Elmo has impressive automatic stand up action keeps you going while he continues to giggle and say, "I got tickled". It has three modes of giggle action - Press its foot or belly and hear "You tickled Elmo." TI can go from standing to sitting. Then, it falls back, sits and stands straight up again - the whole time giggling away and flapping its right arm. Touch its belly again, and it sits and rolls from one side to the other. It ends up on his back, kicking his legs, flapping his arms and giggling with the words, "You did it again." It ends his hilarious giggle session by standing up and letting out a deep sigh. Though now that all is known, the obvious question is: Does T.M.X. Elmo deserve the hype?
When you first take him out of his box, T.M.X. Elmo doesn't seem all that grand. He looks after all, well, like Elmo. Covered in the soft red fur that one would expect from everyone's favorite Sesame Street character, T.M.X. Elmo stands an unimposing 14 inches tall. Even worse, he feels all hard and plasticy under his fur. But this Elmo is not meant for cuddles or hand holding or swaddling.
This Elmo is all about tickles.
Sit T.M.X. Elmo down and hit one of his three "tickle" spots. There's one under his chin, one on his belly, and one on top of his foot. Yes, this Elmo wiggles just like he did 10 years ago, but that's just the start. Elmo slaps his belly, falls forward with his butt sticking out, stands back up again only to topple backwards, kicks his legs over his belly, and then stands right back up, all while laughing hysterically.

His trademark voice builds into a fit of histrionics, endless snickers that drown out everything but an unintelligible cackle until even Elmo admits he has had too much.
T.M.X Elmo requires 6 AA batteries, which are included, although these wore down quickly in our review copy. Elmo also has an on/off switch, so the tickles can be brought to an end when more than just Elmo has had too much. He moves a lot and needs a little open space for the full performance, although he does use his arm to determine his orientation periodically and stand back up if nothing is in the way. He gets a little stuck on uneven surfaces but for the most part performs amazingly well on carpet. On hardwood floors, Elmo works, but he occasionally slams his eyes on the floor in a way that seems it should halt the show.
In the end, T.M.X. Elmo is undeniably a trooper. Early reviews show that this turbocharged version of Tickle Me Elmo will follow the stellar path enjoyed by his much simpler predecessor. --David Morel

Makes the whole room laugh The infectious laugh get to everyone. My daughter loves this toy, its a lot of fun. The only downside is that to get the x-tra special options, you have to position Elmo perfectly. Also, some of the positions are really complicated, so its really impossible to remember them. It makes an impression. I gave this toy last year to my 2-year-old granddaughter, whose household included a couple of turtles and cats. Never had she seen anything like Elmo, however, and she was simply terrified of him, even long after we had disabled and immobilized him. Moreover, the impression seems to have remained because, recently upon trying to renew her acquaintance with the curious creature, we found she was no more receptive of his attempts to entertain her. I guess the toy is potentially useful for encouraging children to love all creatures regardless of their faults and eccentricities. And the experience, in turn, may teach Elmo to be a bit less aggressive and overcompensating in his mannerisms in front of small children, some of whom, it's good to know, have not become so jaded by terrifying actions as to be insensitive to them. Red Scary Creature My baby cries EVERYTIME she sees the Elmo laughing.
The red hair fall off very easily, I have to vaccuum the ground whereever I put or play it. Very troublesome and not sanitary, what if the baby ate or swallowed the hair by accident?
You'll see what I am saying on the carpet where this Elmo stood because it leaves the RED marks very noticeably.

Must buy toy for boy or girl!!! This product is not only safe for your child it is fun and entertaining. The one I purchased a month ago is still running on the original batteries that the toy came with and it is played with on a daily basis. After three days, elmo could not roll over nor stand up.
Even changed completed new batteries, Elmo acted wired on the third tickle.

Funny, yes, durable, no My sister gave my daughter the TMX Elmo as a gift for her first birthday because she adores Elmo. The entire family was there at her party for Elmo's big debut, and I must say we were all laughing so hard we had tears in our eyes. Unfortunately my daughter is now the one crying because after 6 months of very limited use Elmo has stopped working. Frightening Experience My daughter recieved this doll as a gift for Easter last April. While the doll is a great toy and is extremely durable from what I can tell, my daughter (22 months old) is uterly terrified of it. We had to put it in the closet before she would even go into her bedroom (knowing it was in the toybox). We as her parents thought she would grow out of it since she was only 14 months when she got it, but she hasnt yet. I would definately see how your child reacts to such toys before purchasing them for small children.
It is a humorous to watch the little Elmo rolling across the floor, but not so funny to be cuddling the crying toddler afterwards.

Elmo really does tickle me! I haven't seen such a cute animated toy in ages. Rather heavy for a small child, but considering what must be inside to make him laugh, not bad.

Waste of money We don't buy fad toys but this was gifted to us. I thought he was cute. But there are several things I don't like about him. He takes 6 batteries! When he "talks" and he's wiggling the mechanical noise of him competes with his voice. His "tickle spots" are buttons that really you have to push pretty good if you are a little kid. If you play him on a hard surface than his kicking feet might startle your little one as it did mine. My child was concerned for Elmo lol, she thought there was something wrong with him when he fell over. The one we were given it seemed to have short outs...it would be going and then stop and lightly pushing on him he'd rev back into action. We exchanged him with a new one from the store, same issue. Nice design flaw. Overall, my child is kinda bored with him....more info

Infectious Laugh I brought Tickle Me Elmo for my 1 year old nephew. I think me and my sister (we're both in our late 20's) enjoy it more than my nephew does. Elmo's laugh is absolutely cute and infectious.
Realistically the toy is not worth what I paid for it. It's not made very well for $50 and Elmo could have at least had a t-shirt on. The red fur sheds and gets dirty very easily and doesn't come off to be washed.
In hindsight I probably would have passed on purchasing this item and purchased something educational from Leapfrog or V-Tech.

T.M.X. Elmo was hot but Elmo Live will be hotter There are many products that come out that seem to revolutionize the industry. The Tickle Me Elmo was one of these products. The TMX Elmo was a nice product but the next toy will revolutionize the toy industry. Elmo Live will be the hottest toy for this christmas and will be hard to find. I have been able to see the prototype in person and was amazed at what it could do. If you want to find it this holiday season good luck and I would suggest getting to it. Great for Adults Too I was one of the lucky few to buy a bunch of these the day they were released, then sold them for a hefty profit on eBay. I kept one for my daughter, and it drove me insane after about a day, so I took the batteries out.
It took her a few days to get over Elmo being paralyzed, but she's used to it now. He's not handicapped...he's "handy-capable".
When we have people over for drinks, and everyone is loosened up, I pop the batteries back in and Elmo causes people to laugh so hard their margaritas come out their noses....more info

Robot Elmo Our kids Love this toy! I, on the other hand, was a little disappointed. He's cute and funny, but not soft by any means. He is basically a robot covered in Elmo fur with no padding in between. And his left arm has Nothing in it and is sewn to his side. Why is this? He works great, just as detailed. But, for the price, he could be a little less robot like with some simple changes. My 3yr old daughter prefers her Guess What Elmo because she can carry him around like a baby, and he sings the Elmo's World theme song along with asking different questions every day. If I had to choose only one of these to buy, I would go with the Guess What Elmo for about $15 less than TMX Elmo....more info
Perfect for a 1 year old My brother got this TMX Elmo for my daughter last year for x-mas she had just turned 1. He went to over 8 different stores stood in lines for over hours to get it, but it was worth it. My daughter played with it from day one, she has dropped it thousands of time, and it still works, when he starts laughing and falling she immatates him and does the same, which has become a little dangerous, but she is having a good time. Great Toy but unreliable electronics It stopped working after one year of purchase. First thought it was the batteries but putting new batteries did not do anything. Tickle Me Elmo tickles me I bought this toy for my daughter that is in college. She has a challenging curriculum,is constantly studying and has little free time. I thought Tickle Me Elmo would be a great stress reliever for her. I was right!!! Tickle Me Elmo makes us all laugh, even her stoic father. Elmo's best laugh, the one that gets all of us laughing, is his last belly laugh. So far the toy has proven to be durable. Elmo was perfect for my 80 year old mother-in-law! I love this toy! My mother-in-law and father-in-law are semi home bound and love Elmo! Fabulous fun with Elmo! This is a great enhancement to the former Tickle Me Elmo! This Elmo is much more acrobatic and really goes through it's paces in a nice flowing style. More fun for adults! My 3 and 4 year old daughters received this for Christmas. I thought they'd love it...and they did for about 4 plays of it. Then it was old news and that has pretty much been the end of it. I think my adult friends have had more fun watching it and giggling along with it. It is not "cuddly" so my girls don't carry it around much. Once you have seen it go through it's paces - it is a bit boring and not much "fun" value for the price tag. Elderly laugh-in I purchased this Elmo for my invalid mother-in-law who is unable to do anything for herself. She doesn't have much to laugh about these days but she will laugh at this. Someone has to push the buttons as she is unable to do it. So when grandkids or great-grandkids come over, everyone has to try it out. And they all get a kick out of it.
The only drawback is the fabric, Elmo leaves red fuzzies everywhere. The fabric is too cheap.
And every once in a while, Elmo gets 'stuck' in a laugh and needs a little help getting going again.
