  • Quickly addicting little game
Fun, simple gameplay but still very challenging. Quite addicting. It has a rather amusing soundtrack and is a game you can play at about any age you can manage to hold a PSP. Highly recommended for relaxing or when stuck in long waiting rooms or trips. ...more info

  • little blobs, BIG FUN!!!
In locoroco, the object of the game is to guide a little singing blob through a colorful level by tilting th planet, eating fruits to make you bigger on the way, and bumping into black evil blobs to make them stop eating you.

Simple, yet, addicting, locoroco is the kinda game that makes you go, "five more minutes."

Dont be fooled by the art and singing! This is in no way, a childish game(maybe just a bit) this game requires percise timeing and nimble fingers.

BEWARE: listining to locoroco music may make you unintentionally singing it yourself. yes, its that addictive

A great game for anybody, locoroco is a must buy for a psp owner....more info
  • Loco Roco is innovative and fun, but it's charm wares off.
Loco Roco is one of the more interesting games for the PSP. You don't control the creatures, but you control their environment by tilting it left and right to make the little buggers flow. You can seperate and combine them. There are tons of secrets and mini-games and you can improve upon your score, but the game itself offers no challenge and loses its charm quickly. Good for a rental though.

    ---------

Pros: Innovative fun gameplay. Tons of secrets and unlockables. Mini-games and lots of levels. Great level design.

Cons: Gameplay lacks a challenge and loses it's charm quickly....more info

  • Addictive and Innovative
Simple yet extremely fun to play, LocoRoco is an excellent contender for the most innovative game of any platform this year (Okami is the only other contender in this area). With a unique graphics style and easy to use but difficult to master gameplay, LocoRoco at first seems easy. You just use the shoulder buttons to shift the world and help the LocoRocos escape the evil invaders. Then you try to find all the LocoRocos per level, all of the MuiMuis and other bonus items and this game suddenly becomes a lot harder. The brilliant thing is you can still advance even if you do not find all of these items. With fantastic music and gameplay, this game is rapidly becoming my favorite for the PSP.

  • Disgustingly Cute
After downloading a free, single stage demo from the PSP site, I fell in love with Loco Roco. It's very cute and very Japanese, with perky, happy songs that have no meaning to us, but are fun to listen to.

It's a very creative game, one of the things that I really like about it, as you're this little blob that runs around collecting blossoms and finding your friend "Mui Mui," who says "Mui Mui," which is brings a smile of accomplishment to my face and a neat feeling of hearing something cute.

It's a short game with only three worlds, and it's disappointingly easy, and even a novice gamer could go through it in a day or two without dying. At first I thought it was impossible to die, but once the game became harder, I found out that it's possible. The overall theme is the same: there's the cartoony happy generic stage, the ice stage, the jungle stage, the spooky stage and the spartan blue world, for lack of a better name.

It's worth the $30, and after a break, I intend to go back to it and start playing from the beginning. It's a game that's good for your mental health: there's no violence, the Miu Miu make you smile, and the music puts you in a good mood. Since I just bought my PSP, it's a pleasant and unique change from all the masculine shooting games that are predominant with the PSP....more info
  • Cute Overload!
I enjoy cute things as much as the next person, but too much of a good thing... That's probably the only gripe I have about this little gem. Historically, I've never been much for Japanese games, but this one is very addictive and fun. The graphics are simple but vibrant. The physics system seems dead on. Some of the levels aren't that challenging (especially if you are a hard core gamer). The high pitched giberish that the little locoroco's spew out can get on your nerves, but this really doesn't distract from the fun. I keep tilting my PSP as if it's a sixaxis controller, hoping that I can get a steeper angle and make those little rocos move faster (to no avail). Simple controls and a simple goal make this a great game for the whole family. ...more info
  • Fun comes from finding the hidden goodies.
LocoRoco is a strange game but very fun. It has a traditionally Japanese feel to the main objective of the game. Guide your LocoRoco blob and find the flowers to increase your size. Trek through the different worlds and find the flowers to eat, your friends "Mui Mui" and any hidden extras per levels. The game is simple enough to get through, but the fun comes in trying to gather all the hidden items and pieces in the game. It is addictive and maddening to know you just missed something and now you can't get back. Replay value is great due to this try to better your best aspect. It is by far one of the most fun games on PSP, that I've played. Another cool aspect is only using the L1 & R1 buttons to tilt the screen to move, it takes getting used to and can drive you crazy sometimes negotiating the obstacles. I highly recommend this game....more info

  • Unique and Interesting Game
Although I have only played with this game for a total of 3 hours, I feel qualified enough to give a review on this unique but interesting game. I won't give too many details on the game itself but more on how fun the game was to play and how difficult or easy it was to play.

At first I found the game difficult to play but that is because I didn't read the instructions on how to play. But even after reading the instructions it was a little difficult for me at first. Once I learned which buttons to use on my PSP, it got easier for me. I must say that I haven't seen a game quiet like this one. In the uniqueness factor, this game falls into the "very unique" category (in my humble opinion). It is also a very interesting game based on the uniqueness factor of the game. You can't have a uniqiue game without it being interesting!

Although I enjoyed playing this game, at times I felt like cussing at the PSP (frustration with the controls). It was addicting at the same time. Even though I got frustrated I never gave up. I usually would put the game aside for a few moments and then press on.

Overall this game is very fun and addicting for the user. I highly recommend this game for a different gaming experience!

  • Disappointed by the hype
I'm a big fan of video games: I own the Game Boy, PSP, NES, SNES, PS2, XBox360, etc. I like all types of games, from Final Fantasy to Ico to Doom to Super Bust-A-Move. I was really looking forward to this game, having heard about the unique gameplay elements and innovation.

I believe this is a game that's hard to judge, because the gameplay is so subjective. I would encourage anyone interested in this game to get their hands on it and play it before they buy it. If I had the chance to preplay it, I wouldn't have purchased it.

The gameplay is cute, the sounds and graphics lend themselves well to this style of game. But the premise is childish and not exactly that complicated. You can blow through this game in very little time. Now, true, you can always go back and try getting 100% of the stars and blobs in each level, but after you play each level a couple of times, it gets ridiculously repetitive.

This is one of those titles that, to me, would be great to borrow from a friend for a weekend. I haven't picked up this game since the day after I started playing it....more info

  • Annoyingly Addictive
I saw a review of this game on TechTV, which was so glowing that I had to check it out. When I recieved my copy of LocoRoco I was not surprised that the reviewers on TechTV suggested it would consume you. I had a grin just from the music alone, and it stayed until I finally gave it up for bed. I handed it over to my 10 year old cousin, who after playing for 20 minutes said, "This game is SO ANNOYING!" But that didn't stop him from playing another 40 minutes or so, smiling and making those familiar noises of aggravation when you miss a berry.

The gameplay is different than most popular games these days and takes a little getting used to, the graphics aren't mind-blowing, but LocoRoco packs a big personality punch, and is a clear indication that a game doesn't need to be another cookie cutter title just like the rest to capture you for hours. A must have....more info
  • Easy to Play - Hard to Master
This game is such an original piece of work. It goes right up there with Katamari Damacy and it's sequels. The Loco Roco are just so cute and cuddly. They are up against a dark, evil force. There are three buttons and that is all you need. This is what the Nintendo was supposed to have, but couldn't because they have a stupid dual screen set up. I hear all the time that Nintendo has the most original games. My friend brings a DS over, I ask him what is the best game for DS. He shows me a modified tetris game. There inlies the problem of the format of the DS. The PSP is a classic, albeit awesome widescreen format that allows for engaging and fun games. I bought my PSP for this game and I don't regret the purchase....more info
  • so cute it'll give you cavities!
LocoRoco is soo cute and the L & R triggers make this game easy on the hands. You collect house parts as you go, so you can build your own loco house, and as you get through the stages you find you friends *locoroco of different colors* and each friend sings a different tune. SO CUTE!! even my friends that aren't games *and pretty much suck at games* can play this and have fun with it. ...more info

  • Great, gorgeous fun for all ages
With all the games I play, there are few that are simple, delightful fun. Loco Roco definitely falls into this category. The game is easy to learn, has great replayability, and can really be enjoyed by all ages.

Here's the basics. You begin as a yellow, happy blob. When you use the shoulder buttons, you tilt the world left or right, making the blob roll. You can also press both buttons so the blob springs into the air. As you eat certain flowers, the blob grows in size. If you hit an area too narrow for your big blob, you can break up into all of the mini-blobs, and later regroup.

This may sound odd - but it is a TON of fun. The backgrounds are all works of art, with a wide variety of themes. You can be in an ice world and slide along on super-slick pathways. There are lots of hidden rooms and secret bonusses to search for. The little blobs are just so happy! They sing along with the music, enjoy the sliding around and celebrate at the end. It's really a game that you have a great deal of enjoyment at every step of the way.

There are little mini-games, and you unlock "house pieces" that let you build your very own blob maze. By positioning the various house pieces, you can create an endless set of loops for your blobs to go around in.

With all the games out there that have you swearing at your machine in frustration because of the inane controls or frustrating enemies, it is really a joy to find a game that is always fun. Even if you don't do well, it's fun, and it encourages you to try again to do better. You only get 10 of the little blobs to the end of the level? That's a great start - and give it another go to see if you can find even more! Between the catchy songs and the beautiful backgrounds, you really do want to leap into the fray again and explore every little angle.

This is a great game for young kids, mature grandparents, and everyone in between. The gameplay is easy enough to learn, and fulfilling enough that you'll be addicted soon.

    Highly recommended....more info
  • Fun for all ages
This is a great game everyone can enjoy. This is something of a divergence from the types of games I usually play but it was definitely something I'm glad I didn't miss. It is a platformer that actually manages to be fun. There are no bottomless pits or halts to gameplay. Missing a jump in locoroco means a longer completion time at the end of each level and/or a health penalty. The soundtrack and spirited animation keep this game fun even when it's at its most challenging. There are also a number of minigames and even a sandbox type of application that lets you design an obstacle course for your locorocos to navigate. This game is a must-have for any psp owner....more info
  • Totally Different
I came upon this game as a demo from SONY. I downloaded it onto my PSP and was hooked within 5 minutes. I needed to have the full game. Don't let the child-like voices and images steer you clear of this game if you are an older gamer. Trust me, you will have some fun.

The only thing is, I did beat it a little too fast. Still very fun....more info

  • If you appreciate good game design this game is for you!
I appreciate games that are designed well and look great and this is tops in that regard. The game makers have managed to create a compelling world that is believable and makes sense yet at the same time is far out and unreal. Loco Roco is a bit puzzle, a bit side scroller, and a bit arcade. It's both challenging and fun to play, beautiful to look at and listen to and is certainly one of the most unique and artistic creative games you will play.

I recommend this game to anyone, including kids. It's cute but not in a cutesy way like some other games that try too hard to be cute. The game is refreshingly not violent and is like candy to the eyes.

This game is just amazing in terms of the design and playability. It's difficult to describe but it is way more fun than most games I've played and the look of it is just 'right on' somehow. Loco Roco emits positive energy and vibes to those who play it. If you are depressed or feel hurt, there's something about this game that will actually help you to feel better. After playing a game of Loco Roco, I get that feeling like I just woke up from a good dream!...more info
  • Charming, stylized, colorful & innovative fun!
LocoRoco is a Japanese import game for the PSP handheld system. I think it is one of the most enjoyable games for a great gaming platform that unfortunately still lacks a solid title list. But, this simple, charming game, appropriate for kids as well as adults, is well worth seeking out.

You play as LocoRoco, a very, very happy, singing water balloon(?). The gameplay is very easy to pick up, but still quite challenging to play. Using the side triggers, you tilt the entire level so your character rolls through it, and by pressing both triggers you can bounce. As you gather red flower-bud thingies you grow in size, and then you can break up into individual smaller LocoRoco's to move through parts of the levels. There are a unique variety of characters that assist you through the game, and some interesting bad guys as well. This simple gameplay becomes very challenging as you progress, particularly if you look for all of the hidden things in the levels and try to complete with a perfect score.

The graphics are done in an appealing 2-D style with bright, flat colors, that reminds me a bit of a kid-friendly Peter Max (1960's graphic artist). It fits the tone of the game perfectly. The music is just plain odd! Be warned: you will have these silly nonsense jingles stuck in your head for a while after playing this game. But that's ok, because they are some of the most unique, catchy songs ever created for a game (in my opinion). They seem to be sung by children, as well as adults sped up chipmunk-style, and are sung entirely in the made up LocoRoco language. They range from outright hilarious, to surprisingly subtle in tone, and the songs evolve with the gameplay, depending on where you are in the level, and how many LocoRoco's you have on-screen (when you break up your big LocoRoco into smaller ones, the group sings in harmony!).

This game could charm the pants off even the most jaded gamer. Every time I play it, I get a silly grin and find myself babbling along with the soundtrack. I get some funny looks when I play it on the bus. It's difficult to truly describe how appealing this game is unless you try it. It may be just too simple and silly for some gamers, but I think it deserves a wide audience and think many would enjoy it. It does get a bit repetitive if you play through the whole thing, but in short doses, I find it is a great diversion. And if you are in a funk, this game is better than Prozac! (LocoRoco is not intended to diagnose or cure any illness...)

I give this game a high recommendation. I think it will appeal to puzzle game fans, young and old, and anyone interested in unique games for the PSP. I find it has a moderate replay value, as I go back to try to find all the hidden things and get perfect scores for some more challenging levels, and just to re-experience the wackier ones.

Also: the soundtrack CD is available as a Japanese import. Now I'll NEVER get these songs out of my head.

    Yay!...more info

  • Great game for young kids!
I struggled for a while deciding whether to buy Nintendo DS Lite or PSP Slim since I was primarily buying it for my 6-yr old. While the price difference isn't huge there is a larger collection of kids' games for DS competing with a nicer feature set on PSP.

Thankfully, there is LocoRoco for PSP which has kept my kid engrossed. There are a large number of worlds and variations. The fact that LocoRocos have a mind of their own keeps it somewhat unpredictable compared to characters that would only react to some sort of control input. I have to admit that it interests me as well whenever I have to help out with a tricky situation in the game....more info

  • OMG!! what fun! I'm addicted!
Ok, so I am in my Mid-40's and like to play with my PSP. After reading the other reviews of this game, I just had to try it.
This game is just so much fun, and quite addictive. The levels are colorful, and amusingly animated, and at times seems too easy..well it can be very difficult which results in the player {me} trying to up my score more for each level several times before moving to the next one.
I have yet to get all the berries in each level, and all the little people..but I have so much fun trying that I don't care.
The music is cute too but can repetitious after a while so I just turn the sound down, and I do like getting my little blob close to the spikes just to hear it complain "oh no oh no"!! I'm so mean!! heheh

This game is great for children..if they can pry it out of their parents hands long enough to try it out, lucky me I don't have any kids I have to share the game with..it's all MINE!!

I am definately going to get Locoroco2!... the game is definately something to amuse your senses, tickle your funnybone, and make it so chores don't get done!!

Get this game or I will spear my blob on those little spikes!!

  • A Must Have For PSP Owners
This game should be a staple in any PSP owner's library. The game is addictive and fun, it starts off with a simple premise of collecting locoroco's throughout the game, but actually progresses to a challenging and very rewarding game.
The graphics are topnotch. The control's are smooth, and the music and sound effects are adorable and makes you care for your locoroco more.
On the outside, it seems like LocoRoco is but a children's game with cutesy characters and sound, but as you progress, the stages get harder with more enemies, and harder to find locoroco's and secrets.
There are also quite a few mini-games packed into the game itself which one can play by collecting berry-like things or by finding secret items throughout the world map which can then enable you to build a locoroco house.
If you ask any hardcore PSP owner out there what games you MUST have for your PSP - I can assure you that LocoRoco will be one of them. ...more info
