Great workout but NOISY! I searched for a long time before buying a rebounder, because I wanted to be able to use it for a long time and get my money's worth out of it. I'm a SAHM, and can't get to the gym.
Things I like about this rebounder:
1) The price-- great product for a really reasonable price.
2) The free shipping with amazon.
3) It's made to be used in gyms, so it's sturdy and made for a LOT of jumping (several rebounding classes in a row, for example)
4) The DVD is helpful with several workouts to get you started with good toning moves so you don't get bored.
5) Made to be used outside and inside. Nice.
6) This is a GREAT WORKOUT! I can see definition in my abs.
7) Folds up nice and small. I think I could take it with me anywhere without a lot of hassle.
Things I don't like so much:
1) Because this is made to be used in a gym all day long, it's a little more of a hard bounce, and I found that if I don't wear shoes while I jump, my ankles fold inward and hurt for a couple of days afterward. So I wear shoes when I bounce.
2) This thing is SO NOISY. Guess that's what you get for under $100. I have to turn up the TV pretty loud if I want to watch while bouncing. (This isn't good for me because I'm usually bouncing while the babies are napping, and I don't want to wake them.)
3) I thought the included manual could have been more extensive, but maybe that's just me.
I wish the bar could be lowered just a little more, so my toddler could hold on while she jumps.
All in all, I'm satisfied with my purchase, and am getting GREAT results from the workout. Awesome abs with no situps, and it's a fun workout. I worked my way from 5 minutes up to 30 minutes, adding a minute a day, and have really increased my stamina and endurance. I'm always nice and sweaty after a workout. Excellent for the beginning jumper!...more info
My first rebounder.... This is the first one I have ever owned. It looks so easy in the dvd that I thought I would try it. It's not easy in the beginning but gets easier as you go along. If you are a beginner too then take it easy at first and bounce without ever letting your feet leave the trampoline. And do the stretching exercises like on the dvd.
This thing is really well made and I don't feel like it is dangerous in any way, but I do like the bar on it and plan on leaving it on until I am comfortable without it. I get a little dizzy from all that bouncing and am glad to have it as a clutch if needed. The dvd starts out with exercises for first timers, basic exercises, intermediate, advanced, some for seniors, abdominal and contact. It's a very good dvd and I don't think you will be unhappy with it. Mine didn't come with a carrying case but I don't know why you would need one. It's light enough to pick up and carry around. It does take 2 people to fold it up if you want to make it smaller for storage. Those springs are heavy and tight and I wouldn't recommend folding it up unless you just have to do so. When it comes, all you have to do is fold it out and straighten the legs and it's ready to go. Putting the handle on is also easy. You need no tools whatsoever.
My final advice is to have some advil and muscle rub on hand. You are going to need it in the beginning if you start out doing too much before you are ready for it! If you order from Amazon, you will have this in 3 or 4 days. I couldn't believe how quickly it got here. Be careful if you order one other than this one because some can't handle a lot of weight. I checked on one in a local chain store and I would have been afraid to bounce on it because it looked so cheaply made. Also check the weights they will hold...this one says 300 lb capacity, some don't even give a weight. This one is great for the price, believe me....more info
Better than I expected! I was skeptical about purchasing this trampoline, but after I received it, I was pleasantly surprised. It actually looked BETTER than the picture. I didn't have any problems with set up...just opened it up and started jumping! I can't comment on the stablization bar because I don't use it.
The workout is KILLER. If you're already in shape, you can probably get thru the basic one. But if you're like me and TRYING to get in shape after years of minimal activity...forget it. I literally thought I would pass out. I have to do a little of the DVD at a time before I'll be able to build up to the full thing. Its much more fun to forget the DVD, put on your favorite music and pretend you're a little kid jumping on the bed! You'll still sweat! Or maybe do some bouncing while watching TV. But basically, I'm pleased....more info
Prepare for Urban Stench! I was really excited to get started using this rebounder, so when it got to my house I was all set for some serious bouncin' but instead was hit in the face with a seriously toxic smelling stench. For that reason alone I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.
There are also problems with the product itself. I'm sure it's a step up from the wallMart versions, but I found that the bouncing action wasn't (for lack of a better term) all that bouncy. Sure I bounced on it and whatnot, but it just didn't feel "right". Also the mat itself seemed stretchy or something. What I mean by this is when I bounced with both feet close together I really sunk into the mat which caused my feet to bend with it. What ended up happening to me is that I got sore feet (with or without shoes). It's also super squeaky & creaky.
I ended up returning it & buying a Needak. Yeah the Needak costs more but it's not outrageously expensive. Plus it's made in the US, it DOESN'T smell toxic (it doesn't really smell at all actually), and it "bounces" right! It feels more like a real trampoline (much more bounce than the Urban). It's also quiet & feels MUCH better on my feet. The Needak uses a high quality mat (the same mat that the other *really* expensive rebounders use) that feels "flat" when you bounce on it (meaning it doesn't flex much). The springs are also WAY stronger but softer feeling. It's kinda hard to explain, but you know it when you feel it.
I apologize if this sounds more like a Needak review, but I was really disappointed with the Urban & there are sooooo many glowing reviews for it that I had to add my two (opposing) cents. Hopefully this review will save someone from the dreaded Urban Stench ;)...more info
Great concept but had small flaws and REALLY DID SMELL This trampoline was recommended to me as high quality, but mine arrived with several rips in the seams on the spring cover. Also, please believe the others who warn you that it SMELLS! The toxic rubber odor was overpowering and sickening. I think it comes primarily from the rubber feet, but having been sealed in the box for so long, the smell had permeated the whole item. I let it air out but still smelled strong. Maybe it goes away after a long while, but I didn't want to wait and find out, especially since this one was torn anyway. Having said that, the springiness was nice and it seemed like it would be a great workout. I took a quick look at the DVD and it seemed like a good program, easy to follow. I plan to buy the DVD seperately and get another brand of rebounder. ...more info
great product! I purchased the urban rebounder a month ago and I enjoy working out on it. The DVD is easy to follow along to (and I'm not very coordinated). I have already lost a couple of pounds and my body is a lot more toned. This is a very fun work out!...more info
A Great rebounder for the price!!!!!!! This is a great product at an affordable price. It was less that half the price of others that I looked at and seemed to be just as good. The only negative: the rubber leg bottoms mark if you slide them on the floor....more info
Much better than the cheap ones!!! I just got mine in, set it up in under a minute and tried it out. For years I purchased these from sporting goods stores only to have them come apart in a matter of weeks. Though I haven't had it for long, I can say that this unit is head and shoulders above the cheap ones I've been getting. Here is why.
1. The cheaper ones break springs because the springs are small and they hook directly into a hole in the frame that grinds at them until the ends snap. This unit uses a different system. A bolt protrudes from the frame. It contains a hole with rounded edges to protect the spring ends. The springs are also longer and thicker than the ones I've seen on cheaper models.
2. Cheaper models suffer from inadequate stitching around the fabric perimeter that holds the bracket end of the spring. This causes the bracket to tear loose releasing two springs at once. A patch job is dangerous and sooner or later the thread slowly unravels completely and releases all the springs.
This trampoline appears to be well stitched and uses six rows of stitching to hold the bracket.
3. Cheaper models use a rigid trampoline material which transfers all the stress of your workout to the springs.
On this model, the trampoline material has a great deal of elasticity which protects the springs and is much less jarring to your body. It also requires you to use slightly more balance than the others because your body sinks deeper into the center while working out.
Best I've owned! Urban Rebounder is well made. My daughter uses it daily and she has destroyed lesser trampolines in 60 days or less with broken springs and worn out fabric. The only thing that didn't survive her usage was the vinyl wrap that covers the spring connection area. The elastic hem unraveled, but the trampoline itself it a winner and so was the price! I paid similar amounts for the two former brands that were returned the the store....more info
