  • Product very difficult to install
Windows Live OneCare 2.0 was not possible to install. I consulted with a paid technician and still could not install. I was NOT able to contact Windows Live OneCare Tech support...all efforts failed in getting help. I would NOT recommend purchase of this. I would like to return for a refund....more info
  • Works behind the scenes
This is my second year with Live OneCare. I found it to be a quiet protector. Never inteferes with any other software on my Vista OS computer. For the price I paid and three licenses you have to consider it. I have purchased a USB interface Hard Drive so I can take advantage of the automatic backup feature. Good job Microsoft....more info

  • WARNING
Onecare is a fantastic security program and it works fantasticly, I have had no problems what-so-ever. A word of caution though, I would not recomend buying it at this point because Microsoft will be discontinuing it entirely in (I beleive) July of 2009, so all suport will be dropped and it will no longer be updated, so it will very quickly go out of date and no longer protect your computer. Just be warned! ...more info
  • Mean Software Personality
This software performance was average but the personality of the software was mean. It reflects the attitude of recent Microsoft product offerings. This product does not allow you to remove features that are intrusive or unnecessary for your particular situation. ...more info

  • Fantastic Product
I have been using Norton for years and always found it to be highly over rated. A few months ago I saw this product at Circuit City and purchased it, but mine was called Equipt and also had Microsoft Student so it included Word, Excel and Access. Unfortunately, I just saw the price here and I have to say GRAB ONE RIGHT NOW. This is the best program I've ever used, it's easy and installs perfectly. It even deletes Norton for you quickly and leaves everything clean. By using a Windows product you're sure to have the best and most efficient program.

There is an anti-virus program, tune up program, easy back-up to any source and an update program. All of these will work for 1 year after that you must purchase another year, but you have to do that with Norton too. You can run up to 3 computers/laptops on the same network this means that you can also share a printer - even one that isn't wireless.

I highly recommend this for everyone.

    UPDATE **** March 2009 ****** UPDATE

Unfortunately, Microsoft has decided to discontinue this product and it is no longer available. I'm not sure why they made this decision, but this was the best program I have ever used. Microsoft quickly sent me a check worth twice what I paid and a full copy of Microsoft Office, that alone was enough for me to get over it pretty quick. So instead I purchased Norton and moved on with my life. I had no trouble uninstalling on 3 machines, no crashes and no trouble. I will miss OneCare greatly :(

  • Just shut down after 1 month
Bought it direct from Microsoft and downloaded for $29.99. Worked great for about a month, then just shut down. The Windows firewall turned off and wouldn't turn back on. Couldn't bring up OneCare at all. Logged onto Microsoft's website to troubleshoot. Among all the "cures" I was advised to try the last was to uninstall and then reinstall. Uninstalled as instructed and when I went to download it was asked to pay for it again. Duh! When I called Microsoft the tech said in very nice tones, "Toughh" I've downloaded Free Avast and it works just fine. That tore it with Microsoft for me. Next computer: Probably Apple....more info
  • Anti-virus is lacking
The firewall and system tools are decent. However the anti-virus is lacking. When the system started acting funny, I did a scan from Panda to find I was infected with multiple malware. I took it off and put AVG back on, which cleared up the infection....more info
  • Easy to use anti-virus software... soon to disappear
I've been using OneCare for over a year now and love how easy it is to have all three computers in my house all backup to one external hard drive. It's also nice that I can see the security status of all the computers from my hub computer. OneCare is extremely easy to use and is unobtrusive. However, Windows recently said that in mid 2009 OneCare will no longer be available and will be replaced with a free anti virus program. That would be great if they weren't taking away all of the unique features that make this nice software. they are turning it into an AVG Free Edition like product with no features. Way to go Windows....more info
  • Not what I thought
First, get this on eBay if you have to have it for less than $20. Don't pay full price $49.99 because it is not worth it.

I had to try 3 times to get this thing to install properly. Computer is still slow and apparently has retained some malware with this LiveOneCare. The icon for this will be green for good, yellow for fair and red for at risk. I have had this installed on my computer for less than a week and the icon stays to 'fair' when it should be green for good since it is new and recently installed.

Go for something else, maybe Panda or some other anti-malware. This wasn't all it was cracked up to be. ...more info
  • Excellent product
I have used Norton for many years but grew weary of the price tag. I tried Windows One Care initally due to the low price plus Microsoft brand. I am most pleased. The sign up process was a bit tedious but once I got past that, the software is fantastic! My 2001 vintage computer now runs faster (I was shocked at the improvement). We can now print from our laptop to a printer hooked up to our desktop (the printer was not originally networkable). Did I mention the security is great and found some items Norton missed? Buy this security software. You will not regret it....more info
  • This is one of the best Antivirus i have seen
    Hi,

I have been using this Anti virus for the past one year and i am totally satisfied with this product and the best thing i like is it takes less memory while scanning then other anti virus and the thing is it tunes automatically every week that way i don't have to do defragment now and then. So for better system performance i recommend this product for all who needs security, anti virus and performance of the system. Also it has a facility to backup at your chosen location...more info

I have used the trial use of this product online for 90 days and really liked it, but when I went to subscribe to it, it was almost double the cost to download it online compared to purchasing it and installing it myself. • Decent if you Don't Upgrade a Second Year
Microsoft Live OneCare is satisfying in that it takes choice and complexity away from this type of software but it gives you too little control in terms of reviewing reports of its actions. I was pleased with it the first year I used but had a major issue trying to re-new it from a purchase of it from Amazon. Getting a tech support # to call was unbelievably frustrating, and after this experience, will settle on something different next year. ...more info
  • Using this for three years
I like this program because it presents no clutter. I've had Norton in the past and it was very intrusive and pesky. It runs through the internet and that is its appeal. Some people don't like it but I believe it is the single most cost effective way to protect your investment. Good stuff....more info
  • unuseable-couldn't install -sorry I purchased this
I purchased this product with great anticipation, but now am very discouraged. I tried 3 different times to install this product and every time it failed. Why, I don't know. • Proven Reliabiliy
I have used this product for over a year now and just renewed my subscription. I was unable to purchase online and had to buy the product again and just utilised the product license to update my subscription. What really impressed me was the ease with which my other installations of the product picked up the license update even though I made the update from a machine that was not the hub pc. I have been hapilly virus free since my purchase and my PC performance has remained unchanged with the constant tune-ups it runs. Beautiful product....more info

  • Must Have!
For years I have used Norton. Continually had lock up problems with my computer, continually got Malware, spam, and viruses. This solved all those problems. An ALL-IN-ONE program, It is SET IT AND FORGET IT. You schedule times for scans, virus removals, etc. and you are set. It works in the background so, there is no constant interuption of your work and it does not bog down your computer when it is running. The virus scan is fast and thorough. I would recommend it to anyone, especially those running VISTA. It also includes backup for your system, you can back up to DVD or a central location, and option for signing up for online backup. It is great. Fantastic price. Less than a 1/3 of other products and offers more....more info

  • Now, It's Easier to Protect Your Computer
Finding reliable and easy to use software that protects your computer from viruses and other terrible attacks is easy. I've now been using this product for six months and feel strongly that it beats Norton or McAfee by a mile.

It was easy to install and does all its work quietly behind the scenes. You are not bombarded with continuous messages questioning if you want your computer to do this or that. But, Windows Live OneCare 2.0 is doing its job.

    I highly recommend this product.

  • Seems to work good
I haven't had this product very long, but Amazon is requesting a review already, so I can't give a final rating, and I'll give it three stars. It seems to work fine, I don't notice much slowdown in performance. I did see some things stop working though, and after four weeks, still trying to get them resolved. These are external programs like e-bill notifications. They don't work now. But I don't know if OneCare is the issue or not yet. So my review is too early; sorry....more info
  • RIP OneCare.
This great product is being put out to pasture by Microsoft. A new offering (code named "Morro") will provide the anti-malware features of OneCare...free.

OneCare WILL NOT work with the upcoming Windows 7.

If you decide to buy OneCare, MS will support your product for the term of your subscription. The antivirus engine is virtually the same as contained in its admirable enterprise product called ForeFront Client Security. The basic structure of OneCare is solid.

OneCare does a lot more than just protect your computer from malware. It has performance, stability and backup features that are easy and reliable to run.

    [...].

Goodbye, OneCare. You were a great product, but I'm guessing that Microsoft has bigger, better plans on the horizon with its Morro project. ...more info

This software isn't meant to be as explained by Microsoft. You have to uninstall it and reinstall it constantly. Always has problems. Suppose to work in the background to protect your computer. Well, it does not do that. I had gotten a virus in my computer and then had to restore my PC. After this, I uninstalled it for good. If I had known all of this before I purchased it, I surely would not have bought it. The free virus protection works 100% better and doesn't have to be uninstalled over and over....more info

  • Microsoft is terminating Live OneCare
I was about to purchase OneCare to renew my subscription when I found out accidentally that Microsoft would be terminating Live OneCare come June 2009. The news was shocking and it actually made me angry because I have invested a significant amount of time installing it on various computers and learning how to use its functionality. In place of OneCare, Microsoft will be introducing a free antivirus called Morro. When I spoke with the call center people in the Philippines who service the OneCare account, they assured me that I can proceed with the purchase as support will still be offered. Having tried and tested the `support' Microsoft offers for OneCare, I have to say that it really is not a selling point. The announcement to pull out of the antivirus market was made in November 2008 and the forum that Microsoft ran to take care of OneCare issues was taken down in December 2008.

It infuriates me that Microsoft did not think it necessary to tell its customers that the software they are relying on will no longer be made available and users whose license runs out after June 2009 will simply be bludgeoned with the news that they can no longer renew. Since Morro is not slated to be released until early 2010, this leaves a lot of people who trusted Microsoft in a limbo.

I do not have a problem with OneCare, and would actually have happily used it if Microsoft made it available, but I do have an issue with how Microsoft is treating its paying customers over its decision to withdraw from the antivirus market. We are the people who allowed Microsoft to recover their development costs and we deserve to be treated with more respect!...more info
  • Great
I am a tech and I love this product. I have it on all my PC's which I have four. I have it on all my customers machines which are many. Anyone that says this is not for techie should use Mcafee or symantec because you have to be a techie to use them. In the last 2 years Symantec has going so far down hill that anyone that still uses it I feel sorry for them. Windows onecare provides all I need as well as all my customer need. Granted it does work on server but I like to keep a good eye on my server and not let automatics run them. I am tired of fixing problems with Symantec. I have been running Windows Onecare from the start and any problem I have had their support has fix them within a couple of days with emails. My customer love the ease of use and the built in backup. I have not had a virus or spyware problems on any of the systems since I have put this on. I reccomend it to all my customers. It is the first thing I put on any system I build.
I am a tech with 30 years experience and for my money this is a great product. For me $50 for 3 computers for a year is a great price....more info
  • Excellent product, but do not buy
OneCare is a great software suite that is extremely easy to install and integrates well into a Windows environment. The only reason I say not to purchase this is the fact that it is scheduled to be discontinued in June 2009. It will be replaced by Microsoft with a free software suite codenamed Morro. OneCare will continue to be supported until Morro ships....more info
  • Great For The First 20 months
In Feb 07, after reading horrible reviews of Norton and McAfee internet security software, I decided to go with the relatively untested Microsoft Onecare. I had no complaints until last week when Onecare failed to detect and remove a Trojan Downloader. I spent hours running scans (one in safe mode) and all I got was a message saying it could not be removed-- all this despite assurances from Onecare technical support that it would correct the problem. The Trojan disabled my firewall and after the two unsuccessful scans, I spent another 3 1/2 hours on the phone working to restore the firewall. I'll have to say that Onecare technical support was patient and tried to resolve the issue but the fact remains that Onecare let me down. I'm still having issues pulling up web pages. For those thinking about Onecare, you might want to choose another security software program as I read Microsoft will no longer sell Onecare after June 2009. That speaks volumes....more info
  • Works fine for me
After trying a few antivirus products, I found that none integrate with the windows operating system better that this one (Obviously, because they created the OS also). It does everything you need it to do and it does it well. I have 3 computers using it and I can check the status of all 3 from my laptop. Great product overall, I'm happy with it. ...more info
