Customer Reviews:

  • good for the price but smells funky (bc of the plastic?)
It does produce a good mist, and expand essential oils rapidly in a room - doing the job I expected - , but I find there is a funky smell associated to it as well, probably coming from the plastic constitution of the product - which I hadn't expected and gives a cheap look in comparison with glass products...more info
  • Simply The Best!
So far I've bought 5 of these and give them as gifts! This is a fabulous product, I love it and the people I've given it to love it too. It's easy to use, you can choose the fragrance you want at any given time, and it fills the room with clean fresh aromas'. No need to worry about leaving it on because it automatically shuts off when the water level goes too low. I intend on buying more to keep a fresh supply of gifts! ...more info
  • not what I expected
This spa mist is not what I expected, the water did not last long and neither did the fragrance.

    It was disappointing.

  • Tranquil and Cool
This mister has several advantages over the bowl type misters that have the ultrasonic thingamabob completely submerged in water.

Pros: The ultrasonic device, its LED's and power cabling aren't exposed to water and oils - reducing maintenance and possibly extending the lifespan of the ultrasonic device since bowl mister performance seems to decline after just a few weeks of use. The LEDs malfunction or completely die in bowl misters after a while (blue LED's die really fast for some reason and are always the first to go).

This mister has a fan at its base and a directional vent head that disperses the water vapor so you can control the direction of vapor flow.

    It's less messy.

The lights transition smoothly, the colors fade and meld creating a really tranquil and mesmerizing ambiance.

Cons: Very small, water capacity is low. You have to add water frequently, but that shouldn't be a problem.

UPDATE: I've discovered what creates the off smell in this unit. It is not the plastic. The fan is placed right under the PCB in the device, the smell of the chemicals in the PCB is what I smell. It is quite strong. Also, my unit is malfunctioning now. The electronic components are not as safe from water as I thought....more info
  • Not a lot of bang for your buck
The colored lights are nice but that's about the only good I could see from this product. It puts out very little mist and there was no aroma at all from the drops of essential oil I put in. The only place you might get some benefit from it would be in a very small bathroom or closet. I thought it would be great for our motorhome but was sadly disappointed....more info
  • Poor Quality
I'm sorry to give a negative review, but I'm afraid this product deserves it. I ordered the Pearlessence Spa Mist Air and was unpleasantly surprised by the cheap quality of the plastic used to construct this thing. The price was great, but it just wasn't worth it and I returned it. I can't recommend this at all.

I've used a different ultrasonic diffuser in the past that was absolutely fantastic! You can see a similar product on amazon by doing a find for the Ultrasonic Misting DIFFUSER by Young Living (which I'm sorry to say is way overpriced). I think there's one Japanese company that makes these units, and then different companies take the units and brand them for themselves. I wish Amazon carried one of these at a reasonable price because I would order one in a heartbeat. They are high quality and work fabulously. ...more info
  • Nice while it lasted. 6 weeks then died.
I was very please with the product and enjoyed the cool mist and fragrance. However about 6 weeks later it stopped working. It may have been caused by leaving water in the reservoir for a few days,I'm not sure. I may try another Spa mist design, because I did like what the product did....more info
  • Works for small areas
If you are looking for a humidifier, buy something else.
This product does put off enough moisture to keep from "shocking" everyone in the house.
I've had it for a few months and have encountered no problems.
It is annoying to need to refill it every 6 hours, but at least it shuts off so you don't have to worry about it being dangerous....more info

  • Useful on my desk
I wanted to get a unit ever since I saw it at a Health food store. But the price was a little high for such a unit. Luckily yesterday I found it on sale for much less at GNC $19.99.

I have it turned on while it sits on my home office desk sans light show and also added about 5 drops of Vanilla essential oil. It does the job. However, as others have mentioned, it does have a fairly audible humming sound. As for humidfying properties, I don't know how well it will do. It is after all sitting on my desk and misting towards me during the day. If I were looking for something to humidify a bigger room I would definitley consider get a better unit solely for humidifying purposes and also consider getting a warm mist humidifier.

Would I buy this unit again? At the lower price yes! It would be a great gift for some one as well to use in their office. Would I buy it at full price for $30? No way.......more info
  • Just what I wanted
I love the smell of an essential oil in the air. I've tried tealight burners, a smear on a low-burning lamp, and a miniature crockpot designed for aromatherapy. The PearlEssence Spa Mist is absolutely the best ever for diffusing an odor and continuing to diffuse it for an extended period of time. Because I live in a humid climate, I was concerned that misting would only add to mold problems and perhaps mar wooden furniture. The cool mist instantly absorbs even into our air. The light show of the base can be turned off, but I like it most of the time. Product was offered for $10 less than at a well-known local natural market chain, and shipping was free with my order over $25 with other products. ...more info
  • Mister
I bought this item for my mother who likes scented candles. The oils are necessary for her. The device starts up immediately and certainly spreads the smell around the room. It does have a small water reserve and if it is over filled, the ultrasonics do not work. My mother was happy enough with the unit to send one to each of my sisters for their birthdays....more info

  • Nice for atmosphere
I bought this to add some humidity to a small room (about 10 x 10) that I'm using for an office. It works reasonably well to bring the humidity up a few percentage points, but it won't replace a full-size humidifier for a larger room. As a second humidifier or just for the ability to scent a room, it's fine.

I admit to being drawn in by the color changing LED function -- I wanted something fun as well as functional. And I wanted to be able to add essential oils to the mister when I wanted fragrance. I've used it once with oil and it does a good job of circulating the fragrance throughout the room. I could even smell the oil in the hallway. This might not be desirable if you have others in your home who don't like fragrance or who are allergic. Just be aware that the essential oils (I did not buy mine from Amazon) can be very overpowering.

One caveat: the directions say to use distilled water. I went out of my way to buy distilled water, filled the machine, and turned it on. Nothing happened. I thought it was a dud, and let it sit on the counter for the weekend, figuring I would pack it back up on Monday. Then I decided to pour out the distilled water and refilled the machine with tap water. It worked! We had a similar thing happen at a print shop I worked at where some equipment could not sense water levels because the water was too pure. Apparently some amount of minerals in the water are necessary for the sensor to detect the presence of water. In this machine, the water sensor looks like a black cylinder about twice the size of a pencil eraser.

So save your money on the distilled water and use tap water. You'll just need to clean the machine periodically to descale it and remove mineral deposits. When you use oils, you need to wipe the interior clean to get rid of residue. I would think mild dish detergent would work as long as you rinse the water tank thoroughly. The good news is that the water tank is very easy to clean and there are no tubes or other hard-to-reach areas.

The quality of this product seems so-so. The silver paint on the top is a very thin layer and scratches easily. I've only owned this one season so I don't know what to expect in terms of longevity. ...more info
  • ???
The over all quality of this Mister is some what poor. Very sensitive water level and will not start up if level is not just right. Water runs out very quickly as it is only one cup size. The lid is knocked off easily. Does have nice soothing mist sound, for me like a white noise. And have enjoyed the changing color mode and adding scent oils are so relaxing. I am still using after a year in the dry winter months for sinuses, but only for it's compact size for traveling. Have since gotten solid quality and larger for everyday use....more info
  • Very Nice Mist Especially with Scented Oils
This unit puts out a very fine mist which for the small volume of water (1 cup) creates a surprising amount of humidification. It will run for three hours. The changing lights are very cool. I do wish it held more water though so that it would run all night. Try the oil with it; they produce an excellent smell, but do erase the fill line inside the unit. See link for oils. I love this small diffuser. Works fine! The light is little funky, but you can choose 'mist-only', so it does not disrupt your sleep. I bought one for my child and just ordered the second one for my office.

  • Two months and still going strong
I've had this thing running pretty much constantly since I purchased it about 2 months ago. While I can't attest to the humidifying capabilities (didn't buy it for that), it DOES work nicely to fragrance the air while it's running. If it's close enough to you, you can feel a cool mist. I've used only distilled water. I buy a jug of it and pour a bunch of my favorite essential oil blend in and let it sit for a few days. Then I double-filter it (coffee filters) into another bottle so the mechanism doesn't get clogged with oils (pour the filtered oil back into your jug of non-filtered scented water to continually intensify the fragrance). I've found that you shouldn't fill quite up to the fill line as it causes the mist to "spurt" out. If you fill it up to just below, it works great and will mist for around 2 hours (not sure why another reviewer said only 1/2 hour). For the little over $20 that I paid, I feel that I've definitely gotten my money's worth. More expensive oil diffusers/nebulisers always clog and you have to end up replacing or refurbishing parts - I've tried them all.

    UPDATE - 1 YEAR LATER

Shortly after I wrote the review, I got too busy to deal with double-filtering, etc., so the unit sat where it was - for over a year. The other day I happened to look at it and decided to see if it would still work. It had a little water and some dead gnats in it. Rinsed it all out and used some compressed air in the fan area and on the little elements inside. The indicator lights would come on, but it wouldn't work. I wasn't deterred. I turned it on and left the room. When I came back later, it was humming along nicely. It's been several days now and it's working as perfectly as when I first received it.

A lot of people here are complaining about the fill line being smudged off from the essential oils. Mine's still fully-intact because I don't put essential oils directly into the unit. I think this is what is causing a lot of problems for the people who give it negative reviews. I'm sure the oil will gunk up the elements inside, so just don't do it. It's also important to not fill all the way up to the fill line. Although tap water was apparently recommended, I didn't want mineral deposits to clog anything, which is why I use distilled. I believe the functionality of the unit has everything to do with how you use it and take care of it. Using it properly is a little time-consuming and perhaps some people just don't have that extra time.

That being said, it is cheaply-made. If you're looking for a humidifier and/or something that will work longer (like when you're sleeping), look for something else. This is more of a "when I'm awake" aromatherapy unit. And it will nicely scent a small room. However, I would shop around. A better, more fair price for the quality and functionality of this particular unit would be around $10-15....more info
  • It is not what I was looking for, but it was a lucky catch.
I was looking for a small size humidifier. This one is small, nice design, has changing colors, BUT it works a couple of hours and then runs out of water. So as a humidifier it is not efficient enough. It can be used different way. I bought a pack of scented oils and use Spa Mist for aromatherapy. It gives some humidity, plus nice lights, plus nice scent in the room. It really helps to relax and to fall asleep. And it turns off automatically. I do need scented candles any more. ...more info
  • Multi-Use
I bought this because the humidifier in my daughter's room was impossible to clean, and she came to depend on the sound or she wouldn't stay in bed (she's 2). It just seemed like a cool bonus that it not only lights up (an optional feature), but that it would also scent the room with a few drops of essential oil. I LOVE THIS THING! I'm about to buy a second one, because during the day, I bring it downstairs, and at night, I turn it on in her room (minus the oil). It is smaller than I pictured, for some reason, but that's cool with me. 5+stars, I love it....more info
  • Noisier than I expected
I was hoping for something I could leave on while sleeping but this little thing is too noisey. I was going to send it back but for the price, it wasn't worth it. I purchased this item for its ease and simplicity and the cost was reasonable as well. I looked forward to having this product in my home spa. I received the item and set it up for first use, it took awhile to get started. I thought it was just the way it worked as the instructions were minimal. The next day I started it up again, and to my dismay it never started. I tried a couple more times to no avail. So I thought that the item I received was defective. I let Amazon know and they promptly shipped me a new one. To my utter dismay the new one performed exactly as the first one! I returned this one for a refund. I was frustrated with my experience and will not purchase items from this manufacturer again....more info

  • Works Wonderfully!
I recieved this mister for Yule, and I have to say, I am very pleased with it. It does NOT work well as a humidifier. Its far too small. But it does work well as an essential oil diffuser. I have used it every day since then, and its never failed. The only thing that I would complain about is the need for a water fill line on the inside. Lack of one has meant a little more adjusting period as to how much water I can fill it with without having it be TOO full and not work. I suggest if you think your mister is not working that you take a medicine cup and dip in the reservoire, after removal of excess water, it should work fine. And this way, if you are using essential oils as well, you can keep the cup off to the side until the resevoire is ready to be filled again. E.O.'s are expensive and no one wants to waste them ;D

Another great feature of this mister is the changing lights and the ability to turn them off. I love to keep the lights going during the day, and then at night I will turn the light off and let the mister do its job without worrying about the light keeping me awake. It will usually run a good 2-3 hours without having to be refilled and can successfully enhance the smell of any small to moderate sized room, though I wouldnt use it for large spaces.

This is at least what my boyfriend calls it. And I must admit I find it to be rather odd and I'm disappointed in the product.

The humidifier has a rather loud hum.
The lights rather than soothing to me are rather garish
It does not seem to disperse the scent of the oil as readily as other things I have used

The humidifier aspect is nice but that is about all I have to say positive.

  • Awesome Buy
I purchased this fountain, to help recover from back surgery. I am very thankful for this little device. It has helped with moisture in the air, and kept my bedroom from smelling like a hospital. I really was able to use this to help with me to relax, which I believe, has helped me use less pain meds, and I have recovered very well.

I now use this mister just about every day. I fill it with water, put a couple of drops of scented oil, that I bought at the same time from Amazon, plug it in, and turn it on. When it runs out of water it automatically turns off, so I don't worry about it overnight. I would recommend this mister to anyone who wants to sleep better, or if you just want to use it as a night light the light show is very relaxing....more info

  • Cheap little unit, but it works
This product does exactly what it's supposed to do-- diffuses mist (and essential oil) into the air, quietly and cleanly. However, I was disappointed in several ways. The shipping time was horrendous-- it took nine days to receive this product direct from Amazon. The plastic and styling is cheap and tawdry, and looks like something you'd buy at Dollar General. There also seems to be a design flaw; whenever I clean the unit, then start it up again, the colored light feature automatically runs for the next hour or so, whether it's on or off. But, if you're willing to overlook the design and the flaws, it's a decent little diffuser for the money....more info

It is a great idea for adding a little moisture and aromathrerapy into the air. I love it for being able release the eucalyptus oil into the air without having to burn any candles, and it is good if you have any type of respiratory problems. The first time I used it my skin was so dry, and I noticed an immediate improvement after turning it on. I have only used my unit about 5 times and the motor sounds like it's dying and it smells like it's burning. So I am hoping this was a defective one and I am going to try a new one. Hopefully it works, cause when it works, we all really like it. ...more info

  • Great little product
The shipping was really fast, and I have used the little mister almost the whole time I've been home since receiving it almost two (2) weeks ago. While the red fill line was still present, I measured the amount needed to reach it as 2/3's cup. I always use 2/3's cup of tap water, and it lasts about, five (5) hours it seems. The water lasts a long time. It is sitting in a big room, so I use about 10 drops of different Essential Oils (don't know much of anything about oils, but I ordered them to use with the unit).

The colors are awesome, I almost always use the unit with the colors going. When the water is out, the unit tries to keep going. It turns on and off intermittently, and this wasn't conveyed in any of the reviews. Probably if it was completely dry inside, it wouldn't turn on, but about a teaspoon of water remains in the bottom and this moisture seems to trigger the machine, just speculation on my end. This is the only thing about the mister that worries me. I read a lot of reviews, and this never came up as an issue...

About the oils, some of them don't smell so great, or they are too strong even when less than six (6) drops are used. So I visited Bath and Body works to see what aromatherapy oils they offered, looking for fragrant yet not overpowering scents. What I found is that some were mixes of the Essential Oils I had already purchased. One, for instance, was Spearmint mixed with Eucalyptus. Today, right now as I write this, both Spearmint and Eucalyptus oils are in the mister producing a very nice scent, and I plan to do quite a bit of experimental mixing of the oils. Even a small amount of Sweet Orange smells kind of strong and annoying to me; however, now I will try mixing it with Grapefruit and other of the oils to see if something likeable can be produced, ten (10) drops of Grapefruit and two (2) drops of Sweet Orange, say.

The gentle noise produced by the mister doesn't bother me at all, since I play sounds throughout the house as a form of experiential dimension. The mister was purchased to add an additional form of sensory dimension to the house. I use different Brookstone Tranquil Moments Sound Therapy machines in different rooms to vary moods in different rooms, so that walking through the house is exciting. In the kitchen is usually a thunderstorm with loons or other birds in the background, I often play rain as a livingroom background, and ocean waves are usually playing in my bedroom. My grandkids love the different sounds and smells, as do I. The mister is playing an important part in holistic scheme. I've no doubt that much can be done with these different oils, that specific results can be achieved, but I am new to them and have yet to learn about the possibilities.

I have read reviews on more serious misters that have larger water capacities and higher prices, but this little mister is so pretty, easy to use, and fun, that I feel completely satisfied with the purchase, even though it is a little oversensitive in its moisture detection as described earlier. I will buy more of these, for other rooms in my house, and to use as gifts. Having said that, $30 does seem a bit high. $20 or at most $25 might be a better balance, because it surely can't cost much to produce it. I applaud the simplicity, this is not a criticism, it is rather that it seems like $20 could still provide a fair profit to sellers while giving consumers a better purchase price. However, if the value is what people are willing to pay, then it is worth $30 to me since I was and still am willing to pay it....more info
  • Not worth it
I had to return the item because besides looking real cheap (silver painted plastic top, plastic container, the water level mark is just a red line made with marker, and not even a permanent one, so it disappears after an hour) it worked only sporadically. It misted for some time, then stopped. When shaking the unit or unplugging and reconnecting, it might start misting again. The output is so low that the great lavender oil I bought was almost not noticeable. The only thing that worked flawless was the color changing lights. I now use the aromatherapy oils in my warm mist humidifier and the results are so much better.
Amazon's return policy is really great! I was prepared to pay for shipping but they provide you with a prepaid label to return items. Thumbs up!!!...more info

  • Know what you're buying!
This is a great product if you know what you're getting. The biggest problems people seem to have with this unit relvove around their expectations about what this mister will do. Keep in mind: It is small (as another reviewer mentioned, its the size of a jar of pickles). It only holds a cup of water (enough for only a couple of hours). It cannot humidify large spaces well. Adding too much water will prevent the unit from functioning properly. The fill level indicator will wear away if certain essential oils are used, so make note of the level before it does! Other than these important issues, regular cleaning will ensure the auto-off feature does not malfunction (which would render the unit useless)....more info

My mom got this for me a while back. I used to use it on my nightstand, but I now have a larger one for the bedroom and took this one to my desk at work.

    PROS:
    -small size
-can be used with lights on or off
-provides a decent amount of mist
    -pretty quiet
-looks a lot better than other mini humidifiers

    CONS:
-the little cap with the slit at the top is not connected in any way (to allow for directing the mist), and I lost it when we moved. My temporary solution os to use an open lotion top with one of those slits. Works prety well. You have to have some sort of cap or the mist is too much and everything gets wet.
-only one setting, so you can't adjust amount
-it has an auto-off when it runs out of water, but it doesn't just shut off, it gurgles and turns on and off quickly for about 10 mins before it really turns off. this usualy wakes me up and i just unplug it.
-no 'off' button - you have to unplug....more info
