Customer Reviews:

  • Good Cleanser
Cetaphil Cleanser is one of the very best out there. I have very sensitive skin. Even when I use dove soap, my skin immediately turns red and itchy. I was introduced to this product when I went to the beauty shop. Every time I use it, my face literally shines. Although I have to say, my face turns a little dry after using it, but I will still continue to use it because it does make my skin itchy or break out....more info
  • Could not live without it
This is my first line of defense when it comes to skin care.

I have used this twice a day, morning and night, for a good three years and it has dramatically improved my complexion. I believe this product to be a major factor in the number of compliments I've had on the quality of my skin.

As for acne, I would likely still be a rather severe sufferer had I not been introduced to this product. That this cleanser has been able to [very nearly] banish my acne without any harsh chemicals or acids is worth the price of the seemingly expensive investment. It is worth every penny.

Contrary to an earlier review, I find that it works very well (and gently) for removing eye makeup because of the sensitive nature of the skin surrounding the eyes. Carefully apply a fairly generous amount of the product and use a q-tip with a twisting motion to lift it away.

I cannot say how well this works with foundations or concealers as, because of this product, I have no need for them.

I simply cannot recommend this highly enough....more info
  • Best cleanser out there
Everyone in our family uses this on the recommendation of the dermatologist. Gentle, good for all types of skin....more info
  • Really Great Gentle Facial Cleanser
Cetaphil is an amazing product. Our family has been using it for the longest time. It is not sudsy like ordinary soap which makes it very easy to rinse. You will not spend a lot of time just to remove that slippery feeling when using soaps. After you dry with a face towel, you will feel the difference on your skin. Oil is gone without you face feeling stretch dry. It is very gentle it was recommended before by my wife's derma for one of my sons when he had a skin problem. It does work as a shaving lubricant too....more info

  • Dermatologists Agree!!
I've seen 2 different dermatologists, and they BOTH said to use Cetaphil. Every other person I know who has had to visit a dermatologist says their doctor also recommended Cetaphil. I have a rare (and extremely severe)form of Rosacea and have tried TONS of cleansers and I have to say that this cleanser is the BEST!!! Between my medication-induced dry skin and the sub-zero Chicago winter weather, my skin takes a beating. Normally I rinse the cleanser off, but on the worst days, I wipe it off with a soft cloth. My skin is soft and supple now, whereas before, it would flake like crazy. It looked like I had severe dandruff, until you realized all the flakes on my shirt were from my face! Just stay away from the bar cleansers. They are not so good. If you have oily skin, use the liquid cleanser for normal to oily skin....more info
  • Good for anyone!
As far as washing your face and neck only, I'll rate this a five. I have oily enough skin to fry something with the oil off my face, but I use it anyway. It's the one thing that doesn't leave a residue on my face. Also, it's perfect for me to remove my eye makeup, as it doesn't sting a bit. But it's only the liquid version that doesn't leave a residue behind. Unfortunately, I cannot say that about the bar version.

I also, due to my body chemistry, cannot use this to bathe with, as I have in the past a few times and got accused of not bathing. So I'd only recommend it obly to wash face and neck unless you truly cannot handle using anything besides Cetaphil....more info
  • for those with seborrheic dermatitis
I have a really nasty case with seborrheic dermatitis that has plagued me since I was in high school. Cetaphil is the ONLY thing that I can use on my face that doesn't cause intense flaking and acne breakouts (yes, I am lucky enough to get them BOTH!) There is the added bonus of the "without water" option which means I can use it in a pinch at work when I can feel a breakout coming on, and I even brought it on a camping trip where there was no running water-- I was the most popular girl at the campsite! We all had a fun trip and no one was stuck with oily skin for the weekend....more info
  • Finally, I've found the best cleanser!
Let's just say I was skeptical. My friends used to marvel at my collection of used cosmetics and cleansers. After 20 years of trying every cleanser I possibly could on the market, from upmarket to cheap cleansers, I still hadn't found the perfect one and thought I never would. Every cleanser I use either dried my skin out, or made me break out. Anyway, I was getting desperate and began looking at reviews of face cleansers and stumbled across this one. I frankly had never heard of it (it's always on the bottom shelves at the drug stores) and probably would never have tried it because of it's boring packaging. Anyway, after reading tons of good reviews on various sites, I bought some and have been using it for about 3 months now. I can't believe the difference! This cleanser is honestly the best cleanser I've ever used. It doesn't have any unnecessary fragrances or other ingredients, it keeps my skin soft and smooth, I don't break out, I save money on moisturizer because I don't have to slather it on anymore, it removes my makeup easily and I LOVE IT!!! I wish I would have found this 20 years ago before I wasted all my money on those bottles of cleansers. My skin actually glows now. I highly recommend this product to everyone. You won't regret trying this. ...more info
  • Not glamorous, but very effective
I received a free sample of this product from my dermatologist. I had been reluctant to purchase it because it was so very unglamorous. However, it has been a godsend to my combination skin. I very rarely break out, and when I do it is much less severe than it used to be, and I don't use any acne medications. I used to think that I needed to use harsh cleansers to clean the oil from my skin, but in fact, those harsh cleansers strip your skin so severely they increase oil production. No other product makes my skin as soft and smooth. It's also perfect for delicate areas such as your decolletage and feminine regions, and cleans makeup without irritating skin or eyes.

When I want to exfoliate a few times a week I use Cetaphil with a teaspoon of sea salt. Works like a charm....more info
  • ABSOLUTELY THE BEST CLEANSER FOR ANYONE WHO WANTS BEAUTIFUL, HEALTHY, SOFT SKIN.
THE BEST CLEANSER YOU WILL EVER USE. IF YOU HAVE SENSITIVE TO DRY SKIN, YOU WILL LOVE THIS CLEANSER. YOU CAN USE IT ALL OVER YOUR FACE AND EYES, NO STINGING, NOTHING, EVEN AS A BODY WASH.

I HAVE EXTREMELY SENSITIVE SKIN, I WAS TOLD ABOUT THIS BY MY DERMATOLOGIST, AND HAVE BEEN USING IT FOR 7 YEARS NOW. MY SKIN IS BEAUTIFUL, AND WRINKLE FREE, I ALSO USE THE BODY LOTION.

BEATS ALL THE PRICEY MALL PRODUCTS BY FAR.

I LEARNED THE HARD WAY, PRICEY PRODUCTS ARE ALL A WASTE OF MONEY, IT'S WHATEVER WORKS FOR YOU.

GIVE IT A TRY. THEY ALSO HAVE A FACIAL WASH FOR OILY SKIN, I HEAR IS GREAT ALSO...more info
  • I Finally Found The Right Product For My Skin
I have dry, sensitive skin and the facial cleansers I used in the past only made my skin more dry and irritated. I've been using Cetaphil for 2 years now and it works wonderfully on my skin. It leaves my face feeling soft and fresh. You can use it with or without water, but I always use it with water. Unless you're using Cetaphil for your entire body, you don't need to slather on too much of the product on your face. Like a previous reviewer mentioned, it would be nice if Cetaphil also came in a travel-size bottle....more info
  • Works like it Should
I use this cleaner every night in combo the spf lotion and with a peel once a week. This works magic. It's pricey but is well worth it and last a loooong time. My face doesn't feel like there is residue on it afterwards like other cleaners. Listen to the reviews and get some. ...more info
  • Doesn't work for me, but maybe I'm just the anomaly
Wow, this cleanser has gotten so many positive reviews across many boards and forums. I have very sensitive skin and unfortunately, the very bad habit of being a facial skincare products junkie. I was hooked on using a cream cleanser by Estee Lauder but my pockets were going empty so I decided to try out the drugstore options. For my first forray, I decided, thanks to all teh glowing reviews, to try out Cetaphil. At the time, I was also experiencing mild acne, and yes, many reviewers also pointed out Cetaphil helped "cure" them of acne problems (though there's no acne-fighting ingredients such as benzoyl peroxide in it). So I figured to give it a shot, and at $10 for a BIG bottle, I thought it was a good investment.

Gave it a go that night. The stuff did not foam, which is ok with me, but what was not ok was the smell. I hesitated to rub it on my face, then took the plunge. Felt immediate stinging, which was a bit of a shock. Washed it off, still continued to feel the stinging so I went over my face more thoroughly with my washcloth. My skin felt really irritated, and I was preplexed since Cetaphil is supposed to be so mild and gentle. Alas, the next mornign I woke up with two fresh, new lovely pimples on my cheeks (which incidentally was where I first applied the cleanser). Wasn't thinking and again washed with Cetaphil. The whole day, my coworkers kept asking if I was sick because my face was really red and flushed. That night I just washed with water, no soaps at all, and dabbed medication on my pimples.

Guess what? My skin has improved since I stopped using Cetaphil. I am now using Purpose cleanser and my skin is ok. Just to check, I did try Cetaphil once again and woke up with a new pimple and flushed skin. So now that huge bottle of Cetaphil is just languishing away and taking up space in the medicine cabinet.

I honestly do not know why it did not work for me. I've read rumors that Cetaphil contains SLS which is known to irritate some people's skin. That could very well be my case, but I know I use shampoos with SLS and they havent bothered me (then again I do not rub shampoo on my face...). Guess I am the one dissenter who does not like Cetaphil....more info
  • Gentle Cleanser
Despite the presence of two types of alcohol, this is a very gentle cleanser that works without soap. It can be used for various skin conditions (consult your doctor), but, as stated above, is also useful for those with seasonal allergies.

Cetaphil is non-alkaline, has no fragrance, and does not block pores ("non-comedogenic). The label states that it's excellent "for the delicate skin of babies" and that it "helps the skin retain moisture." The product may be used either with or without water; instruction for each are on the label. When used without water, one is to "remove excess with a soft cloth, leaving a thin film of Cetaphil...the emollient quality will leave the skin soft and moist." Two minor complaints: The label has no information about whether Cetaphil is tested on animals, and the company should offer a smaller size, both for portability and for those who want to sample the product. ...more info
