Attempts To Fill A Niche. A new product released by a new company, mix.1 has marketed five flavours for its protein and antioxidant drinks, of which this mango product promises to give the most uncommon taste. Its texture is very smooth, almost medicinal, and certainly avoids the grainy aftertaste of competitors. It is advertised as being "all-natural", but that can mean almost anything at this time. The stated contents for its eleven ounce bright yellow plastic bottle reveals that it contains 15 grams of protein. Unfortunately, 22 grams of sugars are also listed, obviously to make the drink flavourful; these include organic cane sugar, various juice concentrates, and the ubiquitous "natural flavor". There are 200 calories included, with only 2.5 grams of fat, while three grams of fiber are to be theoretically employed to slow sugar metabolization, and the second listed ingredient, whey protein isolate, will impede the assimilation of sugars into the blood stream, thereby controlling blood sugar response. All in all, a nice try to provide a top-quality protein drink, easily assimilable and good-tasting....more info
Fine Taste, Good Holding Power This has a pleasant, though not exceptionally wonderful, orange-y taste, without the protein aftertaste of some other protein drinks. It does have an "after-smell", though, of protein powder. This isn't terribly off-putting, but it is noticeable.
I drank it for breakfast and it did hold me until lunch, with no GI side-effects.
With the exception of the slight smell, mix 1 Mango was a pleasant protein meal substitute.
Best Energy Drink Out There Since I have hypoglycemia, I sometimes need a quick boost in order to make myself something to eat. Looking at all the energy drinks, the one thing I need is lacking and that is protein. If the energy drinks have protein in it, they lack in other nutrients. Or they are also overpriced. I tried the Naked Protein drinks, and do not like them. They taste very powdery. This energy drink has all the nutrients that I need, including protein, doesn't taste bad, and is cheaper than Nakeds! I like the mango drink specifically because mango is a strong flavor and the other drinks, it is hard to taste the fruit flavor.
I will be honest, if you're like me, and you're on a bad diet, you will have diarrhea for a long period of time, but that is because all the nutrients are flushing out all the bad stuff in your body. So it is perfectly normal if this happens. Antioxidents will do that.
I recommend this drink to everyone, whether you have health problems or not. It's not a permenant fix to bad dieting, but it is a place to start....more info
Tasty This is a pretty good drink, with a good taste. Goes down easy, although it does have a bit of an aftertaste....more info
Too weird for me This drink was just too weird for me. It is kind of a thick milky juice, which is just not really my thing. It is drinkable, I just don't see myself doing very often. If your some one who really needs a source of protein etc, you may like this product more....more info
Nice drink to start the morning Nice tasting drink to start the morning. Gave me enough energy to reach noon without anything else to eat....more info
Just not my thing I suppose I am just picky with energy/nutrition drinks. I didn't like the texture/thickness of this one. I have tried both the berry and now the mango, and both were'nt really my thing. I wasn't too fond of the flavour of eother.
I also found the size kind of small, I would've preferred a more "meal replacement" size. Because of the shelf life, it's a good thing to take on the go, but I prefer my drinks chilled and really cold. I would rather go for a more refreshing drink, but that being said, at around 2 bucks a bottle, the price isn't really so bad. And contents (all that protein and vitamins and minerals) IS pretty impressive....more info
Great but... With 15 grams of Protein, you just cannot look away from this drink if you are trying to build yourself. The taste, however, is a bit thicker than most juices. And at $25 for a pack of 12 at the time of writing, I would rather recommend Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey, Double Rich Chocolate, 5.15-Pound Tub instead....more info
Great Taste, Bad After-Dryness It has a very strong mango taste which I enjoy but less than a second after, my mouth went extra-dry as though I haven't drank water for a week. Even my sister tried it and she experienced the same....more info
Chalky, sweet. Keep looking. The nutrition is acceptable in this drink, but the sweet, thick chalkiness made it hard to choke down. I didn't hate it, but I'd hate to pay that kind of money and then feel obligated to drink them up! There are much better choices....more info
soylent orange Sort of a fruity protein smoothie, unobjectionable but not exactly delicious. Is it a high-calorie treat, or a functional beverage? Health food, or overly synthetic sludge? Mix 1 seems like a product of the future, or a potion from a videogame. As a meal replacement, probably not too unhealthy. ...more info
the taste grows on you This product taste ok and has protein and antioxidants. I think I wouldn't mind having it on hand when I want to grab and go....but I can make a better smoothy with lots of healthy additions for less cost if I have the time...and i usually have 5 minutes....more info
Decent tasting Mix1 is a decent tasting antioxidant drink. It's a thick creamy mango flavor and has superior nutrition, giving you balanced energy. It also has every vitamin under the sun in it.
Devloped by a guy named Dr. James, it's a balance of complete nutrition, flavor and convenience. You can drink mix before or after your work-out, mealtime or anytime. This product claims to put you back in balance.
The product has 15 grams of premium whey protein isolate.
23 vitamins and minerals
3 servings of fruits and vegetables
Antioxidants equal to 4 cups of green tea.
Free of Lactose, Gluten, soy and caffeine
I've tried drinks like this before and this one is definitely not a "bad tasting" drink, but i've had better. So it's so-so and it has nutrition and antioxidants in it. What I noticed is it kind of leaves your throat a little dry after drinking it.
I probably wouldn't buy it. I'm sure I can find better alternatives out there or just drink green tea and eat vegetables if I want to get health benefits rather than having my throat be dry after drinking it.
You can take it or leave it depending on what you're looking for. The longer I think about it and the more I taste it the less I like it. I'd rate this drink somewhere between 2 and 3 stars.
Mix 1 is flavorable and handy to have, but where are 2 and 3 The premise of the mix 1 drink is energy and nutrition with a slew of vitamins and minerals, and 22 grams of sugar, more than I need. The calorie count is 200. Since I will not be able to detect if it has given me energy, I can only reveal what the taste is. I would need to have more drinks to determine quality of energy product. Plus, I would even need more drinks consumed to let you know if I really accept the taste.
With the title of the product called mix 1, that indicates to me that there may be a 2 or a 3 supplemental drinks. The drink is favorable to me as a protein drink and good for a quick-fix in case you have sweetened cravings.
The taste is fruity, the drink is smooth, not too thick, not too thin, and the package is convenient. It is free of lactose, gluten, soy and especially caffeine (good to know). However, it's the 22 grams of sugar that may keep me away. Rizzo
Mango Tango Sometimes...many times...I get so involved with what I am doing that I forget to eat. You might think that's a godsend, but it's really not. When we don't supply our body with some protein and good quality carbs every few hours our health can take a dip and I'm not just talking physical health, but mental, emotional, and spiritual health, as well. We are a unified field and what affects a part of our being affects the whole.
That is why I am so glad that I stumbled onto this product. I can keep these in the fridge or in my little cooler bag and just drink one between clients or before or after I workout. What I noticed is that after just drink one of these things is that I am not hungry at all for another three hours or so.
A lot of people complained about the taste. I actually find it rather refreshing, but I must warn you, this stuff tastes infinitely better cold than it does warm. It also tastes great with a shot of Vodka thrown in --
just kidding -- just making sure you are paying attention.
The reason why most people who are on a diet don't lose weight is because they don't nourish their bodies frequently enough and then when they do eat, thy are so famished that they want to eat everything. I guarantee if you keep a few of these on hand and drink one between regular healthy meals plus have a solid exercise routine you will lose the weight you desire and it won't be muscle weight but fat.
These bodies are the vehicles of our souls, our minds, and hearts. We need them to be healthy, strong, and vital for as long as we can. This little product nourishes me not just physically but because I'm stoking my "furnace" on a regular basis I'm also more mentally clear and emotionally balanced which brings me a great deal of spiritual happiness.
Do the "Mango Tango" and radiate your healthy light in all that you are a part of.
Peace & Blessings,
john, 'the Light Coach'...more info

Helps with energy levels but has a few areas that might be corrected Understand: because of chronic pain, I may be up for most of a night. This, of course, exhausts me.
Furthermore: gasoline prices are fluctuating, and the long lines at the gas stations (the day before, they'd stretched beyond a city block). This is relevant because I wanted to be up at the crack of dawn, when the local station opened. Getting up earlier than usual on my day off is never enjoyable, and even less fun after a combined HOUR of sleep.
Needless to say - on this morning in which I'd planned to leave early, I was up all night.
I considered making a pot of coffee before I left, but I had just gotten the mix 1 Mango, and I NEEDED "sustained energy to get you through your busy day." I didn't want a canned, carbonated energy drink quite so early, and felt that this would be perfect.
The drinks market does not offer nearly enough mango. For the most part, this tasted like nice, creamy mango lassi. There was a calcium aftertaste (20% of the daily recommended dosage), but not as bad as, calcified orange juice, for example. I was a bit disappointed at the amount that clung to the inside of the bottle and, furthermore, that the #5 stamp on the bottle is not recyclable in my geographic area.
I left for my errands. I didn't have a nasty burst of energy that some products offer but I was awake enough to accomplish what I needed to do. When the errands were done, rather than go back to bed, I was surprised to find that, while I was a bit tired, I made it through my day. I didn't even take my usual afternoon nap.
While the following may not be true for others, I'd like to note that I do not process liquid sugars well. (A glass of orange juice has been intolerable.) Perhaps because of the proteins (?), the 22g of sugar did not make me sick. It might be worth a try for other people with this physical annoyance!
The recycling bit bothers me, although I'm sure that there ARE areas of the US that will, indeed, recycle #5 empties.
The calcium aftertaste was a bit of a turn-off, but not enough to keep me from this otherwise tasty, helpful drink that's a lot cheaper than a takeout smoothie....more info
Not too sweet no after taste There are two things I have found about nutritional drinks. Most have way too many sugars and other have a powdery after taste. Some even have both!
Mix 1 Mango has a nice balance between sweet and tangy with no after taste. The texture is smooth and not overly thick.
Great taste, well balance nutrition and it avoids a lot of the common food allergens.
Because it is packaged in a light weight plastic recyclable bottle it is lighter weight than many of the other meal replacement drinks.
Chuckful of vitamins and 15 grams of protein makes this a good meal replacement Mix 1 Mango drink is a good meal replacement or a shake before/after workout. The best way to describe the taste is barely-sweeted, mango-flovored, smooth buttermilk.
21 vitamins and minerals. Only 2.5 grams of fat, 15 grams of protein, 379 mg of potassium, as well as 3 grams of fiber.
22 grams of sugar per bottle and it still doesn't sweeten the shake completely. People with sweet tooth will feel cheated.
The Bottom Line: Great little shake. However, with all the similar products out there, it barely stands out as the top product.
Healthful When I took my first sip, it was a bit strange, as I could definetly taste the vitamins. But I sipped it slowly, and the taste grew on me. I think if I used this often, I would get to love the taste. It's not overly sweet, and is made with organic cane sugar, and real mango. It tastes very nutritious, and would make a nice snack or light meal. One thing I didn't like was the bottle. I drank the product straight from it's container, and it was hard to get the last couple of teaspoons out, as the rim is sharp and an awkward design. It would be better to pour it in a glass first. But if it was reasonably priced, I would probably buy it....more info
Healthy and Delicious For once I can say that a nutrition drink is actually great tasting and apparently good for me, too.
It is not chaulky, bulky or sickeningly sweet. As a matter of fact, it reminded me of an Orange Julius only without the sugar content and certainly much more convenient from right out of my refrigerator.
I couldn't tell if it was giving me any additional energy benefits, but I do know that I completed the container and went out and hit tennis balls for about an hour without feeling bloated or wired.
I can't wait to find out what other flavors are available so that I can add a little variety to the mix. This one is definetly a keeper.
Delicious, creamy texture, filling The mango mix 1 drink I received was packaged in a nice plastic container with an insulating cover such that being in the fridge didn't make the container chill my hand when reaching for it. I thought this was a neat packaging method as I dislike the feel of something too cold, especially in the morning, on my hands when I want to grab a drink to take with me.
I was unsure the taste would satisfy me since this is labeled as a protein drink. Usually one finds gritty tasting as a better way of defining the taste of such things. Not the case here. The mango flavor is not overpowering by being too sweet, but simply just at the right balance. There's a creamy texture to the drink, which helps satisfy an empty stomach. There was no aftertaste at all ,something I'm sure most people are concerned about. Overall, this is a very well balanced drink, and at only 200 calories, is not too bad.
I enjoyed my drink quite a bit and will look forward to purchasing some in the future. I think these would go a long way towards those days when you just want something to munch on but don't want to load yourself with empty calories with junk food. ...more info
Vile If you have ever had drinkable yogurt, you will have an idea of the texture of this drink. It is not quite that consistency--not quite so thick--but close.
How does it taste? It tastes just like a dairy-based product that could use a bit more sweetener. Whatever it IS, that is how it TASTES.
My entire family sampled it. My kids (ages 4-8) thought it was okay, but didn't ask for a second sip. My wife thought it was tolerable, but not good.
Decent Drink The closest product that I can think that the Mix reminds me of is the Tropicana fruit smoothie drinks, although this one does not have as much flavor as the Tropicana smoothies. While I would not drink this on a regular basis it is a decent mix, full of nutrients and vitamins. Drink this is you want to get a good dose of protein and antioxidants. ...more info
Nutritional Powerhouse! Contrary to other reviews I actually found the overall flavor of mix1's Mango drink to be surprisingly tasty. Then again I had my bottle sitting in the freezer for about 40 minutes and when I poured it into a glass it was partially frozen with bits of micro ice here and there. I quickly chugged the ice-cold concoction down after a 30 minute jog and found the flavor and consistency to be tasty - something that actually seems very familiar to Jamba Juice aficionados. So my advice - drink it ice cold if possible. Also worthy of mention is the brute force nutrition packed into this little 11 ounce bottle. Finishing off one of these little babies is the equivalent of eating a bundle of fruit along with 4 cups of green tea for its antioxidant properties. Give it a try and see if you find the taste agreeable - if so you've just found a fantastic nutritional beverage supplement....more info
Healthy, delicious and convenient I don't drink too many fruit drinks, but I got this for my wife to see what she thought of it. It was a pretty big hit. Looks like I'll be getting more of it. Here's what she had to say about it:
"The mango drink was really yummy. The texture was a little grainy, but not bothersome. It tasted a lot like fruity baby food. I like baby food (yes, I've tried it!) so it wasn't a turn off for me, but may be for others. Mango flavored health drinks are few and far between so it was nice to have something beyond berry, chocolate, or vanilla.
Though it's not advertised, the ingredients appear to be vegan (no animal products, not even milk!) which ought to be a great selling point for a protein/health shake. There can't be many out there that are pre-made and vegan.
It's healthy, delicious, and convenient! I loved it!...more info
Smooth Like Smoothie mix 1 Mango looks like a sports drink but goes down like a smoothie. I'm not sure how they managed the milky consistency, but I like it. It is a refreshing change from other "energy" drinks which are just water with added nutrients. This one feels more like a meal. My title may be a bit misleading, because it isn't quite a smoothie. It also isn't your run of the mill drink either. It finds a nice, fulfilling balance somewhere in the middle.
My experience was pleasant. It went down smooth and tasted great. The reason I gave it four stars is because I didn't receive any real benefits which I could feel and quantify(lack of hunger, maybe). mix 1 Mango gave me no added energy, but no stomachache either (which is common with these types of drinks in my experience).
Would I recommend these? Certainly. I do think they cater to a carb and protein starved diet, maybe someone doing long distance cycling or running. I had mine with a side of gardening. Due to their targeted nature, I'd suggest trying to pick up one before buying a 12 pack....more info
mix 1 Mango I liked the flavor of this drink, not chemical tasting like lots of other nutrition drinks. It was also smoother, not a lot of grittiness like the protein drinks that are common with the gym crowd, more like a yogurt drink than anything else. This drink advertises itself as an energy drink, but this doesn't have caffeine like many of the popular energy drinks, so it won't make you nervous....more info
Go Mango! I'm not a big fan of protein drinks. Most of them taste more of the carton than the ingredients. Mix 1 Mango was a nice surprise. The taste is refreshing. It's brighter than those same old same old chemical strawberry, banana and chocolate flavors found in most food replacement beverages. This does have that genuine Mango smack...it could have used more, but at least it's there. The label lists all the stuff in contains, which sounds quite thorough and scientific. I gather it gives you all the essentials we should get from a meal in terms of nutrition, vitamins, minerals, etc., with extra bells and whistles like anti-oxidant protection. For me,the taste was all important. I don't care how good for me the product is, if it tastes like glue, I won't drink it. This was tasty, refreshing and -- another surprise -- filling. I took the bottle to work with me, promptly forgot about it, and then one day was rooting around looking for a lunch I didn't have to go out for and re-discovered by liquid lunch. I enjoyed it, it kept me satisfied until abou 5:00 or so, when i could have used another one. Still, that's a good four or five hours without hunger pangs. If I didn't love food so much, I'd buy this stuff for the convenience.
Nice flavor and good for you I've sampled the Mix 1 Berry drink and now the Mix 1 Mango drink and while they're both pretty good, I do prefer the mango version. It seems to have less of a vitamin smell to it and I like the taste better.
You probably already know that this drink is loaded with good stuff. It provides about 1/3 of your RDA of most vitamins and 70% of your RDA for vitamin C.
My only gripe would be that it's a bit expensive at almost $2 per bottle, but I do think it's a good product. Ideal uses would be as a fitness drink, for meal replacement or as a convenient snack. All-in-all, I think it's a very good product and I recommend it....more info
Great product My husband and I decided to try the mango flavor after coming home from a very hard day of physical outdoor labor in the hot Texas sun. We were both surprised by how good this product tasted and how quickly we felt replenished and revived.
It's a little tangy, but the mango taste is excellent. It was nice and thick, creamy actually. We did not find it chalky or gritty like some protein drinks. Also, it did not have that strong vitamin taste we have come to expect with other products. We both felt a lift shortly after drinking it, which was surprising since there is no caffeine in the drink. For the nutritional content, taste, and texture of this product, you just can't beat it. The only problem was that we had only one bottle so we had to share it!
We liked it so much that we just ordered a case of the blueberry-vanilla flavor to try. Sure, it's a couple of bucks a bottle, but since it will be a noontime meal replacement while working out in the hot sun, we consider it a bargain....more info
not bad! Decent taste for being a "health drink". A little chalky, but not so much as some other "meal drinks" that are so bad you can't finish them. Pretty thick. Better than I would have expected, but not super. ...more info
Thin and a bit metallic I am a triathlete and runner and I've tried a lot of nutritional products at races, especially drink products. This one just doesn't rate up at the top of those I've tried. This drink had a decent fruit flavor but it was thin with a bit of a metallic aftertaste. The one thing it did have going for it was that it was not as sweet as most. This isn't one I'll be fitting into my training program. ...more info
Health Drink This drink is fortified by vitamins and minerals. It is all natural sweetened with cane sugar and evaporated cane juice. One serving contains 200 calories.
It is flavored with mango and apple juice concentrates. It also contains olive oil and pectin.
The taste is not the greatest, sweetest, but this is a health drink and unfortunately most health drinks and shakes aren't the best tasting beverages, but keep in mind this is a very healthy, nutritious drink.
I added a little honey to mine and got over the taste issue.
I recommended this beverage to anyone wanting a healthy vitamin and mineral drink in the convenience of a can.
Great as a frozen treat I tried a bottle of this frozen to icy level and found it delicious. I was expecting a chalky taste common with protein drinks, but didn't taste anything unpleasant.
I'm not a nutrition expert, but most of the ingredients sounds like good stuff. Whey protein isolate is said by some to be preferable to whey protein concentrate. This product contains the former. Pectin is a plant fiber ingredient that many attribute with health benefits. Various juices, vitamins, and minerals are also on the label.
200 calories are reported.
This product has cane sugar, if you are one of those who avoids sugar skip it. For myself, I prefer regular sugar, and avoid substitutes, so for me that ingredient is better, but still should be limited. There are 22g of sugar in this 11 ounce bottle. A glass of water has none, an average 12 ounce can of pop has 38g-41g depending on the brand, some juices can have even more. That should put the quantities in perspective for you to choose for yourself.
Are you getting anything good along with your sugar fix getting satiated is a good question. I'm desperately trying to kick the pop habit, so that's where I'm coming from. This product is much better than that.
I think I'm going to buy more because the taste was pleasing to me, it doesn't contain anything I avoid, and there are some good things in it. I'm also going to try other flavors....more info
Not My Cup of Tea I didn't really like the taste of the "mango" flavor, unlike the "berry" version of this beverage. When chilled, the drink has the basic taste and consistency of liquid yogurt. My biggest problem with the product is that it seems to be marketed as some kind of high-protein nutrition drink. I pay close attention to labels and I have tried numerous different high-protein nutrition supplements. You will find many of these drinks or mixes available from Syntrax, EAS, Muscletech, Atkins, etc. The thing that makes Mix1 different from quality products like those above is its excessive amount of SUGAR. At 22 grams, it has more sugar than chocolate milk, more than most fruit juices and 20 times what you will find in most healthy protein drinks. It includes twice as many carbohydrates 29g as protein and a whopping 200 calories. If you are trying to lose weight or gain muscle mass, this product is NOT going to help. If you want quick energy with antioxidants and lots of sugar, just fruit juice would be a better choice. It's much cheaper and about as healthy. If you have Diabetes, you should avoid Mix1 altogether, as it will definitely spike your glucose blood sugar levels beyond where you want them....more info
Mmmmmm This drink reminded me of the Slim Fast pineapple orange drink I used to always get for my on the go breakfasts. I found the taste delicious and I was surprisingly satisfied after drinking. I didn't feel empty or still hungry.
I like running in the mornings but have to be careful on how much I consume before I go. Too little and I end up light headed and woozy, too much and I end up feeling like I am going to get sick. I found this to be the perfect boost/meal before my morning run.
I would definitely buy this product again and I would love to try the other flavors. Yummy!
Not my thing but my 5 year old loved it! Chalky, milky tasting drinks with a touch of mango flavor are really not my forte so I can report that I did not care for this drink at all and I do love mango. That being said, my 5 year old absolutely loved it and drank almost the entire bottle within minutes, asking for more. As I said, it is a very chalking textured drink and I personally did not detect too much mango but hey it's one more thing my very picky eater enjoyed so it definately deserves the 3 stars I gave it!...more info
Mild, but better tasting than Ensure I like mangos, so I was looking forward to this. It's pretty mild as mango-flavored foods go, but tastes fine. I have tried Ensure and prefer this. It doesn't taste so fake. Kinda like a thin smoothie....more info
mix1 Mango . . . mixed review I like the fact that this little bottle contains 15 grams of whey protein, along with the equivalent of 3 servings of fruits/vegetables. Being lactose-intolerant, I also appreciate the fact that it does not contain lactose. However, I'm not sure if those positives outweigh the taste and consistency of this RTD, which I did not care for. I was not able to drink the entire bottle at one sitting. I'd certainly give it a go if another flavor was available, but Mango just didn't do it for me....more info
Mix 1 Mango Protein and Antioxident drink falls short I get a big kick out of trying new things. Especially new drinks that are supposed to be healthy for you. Mix 1's Mango Protein and Antiodixent drink is one of those drinks that I put on my list to try so when it was offered for review I jumped on it.
I should have stayed low to the ground on this one. While the drink does not have a 'mango' smell per say, you can definately tell that the flavor is mango. That is the good part. The not so good part is the taste. I was not expecting the after taste nor the chalky like feel of the actual drink. That surprised me and in fact, I felt like I was drinking milk of magnesia or some other sort of liquid antacid.
The vitamins stated to be in this drink are important ones. Antioxidents are important and the Mix 1 Mango Protein and Antioxident drink clearly states them in the ingredients. Other vitamins make up a small but tidy vitamin enriched drink.
For the size, you might be able to get over the taste. The health factor of this drink could be important enough to drink it no matter how hard it is to drink. But for me, I have to have a pleasant taste and this drink does not have it. ***Natalie S. for Amazon Vine***...more info
Very Tasty- And Good For You Too!! The mix 1 Mango protein and antioxidant drink was very tasty- something I wouldn't mind drinking. It is labeled to be used before or after a workout or at mealtime- or anytime. It provides 15 grams of protein, 23 vitamins and minerals, 3 servings of fruit/veggies, and antioxidants equal to 4 cups of green tea. It does contain 22 g of sugars, but if you are using it as a meal replacement or in place of a snack it is more than likely less than what you would have eaten. The sugar comes from organic cane and organic cane juice.
The flavor of the drink is very good; a tart citrus like flavor, but it is a bit sweet. I liked it, but if you don't want a sweet energy drink, this may not be for you.
The ingredients are natural and the flavor is good, if you are in the market for a product like this I would recommend the mix1 Mango, I know I will be buying it in the future!
A little hard to swallow at first, but it got smoother It might have helped if I drank this cold, but I ended up drinking it luke warm. At first it was hard to swallow because it was like chugging down a bottle of powdered vitamins. But the more I drank, the smoother it got and I began to enjoy it.
For myself, an avid Mango eater, I really didn't taste much Mango. The smell is there, but not much mango taste. It didn't really bother me so the point was moot for me.
It does have about 22g of sugar, and that's probably what helped smoothed the drink down.
The drink was fluidly thick, but no worse than buying a smoothie with the vitamin powder thrown in.
Overall, I was a little skeptical when I first drank it. But I did finish it in one sitting. I would recommend this product, but drink it cold though....more info
Mixed Reaction As someone who'd rather sleep than wake early and fix breakfast before work, I've been looking for a meal replacement. Carnation Instant breakfast, though tasty, didn't agree with my usually iron-willed stomach. I drank Mix 1 this morning on an empty stomach as a breakfast replacement.
The first sip was delicious and somehow reminded me of melted sherbet. More sips and I think it tastes rather like thick orange juice whipped to a froth. I don't like the coated feeling left on the back of my tongue. I finished the bottle with a little effort. It took a cup of water to wash that coated sensation away. Mix 1 has 200 calories for each 11 oz. bottle, but I don't find it particularly filling. I do like that it's not grainy like Juicy Juice's attempt at blending fruits and vegetables into a drink.
All in all, I think it'd make a good occasional meal replacement, but it's not something I would make a part of my regular routine. It tastes WAY better than I would expect of an all natural health drink but I could see myself quickly growing tired of it if I had it every day. Since Mix 1 includes the equivalent of 3 servings of fruits/veggies and the same amount of antioxidants found in 4 cups of tea , I boosted what would have been a score of 3 stars for taste and texture to 4 stars all around. Not too tasty The first thought I had when I tried this was, "Mmmm pretty good, velvety, & creamy." My second thought was, "Wait, tastes like vitamins." It had a familiar aftertaste it took a moment for me to think what it was - Slim Fast! If you've ever had the fruit flavored Slim Fast ready to drink in a can, then you have a pretty darn good idea what this tastes like! I don't even know if Slim Fast makes that stuff anymore...
The best thing about it & mostly why I gave it three stars is I love that there are no artifical sweetners or flavors. It's sweetened with organic sugar! BUT it does contain "natural" flavors. Aka chemicals. I would grab this if my options were limited....more info
Delivers! (with some sugar) For a drink like this, both the taste and texture are smooth and delicious. Looking at the side of the container, it's easy to be impressed with the contents. You're really getting a lot in a small amount... and only 200 calories. (Although watch out; #3 and #4 on the ingredient list are variations of cane sugar.) My only gripe is that it's not as filling as I'd like it to be. For a lot of people, that's a plus. For me, I'd like a meal replacement that really made me feel full. I know that's not this drink's primary purpose, but as a man of the future, I continue to quest for the elusive Food Pill that so many science fiction pieces have promised. Until then, this is a great stop-gap. ...more info
Tastes good but dry First of all, it tastes O.K. You can tell mango in there. It packs quite a bit of vitamins. Judging from the label, they are not from real food. Most likely you are drinking a multi-vitamin pill. It has 15g of protein. On the other hand, it has 22g of sguar. I find it is a little bit too sweet.
This is more of a meal replacement than energy drink. The liquid is too thick to be a drink after workout. It comes in a small bottle. Very easy to carry. If you are always hurry in the morning, it is very convenient to grab one on the go.
Just like other energy drinks, it is not cheap: more than 2 bucks a bottle. I would suggest you make your own for several days at one time. You need a mixer, fruits, soy milk, and protein powder. It is fresh and cheap. You can also control how much water/soy milk you want to add to use for breakfast or something after workout....more info
Hard to Swallow! It was hard to finish this drink because the taste made it just a little too hard to swallow. I'm not a big fan of Mango so I'm giving it two stars in case Mango lovers might like it. I could tolerate this if I had too, but I wouldn't choose to drink it - especially not daily. ...more info
Like many organic juice products, you'll either love or hate it. As you've already read, the reviews on this "mix 1 Mango, Protein & Antioxidant Drink" are mixed @ best... pun intended ;). Of course, 'tis true for just about every organic juice product. Your tastes are as unique as your fingerprints, so you may hate it although Dwight @ The Office loves it.
With that said, @ $2 a bottle in this economy, if you want to gamble on a 12-pack of a beverage that you may love/hate, go with a cheaper product....more info
Not up to my expectations I suspect my disappointment with Mix 1 is a combination of high expectations from my love of Naked Juice and having been introduced to Mix 1 with its mango-flavored version. I'm impressed by all of the healthy goodness packed into each bottle but I didn't get the energy boost I expected nor a quick filler for a missed meal. Someone described it as like drinking yogurt and someone else compared the taste to chalk. Right on both counts. It's thick and a bit bland. Not entirely bad, but I'm glad I drank it heavily chilled. If I decide to give it another try I'll grab a flavor with a little more bang for my taste buds....more info
Better than most, but not perfect I am not the biggest fan of protein drinks, since even though they are "good for you", I do not enjoy their taste. In this case, the experience was much better than others, with the typical weird aftertaste managed to a minimum. However, I found the flavor to be a little on the bland side.
If you are looking for a boost of protein and vitamins that does not take a lot of time to consume, this is still one of the better options out there. I just wish that one day I would come across one of this products and say "Wow! This one tastes great"....more info
Utterly Unenjoyable I did not enjoy the taste of this drink and did not finish the full bottle. It reminds me of a flavored constipation medicine. You get about a third of the daily mininum requirements of the most common vitamins, but it also contains 22g of sugar. I also think that the packaging is unattractive; I could have designed it better myself. ...more info
Excellent drink, for the right person. Since it takes glasses and a magnifying glass to be able to read the ingredients, I'm going to do just that. The reason is that someone who decides to drink this may have food allergies or be diabetic: Whey Protein Isolate; Organic Cane Sugar -- these are the first two ingredients, which means the quantity (based on a 2000 calorie day) is significant. Onward: Organic Evaporated Cane Juice - I assume that is sugar cane since it is mentioned right after the sugar cane; then we go into the concentrates that are added Juice concentrates: Apple extract, light pectin, Olive oil (yes, that is correct) Citric Acid and Pectin. Next they add lactic acid, beet juice concentrate for color as well as bete-carotene for color.
If you understood all of those ingredients, then maybe the drink is for you. But if you are lactose intolerant, this is one drink you should skip.
It does list numerous vitamins; the quantity could be misleading because while you think you are getting 35% of your vitamin A for the day, that is only if you base your food ingestion on 2000 calories a day. For a petite woman, 2000 calories will fatten you up; a man can easily burn that many calories just maintaining his muscle structure.
Are there any benefits? Yes. If you can tolerate the ingredients well, then this is a healthy drink that can help you stay stronger and younger longer. Oxidation describes the loss of electrons by a molecule, atom or ion. Reduction describes the gain of electrons by a molecule, atom or ion. Reducing the oxidation slows aging.
I am a care giver for my 84 year old mother; she is very small and if she can't eat for a day, she could easiely drop 2-3 pounds. This drink, which she can tolerate, helps keep the pounds on her for those times when she is unable to swallow.
There are a variety of flavors, but I drank the Mango. The flavor lingered long after the bottle was empty, and that was pleasant. With the available selection, you probably can find one or more that you, or someone you must get food into, to drink.
Definitely try this drink. You will have more energy, it will help your nutrition when a meal is missed. Just know the possible problems.
Better than a soda I was excited to try this product. I frequently use powdered mixes (the kind you mix with milk) to make shakes like this for breakfast.
The eleven-ounce size is quite small. I'd need two for a meal replacement, at least.
The flavor is good--fruity, not fake-tasting. Maybe a bit sweeter than I'd like, but I'm really sensitive to sweet things; the sweetness would not be a deal-breaker for me. I'd buy it again.
The texture is great! I noticed olive oil is in the ingredients, and that might explain why this drink was very smooth consistency-wise. Significantly smoother than the powdered ones I mix with milk. Thinner, too--not so thick that you can't drink it, but not so thin that it is not a smoothie consistency.
Overall, it was easy to consume and probably way better for me than a soft drink. However, once I compared the ingredients to the powdered stuff in my cabinet, I deduced a couple of things: this has smaller amounts of vitamins and minerals (mine has close to 100% of the same list that this has significantly lower percentages of.) Also, I noticed the carbs and sugar were higher--so this might be better for a quick boost than if you're looking to use it as a meal replacement.
I have nothing bad to say about the beverage aside from the small size and that I compare it to a product I love that has better nutrition. Nature's Plus - Spiru-Tein Vanilla, 2.4 lb powder Oh, and a plastic bottle is frowned upon for landfill reasons these days. It is very tasty and certainly better than a coke nutrition-wise. ...more info
Easy nutrition for busy people This was a good, fast pick-me-up when the main meal was not in the immediate future. I expected the mango flavor to be stronger, though. ...more info
Delicious, if a wee bit too costly Unlike previous protein drinks that I've tried, "Mix 1 Berry" and "Mix 1 Mango" both are delicious nutrition drinks that I found myself actually enjoying. Previous reviewers have taken note of a chalky aftertaste and undue sourness, but I couldn't disagree with them more. The taste is strongly reminiscent of fruit-flavored yogurt, with lots of flavor and just the right amount of sweetness. I found no chalky aftertaste to be evident, and when chilled, was actually quite tasty. Yogurt lovers will definitely find something to enjoy here.
Loaded with vitamins and minerals, a satisfying taste, and (for those who are buying bulk) a long shelf life of 9 months, what's not to like? Well, if I have any caveat with this product, it is kind of pricey, even at a bulk price of around two dollars a bottle. Still, for those looking for a quick, healthy pick-me-up, you can do a lot worse. All in all, highly recommended. ...more info
Quite a ZONK! Don't drink at night! I don't normally drink these kinds of drinks due to the high sugar and caffeine levels that can totally addict someone. This product was different. I unfortunately drank it at night, which really revved up the energy level at a time when I wanted to sleep. Not the product's fault, but did demonstrate its effectiveness. The drink tastes a bit tangy, almost medicine-like. With the high vitamin and mineral content, it would be worth it for an extra dose. Taken with a reasonable meal and diet & exercise program, this drink would promote health. I would not recommend it as a replacement for meals. Yummy!...more info
Good Taste, and Healthy. This drink was a pleasant surprise. I liked the Mango flavor, and I didn't notice any unpleasant aftertaste like some other reviewers did. In fact, I liked this drink because it didn't leave a bad taste in my mouth the way other bottled fruit drinks do. Though there is quite a bit of sugar, I don't believe that any of the sugar is artifically added. The drink is made from fruit puree, after all.
However, although I like the idea of a healthy bottled drink that tastes like it's from Jamba Juice, I don't think I would pay $25/dozen for them. It didn't fill me up enough to take the place of a meal, nor did it give me a noticeable energy boost. But if you just want a quick smoothie drink packed with vitamins, Mix1 is a fine way to go. I prefer it to Odwalla or Naked smoothie drinks, actually. ...more info
Is that really mango? Or Just Tango? Usually anything nutritious is a warning to me, usually that it either tastes "funny" or that it's just bland. Can't say that this mix1 mango flavor is bland, but it does taste funny in a strange medicine kind of way.
I like the flavor in a "I'm thirsty, I want to keep tasting this" kind of way. This is probably a great drink for after exercising, or a replacement/snack meal if you don't have anything else as this drink has alot of protein and anti-oxidants. It's pretty good cold but nothing quite that special, not exactly like having a fresh mango and blending it and drinking it down.
A suitable substitute if you don't have time to eat fruit or just like shakes, otherwise still reminds me of a well-flavored medicine drink!...more info
Good anytime of the day (3.5 stars) When I first tasted this flavor I initially thought it was kind of bland. Then I shook it up a little more and finished the bottled and it actually didn't taste bad at all. It has a light mango taste to it that is not too sweet. The drink is packed with many different vitamins and can be used as a healthy drink at any point in the day. I think I liked it because I drank it before a workout and it didn't make me feel really full and bogged down. this i decent drink and is highly recommended...more info
