Customer Reviews:

  • Fun, but straying
This game rocks, but it does stray away from the original gameplay. The guns are the best though, and the game looks cool in the first-person view, and makes it more challenging. I have beaten this game over 20 times now, but I still find it hard to be in FPS view and on hardest mode. This way even the weakest enemy can get you from behind or the sides, as you cannot see there. This mode makes it funner for the ones who have been complaining....more info
  • Great but not their ussual style
I am a big fan of the series and I think this game is great, but there is a problem. This game strays away from the usual comedic style of the sries, and it is a little short but otherwise game and it's worth playing, and if your not a big fan of the series i recommend renting it....more info
  • A Different Chapter in the Ratchet & Clank Saga...
Like anyone else interested enough to write a Ratchet & Clank I eagerly anticipated the 4th installment; Ratchet Deadlocked... I like the game but it is considerably different than the other Ratchet titles in terms of game play and back ground story... This time, during single player mode, Clank is in a background or 'Mission Engineer'... this change reminds me of the Metal Gear Solid games... the game play is exceptionally fast and furious... the use of troop droids while in combat adds to the intensity... there seems to be lees of a story board to this title... there are several modes of team play now... a new one being Side-by-Side or Cooperative Missions... there also is a multi player mode that reminds me of Quake or Unreal style game play... over all I'm appreciative of there being a new Ratchet title but it is taking some getting used too and is slowly growing on me... Don't get me wrong, it's just that Up your Arsenal is a tough act to follow......more info
  • Ratchet: Deadlocked
I personally have loved all the previous Ratchet and Clank games with their destruction, humor, and amazing gameplay, but this one is nothing like the previous games.

For one thing, this game is not an adventure game like the others, it is, like many people have said; a gladiator game. Yes, you do get to explore the levels (meaning you are not exactly trapped in an arena the whole time as you might have thought), but there is no strategy in the game. To beat the levels, all you have to do is mindlessly shoot-up and bash away your opponents. Don't get me wrong, I love the gladiator fights, for they were in all the previous games, and they were extremely fun, but I was always glad to finish them and go back to the adventure, but in this game, gladiator fights is all you've got.

Now, the weapon arsenal in this game is much better than in the previous game! You can customize your weapons to your satisfaction! In this game, you are also provided with different weapons, such as the "Dual Vipers" that you see Ratchet holding on the cover-page. You are also provided with two upgradable robots (yes, they are the ones you see on the cover) which help you defeat your enemies! Since you don't get to have Clank with you, you are given these robots instead of him, and they are great!

The gameplay and graphics in this game beats the ones in all the other games, for the destruction is more detailed than ever! The gameplay is also very good as well! You can do back-flips and roll-overs to avoid getting shot by incoming bullets! The gameplay and graphics in this game definetly deserve an "A+"!

The humor in this game is as good as ever! Just like the previous Ratchet games, this game is filled with loads of humor to keep you laughing your head off! Also, when in the gladiator fights, you the commentary people throw a few funny jokes every while and then, and they don't repeat the same jokes over-and-over again like in some wrestling games I have played.

Overall, this game is a great game, but as I have said before, I didn't exactly like the fact that this game barely has any adventure, but it is still a very great game! If the game had some more adventure, it would have been the perfect game! For people who like Unreal games, this game is for you!

    A well recommended game!

Rating? I give it a 9.1/10, because the lack of adventure was quite a major flaw.

Additional recommendations? Rent it first, and play it, and see if you like it, because I personally liked it, but it depends on what person is playing it.

  • The End of Ratchet and Clank
Ratchet Deadlocked is an awesome game! It's also very funny and has exciting gameplay with great graphics. However it is short. Insomniac Games will make the next game for PS3. But it won't be Ratchet and Clank. It's going to be a sci-fi FPS game which means Ratchet Deadlocked is the last game of the series....more info
  • Not Worth Buying
I was sadly disappointed in the game, and as a huge R&C fan, I still bought it. One of my favorite parts about the other games was exploring the different worlds and the adventure themes. In this one, all you get is the endless arena battles. I feel like the game lost its element of excitement and adventure. The new guns were interesting and I especially liked the napalm mod, but the music and limited space are very annoying. Also, the controls are altered, which really confused me at the start. The humor has changed into more of an adult type. I used to let my little sister watch the other R&C's, but I am nervous about having her taking in all the language and ruthlessness of this one. Once you get used to the new controls, the boring music, the blatant humor, and the monotonous arena battles, I guess the game is okay. Still better than the other games out there, but I expected better quality from Ratchet....more info
  • One Word: AMAZING
This game is freaking awesome. I just got it today and wow, I was impressed. The levels are absolutely huge and it there are different types of difficulty for the game so thats good for people who want a challenge. The vehicles are spectular as well as the game and you will have a blast blowing up anything in sight. The weapons are much better than the previous versions of the game too and they have different mods. It also has online like UYA. Well, see you online! ...more info
  • Fun Ratchet World, Nice Co-Op Gameplay
We really love the Ratchet and Clank series of games, with the gameplay, humor and general mayhem. Deadlocked is NOT an adventure game like the others - it's a gladiator combat game. You don't even have Clank with you for most of the game.

It's not that this game is "bad" - but it's different. I really did like the whole exploring-worlds theme of the previous games. The gladiator matches in those were interesting diversions but I was always happy when they were over. In this game, that's all that you get. You go from arena to arena, mindlessly bashing away at enemies and trying to stay alive.

There are all sorts of mini-games that you unlock along the way - hoverbike races involving traditional follow-the-circles, shooting games, flying games, and much more. The humor is still quite fun, although it's now a very odd mix of very adult humor and very kiddy humor. The game is rated Teen so the adult humor is reasonably OK I suppose, depending on how protective you are of younger teens.

The weapons upgrades are as usual amazingly fun - and you get to have "mods" to your weapons like acid and napalm to customise them to your liking. You can do all sorts of mixes and matches to get just the feel that you want.

The graphics are of good quality - I've always enjoyed the graphic style of the Ratchet and Clank games so this provides more of the same. The sound is reasonably good, although we do find some really repetitive, annoying tracks in there. We also had the game completely freeze up on us a few times. Maybe it needed just a little more QA before it was released.

The multiplayer modes are a really nice extension of the game. I really enjoy playing a game with a friend, so anything with co-op in it is great.

I suppose on the up side that if this had not come out, we would have just been sitting here twiddling our thumbs until the next "real" release of Ratchet and Clank came out. So in that sense, I'm really happy to have this out as filler, to keep us busy until then. We definitely ran out to grab this as soon as it was released, even though it wasn't (as far as we were concerned) a fully fledged Ratchet and Clank game to plow through.

    Well Recommended!

    Rating? 4/5...more info
  • GREAT GAME
The fourth Ratchet and Clank video game is coming, but Clank is nowhere to be found.
The new Ratchet and Clank is called Ratchet: Deadlocked. The story line in Ratchet: Deadlocked has Ratchet and Clank captured and forced to participate in an underground reality combat sport show. The reality show features captured heroes fighting for their lives against a deadly gang of fighters. The show is run by a crazy media tycoon, Gleeman Vox, who intends to use Ratchet and Clank as his next contestants.
Because of the collar attached to Ratchet's neck, he can't do anything Vox doesn't want him to do, or he would kill Ratchet instantly. To keep him and his friends alive, Ratchet has to participate in the games and increase the show's ratings with his incredible victories. The goal of this game is to break free of Vox's control, get rid of the deadly collar attached to Ratchet's neck, and bring down Vox's huge network.
Ratchet: Deadlocked has many new features such as more freedom for your mission choices; co-op game play in both single and multi-player story modes; a new set of weapons; medals; dread points; squad-based battles; and many more! The squad-based battles allow you to command a group of allied bots in both single and multiplayer game modes. Each bot has a different personality and a customization feature which allows you to change their body parts and textures.
Another key difference from the previous Ratchet and Clanks' game play is that you will not be using Clank. This is because he will be serving as the mission engineer. However, he will provide information and monitor your progress throughout the missions.
The new weapons in Ratchet: Deadlocked are better than ever. The main new feature in the weapon system is the ability to choose how your weapons are upgraded - both numerically and functionally. This new feature allows 1000's of possible weapon combinations to create the largest variety of Ratchet and Clank weapons ever before!
You can collect dread points and medals by beating missions. Dread points and medals are needed in order to unlock new planets, each planet offering new missions, challenges, and enemies. The first planet with actual missions is called Catacrom IV. The planet is filled with zombie robots which come out of the ground to attack you. The best feature about the zombies is that when they get torn apart and have their body parts scattered everywhere, they keep attacking you.
There are many new missions in this Ratchet and Clank. The first few missions are very simple. These missions are basically tutorials on how to use the game. As the game progresses, the missions get much more difficult. In some of the later missions, you can race hoverbikes, capture control points, destroy key targets, clear areas of enemies, and much, much more. The missions are never the same and the order of them keeps the game fun and interesting. Also, the missions usually last a few minutes, so you probably won't get bored with a single mission. Many missions are optional, but still very fun. Plus, the more missions you do, the more bolts ($ in the Ratchet and Clank world) you collect.
To sum up, this is a great game and I would highly recommend it to anyone who liked the previous Ratchet and Clank games or likes action adventure games....more info
  • Reality TV at its best.
The Ratchet and Clank series certainly has evolved. The first two games were platformers with heavy running and gunning elements. The third game threw out the platforming elements for the most part, turning it into an action game with limited platforming elements. And it also introduced a new element, Annihilation Nation. And that was basically just a series of boss battles and free-for-alls with very dangerous platforming thrown in here and there that let you choose your challenges and battles. Apparently someone got the bright idea to make an entire game out of Annihilation Nation, because that's EXACTLY what Deadlocked is. An entire game of Annihilation Nation.

In traditional Ratchet and Clank manner, the plot is both wacky and simple (and a bit humorous). A crazed TV executive is kidnapping superheroes and forcing them to fight in tournament death-matches. A bit clich®¶' but definitely fun and exciting for a premise. Early on you are introduced to a simple interface for accessing missions in whichever order you wish as you unlock them, and upgrading your weapons and armor (very similar to the starship of Ratchet and Clank 3).

Actually, the game feels more like a cartoonish squad-based first-person shooter than anything else, albeit limited in the squad. You see, the whole game can be played cooperatively, and when you go solo you get two funny robots to follow you around and do your bidding in simple ways (they can lower zip-lines, turn bolts, and protect each other, as well as blasting enemies and repairing each other). And since the missions are all very short, and the game has multiple difficulty levels which can be adjusted any time you aren't actually in a mission, the game has an extremely low frustration factor.

The real fun of this game is of course the action. As your weapons get upgraded and modded (you can add electroshock and freezing to any weapon among other things), and more and more enemies attack you all at once, the action gets truly INSANE. Truly, this game just might have the most frantic battles of any I have ever played, as enemies constantly attack in wave after wave and are instantly blown to bits in massive explosions of firepower. In the later levels, this game can get very loud indeed.

It's not all fun and games though. This game does have flaws. First of all, it's rather on the short side. While it does have replay value like the previous game, encouraging you to replay the game with upgraded weapons and higher difficulty, it would have been nice to have a bit more game to play through with more of a climax. And the plot itself just isn't all that interesting after the initial setup. There simply aren't any surprises in this game, as you just play through level after level with simple throw-the-switches and blow-the-devices-and-bosses objectives. While your robot pals are kind of fun in the things they say, they say the same things over and over. And the commentators. OH...GOOD...GRIEF! They are supposed to be annoying. I understand that. But they are SO ANNOYING! And most of the cut scenes seem to be them saying stupid stuff. And during the battles, they keep saying the same stupid annoying lines over and over and over and over....are we annoyed yet? Honestly, this game would gain a star if the two annoying commentators were axed. Oh, and while I'm discussing flaws, why is there no energy whip weapon? Some very cool weapons were eliminated from the previous game and replaced. And if you ask me, the weapons while passable, simply aren't as good as in the last game.

And lastly, the lack of variety includes playing every level solo except for your bots (unless you are in cooperative mode). With all those OTHER heroes kidnapped, at the start of the game I was really hoping for some cooperative action with other characters ala Jak and Daxter. But alas... no. And while the vehicle segments do break up the action on foot here and there, this game just could have used some more variety.

If you loved Annihilation Nation and couldn't get enough, go ahead and buy this game. If you are a Ratchet completist and gotta have 'em all go ahead and buy this game. If you just kinda like the series you may want to rent. Personally I just can't get enough of this kind of game. I bought it. :)...more info
  • Another fine Ratchet game
Ratchet and Clank has grown into one of my all time favorite video game series. The gameplay is always fun, the characters, story, and humor are always sharp, and it's just damn fun to blow stuff up.

Be warned though that this game is slightly different than the others in the series. There's still the cool weaponry and hyper action, still a fun attitude. But Deadlocked is a gladiator / combat mission kind of game with very little action-platform aspects. That means there's more fighting and less of everything else. Since I like a little more a/p, I prefer the previous R&C games, but it's still a blast.

Speaking of blasting, as usual you're loaded down with tons of cool weapons. And there's four different vehicles. There's also a couple of combat droids that you command in one player mode. There's a lot of strategy in the game, so it's not just blasting. It's blasting skillfully. The two player co-op mode is terrific fun to play with a friend.

My only complaint is the loss of Conquest mode in the versus game. I really liked that. It also made two player versus more playable. But I prefer co-op mode with two players anyway.

A must for action fans. Especially if they've got a good sense of humor....more info
  • Rachet and Clank By Alex D
Why would you like Ratchet and Clank? You would like it because it is the most awesome game of the year. You will keep on playing it and playing it with your friends and maybe even with your mom and dad. The motto of this game is `'in this battle only one will survive''. Control Ratchet and his friends to successfully take down an evil alien media show caster and his evil empire. It will take require you to perform and strategize at your max. Now go destroy some evil alien media maniac to save the day. If you have played all the Ratchet and Clank games then you will love this one. Get in the drivers seat of the new playable vehicles like the all terrain land stalker, the speedy hover bike and the devastating puma. Try all the all new weapon mode system to make the best weapon possible. Customise your weapons arsenal with virtually limitless combinations. This is just a taste of the game. Throughout the missions there is also a story you can follow and you also get two fighter robots at your side which you can customize. They are always at your side while you are battling the Galaxies most feared fighters. If you like fantasy shooting game, I guaranty that you'll like this amazing game. I also suggest you buy the other Ratchet and Clank games for unlimited fighting action. If you what the game to be easier or harder just switch the difficulty level. It starts from couch potato to exterminator. If you're looking for action I suggest you buy this. This game is raided T for teen....more info

  • An Average Game That Only Die-Hard Fans Should Check Out.
Ratchet: Deadlocked is a disappointment to be perfectly honest. Having loved Jet Force Gemini I was hoping for this game to really be on par with it.

The game's main problem stems from the fact that the levels are designed in arena like areas filled with enemies and often a 'go to/kill that/push that' objective, then after beating that area you move onto the next area and do it again and so on. A few times the level will change things up and put you in a vehicle or put you on a time limit or score limit but often the game is simply doing one thing over and over again and once you find that right combination of weapon modification the difficulty and repetitiveness just becomes repetitive boredom. This game is apparently a huge departure from all the other Ratchet & Clank games so I believe this game is the black sheep of the franchise.

However, the game is not a complete failure, its' humor, both spoken and visual, are absolutely hilarious! Listening to the chatter of your gun drones and the Newscasters was top notch shtick. The graphics put on a great show with the PS2's hardware with some levels being absolutely gorgeous. The weapons are fun and chaotic to use as well as explore with different combinations and experience.

My experience in the game's multi-player has been inconsistent. At the very worst, it is absolute trash and at the very best it has been, to a degree, enjoyable. My first game was a 4 vs 4 Capture the Flag Match and all weapons and vehicles were turned off except the Sniper Rifle, basically an instant-kill match. My second was a 3 vs 3 Capture the Flag, again instant-kill. I hate instant-kill sniper matches, because you'll get killed by someone halfway across the map without ever seeing him or having the option to fight back and I was disappointed to observe that about half the online matches are the same. My third match was a 3 vs 3 Team death match with vehicles and all weapons. Very very enjoyable, though honestly nothing special.

I don't really recommend the game for non-die hard fans, though pock marked with some fun, it's of average quality and not worth your time. Unless you're really strapped for an online shooter game, because there are better alternatives....more info
  • Ratchet Deadlocked
Ratchet Deadlocked is a shooter game. Unlike all the previous games in the series, it's just about shooting the crap out of everything in sight. The cut scenes are the best I've seen in any R&C game, probably because they are so needed to smooth out the endless string of arena battles. While this game takes away the platformer aspect of the series, it features the best Graphics, weapons and gameplay on a PS2 for the whole series. Definitely worth whatever great price amazon is selling it for now....more info

  • Ratchet goes to the Colloseum
First and foremost, I absolutely love the R & C series. Ratchet himself is cute-but-not-too-cute, just butch enough to carry off his hardshooting lifestyle.

Sony must have found a lot of positive feedback about the arena battles from previous games in the series, because as others say, Deadlocked is mostly that.

There are two major areas to go - one is a shuttle to the arena, two is a shuttle to whichever planetary quest you're currently on. Two is still very much dodge and shoot, not as inventive and expansive as the earlier games, and you get the feeling that Deadlocked is rushing you. You're humming along and suddenly it's the last challenge and you're left wondering where all the game went. "Get moving and finish already!" you can almost hear it scream. Maybe it's a subleminal audio track.

Although the non-arena quests do offer some of what the former games had, they simply don't compare with their scope.

It is still great fun, though. I like the new weapons system and the fact that you can earn bolts quickly enough to get some serious firepower, unlike the earlier games where it took forever to buy and upgrade your hardware. At first I was annoyed that they had changed some of the controls (the first 3 worked essentially the same), but quickly got used to it. Also, I used the target-lock view instead of normal 3rd-person view for the first time and found myself preferring it (at least for Deadlocked).

So, should you buy? I suggest 'absolutely yes.' The humor is still there (although the announcer's comments can get repetive after you've played it through once), with one or two genuine laugh-out-loud moments, the weapons are great, the graphics are excellent, and the quests have some replay value. There are a few much more tolerable "race" type challenges, a hoverbike, a hovership and a dunebuggy, which is a good thing. I hate, hate, hate the races from previous games.

It's not as good as Up Your Arsenal, but then again, how could the Ratchet franchise top that?...more info

  • I'm with Lisa Shea on this one
Let me say that I love the Ratchet and Clank series. Each successive title in the series has added something new and fun to the game, while taking little, if anything, off the table. I hate to say it, but Deadlocked is the lone exception. While still a very fun game, I too was unhappy about being limited to Gladiator, arena combat. This was my least favorite, and least played, of the R&C games, with the very first one being a close second in the least fav. category. Personally, "Going Commando" and "Up your Arsenal" were far and away the two best games of the series. There was so much more variety in those two games. I just didn't like the fact that the platforming aspect was completely stripped out of "Deadlocked". Also, the number and variety of the weapons, the true stars of the games, were lacking in "Deadlocked". If you're a die-hard fan of the series, you'll enjoy "Deadlocked". Just don't expect it to live up to the lofty expectatations created by the previous entries....more info

  • Ratched: Gladiator Marathon would be a better name
Take Ratchet & Clank 3, remove Clank, take out the Hacker puzzles and all the platforming, then keep the 'siege' events and the gladiator moments in and then remove 10 of the weapons from the game, throw Ratchet into some fancy robo suit, remove most of the characters and make the game be all about restless killing, fewer boss fights, shorter main game, better multiplayer/online mode, improve the graphics ans sound, give it a whole lotta mods, make the weapons dreadfully expensive, and make Ratchet be kidnapped by a complete lunatic. What do you get? Ratchet: Deadlocked if you haven't found out already.

As I said before, the graphics have been dramatically improved. Ratchet looks a lot more lethal (look at the cover for a hint) and the arenas look a lot more realistic than before. Note: Realistic in a sorta "The arenas were more unrealistic than a fifteen year old SNES game" kind of way. The charactersalso look better. After a hugely realistic (riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight) look in the original (and the best), Ratchet going Dexter's Laboratory realistic (and dressed) in the second one (The third best) and then being a mix of the original and the second one (not very good) in the third one (the worst in the series), Ratchet has finally gone back to his original state of graphical quality (translated from nerd speak: like he looked in R&C1) AND has been improved in graphical quality (Translation: He looks better).

The sound is a bit like the last game (which I'm still trying to get over with)except better. The voices are the same with the SFX not changing but the music is a lot better. And like in the last two games, Ratchet sounds like say... Knuckles The Echidna at the age of 13.

In non-graphical and non-sound matters (translation: Something that doesn't have anything to do with graphics or sound), the game itself is a lot deeper than the last game (which was increasingly shallow with each and every play), but alot shorter. But hold it. Lenght is not what you wanna hear about right? It's the weapons. The pride of the Ratchet series since well... the FIRST ONE!!! First up is the wrench which can be upgraded from a wrench to a full on wrench on FIRE!!! Then there are loads of dual vipers, exterminating bomb launchers, devastating mass demolition super weapons ans such. Also, if you have played the last two games, you have perhaps found out that Ratchet 2 had dreadful, uninspired and just plain boring arenas but the 3rd had awesome arenas. This one is like the third, only better.

It was also a sad thing not to see Darla Gratch returning but Courtney Gears, Dr. Nefarious and Lawrence all make hilarious re-appearances.

  • good game ! didn't expect it to be this good .
I personally enjoyed this game . It was pretty good. Although the main gameplay is mainly more focused on action this time around , it still has some platforming, and a lot of variety. The story starts out with ratchet , clank , and big al (from the first and third games)all set out to find a certain hero named captain starshield, that has been missing for a long time. They hear he was last seen at a region of the galaxy called the shadow sector. They set out to find him , and when they get to the shadow sector ,their ship is attacked by a gruop of robots , and they are brought to a certain space station . Here, Ratchet is forced to compete in an illegal combat sport called dreadzone. This is an arena-style show were captured heroes fight different enemies and complete various challenges in order to win their freedom . This sport is headed by a man called gleeman vox, who is the founder of the show.To make sure that Ratchet and Clank don't escape, deadlock collars are put around their necks. These are deadly devices, that will explode if they become uncooperative, try to escape, or do anything that is against the rules. So Ratchet is forced to compete in this show, until he and clank can find a way to escape.

Now, there are a few changes to the game . First, it is focused more on action this time around , although there are still some platforming challenges here and there, so don't be discouraged . Secondly , Clank will not be on Ratchet's back anymore , and you won't get to control him . But don't worry , he will still be in the game .He will function as you mission control engineer , which monitors your progress through Dreadzone , and you'll still get to interact with him a lot .

Also , as compensation for Clank's "loss", you will get two combat bots that will fight alongside you. These things are great , and their AI is great , so they'll make any stupid mistakes that will really annoy you. they have about 3 different weapons, that they'll use of their own accord (don't worry about this , as they choose them pretty wisely , and not just randomly and in a stupid way ). They also have 1 special attack that's very strong , and they can use it when it's available , and they use it only when you command them to. besides that, they also have about 5 gadgets that you can tell them to use whenever you need to . Their gadgets are really cool , and they are things like creating a defensive shield aroung you or the other bot when you're completing a certain task , or throwing an EMP grenade at electronic devices to shut them down (However, you'll only get to use these gadgets at certain points, like in the previous games.)You can also customize your bots with different heads and paint jobs.

The weapons have also undergone a big change. This time you only have 10 weapons, but they are customizable. You can add tons of different mods to them . There are two types of mods:
alpha mods , and omega mods.
the omega mods add special qualities to your weapon , like the morph mod ,which turns enemies into animals, the insanity mod, which causes enemies to attack each other, and the naplam mod, which creats big pools of lava with each shot. The alpha mods just improve your weapons' performance, and they improve things like the ammo capacity of a weapon , the rate of fire of a weapon , etc.

Co-op mode has also been added , and you'll be able to play the entire story mode with a friend. This friend will replace your combat bots, and both you and he will have all the gadgets that your robots have. Speaking of multiplayer , versus mode and online mode have also returned. The vs. multiplayer inculdes 5 different mods , one of them being conquest mode, which is an improved mode of siege from the third game. Here , you have to capture more nodes than the opposing team , and if you hold a node long enough , you can get upgrades for it.

The only downside to this game is that some people might not like the fact that it is focused more on action this time , although that didn't bother me.

Overall this is a fun game , with lots of variety , great graphics, good weapon upgrading system, and great multiplayer modes. You can even choose the difficulty level , ranging from 1-5. I recommend this game to anyone....more info
  • worst ratchet and clank game ever
ratchet deadlocked is a good game but it just doesnt have what the other games have. In the other games you have a mission to try to save something and you go around planets finding coordinates for other planets and secret bolts and things like that. In deadlocked all you do is get transported from planet to planet and kill some bad guys or screw in some bolts to beat it. Pretty much every challenge is like this and it gets really boring. There is pretty much no story to it. The shooting and the guns are fun but it gets really boring and the whole time you are waiting for something good to happen. Most of the enemies you fight are the exact same robots so that gets old after a little bit too. Also, you dont have clank to make you be able to hover and go faster when youre walking around, all you get is the charge boots which are kind of annoying. I recommend that you dont get this game....more info

  • Endless arena battles
Take the previous Ratchet and Clank games, remove the game parts, string together all the arena battles, and this is what you get.

In addition, the weapon upgrade system has hit the point of overcomplication, and the controls don't seem as effortless as they were in the Ratchet and Clank games; something just isn't right with the way the analog stick maps to turn speed.

Great graphics, yes. But that's not enough at this late stage in the PS2's life....more info
  • Ratchet and Clank is short but sweet!
This is the easiest game in the R.A.C. series! it is short, but
it's about a story when Big (fat is more like it!) Al, Ratchet,
and Clank are forced to play a role in Dreadzone, a illegal co-
mbat show but Gleeman Vox, the founder of the game show force t-
hem to to go to over ten worlds to terminate the four Extermina-
tors, Shellshock, Reactor, Eviscerator, and Ace Hardlight, thou-
gh Vox still has faith in- uh just rent or buy! I want to tell
    you the six battles.

    King of the Leviators:
Place: Sarathos Swamp, the hellish world of icky stuff!
    Difficulty: Easy

    Shellshock:
Place: Dark Catherdal of Kronos, the dark side of Metropolis, w-
    ell, not Metropolis but dark!
    Difficulty: Easy

    Reactor:
Crusader Tournament, the Battledome near your pal's sanctuary.
    Difficulty: Easy

    Eviscerator:
    Vindictor Tournament, same
    Difficulty: Easy

    Ace Hardlight:
    Liberator Tournament, same
    Difficulty: Medium

    Vox:
    Battledome, same
    Difficulty: Easy, and Medium...

This is easy, and you don't die much, a very good game but I'm
telling you Vox is easy at the first round but in the last he's
got a little strength then enjoy the ending and Nefarious ending
    after the escape ending!

  • Ratchet: Deadlocked... A+
This game is really nice. Ratchet is captured to compete in an illegal game show run by Vox. Ive played through this game and there are both awesome qualities and some average things. If I could, I would have given this game 4.5 stars, but I like to round up.

    Pros:
You get these two bodyguards that you can customize.
Your weapons can really become personalized. There are all kinds of different mods. There are mods which are mainly elemental mods, such as acid, lava, shock and others. And there there are mods that improve your weapons, such as a faster firing rate, a larger impact, and other things.
This game has an excellent replay value, just as much as the other R&C games.
There are A LOT of jokes in this one, some parodies that many people will not catch.

    Cons:
If you didnt like the gameplay of the other R&C games, though it is improved here, you probably wont like this game.
Clank is not a playable character, now he is in the background helping you out....more info
  • Great, but one major problem
I was incredibly excited for the release of this game for I'm a big fan of the other Ratchet games. This is truly a great game. I picked the game up on 2 days ago and I've only put a few hours into it and I am extremely upset to say that I have already reached the last level. How upsetting! It could be that I am just incredible at the game but in more likely hood, Insomniac made the game to short and I was playing on the hardest level!! But don't let this discourage you, there is still much online gaming (Something I can;t take advantage of) and co-op mode. So I still reccomend picking up this game but be weary. ...more info
  • Verrrrrrrrrrrrrrry Disappointing
No ressemblance of the Ratchet & Clank games 1 thru 3. It's a great game with great graphics if all your into is short progressive battle challenges. I own and played the first three series. I COULDN'T WAIT for DEADLOCKED to come out......I counted the months. The first day it came out I purchased it. It took me only 20 hours to complete it whereas it took me 40-60 hours for R&C games 1 thru 3 at an equal level of challenge. Again, if your into battle challenges, get it....if you think your getting a R&C 1 thru 3 parity game you'll truly be disappointed. I'm still bummed....more info

  • boo yah
THis is an awesome game. It allows cooperative play with a friend for all the levels in the single player mode, enabling you to have much more fun with the exciting game. It also has a new weapon system, where instead of just buying and upgrading a gun, you actually get to customize it to your own liking. Furthermore, this is a great game and I'm definitely looking forward to getting it some time soon.

Mike Jones! Who? Mike Jones! Who? Mike Jones!
Back then, they didn't want it, now i'm hot they all want it....more info
  • If you like arena battles, you're all set.
I am really disappointed with this game (and I loved the other Ratchet & Clank games). This game just moves from one arena battle to the next (in the form of very small planets), so you don't get the adventures you do with the previous games. There is a cooperative mode where two players can play, but you need a big tv because it's like watching a couple of microbes run around....more info
  • A great game.
If you have played the other Ratchet & Clank games.
You will like this one too.
It's different though it's not a adventure game like the others.
    It is mostly combat based.
If you like blowing stuff up in the other games this has a lot of that as well.
A new feature is the change in weapons.
A weopon can be used with different mods.
Example A weopon that fires exploding bombs can have a
napom mod to explode napom on enemies
    shock mod to shock ememies
acid mod to cover enemies in acid
freeze mod to freeze enemies...more info

  • A True Ratchet & Clank game
I played this through three times when I got it, just so you know where I stand as far as this games goes.

    The Good:
    - Great weapons
    - Assistance robots help some
    - Good levels
    - It is a Ratchet and Clank game

    The Lousy:
    - The plot
    - Constant bombardment with arena missions.
    - The shield glove is too powerful
    - The turret glove is too powerful
    - I suck at Landstalker missions and did them on foot with the sniper rifle.

If you really dig Ratchet & Clank games, you have to buy this. It is part of the series 100% and shouldn't be missed. The plot is just as lousy as in R&C3 and the final boss battle, while hard, when you get the hang of it and defeat the shark man, it's a quick battle.

As for the turret and shield glove. I believe that on the second time around you could play the entire game using only those two weapons. And, in fact, I pretty much did on the third time around. When maxed out, you become a god-like lorax spreading death everywhere you look.

The racing side missions aren't too hard, nor are the space ship ones. I liked the robot zombies that dig out of the ground and the ability to change my suit's and my robot's colors without changing the specs.

This is a review of only the one player aspects of the game. I think it's a little too late to get an online game with this, but you never know.

And I, personally, didn't feel it was too short, compared to other games. It is the shortest Ratchet & Clank (or maybe Size Matters is.)...more info

  • Exciting, Fast-Paced, Short?!
This game is great for all ratchet fans, action fans, and those fans who play games like Soul Calibur or any game with a face-off. This game has all the intangibles, great action, humor, customizable guns that feel familiar to old Ratchet and Clank fans. The story line is simple but has some great twists. I would recomend fans who played 2 out of the previous 3 games start at a 3 star difficulty, other-wise you will fly by the game in under 8 hours. That is the big fault in this game, it is short. There are lots of worlds but the missions are basically shoot-em up and clear through enemies, which means you get hold of the game very quickly. That's probably why it is so fast. This game lacks nothing. Since, though, time is a big factor, this game to me is 4.5 stars....more info
