Customer Reviews:

  • Awful!!
This bread is way too dry and crumbly to make a sandwich. I ended up crumbling the entire loaf and freezing for bread crumbs. Worse than rice bread. Take my advice, bake your own -- it's much better....more info
  • Ener-G Tapioca Loaf, Gluten Free
My wife is allergic to wheat products and we found Amazon.com and the Gluten Free products offered. Wow! She can eat sandwiches, pasta, cookies and fresh home-made pancakes again and it's wonderful... The easy to order and free shipping option is wonderful for us who are handicapped, and have trouble going to the grocery. The bread is less expensive than in the health food stores and the delivery to the door is the best. You save gas, time AND money while getting a GREAT TASTING product. Although it taste different than wheat products, it's a godsend! Thanks to all those who help produce products for those who need gluten free, wheat free products to enjoy life like everyone else. We strongly recommend this product and all the gluten free products listed on Amazon.com. We're looking for a tortilla recipe so that we can enjoy home made burritos, rollups and chicken wraps that we loved before she became allergic to wheat. Hope to see that on the list soon too! Rated a 10!Thanks....more info
  • Ener-G breads
My son is allergic to wheat and eggs so we use a lot of Ener-G Foods. This bread is one of the best if you're looking for something that little ones will like to make PB&J or grilled cheese sandwiches out of....more info
  • Pretty good toast
This is a heavier gluten free bread. It makes an excellent toast. I like it much better than the rice or corn gluten free breads. You really need a bread machine if you want something close to the wheat breads you bought at the store....more info
  • Gluten Free Bread
Since becoming gluten sensitive, I have looked for a decent product so I can have bread too. This fits the bill. I do find though that it is better is toasted a little....more info
  • The perfect portion-control size...
I love to make my grilled ham and cheese sandwiches with them. At first, I thought the size of the bread was too small, but they're perfect for portion control, and we ALL need that!...more info
  • Holy cow how do you eat this bread??
I love natural bread, but this stuff is not edible and fell apart in the toaster. Never had something so bland in my life. Try another brand.!...more info
  • Good, but inconsistent
Ener-G's tapioca loaf is by far their best "bread" product (the others being too dense and filling). That said, don't buy it expecting a soft, chewy slice. Both texture and taste do not resemble wheat bread, but I still find it a tasty alternative, especially toasted. Be forewarned: I have had quality issues with Ener-G. It seems that each loaf varies in size and texture -- some are large and airy, some are short and dense. Once I got a shipment of 6 loaves of stale rubber. I called the company and received a new shipment at no cost. Overall a good buy -- and a great deal compared to what you'd pay at the supermarket!...more info
  • Great to have on the shelf for bread anytime.
Okay, not the best tasting bread, but it's convenient and shelf-stable. I keep a few loaves for backup and in case of emergencies. Must be toasted. ...more info
  • Not quite what was expected
I've had tapioca bread at Disney that was soft and wonderful.. thought this would be the same.. its a bit stiffer, but tastes pretty good toasted with butter but still isn't quite as soft as I hoped it would be for sandwiches.

That said, its better than most rice breads I've had....more info
  • It makes yummy toast!
Ener-G tapioca bread makes wonderful toast. I'd be hard pressed to tell the difference between it and regular white bread toasted. Ener-G company is very allergy aware. We deal with severe multiple food allergies at our home to milk, egg, peanut, and sesame and gluten intolerance. The bread is OK right out of the bag, but toasted it is really good....more info
  • GOOD CHOICE FOR GLUTEN INTOLERANT PEOPLE
THE BEST BREAD FOR SANDWICHES, ETC IF YOU ARE GLUTEN INTOLERANT. MY DAD SAYS IT IS THE SOFTEST AND BEST TASTING FOR EVERYDAY USE. THIS BREAD IS ABOUT $5 A LOAF IN THE STORE SO PURCHASING FROM AMAZON IS THE BEST DEAL FOR PURCHASING IT WHEN YOU EAT IT EVERY DAY FOR LUNCH AND OR BREAKFAST....more info
  • Convenient option
This bread is certainly not the best or most "authentic"-tasting option available for those on the GF diet, especially in comparison to the range of fresh & frozen brands that can now be found in many stores as well as the excellent dough recipes that any home baker can whip up with relative ease. However, this bread DOES taste remarkably good when toasted for sandwiches or grilled cheese. This fact, coupled with each package's surprisingly long shelf life makes Ener-g bread a convenient and acceptable option, depending on your own taste and tolerance for breads that aren't soft and fluffy like you remember commercial wheat breads being. ...more info
