  • EasyPop Popcorn Maker
I bought this for my boyfriend for Christmas, hoping that it would be easy to use and clean. We both LOVE it. It doesn't take too much kitchen space and is easy to store. I would highly recommend it. Definitely tastes better than microwave popcorn....more info
  • Revised CPM-800
The older model CPM-800 was the predecessor to this machine. The one GLARING fault in that machine was a lack of vents in the popping bowl. This resulted in steamed popcorn, making most of the product unusually tough, and some very soggy pieces mingled in.

The CPM-900 addresses that issue with a heavily perforated bottom and a slip on cover.

I would ask those that experienced plastic taste and "dense" popcorn, did you leave the "cover" on? I wouldn't assume they did, but that would guarantee the results listed.

I can't imagine how the 800 unit ever made it into production with such an obvious fault, which leads me to believe Cuisinart quality is no longer a priority. Judging by the other reviews I'd say that they may have missed on the CPM-900 series as well, despite singly addressing the biggest issue.

The "bucket included" idea is a nice one, but in the end these models simply encourage steam buildup, which prevents good results....more info
  • Not very durable
My wife and I were satisfied with the popcorn taste and overall were quite pleased...until one of the internal plastic parts broke and the oil pan would no longer sit on the base properly and heat up. This happened after only 7 months and no more than 25 uses. Not worth the relatively steep price. And of course the store where we bought it (Linens and Things) is now out of business......more info
  • Great Little Popper
Works great, making great tasting pop corn. Easy to use and clean. Pops quickly and completly. We love it....more info
  • Healthier alternative to microwave popcorn
This popcorn maker is a great alternative to those unhealthily microwavable brands. You make the popcorn to your liking, with very little oil. For me I use a whole mess of salt and real melted butter...we are talking about snack food after all. The best results, though, do come from using less oil. The unit is quick and easy: oil, kernels, and switch it on, that's it. It even pops right into the serving bowl. The vents at the top help the hot air move through the popping chamber making the popcorn light fluffy. But this is no air popper; you know this is the real deal when you taste it. Another thing I found useful was the bottom lid on the severing bowl. It prevents a mess by catching the salt and crumbs that can slip through the vents. Getting the bottom plate attached is a pain but it's a one time operation. Overall, this is a great value and I am quite satisfied with its performance....more info
  • Great way to get that old fashioned taste without all the fat!
Cuisinart CPM-900BK EasyPop Popcorn Maker, Stainless Steel and Black

With only teaspoons of oil, it gives us a great flavor and crispness without much oil! Much better than microwave popcorn, and no chemicals in the bag!...more info
  • Great popper
I purchased this black Cuisinart popper for my father-in-law since he liked ours so much. I prefer it by far over microwave popping and since all the surfaces that get greasy can go in the dishwasher the extra work is minimal. Also, the kids get some entertainment value from first the anticipation and later the grand commotion.
    Very fun and useful....more info

This is a great popper. Cooks all the kernels in just minutes. Easy clean up. Definitely recommend!...more info
  • great popcorn! awful quality
This newer model is vastly improved over the previous one which we had to replace three times on the warranty. HOWEVER, there is a part on it inside that breaks VERY easily if you don't install the plate on the base VERY carefully. The first one broke and was replaced. I only used the second one 3 or 4 times before it broke in exactly the same way.

Their warranty service is very disatisfactory. We have had to pay for each replacement at $10 a pop plus the return shipping of the defective units.

All in all, we have paid an amount equivalent to at least two units and cannot get a replacement without paying more. :-(

I LOVE the popcorn this popper makes. It is a GREAT idea! Just wish the quality were better and that the company did not make you pay to get replacements....more info

  • A warning for anyone interested in buying this!
I bought this for the family, and I was very excited about using it as it's a novel way to make popcorn, and we love the stuff. The second time I used it, however, I burned the hell out of my wrist. This product has a terrible design flaw: when you up-end the base after popping, you expose the heating element. Unless you are very careful when lifting the relatively heavy (and unbalanced) base and bucket, you will burn yourself badly.

Secondly, the plastic lid on the base of the bucket (the top of the popper) sits loosely. You might need a third hand to hold it on as you turn the tub over, or you could spill a trace of hot oil on your counter or yourself.

Thirdly, the small plastic pieces that are designed to protect the heating plugs in the base snap off easily. This bit of plastic broke within 3 uses in the first popper we bought. The piece wedged in a way that the heating element could not be plugged in any longer. We returned it for a second unit, and after a month the same bit of plastic broke again. At this point I threw it in the trash, mostly to make a point to myself (of course, I really should have gotten my money back).

This product is fundamentally flawed in so many ways. Please, please, please do yourself a favor and avoid it.

  • Broke after 8 times of use!
This popcorn maker was great - the first 8 times we used it. The popcorn was delicious... unfortunately, the heating element broke off in the base and is no longer working. What a bummer. Do not buy this popper!...more info
  • A much better model...
I originally owned the lower end model, and although it was ok, it wasn't what I expected of a Cuisinart. This model (900) however is world's better than its predicessor. The bowl/lid is much more durable, the design is better, the rods that turn the popcorn are even designed more efficiently. This is what you would expect of a Cuisinart and makes popping corn simple and fun for watching a movie or late night TV....more info
  • Not great..
Popcorn taste isn't distinctly different from my old air popper. Not worth the mess of cleaning out that grooved plastic dome each time and the awkward base. Tried three batches and actually prefer the air popped variety to this so I am returning it. The black plastic lid that you snap on to make the vented dome a bowl is a bit strange since it creates a space for food(butter) to get trapped ... not really functional.
Cute design if you have space in your kitchen for it, but not a great machine....more info
  • I love this machine!
I was hesitant to order the popper after reading all the mixed reviews so my daughter gave it to me for Christmas--and I'm so glad she did. I love the popcorn--it has so much more flavor than air popped but it is also so much healthier than the packaged microwave corn. I must admit that it was tricky to figure out how to put it together properly but once I figured it out, it's not a problem at all. And the popcorn pops light and fluffy with almost no unpopped kernels. I haven't had it long enough to know how it will perform in the long run but right now, I'm very happy with it....more info
  • Better than microwave popcorn
This is my first Amazon review - hope you find it helpful! I purchased this unit in white, and am enjoying it so far. It is easy to use - simply add a couple of tsp. of oil and popcorn measured using the supplied 2/3 cup measure, turn on, and wait. The unit stirs the popcorn to ensure even cooking and pops quickly. I have used it about six times so far, and am pleased. I have not had any of the unpopped corn that another reviewer complained of - maybe it has to do with the type of popcorn being used? One thing you do have to watch is that once the popcorn is done, remove it from the machine quickly, or it will burn. Most importantly for me, cleanup is easy. Both the bucket and hotplate are dishwasher safe, and the plate has a non-stick coating that makes it easy to wipe clean. Several reviewers have complained about durability - my machine has no problems yet, and I hope it stays that way. All in all I am enjoying this as a big improvement over microwave popcorn....more info
  • Good popper, but a bit too spendy
Haven't had any problems with this popper. I use it with small amts of canola oil, alternated with batches of no oil. Haven't needed to put it in the dishwasher, just hand rinse. I use amishcounty popcorn only, almost all kernals pop. It does end up slightly 'moist' which is nice, since I'm on a diet and don't butter it. No odd smells, no problems with the stirring mech, and it gets used at least 3x a week.

My only negatives are: when you remove the base to flip it over, beware. It's as hot as #$%$ on the bottom and if you forget... well... you're not too likely to forget more than once.

I also thought it was too expensive for what it was - don't think the value of this is all that much greater than the salton and other 30-40$ options. And the removeable bottom being so hot should probably scare away parents who's younger kids want to use this....more info

Great popper! Best part is the easy clean up. Pops ALL seed and quick....more info
  • A big disappoinment
I read the bad reviews, but we wanted the best popcorn popper available. We love our food processor, our toaster, and our coffee maker - so we went with the lure of the Cuisinart brand name, which usually means top quality. But not in this case. Too bad. The EasyPop worked great for 3 days, then the plate wouldn't heat anymore and there are broken pieces bouncing around inside the base - just like the other reviews warned me about. (Doh!) Now we'll call the 800 number and hope for the best. A waste of time and money....more info
  • MKC
Quick shipping & product as advertised. (bowl pictured is not included) So far has been great, we have used it several times, the unit is easy to clean but I hand wash the heating plate even though it is rated for the dishwasher. Popcorn is definitely much better than microwave! ...more info

  • Not what you'd expect to bear the Cuisinart name
Does a very nice job of making popcorn as long as you follow the directions and have quick reflexes. When the popping stops, don't hesitate.

But ... after half a dozen batches, the machine quit working. Apparently the heating element wore out. The person at the 1-800 number confirmed that seemed to happen a lot. In other words, Cuisinart appears to know that the thing is a piece of junk. They say they're going to send us another one -- as soon as we decide whether to pay the postage for it. ...more info
