Customer Reviews:

  • 100% Horrible, Rebranded Junk
We bought two of this identical product labeled as Vicks, one for each child. Huge mistake! Both humidifiers, just over a year old, made so much noise from the fan that they regularly woke our kids before they were removed. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE PRODUCT. This same product was originally sold by Vicks and now has been relabeled by Honeywell. This is made from cheap plastic components and the design breeds mold accumulation that cannot be accessed or cleaned by any human standards. AVOID! This is a clear instance where the look and cost does not translate into product quality. I can only assume the others writing positive reviews have not owned this quite long enough to realize the enormous mistake they made in purchasing this product....more info
  • Great for watering the floor
Bought this attractive unit with high expectations only to be let down hard. This unit is completely non-functional unless you keep it in a bathtub and refill it twice a day. You know how gravity works right? Use your head and follow the flow path. Water on top -- air outlet on bottom. Set it on the floor the first time I used it and not more than 30 minutes later there was a large puddle from all of the water that comes spitting out of the outlet once the wick is saturated. There's nothing quiet about it. Maybe quiet compared to a box fan or a cheap dishwasher but its not something you'd want to share a room with. Further still the UV filtration is a total gimmick. If you open it you will find the tiny little bulb inside. Looks good if you've never seen an actual UV sterilizer. I have one for our aquarium and it must be 50 times larger. Positives? Well it sure did come in a pretty box and looked great before I turned it on....more info
  • Finally humidifier that works
I have gone through number of different make and models of humidifier last year that ranged from 10-80$ without satisfaction.
My wife and I had severe problem of sore-throats and skin dryness due to heat without humidity in my apartment complex.
This year I saw this unit at a retail shop and purchased it to give it a try. And it works great. It humidifies our room of 14X13 well enough. If you are looking for large town home or apartment humidifier look for the kenmore in sears. This one is good for single large size room
It does make some noise but not that much to bother our sleep. My wife is 8 month pregnant and she loves this thing. Sore throats are gone and our skins dont get infected so often.
The tank has to be refilled every day..so I agree with earlier reviewer about false information on going three nights without filling water. But no leakage. I like the way it looks and stands. It is important to follow instructions on the product- do not move the product with filled tank..the weight of water tank can cause problems and leakage from seals.
It has been 3 weeks and we are enjoying it so far......more info
  • Worst Humidifier I've Ever Owned
I've owned many humidifiers over the years and this one is by far the worst. I eventually returned it to the store and here are the reasons why: 1) Even on high, it struggled to keep my average size bedroom humid enough. 2) At least twice it started to leak from the back for absolutely no reason. Once when it happened, it wasn't even running. 3) The moist air coming from the bottom caused the carpet to be continually moist and eventually stinky, but maybe this was leakage I just wasn't seeing when it happened. 4) Almost every time I put the tank back after filling it, a spray/mist of water came out the front and again, onto the carpet. 5) The filters got smelly way faster than normal. I have nothing good to say about this humidifier and Honeywell should be ashamed of themselves for not testing their design better. I now own a Holmes humidifier....more info
  • Great humidifier
I originally bought this humidifier for my living room area but unless I planned on running it non-stop I don't think it would have done the job. However.... it works great in the bedroom. I love that it turns itself on and off during the night when it reaches a certain humidity level (my suggestion is to buy a hygrometer to put in the room so you can measure the RH since the humidifier doesn't have one). Also, the instruction book doesn't tell you this but you need to empty the water in the tank daily and if you don't plan on using it for a few days you should run it without any water to dry the filter. I didn't do that and when I turned it back on after 2 days of non-use, the smell was terrible and I had to throw out the filter. And it is pretty quiet. ...more info
  • Very nice unit!
I love this unit for several reasons! I live in a dry climate and so I used it all winter long with absolutely no problems at all. It's easy to maintain, I ran it all night and the only had to fill the tank every few days. It's easy to move, easy to clean. I recommended it to friends who have also purchased one for their home. I feel it's a great value....more info
  • Humidifies well but durability questionable
I've purchased 2 of these units. They humidify well, are pretty quiet, have a humidistat, are easy to refill, and last a full day running constantly. I also like the UV light feature that supposedly sanitizes the water. Durability is a question though. My first unit's fan started to fail (noisy) after about a year. Kaz CS replaced the unit although I had to pay for shipping to return the defective unit. The second unit I purchased is about 4 months old and is running fine. BTW I bought the second unit at Costco where it costs only $50 and includes 3 filters. ...more info
  • at least t looks good.
Lets start with the positive, it looks good and is relatively quiet. Now the bad. It has no auto shut off when out of water so it wastes energy. I never seems to full humidify a room half the rated size. It sprays water onto the floor and will cause your carpet to mildew if you are not careful and shut it down with water still in it. Since the unit does not shut down when out of water it will continue to dry out the filter and never re-saturate. Worse of all after only 5 weeks of limited use this unit has develop mold in the filter and in the filter holder. This health device is making me sick and will be going back. I only give the 2 star because it is decent looking and quiet.

  • We used to like this, but now know it's junk ... wish we could change it to 1 star!
We bought two of these in fall 06. After two months use, one of the units had a fan failure. It ran noisily for a few days prior to the failure, then ground to a halt. I called Kaz's customer service (the Honeywell name is licensed), and they agreed to send me a new one free. After five months use, the second unit failed in exactly the same way. This time, customer service required me to pay $20 for a new one to be shipped, and they required in each case the return of the defective one at my cost for shipping. They are simply NOT durable! We now have one in service, with the other as a backup since we anticipate a product failure this winter. One other thing: they are awkward to fill. The water chamber has a curved bottom so it will not sit flat in your sink. You have to balance it with one hand, and operate the faucet and put on the lid with the other. This design defect is SO obvious it makes you wonder how function followed form in product design. You also need a fairly deep sink or a tall spigot to fill it without tipping it and spilling. The filling problem is aggravating since you need to fill it at least twice daily. As far as ability to humidify, it works reasonably well, and is fairly quiet. But I wouldn't recommend this unit at all after living with it. ...more info
  • Happy with my purchase
After reading the previous reviewer's comments I was quite surprised. This humidifier changed the humidity in my entire 1 bedroom apartment from 48% to 60% in less than 1 hour. It only uses 1/2 of the tank of water over a 15-hr period. I didn't experience a browning tank or filter, although I filled the tank with filtered water purposefully so it wouldn't have to be cleaned as often. I hardly notice it when it cycles on because it is so quiet. It does cycle on and off but usually stays on for about 60-90 min and then off for the same amount of time. Perhaps the last reviewer didn't notice a change in humidity because his room was already at 60% - this is the upper limit the humidifier can reach according to the manufacturer. There are no wet spots on my floor, no condensation on the windows, and no white dust from metals in the water vapor. The only thing I was a little disappointed about is that if the fan is facing you, it can make you a little chilly, but not enough to really bother me. It was very easy to set up, and I love that it doesn't look like an awkward box sitting in the middle of the room. Would definitely recommend it without reservation. ...more info
  • Works Great For Us!
We were looking for a humidifier to use during the holiday season so that our fresh cut tree would last longer, and after researching several models decided on the Honeywell HCM-300T Quiet Care 3-Gallon UV Tower Humidifier. The humidifier works great, and the Tower design makes it one of the more attractive humidifiers out there. We were also fortunate in that when we purchased ours it was available directly from Amazon.com at a great price ($79.99) and qualified for free two day shipping....more info
