Customer Reviews:

  • Brownie-o-riffic!
This is the first Pure Bar I've ever tried (and the first raw food bar, for that matter), and I am amazed at how delicious it is. The bar is chewy, chocolatey, nutty, and just plain tasty! If you're looking for a healthy alternative to brownies and/or just want your chocolate fix, then buy a box of these and satisfy that sweet tooth!...more info
  • Price is way too high need to come down from $22
These are the best brownies that I've had and the best organic product I've tried. Unfortunately I will have to limit my purchases because their too expensive. These are organic and not cooked or processed. I would still rather pay more if I could afford it to buy these organic brownies. You'll definitely want to try. I hesitated to buy these but I'm glad I did. I expected some dry or dull tasting organic snack but their as good as real brownies just not as sugary but definitely sweet because of the natural sugar from the dates and organic agave nectar which has a lower glycemic count than sugar. Their very moist, sweet, but not sweet like a refined sugar. Package says certified usda organic so i'm hoping they are truely organic but I'm very wary even when they label them especially with some organic companies using unfiltered city water which is not safe and in some cases fluoridated. No thanks on the fluoride.

  • Exactly as Advertised
This bar is the closest thing I've ever experienced to eating a brownie fresh from the oven in a packaged food. I have no idea how the folks at Pure Bar managed to make a chocolate bar that tastes so much like baked goods, using only raw and living ingredients, but it's wonderful that they have, and I mean to buy several more cases. Any of the store bought brownies you've had won't satisfy you like this will - Entemanns and Hostess are not nearly as delicious and warm-tasting, and the health food and energy bars I've had that are chocolate flavored always end up tasting like wheat germ or oats. It's easy to carry, one bar fills me up, and as a chocolate fan, I am happy to see that Pure Bar uses raw cacao powder - the real deal, and not carob chocolate substitutes. You can definitely taste the difference. This particular Pure Bar product makes for the best tasting snackfood or dessert I've ever eaten out of a wrapper, and unless you're on a completely raw vegan diet, it's going to be better for you than whatever meal you ate just beforehand! If you like chocolate like I do, you're going to love this. It's a soft, gooey brownie, pure and simple, walnuts and all....more info

  • These Are Soooo Good!
I don't know how these would taste if one is used to eating junk foods and cooked foods, but I have been eating only raw foods for two months and these bars are really a special treat. The chocolate in them is as pleasing to me as any chocolate cake, brownie, or candy bar ever was when I used to eat junk foods - even more so because I know that they are healthy and I am truly satisfied once I am finished with the bar!...more info
  • Magnificent!
So hard to believe that these are good for you. Wish I had bought more. Chewy, tasty, and good enough to make you feel like you aren't missing anything by giving up gluten....more info
  • Try them with a little peanut butter!
I'm a big buyer of food bars, because I'm a college student and I don't have a lot of time to put together healthy meals during the week. After doing a lot of reading I've been gravitating more towards "Raw foods", and more specifically, "Raw Bars". I like Lara Bars, but sometimes I feel like they don't satisfy me enough, and most of the flavors I like have over 220 calories. I saw these Pure Chocolate Brownie bars in Lowe's, and decided to try them.

I tried all of the other flavors first, and I do really like the Apple Cinnamon and Chocolate Chip Trail Mix. The blueberry one was not very good, it didn't really taste like blueberries, and I couldn't figure out what I was tasting. It wasn't worth the 190 calories. Chocolate Brownie is by far, my favorite! I enjoy them alone, but I tried one with just a TINY bit of peanut butter spread on to it [and I mean, a tiny bit] and it was even better. It really tastes like a rich gooey brownie - and totally satisfies my chocolate craving. I babysit all day during the summer and it kills me to watch the kids enjoying their treats - but if I bring along one of these bars I don't feel like I'm missing out at all, I feel like they should be jealous of ME because the Pure Bars are that good!

I am however, taking off one star because of the price. I know most food bars are expensive, but these are two bucks at the grocery store, which isn't bad if you run in and buy like one...but if you decide to stock up and buy say, 5 or 10 of them, that's going to set you back anywhere between $10-$20. Definitely costs more than other bars, like Kashi or Lara bars....but they are great to have every so often.

    Love 'em!...more info
  • Has cross contamination problems. Processed in facility....
    Safety Information
Allergy Statement: This product is manufactured in a facility that processes foods that may contain peanuts, tree nuts, soy, dairy, wheat, or eggs. Product contains walnuts, almonds, and cashews. May contain pieces of nuts, shells or pits.

For those of us who have celiac disease (gluten problems) or wheat allergy the cross contamination issue is very real. The warning says it is created in a facility that processes wheat and other common allergens.

It looks good and sounds great until you read or notice the allergy warning. I just wanted to emphasize the cross contamination issue which is serious. That one point does not make it gluten free. ...more info

  • Weird smell, ok flavor.
I tried several of these bars, but I had to hold my breath to take a bite -- they smell terrible! Like vinegar or something. Most unpleasant. The taste isn't bad, but it ain't a chocolate brownie, I don't care what any of the other reviews say! ...more info

  • Simply great!
When I saw "Brownie Bar," I wondered what kind of flour it had, since it is also listed as gluten free. There is no flour. Yet you'd think you were eating a chewy brownie. Nutritionally it's very good without the use of anything artificial. While I rated another gluten free bar a very high "4," I'd have to give this one a full "5" rating. One very slight caution: I have not personally experienced this, but my wife noticed that these tended to produce some "lower GI" problems for her - kind of a laxative effect, to be polite. I've personally not had any difficulties, so we'll continue to order them for me. I can see where the ingredients might possibly cause such an effect in some, but doubt it would be an issue for most people. And I can also say that she was quite disappointed at her reaction to the bars because she loved them! I try to reserve a "5" rating for the best of the best, and this product gets the full "5."...more info
  • Not as good as described!
Described as almost as good as a brownie, I had expectations for a superb bar. And this one is way too far from tasting like brownie or being tasty to start with....more info
  • Delectable Delite!
This is a very tasty bar! I have tried almost every raw food bar on the market and this is definitly one of the best! It's not too heavy and tastes soooooooo good...have I mentioned it's yummy? LoL. ...more info
  • Definite chemical taste to them
I purchased a case of the chocolate and a case of the cherry. The cherry bars are WONDERFUL and I highly recommend them. The chocolate bars are horrid. There is a chemical smell and chemical taste coming from these bars which is troubling because they are supposed to be organic. Not sure if they are past the expiration date (just received them a few days ago) but its not something I can risk giving to my kids. Amazon will not let you return any food products (even if they are rotten) so take this in mind before you buy. ...more info
  • Pure Brownie Bar... Mostly Good
The product didn't taste like your typical brownie, but then again, it is a much healthier alternative to "junk food" brownies. I find the Pure Bar brownie to be an excellent alternative to the junk food variety. With the first batch I got, the texture was rather dense and chewy, as opposed to cake-like. However, the second batch must have been a little fresher, because they weren't quite as chewy. Wholesome ingredients and being a healthy alternative to typical junk food are what make Pure Chocolate Brownie Bars a four star product. This is more like a health food brownie. I won't give up Betty Crocker brownies entirely, but the Pure Bars will become a standard item in my pantry....more info
