor or not. Then we'll be alarm free for the next three nights. Then we'll have false alarms every night for a week. I can honestly say I havent had a full nights sleep in months and its not due to a fussy baby...its due to a fussy alarm!
We've discussed not using it anymore, but we are both too scared to stop. So yes, it does give us peace of mind, when it works. Unfortunately thats only about 50% of the time.
The worst part is that the alarm goes off in the babys room too, so not only do we get woken up every night, she does too. As a matter of fact the whole reason Im writing this review right now is that the alarm went off when we were both trying to nap,(I need the nap because I had 3 false alarms last night), and now she's wide awake and grumpy and Im just plain angry.
We are on the verge of giving up on this item and today might have just clinched it for me. Would I reccommend this to a friend? A few months ago, maybe. But with all the frustration we've experienced until now, I would probably tell them to save thier money. ...more info
  • Worth every penny....
...for peace of mind. Rather than reiterate the countless positive reviews, I just want to address some of the few negative ones. First, there is occasionally some static and interference. This static is likely from outside sources, as we can cure it by switching channels, lowering the volume slightly (this is probably the problem -- we'll turn on her Baby Mozart real low and adjust the volume to where we can hear it -- at this level, you'll hear a cry just fine), or simply moving the receiving unit a few inches, as the static only happens periodically. Also, the alarm has sounded a few times, but I'm reluctant to call it a false alarm (unless our baby scoots off the sensor range, which is wide). For all we know, she stopped breathing and the alarm jolted her back (babies, especially newborns, often stop breathing for 10-15 seconds, so 20 wouldn't be unheard-of). I have no problem running in to check on her once in a while -- I'd rather hear a false alarm once a week than run in several times a night b/c I'm just not sure.

One other thing -- our daughter does not sleep well on her back, but usually sleeps through the night on her belly (and has since she was a month old). We checked with two pediatricians who advised us that this was fine, so long as we had the sensor. Of course, check with your own doctor if you plan on doing this....more info

  • My baby would not sleep face up! Now, he doesn't have to!
I am the proud dad of a baby boy that would not go to sleep face up, but when we tried face down (supervised), it was heaven...but worried us to death to do it unsupervised. SIDS kills 1 in 1000 babies, is you baby worth $75? I bought this monitor and have been using it for two weeks. We are in Italy, and it does not work with 220 volts, so we use a transformer for the base (with batteries as back-up) and batteries for the remote speaker/alarm. If you need to use it with 220 Volts or if you would rather have something portable/battery operated, you might want to consider another battery operated portable monitor (Google RESPISENSE $120). Although this Angel Care monitor is about $75, batteries even if rechargeable will cost you the difference between the two. No matter what monitor you get, if you read this...Get one! Do not find your baby lifeless because you wanted to save money. Last night, while I was watching TV, I heard the alarm from the living room. My wife had the monitor in our bedroom and we both rushed, but she looked at him, she turned away and stayed back. Now that I recall, the alarm had stopped going off, meaning it had detected a movement, but I honestly believe the monitor woke my baby up from a very deep sleep. I touched him and he moved...my heart almost stopped too. I am writing this because it is the only thing I can do to help save your baby too. Get something, do your research and protect what you most value. ...more info
  • Worth every penny!
When I heard about this, I had to have it. I was worried that it wouldn't work as well as people had said, but it does! This product has allowed me to get a good night sleep. The one time it has gone off, my daughter wasn't breathing, but we sturred her and she started again. This saved her life. The reason that I gave it a four is because the monitors are not very good. They have a lot of static and are not clear. What I did was get a set of monitors and I put one in the nursery with the baby, one in my bedroom, and one to carry around the house. This works great and the peace of mind is priceless....more info
  • Movement/Sound monitor
Using the BebeSounds movement sensor w/ sound monitor for the purpose I purchased it for (the movement sensor), I find it works very well. It does give me peace of mind. The alarm sounds very loudly and can be heard throughout the house (have only heard while testing it out-no real emergencies!)However, as a sound monitor alone, not crazy about the interfernce/static it seems to have....Also the volume aspect of using it just for sound, isn't as loud as I'd like for outside time........more info
  • Perfect Paranoid Parent Product
I purchased this monitor at the suggestion of both a friend and nurse at the hospital for my preemie son. There were a couple of problems with it which made me mostly disappointed in the purchase.

    1. One of the parent's units would not work. It was staticky on both channels no matter where I placed it in the house. I had to call the manufacturer - Bebe Sounds - only to be redirected to Graco who apparently purchased the Angel Care monitor rights from Bebe Sounds. After being transferred multiple times and hung up on once, I finally got through to customer service and they did offer to send a new parent's unit to me free. The new unit they sent to me works just fine.
    2. Major Issue - The movement sensor began to alarm in the middle of the night, multiple times a night. It would never alarm during the day though. I would check on my son, and he'd be just fine. He was not blue or gasping, he was breathing normally. Even turning the sensor sensitivity all the way up, it still alarmed. We finally called the pediatrician who sent us to the hospital for an overnight sleep apnea study, which turned out normal. So the monitor that was supposed to give us peace of mind just gave us a lot less sleep and stress, and we need all the sleep we can get with a newborn.

On a positive note, the sensor pad was easy to install and sound coming through the parent's units is crystal clear. We do still use this for sound monitoring only but no longer turn on the movement sensor. So far, so good. I'm giving this item a rating of three because in theory it's a good product for paranoid parents like myself, but there are problems with our particular unit that I took issue with....more info
  • Replace apnea monitor with Angelcare Monitor
This is a wonderful product, peace of mind for mommy and daddy. The best product on the market to prevent SIDS. My son was a micropremie, born at 23 wks and weighed 1 lb 5 oz, he was sent home on an apnea monitor. That was a major stress and very dangerous equipment, when my son started rolling over in the crib the cord from the apnea monitor got wrapped around my sons neck. Thank god i walked in when i did, he was safe. But that was the last time i would put that on my son. We immediately went and got the Angelcare monitor and were very pleased at the ease of use, peace of mind and security. Thank God for this Angel Care Monitor! ...more info
  • This monitor is a lifesaver
We purchased this for our son before he was born, he wasn't a premie or at an increased risk for SIDS but I wanted the piece of mind to know he was breathing. Well, at 4 months old, the alarm went off in the middle of the night. We jumped up and ran into his room and picked him up, he wasn't breathing, when we picked him up it startled him and he started to breathe. We later found out after he was tested due to another alarm going off at night that he was having sleep apnea episodes. The thought of what could have happened had we not known he wasn't breathing scares me everyday. There is no price that can be put on the security of knowing if your child stops breathing you will know. I recommend this highly to everyone having a baby and it is the first thing I buy when close friends of mine have a baby.

Now, at 11 months old, my son still uses this monitor. Even though he is a mover now in his crib, we get very few false alarms. I can also attest to the fact that the range on this monitor is awesome and the sound quality is great. Overall there isn't anything bad I can say about this product!...more info
  • works great
We had a regular monitor but my husband was waking up about 10 times throughout the night to check on our son. Since we got this it gave us peace of mind--which is really the main reason I think anyone should really get this. If you are fine with a regular monitor and you aren't always checking on your baby throughout the night, then you may not need this. But if you will sleep better with a product like this I definitely say buy it. We have not had any problems with false alarms--we put a piece of sturdy cardboard under the mattress per other reviewer suggestions and I think that has been the reason why. If I am using the audio part of the monitor I have picked up neighbor's frequency but since we really only use it at night for the sensor element, this has not been a problem for us....more info
  • One item you can't live without!!!!
We used this monitor with all three of our boys. It gives you a piece of mind while you and your baby are sleeping. The clicking sound of the monitor lets you know that the baby is safe and breathing properly during sleep. The item is well worth the money. Amazon has the best price on the web and in local stores. This is one item we couldn't live without during the risky months when children fall prey to SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome)...more info
  • Best purchase I've ever made
I usually don't take the time to write reviews, but this one is worth it because it may save a baby's life. We got this for our son at 8 months because of our constant battle with his respiratory issues. He was always congested, we were constantly giving breathing treatments, and one morning it was so bad, his breaths were so light and shallow it scared us to death. It is basically baby asthma, but they don't diagnose asthma until 2 years. This thing works so good, It makes me feel bad I didn't have it for my other two children. We feel much more confident when we go to bed now. You just have to put plywood (or something stable) at the bottom of the crib and put the sensor on it. It amazingly detects the light breaths of a baby even in deep sleep. At first I would forget to turn it off when I took him out, and sure enough it would go off in however many seconds (I think 20). We have only had one false alarm, we have his mattress and plywood tilted a bit, and he wiggled all the way down to the very very bottom corner and I guess it didn't pick up the breaths and it went off. I check on him and he was fine, I just moved him up. But that was one false alarm in almost three months now. I have no problem with that, I'd rather be safe. Bottom line is, you just can't beat it. It is the same price almost as a regular monitor, and this one does both. By the way, the two monitors are very clear and can go loud. They can both stay plugged in and switch to batteries when unplugged. Our son is doing fine now, but will will still use it for a long time, and like I said, I wish I would have known about it for all of my other children. Great prouduct....more info
  • Mostly good
Sound is very clear and we don't have any issues with static. I like it overall, but my only complaint is that the sensor pad isn't large enough. If my son is too far away, it goes off, and this happens quite a bit now that he's rolling around. ...more info
  • Life Saver
This monitor saved my baby's life. It did exactly what it was supposed to do when my baby (1 month old) stopped breathing. I ran in and resuscitated her and she is doing fine now. Without this monitor, I hate to think when and how I would have found her. Buy it....more info
  • Good motion monitor, poor sound quality and range
My wife and I already owned an excellent sound monitor. We purchassed this unit primary for the motion monitor. Because our 1 month old daughter would only sleep on her tummy, this product has given us great peace of mind. It only alarmed once, when she had managed to roll away fromthe sensor pad to the other end of the crib (at 3 months old). When we first installed the product (which was very easy), we would forget to turn the sensor off when picking her up, which would make it alarm each time-- this gave me confidence that it works properly and would alarm in the event of an emergency. The sound quality is not as good as competing non-motion sensing products, and we use this product in conjuction with our other monitor. When the product alarms, we can hear it on the sound monitor that we use very clearly. ...more info
  • very pleased, allows US to sleep at night!
Originally I didn't think it would be necessary to have a monitor that senses the child is breathing ... now I'm convinced I couldn't live without it! It just gives us the piece of mind that our baby is still breathing ... we were even able to use it when we had to prop up her mattress when she had a nasty cold. We have had a few "false alarms", but not that many (and we might have had a real alarm, it was tough to tell). Either way very pleased with the product. We do seem to hear some static sometimes in one of the receivers, but it seems to be due to other electrical equipment in the area (however it is a bit random). Any which way not a big bother, very happy. I suppose I wish the receivers were a bit easier to clip onto a belt or something, but we mostly just put it down wherever we are going to be for an extended period of time....more info
  • Excellent Product!
We love this product. After 5 1/2 weeks in the NICU with our baby (born at 31 weeks) we were very accustomed our baby being monitored. We bought this product and have been using it for a week now and it works great. We know it probably isn't foolproof, but it is a tool to help us keep the baby safe. For those who complained of false alarms (of which I read many reviews), I would argue that perhaps they weren't false. After our hospital experience, we now know babies do stop breathing. Apnea/Bradychardias are the main reason preemies don't get discharged. Every incident the baby has moves your discharge date back a week. And incidents happen often (mostly while eating, but also while sleeping). If your baby isn't hooked to a monitor, you'd often never realize it. So I believe that many of these "false alarms" people are complaining about are probably legitimate. I highly recommend this product-just keep in mind it is just a tool and diligence is still required in keeping your baby safe. ...more info
  • It May Have Saved A Life!
When I first bought this, I held onto it for a while before I installed it, thinking that it was a frivolous waste of money and that I'd worry more if I had it. At the same time, I was getting very little sleep because I'd spend the night checking on the baby in her bassinet next to my bed.

I finally installed the monitor when she was a couple of months old, and it offered amazing peace of mind. If I woke up and started to worry, I could just look over at the little blinking light if I couldn't hear her breathing. I'd tell myself "if I don't hear the alarm, everything's okay," and go back to sleep.

Scroll forward a couple of months. I figured it was time to move her to her own room and crib, so I moved her and the monitor in.

That same night, I was snuggling in for my first night of sleeping without her in my room. I fell asleep and a few hours later, the alarm went off for the first time ever.

I bolted out of bed and ran into her room. She was curled up in a ball with her nose smooshed against one of the slats in the crib, not moving. As I cleared the door to reach for her, the alarm turned off, making it obvious that she really had stopped breathing and had only started up again as I made noise running into the room.

My eyes are tearing up as I read this, thinking of what might have happened during her first night sleeping on her own. Thank you, manufacturers of the Bebesounds monitors. You might have saved a little, precious life.

She's now sleeping in my room again...might keep her here till she's out of kindergarten. :-)

ADDENDUM: It's a few months after I wrote the review above. I moved her back into her crib about a month ago and we've had a couple more alarm-soundings in the night. As she gets more active, she gets better at wedging herself into the corners, where the monitor doesn't work as well.

While it almost gives me a heart attack to hear the alarm go off and it's tempting to just turn it off, this monitor still offers me peace of mind. I'm planning to stop using it when she turns 12 months, which is apparently when SIDS risk drops nearly to nil.

It would be great if the manufacturers offered this same monitor with a larger sensor pad to accommodate a crib mattress - if it were twice as long, we'd never have false alarms....more info

This monitor is fabulous. We have the baby in the bassinet right next to our bed, but I still wouldn't sleep as peacefully without this monitor! • Peace of Mind
My husband and I bought this for our firstborn son when he was about 1 month old. We moved him out of our room and into his crib upstairs around that time and we were terrified of SIDS. We were deciding between this and a video monitor. I think this product is wonderful. Sure, there are false alarms. We've had to increase the sensitivity a bit and we still get them. However, being woken up occasionally for a false alarm is much preferred to not being woken up for a true emergency. It also alerts us to times he has rolled to the side of the crib. I find the sound quality superior to our other monitor (Fisher Price Sounds and Lights). Even though the price is a good value, can a price really be put on a parent's peace of mind?...more info
  • Great peace of mind
Product works as advertised... our new baby boy has to sleep on his tummy or he won't sleep at all, so we decided to try one of these out due to the studies showing that stomach sleepers are statistically more likely to suffer from SIDS. The product is super easy to use, we just plugged it in and turned it on. As long as you have a flat sturdy surface under the mattress, it detects even the slight motion produced by the baby breathing. And sure enough, if you take the baby out for a diaper change and forget to turn the unit off, it senses that motion has stopped, and sounds a loud alarm. We're four months into this, and only two false alarms so far, and both because the baby crawled into the corner of the crib farthest from the sensor. For the price, this product is SO worth the peace of mind it can bring. We bought two... one for home and one for Grandma's, where he stays two days a week.

    IN SHORT... HIGHLY RECOMMENDED....more info

I thought long about all my options, video monitor, digital sound etc. SIDS is the only thing I was afraid of. The baby doesn't move much when sleeping so having a video monitor only tells me that she was not kidnapped or miraculously climbed out of the crib and is now missing... Not likely! I read the reviews about the sound interference but to be quiet honest I can hear my baby fine without the extra volume.
The device works really good. I turn the sound down on the receiver and really use it for the sensor which works great. It is what senses her breathing/heartbeat. So if my baby isn't doing that then the thing beeps loud. I know it works because when I take her out of the crib to feed I usually forget to turn it off and without fail it goes off. Impressive! ...more info
  • AWESOME
I decided to review this monitor after reading the reviews. I have owned this monitor since we moved our daughter to her own room and crib at 7 weeks. She is now almost 5 months old and this monitor is the only reason I sleep at night. Our parents always tell us how we slept on our stomachs and they never worried. Well, I worry. While I was purchasing this monitor for a friend I noticed the stars, so I read the bad reviews. I think I counted 11 out of 169 (170, now)reviews were negative.

Now I will give my quick review of those poor comments. Several of the poor comments came from people who never even used the movement sensor monitor because it was not wanted, needed, too difficult or bothersome to get the board(even though you can purchase it directly from the company for less than $20 for those unable to make one for themselves) So these poor reviews are misleading. I can see how they think it was not worth the money.

Some of the reviewers complained of the poor sound quality coming from the sound monitor, I am not sure if it matters how clear it is as long as you can hear your child cry. Maybe when my child is older and can talk to me it will matter, but for now, crying is crying in our book and you can't mistake it for babbling or cooing.

As for interference, yes we have it when the transmitter is turned off and the receivers are on, but when the transmitter is on we only hear our childs room noise.

One review complained that the product only had 1 AC adapter for the two receivers. The product new comes with AC adapters for all units involved. Maybe their unit had been returned to the store with an AC adapter left out.

One reviewer complained that the tic of the movement sensor was annoying. The tic can be turned off without turing off the movement sensor or sound monitor.

Another review claimed to have many false alarms. I am not saying that there are no false alarms but I would rather have rare false alarms than none at all. So far for us, we had one false alarm when our daughter moved to the very far corner of the crib at 10 weeks, and the other two just a couple of weeks ago (twice in the same night) , the cause was thought to be that I moved the sensor pad to far over after changing the sheet and I forgot to check the pad to make sure it was placed properly. The next day we did just that, we checked the pad, and as of earlier today, so far so good.

We liked this unit so much we bought one for our 1 week old nephew, our friends 1 week old,and for a shower gift. I agree with Graham (a reviewer) on the improvements that could be made. Right now though, it is a good start.

I ask that before you return this product or list a poor review, you consider this:
This is a movement sensor with a sound monitor, not a sound monitor with a movement sensor, when you purchase this product you are mainly buying the movement sensor.
This sensor was reviewed by 170 people and only 11 or so gave it less than 5 stars, the 159 gave it 5 stars.
Make sure you have followed the setup instructions exactly, it makes a difference the type of board, the size and the placement.
if it still doesn't work try exchanging the unit. Sometimes units just don't work. It could be a wire or something.

Lastly, if you are looking for a sound monitor that is crystal clear and you don't really want the movement sensor, this unit is not for you.
I recommend this product to anyone, I understand that it is not fail-proof but it still gives you some peace knowing that you might be warned if there are problems.

UPDATE: I posted this review over 1 1/2 years ago. We are still using the monitor and sensor...It has taken a beating but keeps on ticking, so to speak. It worked the other night when our now two year old held her breath while sleeping, first alarm in a year. We have had several warning ticks over the year, 15 or so, but it clicks and the we notice she starts to breathe. I will definitely be buying another one for our second child....more info
  • Such piece of mind...
I have no negative comments about this product at all. It is very easy to set up and I have used it in a bassinet, a pack and play with a piece of MDF board as a base, and the crib. It is very portable as I just took it on vacation with me. I was so glad that I had it with me. I always test it before putting my child on it to assure that the detection level is correct. It has only sounded once and when I RAN to my child, he was in a VERY deep sleep and had shifted to the edge of his crib. I'm perfectly content with "false alarms"! I would rather that than it not go off when it should. I haven't had any issues with buzzing noises or interference. My neighbor across the street has the same monitor and we just use different channels with no problem. I would HIGHLY recommend this to any new or experienced parent...I just got this with my third child and wished that I had known about it sooner. It would have helped with those restless nights!...more info

  • Did not work, lousy customer service
The alarm kept sounding every few seconds even at the least sensitive setting. Customer care had us send in the monitor at our own expense (we had to buy a temporary substitute as well) and when they could not find anything wrong with the monitor -- they would not refund the money. However, the monitor simply would not work for us so we ended up throwing out the monitor and wasting almost $100. Infuriating. ...more info
  • Best monitor
Best monitor ever. Gives you peace of mind. Reception is great and clear. Never staticky....more info
  • A wonderful product
This monitor is great. It isn't a perfect unit, as it will give you a few false alarms if the baby is sleepin on the edge of crib. But the few false alarms I've had are surely worth the piece of mind. We've had used it continuously for three years and it's still in fine condition....more info
  • Amazing product that gives peace of mind
As new parents we find that this product gives us great peace of mind. The product works perfectly and we've had only one false alarm since we've been using it. The only gripe some people may have is that there is a beeping that sounds almost like you are in a submarine, but you will grow used to it very quickly and it doesn't seem to bother our baby. Even though SIDS is a rare condition, I think it would be foolish for anyone to take the risk of a babies life for less than a hundred bucks. As for us we are sold on the product and have already recommended it to everyone we know....more info
  • Excellent Monitor
This is my second monitor. I purchased one about 3 yrs back for my daughter and still use it to this day since she suffers from asthma and figured I would buy another once my son was born. I have both working and just have them on different channels and no static or interferrence at all. I had 3 other types of monitors for my daughter before I bought this one and let me tell you - this is the best ever!!!! I highly recommend this monitor to anyone. ...more info
