Customer Reviews:

  • very good product
Very good overall. Easy to user in a bread machine. Only sort of negative is that some of the grain in the bread can get into and between teeth....more info
  • Yeast packet bad/inactive, bread uninspiring.
Must have been bad luck. The yeast packet was bad/inactive. The bread did not bake correctly. It was just a partially stirred mess at the bottom of the baking pan in the bread machine. (I've seen this happen before. I don't think I can blame Hodgson Mill. Please comment if you know more about this phenomenon?) I tasted some of the quasi-baked bread and could tell that it would have been generally a good loaf - not a great bread, but decent. ...more info
  • Good bread mix
This bakes up great in my bread machine, and I love the texture and "crunch" this bread has....more info

I HAVE BEEN USING HODGSON BREAD MIX PRODUCTS SINCE I PURCHASED A BREAD MACHINE. I HAVE USED THE 9 GRAIN MIX,THE CARAWAY RYE,ACTUALLY ALL THE MIXES. I HAVE BEEN VERY SATISFIED WITH THESE PRODUCTS AND HAVE RE-ORDERED MANY TIME. ACTUALLY , IHAVE A SHIPMENT ON THE WAY. THEY ALWAYS ARRIVE INTACT IN GOOD CONDITION. I WILL CONTINUE ORDERING. • Yum!
I don't do many reviews so when a product inspires me enough to write one, you know it has to be good. This mix is over $3.50 a box in the only store in my area that carries it. This price for 6 boxes at Amazon is a steal! And the bread is absolutely excellent. The review saying it is too sweet is crazy...I actually add an extra tablespoon or two of honey for fun....more info
  • Easy to Make, Tastes Great
I've made this bread a couple of times and it is very easy to make since only warm water and butter is needed in addition to the boxed ingredients. Tastes great and I've used it for healthy sandwich bread; although, I have found it for less than $3 a box at the grocery store....more info
  • Great for a Bread Machine
I made a loaf last night in my bread machine. I put the setting on light crust and the bread came out perfect! Couldn't ask for anything more....more info
  • Nice fluffy, but way to sweet !!!
It`s basicly like toastbread, just sweeter. Don`t buy it, it isn`t the money worth !!!...more info
  • Absoutely WONDERFUL Bread
That a healthy bread can taste SOOOO good is a revelation in my house and this and other breads from the same Mill disappear as if by magic. No more store bought bread in this house! Because I am usually in a hurry, I mix the dough in the bread machine, then bake it in a regular pan. It makes such a big, beautiful loaf! I am truly hooked on the Hodgson Mill bread mixes and have tried them all with equal pleasure. You will not go wrong purchasing this item....more info
  • Received Wrong Mix
I ordered the 9 Grain Mix but received the European Cheese and Herb Mix. I should have sent it back but instead, I baked a loaf of the Cheese and Herb bread. My mistake. It baked nicely but the crust was tough and chewey and I was not impressed with the flavor....more info
  • Way better than most bread mixes
I had used Krusteaz for years (had a ton from Costco), but wish I ran out of that sooner. This bread has so much more flavor and texture, as others have noted. Also, it almost always comes out right, whereas I had more failures with the Krusteaz for whatever reason....more info
  • Excellent, Hearty Bread
For those of you who love a nice, hearty whole grain bread, I very much recommend Hodgson Mill's 9-Grain Bread Mix. It is a very chewy and filling bread that is great for sandwiches. The blend of nine whole grains come together to make complex tastes and textures that are rich and satisfying. Instructions for both bread machine and oven baked bread are included on the back of the box....more info
  • Hodgson Mill 9 Grain Bread Mix, 16-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 6)
Great product for bread makers this bread taste great just like a bakery. Easy to follow directions....more info
  • Great flavor, high rising loaf
This is one of the better bread machine mixes out there. Hodgson Mill has managed to provide us with some very fine products that don't contain a bunch of preservatives and great tasting loaves of bread.

They are one of the only ones that recommend using the whole wheat cycle for a box mix, and it works well. This may be the reason that some reviewer wound up with a bad loaf. Funny thing is, the first time I used it, I neglected to read the instructions and used the basic white setting on my bread machine and it still turned out pretty good.

I'll be ordering this mix on a regular basis....more info
  • Flavorful and incredibly easy
Very easy to bake. Produces a very flavorful dense loaf (that's the grain). You don't need a machine, I bake in the oven and get consistently great results with this product. ...more info
  • Hodgson Mill Bread Mix a Great Product
The Hodgson Mill Bread Mix I purchased on Amazon.com is wonderful. It works beautifully in my bread machine and the quality of the loaf is a-one. Yummy!...more info
  • Delicious, nutritious, versatile
Love these bread mixes; I use them for all my bread in my breadmaker. I like to add tons of extra ingredients for even more fiber: seeds, quinoa, oats, wheat germ, bran, walnuts. This makes a small, more dense loaf (don't add more than about 1/2 cup to 3/4 cup of extras)....more info
  • Hodgson Mill 9 Grain Bread Mix
Having fresh bread baking in my home is such a treat and being able to eat freshly baked whole grain bread is an added bonus....more info
  • Excellent Bread
But I do consider mixes of any kind to be expensive, so in the case of this bread mix I add more of my own flour to it and get two large loaves of bread instead of one. No need to double the yeast when you do this, just the water and oil. It makes using a mix like this much more economical, and it's still a great, tasty bread with different grain flavors that's home baked. ...more info
  • BLAND!
Yuck! This stuff has no flavor at all. I donated the other five boxes to a food bank....more info
