Customer Reviews:

  • Like Having Very Long Arms
I most highly recommend this tremendous product. When you are trying to message away trigger point pain (knots) in hard to reach areas of your back, it is like having very long, totally mobile arms. It is well designed and made to last. I also highly recommend "The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook" by Clair and Amber Davies. I found out about the Thera Cane from that book. While giving you several different message tool options, the author's favorite one is the Thera Cane, which they most highly recommend.

"The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook" is a tremendous resource for people in pain. After having tried many natural remedies for my shoulder pain, this program is the best. Glucosamine while it helped, did not totally alleviate the pain. Magnet therapy helped for awhile, but eventually made the pain worse. Chiropractic treatments, which used trigger point therapy worked for a time, but then my knots would return and cause pain. I didn't know the importance of at least six times a day massaging your central trigger points until the knots are gone.

"The Trigger Point Therapy Wookbook" has excellent information on the muscles. It also has excellent charts which help you locate specific trigger points (knots in your muscles) which cause pain. It tells you how to message those painful areas to get rid of the knots in your muscles. While the information is thorough, it is written for the lay person in an understandable way.

You can have central trigger points, which are located in the belly of the muscle that hurts. You can also have satellite trigger points in the pain referral zone of another muscle and attachment trigger points in your tendons where your muscles connect to your bones. While your trigger points will never be on opposite sides of your body, they can travel the length of one side of the body. Satellite and attachemnt trigger points are secondary trigger points. Even though they can be very painful, especially attachment trigger points, they can right themselves. Not so with central trigger points. You can get the secondary trigger points out, but not deal with the pain unless you deal with the central trigger points.

While the book and Thera cane may at first glance seem expensive, they are far cheaper than repeated Chiropractic visits. I most highly recommend this unbeatable pair for relieving pain....more info
  • Works Great!
This worked much better than I predicted. Since my brain/spinal cord surgery, I have pain especially in my shoulders. I've been using the Thera Cane the past month to smooth out those chronically-sore muscles and it has really helped. I'm buying another one for my parents. I also just purchased the DVD. ...more info
  • Very helpful self massage tool
I can use this cane to trigger the points I need. It even works great on my neck. I don't need to please my hubby to massage for me. It is kind of expensive for a stick like this but is a good investment. It is the bomb!...more info
  • Thera Cane review
I love my Thera Cane! It is very ergonomically friendly. I am able to release the tension in my shoulders and back by myself with the Thera Cane....more info
  • Wonderful Tool
This is the most wonderful tool. As a nurse I was skeptical at first but then used it under the direction of my physical therapist. It is now a part of my morning rountine and I turn to it whenever I can feel a tightening in my upper back. I may have to buy a second because when I leave it in my office at work everyone wants to use it....more info
  • Thera Cane is awesome!
It really works! I have tight knots in my upper back around the shoulders and the TheraCane is the only thing I've found that will releive the pressure. I tried tennis balls but they were clumsy and hard to put in the exact spot needed. I think the TheraCane is definitely worth the money. Love it!

  • works quite well!
The theracane is as good as it gets for a do it yourself massage of a trigger point. While it is no meaans as good as having a pro work on you, I am quite satisfied....more info
  • Great product
I bought this as a present for my wife and she loves it. This device lets her attack the knots in her upper back and shoulders in a direct and targeted way. It's true that the TheraCane is unusual looking (it was a great "What's this for?" game on Christmas Day) but its maker was obviously more concerned with functionality than style. I think it's an excellent product and well worth the cost....more info
  • Getting rid of the hard to reach sore spots
I have problems with tight neck muscles and back muscles from working out with weights; I was spending a lots of money on massage therapy until my a physical therapist told me about the Theracane. It has been a life saver (and money saver). Now I can give myself a deep massage on my neck, shoulder and back muscles, then take a hot shower and I'm back in business. This was a great investment for me!!!...more info
  • Exactly what I've been looking for
The knots in my back - my "spots" never really go away due to posture and my work in front of the computer. One day I asked a coworker what the odd green thing by his desk was. He explained the concept, I tried it for about two seconds and immediately knew this was something special. The leverage is perfect for zeroing in on your back knots and applying STRONG pressure to them - like having a strong friend digging their knuckle in and holding it there. I bought one the next day. You don't need an expensive vibrating massage wand that has all sorts of silly features - just this simple stick that can pinpoint and dissolve all your stress spots. ...more info
  • Useful
The Thera Cane is useful in getting to places that are difficult alone and I have followed the instructions and watched the DVD. That being said I haven't found it to be very useful is reducing the pain I have had in my upper back, neck and shoulders. It feels good as you work the area but in the long term I have not seen it's effectiveness....more info

  • Thera cane is incredible
Love it!!! The cane is very sturdy and well designed. My husband is now "hooked" on it as well...we actually fight over who gets to use it first! Be careful not to massage too long or too vigorously the first use. We both found that we felt a bit sore after the first use, which is truly a testament to the effectiveness of the thera cane. Great product....more info
  • love, Love, LOVE this thing!
I usually will not take the time to review items, but I HAD to make the exception for the Theracane. This is one of the best things I have bought myself and it has been affectionately dubbed "the boyfriend" due to the amount of timne I spend with it. Getting your mind out of the gutter, I could barely move when I purchased this. I had prior experience with a similar device years ago. One of my friends had been given by our NFL team and I loved it and wanted one, but never had gotten around to getting it.

Enter high stress job where I travel every weekend. Sitting on a plane hours at a time and sleeping in different 4 different beds 12 nights a month started wreaking havoc on my body. Not to mention, I'm fairly intense to begin with. I love this thing because I can get in there and use as much pressure as I am comfortable with. I like hard pressure and most massage therapists can't get in the muscle like I can with the Theracane. After about a week of 3 times a day with the Theracane and the use of the Trigger Point therapy book, I felt like a new person. My back and shoulders relaxed, I found places on my legs and arms that were very painful and with some work, I now move more freely.

The cane is very sturdy, I'm sure one could break it, but it would take some effort. I have knocked myself upside the head with it while trying out different ways of using it, as it is a bit awkward. However, there is a little booklet that comes with it that gives you ideas and also there is a DVD that you can buy, but I have no idea what is on that.

I use it working at the computer, watching TV, after the gym, on the road (it will fit in a 25" rolling suitcase at a diagonal angle.) My real boyfriend uses it as he does not like strong pressure and can use as little as he likes, my work partner has also purchased on after my rave reviews of it and I will most likely have it with me when I visit family and get them hooked on it too....more info
  • Thera-Cane
I first used a Thera-Cane when I was in physical therapy. It is used to self-apply a deep pressure massage on hard-to-reach places. I found it to be very helpful for relieving muscle tension, stiffness and soreness. The product works well, is built to last forever and is well worth the money....more info
  • awesome!
thera cane is the best way to give yourself a deep massage whenever you need it! no need to ask anyone or rub up against a pointy edge! everyone should have this at their desk! i highly recommend it!...more info
  • Wonderful product!
I'm only thirty, but I do hard work out on my farm as well as swimming. I was getting tight, knotted muscles in my back and shoulders that were restricting my movement and dully hurt. I'm single, though, so had no good way to get them out. I was looking for something to help when I came across these reviews and decided to buy a Theracane for myself. Oh, is it wonderful!

It's very easy to use and easily got out all the knots in my muscles. Right after it was delivered, I spent about 30 minutes gently working the knots out of my shoulders and back while I watched TV. That felt so wonderful, so I worked the last knots out of my shoulders a little bit later that day. It felt so good to be free of stiffness and pain! I felt like I was fifteen again. I highly recommend this product....more info
  • Pleased
I love this Thera Cane and would recommend it to anyone. It has saved me hundreds of dollars being able to reach the areas I couldn't and getting instant relief. Because I do a lot of work at my computer I get muscle spasms and would spend a lot of money for massage or Chiropractic care. Now I can get instant relief by using the Thera Cane. I can pinpoint the problem area, massage it using the Thera Cane and get instant relief.

  • The Thera Cane
I recently purchased a Thera Cane and am happy with it. It is sturdily built and is great for digging into the knots in my shoulders and back. With the Thera Cane, you control the amount of pressure applied to your sore muscles. ...more info
  • Great Item, Bad Packaging
I do a lot of driving which makes my upper back and neck very stiff & knotted. My TheraCane can travel with me for a quick back rub along the way. The unique shape and location of the knobs help to attack knots and pressure points that would normally be out of reach. It's great to use between visits to the massage therapist. My only complaint is that the instructions were taped to the TheraCane with the stickiest tape I've ever encountered. It took forever to remove the tape and sticky residue....more info
  • Wonderful for trigger points

  • Great at breaking up those knots
If you suffer from tight shoulders and upper back then this cane is a must for you! You can choose how much pressure to apply and the cane itself is indestructable. My Chiropractor actually tried to break it and ended up pulling a muscle and then had to use the cane to relieve the tightness in the muscle. The instruction booklet is great and there are many different areas of the body you can use it on but I typically use it for my upper back and shoulders and sometimes my neck. Co-workers ususally point and laugh and ask me how much I paid for my "car club" until they try it. As a result four of my friends have bought one too. Well worth the price and it will last you a lifetime....more info
  • Item/Shipping review
The item is useful and my physical therapist recommended it. My only suggestion would be the concern I had with the shipping. The package was torn apart---papers that were enclosed gone---did manage to get the book (thank goodness) but the post office sent a dirty, torn paper under separate cover wherever it had been found. I would suggest a better packaging option for future shipments!

  • Just what I needed
I have had a trigger point (I called it my "rotten spot")on my back for years which would ache and burn. The only thing that would relieve it was a deep tissue massage. My husband learned to use his elbow to apply pressure to the exact spot when it would get really bad. This device has allowed me to be able to pinpoint the area on my own. I was skeptical at first but it was money well spent. ...more info
  • reaches all points
I was pretty happy with this product. Mostly I have problems with stiffness and cramping in my back muscles, and the thera cane helps to loosen them up. As the title says, it reaches all the points, and the design of the cane allows for great leverage to be used to place significant pressure where needed. Very good buy for the money....more info

  • THIS THING IS AWESOMO
I can't believe this thing. People who saw it laughed at me and said it looks a plant hanger. Maybe it does, but wholy crap--it gets deep...real deep and allows me to massage every single spot on my back and crack everything. It works harder than any massage therapist I've been to. I use it EVERY SINGLE DAY. No joke. This was the best $30 I have ever spent. If you got back problems (and who doesn't), you cannot beat this thing. My pain management dr. showed it 2 me because I asked him if there was anything I could do except pop the Oxycontin. I ordered it from Amazon..had it 3 days later. I can't say enough good about it. Get it--you will not be sorry....more info

  • Bought it because of the reviews; will use it because it works!
This is Lisa's husband, Jeff. Lisa bought this Theracane for me recently, and I just had to drop in another rave review.

Like some the other reviewers here, I bought this because of the high customer ratings. I sit at a computer for 8 or more hours a day, and I think the arms-in-front position causes some of my back muscles to get stretched out, and thus sore.

I've tried several products to get relief: heat pads (not as good as a hot shower), massaging wands (have to lay on it to get enough pressure), rolling shiatsu massager (fixed positions of the rollers mean I can't get the pressure where I want), massage therapists (perfect therapy, but expensive!), and cajoling my wife into rubbing the sore spots. My wife heard my interest in this cane because it's something I can do for myself any time and massage exactly the spots I want with the pressure I want.

I admit to playing with the Theracane for a while before reading the accompanying manual. The manual is a definite bonus because it comes up with ways to massage everything from your neck on down! Getting a "cane" for my birthday made me feel a little older, but as those sore spots tend to stick around a little longer, now, this will definitely help speed up the recovery!...more info
  • theracane
This item works, but you can't use it too much or too hard or you could damage your muscles. This is something not explained in the catalog and I had to learn this from my physical therapist. I also don't think it's worth the money I paid for it, but if you are desperate like I was, you will try anything for pain relief. I would recommend a good message over this product....more info
  • Excellent tool
Great tool, especially for a woman's back. My back is small enough for the little knobs to really push in between my shoulder blades if I alternate each side holding it on a 45 degree angle from my shoulder to my lower back. I have the Backnobber "S" shape, and this is much easier to hold on a spot and and maneuver around. I liked this one so much I got a second one to keep at the office and am also giving one to my Mom for her birthday. Highly recommended....more info
  • Pretty handy tool
I travel a lot and find this to be handy for "getting the knots out" when I can't get to my own massage therapist!...more info
  • Massage yourself
I bought this for my husband because he was always trying to rub his own shoulder and back. I have arthritis in my hands, so I can't massage him very well, so the theracane enables him to massage his back and shoulder knots himself. He loves it!...more info
  • It works!
I have had a number of surgeries and injuries over the years. I see a chiropracter and a physical therapist every few weeks. Both of them work wonders, but then my body tightens up. I can't afford to see them every day! I bought the theracane because I saw someone else with one at a long distance cycling event. Now I've purchased another 3 to share with friends.

It works! This tool has helped me stay loose, and has taken away a lot of the shoulder stiffness that I have suffered for the past 7 years. I suggest the addition of the trigger point therapy workbook, which will give you a lot of the details about the body and why/where it hurts. But even if you don't want to study, you can still get lots of benefits from daily use of the theracane!...more info

  • Best $29.00 I've ever spent!
I love the thera cane! I've had muscle-related back problems for over 10 yrs. However, the last 2 yrs have been really bad. I've done chiropractor, massage, acupuncture and nothing stuck - plus I got tired of spending all that money on them. The first time I used the thera cane I almost cried!! Within about 20 minutes I was completely pain free. It's been such a long time since I could move around w/o pain. Although the pain came back, with each session it gets less and the pain-free time gets longer. I believe I've broken the cycle. I just used it in the morning before work, then after work and then before bed. If your pain is muscle-related, the thera cane is well worth it!!...more info
  • Sue
Thera cane is a worth while purchase. I have used it at work on patients and have had trouble with knots that I couldn't reach on myself. I even gave one to my sister for her birthday. I had an issue with shipping as another customer had the same name and it went to them instead. I called the company and they were great. They cleared up the confusion and sent out my order the next day....more info
