Customer Reviews:

  • No more pitcher to fill
What a joy to turn on the tap, turn the unit into the up position and out comes filtered, clean, and good tasting water. No more filling the pitcher for ice cubes, tea or just drinking ( which I do all day)The company is wonderful to work with. I thought my unit was defective, I called and was enlighten. They sent couponds for filters and a new unit if I wanted.. P & G gets my vote. great product. ...more info
  • Housing Cracked
After several months of use (< 6) the housing developed multiple hairline cracks that allow water to spew all over the place. WHAT A MESS! This thing is not worth the money. I've tried covering the cracks with epoxy putty but no use. The water just finds another way out. STAY AWAY FROM THIS THING!...more info
  • Cracked and Leaking
I've had and enjoyed this product in past homes, but this time the one I bought developed cracks in the housing below the indicator window. Water is now spewing forth from the cracks so bad that I've had to stop using it. I'm in the process of trying to contact the company . . . maybe they'll replace it for me. What a hassle. ...more info
  • Give me a break!
This makes good-tasting water, but you'll only have that pleasure for two weeks. These filters get clogged faster than you can get a chance to enjoy the rewards!...more info
  • Good Water, LONG Wait
This filter worked great for about the first week of use. Our water tested better in a blind taste-test and seemed cleaner.

Unfortunately, after one week, the filtration process got slower and slower and SLOWER. At first, a glass of water took 5 seconds, then 10, and then like 20-30 seconds. It got so bad we started putting a 1 gallon jug under the filter and waited 1-3 hours for a gallon of filtered water! Not only that, but the filter replacement indicator says the filter is just fine and doesn't need to be replaced (as it shouldn't, being only 1 month old).

Also, the filter does take up a bit of space on your faucet, so you may want to consider an alternative if you have a small sink....more info
  • A great product!!
I am an avid water drinker. First I had Poland springs delivered in 5 gallon jugs...That was cumbersome! Then I started buying distilled water by the gallons...that was also cumbersome! Then, my dear sister told me about her Pur water Faucet purifier and that she loved the taste of her water! Where was I all these years! Eureka! This is one of the best products I have purchased in years! It is easy to use, the water is superb and I will never go another route in getting my aqua again! You have a customer for life in me! Great product! Keep up the purifying! You rock!...more info
  • Horrible
but the company stood behind its product and replaced it with whatever one I wanted so I tried again and it happened again. It would leak through the indicator window. So, I again called and they again sent a coupon for whatever one I wanted. So, this time I got the 3 stage one that you don't move and it has a electronic indicator. So far not to bad except w/a little leaking from the actual faucet side but I just think I need to tighten the black ring. ...more info
  • I will never buy PUR again!
If we had something below 1 star I would give that rating to PUR on-tap filter. I bought PUR 6 months back and now I am very disappointed with it.

    Why? 3 reasons...

    1. It leaks at the mount point in both situations whether you want tap water or filter water.
    2. It costs more than what its worth
    3. The mounting knob if over tighened cannot be easily opened as it is very inconvinient to push and hold it for a good grip to open it back.

I would say this is a waste of money. Will never recommend it to anyone. I am looking at Brita now....more info
  • Better than other filters
Compared to BRITA tap filter this filter performs better in the sense that the water flow through this filter is faster whether you engage or disengage filter.
Beware of those new filter designs which protrude to much to the side, as all that extra conduits slows down water flow. The water flow is slow as it is, I am surprised BRITA (or even the fancy model of PUR- though I haven't tried that) didn't notice that....more info
  • Many leaks after only 3 months
The indicator window will leak!!!!! ...and leak everywhere. I have had two of these things and they both leaked badly. My current one is being held together with a pip clamp which extended its life about 2 months. How hard could it be to develop a system that doesn't leak under normal household water pressure? I do like what it does to the water but come on, make the thing last more than a couple of months. Arghhh....more info
  • Pure and simple
I picked up one of these (FM3333) for my office. One thing that caught my eye is that it included a 2-stage filter. We have used a single-stage on-tap filter by another maker in the past, but it clogged up too quickly, so having a filter that could trap sediment was an important consideration.

The filter holder installed on the faucet effortlessly without any tools. Our faucet has exterior screw threads, so the faucet adapter included in the package wasn't needed.

The filter itself took a little extra effort to insert into the filter holder. It seemed to be a very tight fit (but not an improper fit).

Filtered water comes out the bottom not really in a stream or a spray, but somewhere in between. It comes out at a slower rate than unfiltered, but I expected that. It's an adequate rate, not a trickle by any means.

Controlling the filter couldn't be simpler or more pleasant. Tip it backwards to bypass the filter, tilt it straight up again to filter again. The tilting action feels very smooth, no feeling of cheap-plastic friction.

Another nice feature is the gauge that shows roughly how much use is left before the filter needs to be changed. It's purely mechanical, no batteries necessary.

I recommend the Pur without hesitation....more info
  • Awesome
Shipping was fast Product works great. Just have to remember the trick to getting out the old filter....more info
  • Bad Choice
I am in agreement with the other individuals that are experiencing the cracked housing. Less than two months use and it's cracked and leaking. Combine that with the price of the filters and this entire system is a waste of money. You can buy a countertop unit by another manufacturer and get a years use out of it for what this thing will cost you in a few months. For the price of the filters, the faucet unit should be free.I am really disappointed in PUR and I won't ever consider their product again. I am NOT going to buy another housing and continue this farce any longer. ...more info
  • Faucet Mount Cracked
The Faucet Mount was purchased in early May. By mid September the Faucet Mount had severely cracked in no less then two places, water sprayed out of the sides, rendering the item completely useless. It is noted that during this time period, considerable money was saved, and an individual's environmental footprint was reduced, because bottled water was not purchased.

The Mount was properly installed, and was only used while the facet was in the position for cold water use. During the 3-4 months of use, the Faucet Mount worked well, and one could clearly tell the difference between the filtered and unfiltered water. The replaceable filter, did have a life of about two months (which was stated by the manufacturer). Individual replaceable filters are about half the cost of the Faucet Mount Filter.

However, the short life of the housing unit of the Faucet Mount, which is plastic, reveals that the overall craftsmanship is shoddy, and long-term durability was not a factor in design.

This item gets a low rating mainly because of the lack of long-term durability. ...more info
  • Broke after 3 months, filters last just a few weeks
Our house has hard water, so we purchased the PUR Plus Faucet Filtration System in hopes of making our water taste better. It succeeded in that, and that alone.

The filter goes bad FAST. We bought our first new filter after about 10 weeks of use (we're just 2 people and we're rarely home).

About a week after our new filter was in place, the unit developed a leak from the indicator window. This wasn't so bad.

Then came the spraying! A near-inch long crack appeared on the front, and it sprays water in a horizontal column at the user!

    Other negatives:
*As the filter reaches the end of its lifespan, water comes out of the unit slower.. and sloooweer.

*The filter completely stops working when the filter is considered "done" by the unit. I found this most ridiculous of all: it just STOPS letting you use it when it decides the filter's no good! Who says the filter is no good? An internal mechanism that knows nothing about the quality of the water going through it? This is obviously a ploy to sell more filters!

    Avoid this water filter!...more info
  • Surprised at the Bad reviews
I'm surprised at all the low ratings that this device has gotten. I suppose I'm an easy to please fellow but if this Pur water filter lasts me 6 months, I will believe that I have gotten my moneys worth. I live in the city and it is tiresome lugging around gallon bottles of water from the store. I found myself rationing water because I did not want to go to the store.

One filter lasts me a good 2-3 months, easily. I really only use it for drinking, sometimes for ramen noodles. It has saved me many a trip to the store and has been easy on the pocket book. $12 a filter which does hundreds of gallons of water or $1.25/gal for distilled water (buying spring i.e. tap, is a great mystery to me). If the unit breaks, I'll buy another one. It's ~$25 and it comes with a filter. Puts it at around $13 for the head unit. Just pretend a filter costs $3-$4 bucks extra and get another faucet mount when it breaks.

I've always been annoyed at the slow rate of the gravity filtered purifiers like the pitchers. Way too slow, empties way too fast, and is a pain when you find yourself wanting a glass of water and you've found that the pitcher is empty. I'll take the added costs of replacing the faucet mount. ...more info
  • Housing Cracks Quickly
We are only on our second filter in the until and already the housing has several cracks. One next to the replacement indicator window (leaking), another where the unit mounts to the faucet. This unit is so easy compared to some Brits units (really, it is), but having to replace the unit once a year is ridiculous. We'll be getting another Brita....more info
  • Much better than Tap water .. better tasting.
I didnt expected to be this easy.. to make it work. The setup is real easy and its works just fine. It is better than many more expensive filters out there, and I have tried a few of them. The instruction sheets came both in English and Spanish, very well done, along wiht the washers, no missing parts. The two stage filter is very good. If you want it to last more time just dont filter hot water with this one....more info
  • super-satisfied
i wanted to stop using bottled water containers and i felt that this filtration system might be the way to go. i have not been disappointed. the water coming thru the filter is fresh and tastes great. i've compared the filtered water with non-filtered taps in my house and you can really tell the difference....more info
  • Go with a 3 stage filter
This is my third Pur water filter system. My first was a fixed horizontal mount which over time would shoot a stream of water from the base that mounts to the faucet. This was not a design flaw as I had bumped it several times during the duration of operation.

Installation was simple; didn't need the additional hardware that came with filter. It was necessary though to push with some effort to secure the bottom cover over the filter cartridge proper, so expect that and removing it (the filter cartridge) was difficult.

I agree with the other reviewer that the motion of turning the filter from the horizontal to vertical seems smooth and precise; however, I found it awkward to operate even though I am left handed. You would have to hold the container in your left hand and operate the filter with your right hand. I found the fixed position filter like the FM-9400 easier to use by turning the switch on these similar models with your right hand while holding the container you are filling with your left hand.

The filter water tastes great as here in Westport our quality of water does have a "skunkie" taste from time to time and the Pur system does an excellent job of removing any such taste; but I would go with a three stage filter.

I recommend a deep sink or high arch faucet as I have some difficulty filling a 1 liter plastic bottle. Again it is imperative not to bump the apparatus as this will lead to leaks.

VERY IMPORTANT: DO NOT RUN HOT WATER THROUGH THE FILTER AS THIS WILL RUIN THE FILTER.

You can use a three stage filter cartage on this model.

Have only had the filter in use for three days now (Feb 14th)and will report back if any leaks occur which other reviewers have mentioned.

When I write a review I take into account the price of the item I'm reviewing in comparison to similar items of same within in it's price group. If you cross shop between Amazon and "the Bay" you'll find some great deals ...more info
  • Works great... for a few months
I got one of these as my unfiltered water is totally undrinkable. None of the many washers it came with fitted my sink so I bought one that would (then noticed that if you call them they will sort that for you). It installed no problems after that. The water tastes so much better and comes out at a decent rate. I really like the way you twist it to switch between filtered and unfiltered, very simple and unbreakable.

However, after less than 3 months I noticed a crack in the back of the housing of the fiter near the top. It gradually got bigger, then another one developed and they both started leaking. Now I get 2 big arcs of water coming out the side every time I use the filter. The connector with the tap leaks a bit too but I think that is just that it has worked loose. I would tighten it but what's the point as it's leaking more elsewhere?! I called PUR to complain and they were really nice, sent me a voucher for a replacement. Think I am going to try a chrome model, fingers crossed that won't crack as easily......more info
  • Filters good, but the faucet housings crack!
These filters do a great job of clearing up sediment in the water, and eliminating chemical taste. However, I've had two of the housings crack in the last year. The first was within an in-store 30 day warranty, so I simply did a switch at Lowes. The second cracked as well after four months, Lowes would not replace it. This week I'll see if the manufacturer will provide a solution. TR...more info
  • Sprung two leaks
I had owned one before for years and it worked great. After it got misplaced after a move, I purchased this one. Worked fine for about a month and then it sprung a leak in two places. ...more info
  • Short lifespan
I had this product a few months and it developed cracks in the main cylinder. Eventually it started spraying water all over. I recommend STAYING AWAY from this product....more info
  • Nice Non leaky, easy to use filter
After using another brand for a while (it leaked and the valve was somewhat inconvenient to turn) I found this filter to be so much nicer, with absolutely no leaks, and very convenient to turn on and off. The water seems to taste a little better too....more info
