Customer Reviews:
Much louder than they said. But nice features I've had it for about two weeks. I was annoyed when I got it because it was 8 dBA louder than they say it is. Which is a BIG difference. They say it's 50 dBA, it was actually 58 dBA from 7 feet away.
It has a lot of fan noise. The compressor is very quiet. It's a low-temp dehumidifier, so it has to have a big fan to keep the coils from icing up.
The fan turns off when it reaches the desired humidity level. You wouldn't want to sleep nearby because hearing it turn on and off would be hard to get used to.
One feature that I really appreciate is that it has a little red ball that shows you at a glance how full it is.
Also it's Energy Star, fairly energy efficient.
I checked the humidity reading and it was very accurate. I have a good mechanical hygrometer that I just calibrated with salt solutions at 53.5% RH and 33% RH. According to my reading the RH was 46.5 when the Danby was reading 48%. The humidity reading would tend to get more inaccurate over time....more info
