Customer Reviews:

  • Basically a great smoothie maker!
I bought this product around a month ago, and we've made smoothies nearly every morning since! It is excellent. It is a heavy, sturdy product and is MUCH larger than it appears in the photo. I was very surprised when I removed it from the package. At capacity, there is more than enough smoothie for four people!

It easily handles fresh fruit and ice, and creates a nice consistency provided you have the right amount of ice. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because is struggles to blend large frozen chunks of fruit. Probably any blender would. But don't expect to be able to drop a large chunk of frozen bananas, strawberries, and peaches (or something else) in there and have immediate success. It takes some work with the stir stick.

As far as cleanup goes, I've only been washing it out with hot water immediately after use, which works well. Here's a hint: Don't forget to close the tap after washing. If you leave it open, whatever liquid you pour in the next time will come right out all over your counter! It's happened to me twice, but I think I've learned my lesson, finally....more info
  • Much improved...
I previously owned the Back to Basics Smoothie Plus 600 Model and was pretty satisfied except for the cheaply made plastic pitcher which had a spout that broke early on. This model comes with a glass pitcher and seems better made overall. Still loud when operating, but I guess most smoothie makers are.
Price is reasonable compared to what else is out there....more info
  • Smoothie OK
This model (from the pic) was sent as a replacement for a Back-to-Basics Smoothie Plus 600 that quit after the first 3 seconds of use.

If I'm not mistaken, since there's no description of what's include in this particular machine, the product I was sent included an extra smoothie container. We've used it for about 2 1/2 months and seems to work fine. I'm assuming B2B uses similar motors in all their many machines with different outer housings. For the price, I'd recommend it.

  • repeat customer for this product
I have been searching to purchase the Back to Basics as I wore out my previous 2. I believe this is one of the easiest smoothie makers to clean which is important when making smoothies several times daily! The blades could be a little sharper but isn't a huge deal since you have the stir stick....more info
  • This blender rocks!
My boyfriend and I are smoothie fanatics, and I often make giant smoothies for both of us, so I needed a blender powerful enough to take care of lots of frozen fruit at once. Man, does this thing do the trick! The pitcher is really wide, so ingredients at the top are more easily sucked down to the blades, and it almost never develops that annoying air pocket that prevents anything from happening at the bottom. My old blender would do that so often, it would take me forever just to make a smoothie for myself, and no way could it handle two at the same time. This one has a stir stick to keep things going, and since it's exactly the right length, I don't have to worry about it hitting the blades while the blender's on - when I have to use it at all. I can fill the pitcher literally to the brim and it has no trouble mixing really thick smoothies (frozen mangoes, strawberries, pineapple, melon, bananas, etc.) really well. I thought the pour spout would be a hassle, but it's very sturdy, never leaks and keeps things really clean - plus, you can take it off and replace it with a cap (included) if you want. The base is featureless except for the dial on the side, so it's super easy to clean too - when I have to, which is almost never. I just can't say enough about this blender. It's awesome!...more info

  • Back to Basics SALPHA500
Only used about six times so far for Frozen drinks, seems to have plenty of power, well built. My only minor concern is that the spout seems to 'drip' a lot more than my old model. Would highly recommend....more info
  • back to basic smoothie makers are worthless
we have had 5 different smoothie makers by BACK TO BASICS, and within 2 months of only using them on an average of 2 x a week, they either, crack at the blade, or base. yesterday I bought this one and it laste 30 seconds and quit! We are not hard on our appliances at all! This was a JOKE, and to top it off, there is NO replacement parts for any of them. If it has any defect, it is trashed. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY...more info
  • Good news, bad news.
I really liked the way the smoothie maker performed, it was awesome at crushing ice! However, like several other people, the spout cracked after 3 months. I ordered a new part, but the new spout broke during the first use. I am now looking for a new brand. ...more info
