I stopped following Naruto a few years ago, but this game was so epic it turned me into a Narutard again ;_; Gorgeous graphics made with all the Naruto passion in the world *tears of joy* ...more info
- it miss something
the gameplay is superb, the history is awesome but miss things "to do", the fighting system is better than the others fighting games, maybe the only bad thing is the characters, i mean, there are more than they show in this game. is PS3 and i think they have to do it better.
in general, this is the best fighting style game of naruto series and better than otherones too...more info
- Naruto Fans -- Enjoy
This isn't a bad game. There is a known bug with the audio messing up (annoyingly so) when you finish combat in certain situations. Other than that the game runs smoothly with no hiccups.
The good sides: the VS matches are very fun in a Tekken kind of way. I, personally, enjoyed the Tekken series and this is like a Naruto ninja version of it. Also, I was pleasantly surprised that the original Japanese Seiyu (Voice Actors) are in it. You can choose English or Japanese voice-overs which is great. I watched this series in Japanese so I prefer it the way I heard it to begin with (just as people who enjoyed the English version would). The ability to choose either is very nice. Also the animation is great -- it's like playing through the series itself.
Downsides: the biggest thing is the tedium of the quests. They all seem to be about the same, and after every quest is the boring chore of running all over the map to collect the special items you need to get more special items that don't really do much of anything for you (except for some support ninjutsu for combat). Story mode is a lot of the same over and over, and I was disappointed that there weren't more cutscenes showing the storyline taking place. If you hadn't watched the anime you'd have no idea what was going on (but then you probably wouldn't be playing this, either). With the animation drawing you in as if you were IN the anime -- cutscenes would have perfected that feeling. Also, unlike when I watched the series, I felt somewhat like I should feel ashamed for playing such a childish game. The anime didn't feel that way but for some reason the game seems very childish. Perhaps that is the western approach for the anime -- I don't know since I haven't seen the American release.
All in all.. not a bad game. For Naruto fans (especially if, like me, you think the series should have ended with the Sasuke/Naruto fight) it is a good addition to your game collection. It could be better, there could be many improvements....more info
- great fun
the game is very enjoying with a "story mode" that should take about 9-12 hours and because it's mainly a fighting game there is excellent replay value...more info
- Next Gen hits home
Wether or not you are a fan of the Manga or Anime of this particular series, you will probably be blown away by the visual presentation of Naruto: Ultimate Nija Storm. I think that this game is not only a great addition to the sparse library of PS3 fighting games, but an example of how to properly recreate a popular IP. Personally, as a fan of fighting games, I think that this is the first to truly create a next-gen feel.
The only real gripe I had with this game was the lack of multiplayer support, ande the bland story mode. There are a few things that could have been done better, such as the inclusion of training modes, and minigames outside of the story mode, but overall, this game shines. If they dont follow this up with an rpg using the same engine, or a downloadable multiplayer (similar to what was done with Tekken: Dark Ressurection) Bandai Namco would be doing their fans a serious disservice.
- Beautiful graphics
- Lightning fast combos
- Easy for beginners to pick up
- Just enough depth for hardcore fighting fans
- NO ONLINE MULTIPLAYER
- Story mode is repetitive
- Lack of game modes/ training
- No character customization
hopes fot the future
- Online versus mode
- downloadable main characters
- Rpg using same combat engine
- Shippuden charaters
- Sexy Jutsu...more info
- Great Game !
I've been a fan of Naruto for years and I can say that this game doesn't disappoint me. The video and sound effects are incredible plus the game's story brings people back to the very beginning of Naruto, so for those who never know anything about Naruto, they will also easily get into the story. I can't wait to play the next version of Naruto's game which I hope should be the beginning of Shippuden series....more info
- nice game
The game is pretty fun I enjoy playing it. You have to do some of the same things over and over that's the only bad part about it in the beginning....more info
- Best Naruto game available
Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm is the best Naruto game for playstation 3. The only bad thing about this game is there is not that many in game cut scenes. The genin arc is all screwed up because the completely skipped over zabuza and haku. They also nearly ruined the sasuke chase arc with the lack of sound ninja. They are only represented as support characeters, forcing you to just fight kimmaro over and over. Besides those nerfs, the game is amazing in graphics, and depth. There are hours worth of missions for you to complete, and more than enough stuff to buy/unlock. This game is by far the best naruto game out there....more info
- As Awesome As the Rasengan!
Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm is the first Naruto game for the PS3. Personally, it has been because of this game that I have become hooked to Naruto and the Naruto Universe. The game features some of the most graphically impressive fights Ive seen for the fighting genre and has renewed my interest in that genre.
Plotwise, Ultimate Ninja Storm goes through about the first 135 episodes of the Naruto universe. It would have been better if it could have gone through the entire Part 1 of Naruto (about 220 episodes) but being that the English dub version of it is finally reaching its end, it would have been impossible.
The single player mode has modes ranging from fetch quests, treasure hunts, specialized fights with requirements (such as win the fight, while not going into awakening mode, and wining with one health bar or more remaining and perform 3 substitution jutsus). There are also other modes such as race up the tree (an aspect of the show which is for chakra control), in this case it is a mode in which you just race up the tree exceptionally fast, you can use powerups that cause fireballs to come down the mountain on your opponents. There is also another mode in which you face a giant boss fight (against a huge toad, Chief Toad from the show), and finally the other mode is that you get to jump from tree to tree in a forest. There are powerups here that allow you to get through the forest faster.
That is all that is to the single player experience. It is a requirement to go through about 60% of this mode. There are many more missions beyond that, but only the hardcore Naruto fan would go through it to get all the unlockables (character costumes, more jutsus, dioramas, music etc).
The fighting is the main aspect of this game. Unfortunately there is not any online multiplayer but there is offline multiplayer. Fights consist of the traditional normal type set ups, except here most of the moves are just mapped to the X or square button for simplicity. A guide of all of the moves is provided on the pause menu for all players, and with practice, virtually every move can be carried out. There is a chakra bar in fights, which is just your meter for performing advanced level moves (such as Naruto's special skill, the Rasengan, a huge burst of chakra at an opponent). It is also needed to be full, in order to do the special skills. The special skills all take you to a different vantage point and screen in which you have to mash the sequence that appears on your side of the screen. The opponent also receives a chance to mash buttons too and whoever can overtake more control of this bar will gain the advantage; if it is the opponent then they will sleazily dodge it with a log ala substitution jutsu style, or if it is the player, they will launch their killer attack, like the 3rd Hokage's forbidden jutsu, Reapers Death Seal. These are perhaps the best and graphically impressive moves and makes it worth it to play as every character. One final aspect of battle, you can also use support players who you can employ to launch an attack and catch you when you are blasted away. Finally fighting can take place on a 3d field, in which you can fight on the normal ground as well as on the walls.
Pretty much the main cast of our favorite genin are available to play with as well as their sensei's, the the legendary sannin are also available to play as. Support characters are also available to play as and are released as DLC.
The entire voice cast of the show has seemed to reprise their roles here with voiced scenes moves. There is limited voice acting in the story mode, but then there are maybe about five FMVs, and these are all fully voiced. Graphically, this game is shocking in how beautiful it is. It is hard to describe the style pseudo 3D, 2.5D cel shading but it works.
There isn't much more to crave for from this game except for a sequel. I implore you, if you are or aren't a Naruto fan, then you must still get this game!
- this game is fun for about one week
I got bored with this game by the fourth day of playing it.
The graphics are great and all, but the game play gets very familiar by the 8th hour you're playing the game.
Nothing new comes as you progres....more info
- Best Naruto Game to Date
I've played the Ultimate Ninja series on PS2, except the 3rd, and I enjoyed them. After I bet the main story, I would constantly play the computer on the highest difficulty. This game continues that excitement for me.
I beat the main story, with still a few side quests to do but my main enjoyment comes from the great visuals and challenging the computer. This game looks as good as, if not better then, the anime. If you are a fan of the Ultimate Ninja series, then you will love this game. A competitive online component would have been nice but the difficulty settings of the comp make up for it. It goes up to insane, but I'm still having fun and getting beaten on hard. This game will definitely last awhile if you're a fan....more info
- Unfinished and yet still great
Being real with all who read this review I haven't finished the game yet. Im about half way through it but the game is really outstanding. The graphics and intense fighting action beats out all other Naruto games thus far. The only real problem i have with the game is long loading times and doing the same missions over and over. Plus there hasn't been many movie scenes in the game (*reminder* I haven't finished yet). This game is great and is a must own for all Naruto fans!...more info
- Must Habe for Naruto Fans
The game overall is FABULOUS!! The graphics are impressive and the controls are simple. There are a few cons though-
-The laoding times are long
-Not much depth in the Leaf Village
-Could have used more characters (Sound Ninja 4)
But Overall the game is impressive and a must have for Naruto fans....more info
- Comparable to DBZ fighting games
I was a big fan of the DBZ fighting titles and anime. After playing the demo for this game I thought they felt very similar. Being a Naruto fan i figured I'de give it a shot. I picked the game up for x-mas and I'm not disappointed. The visuals are excellent and feels like you are watching the anime. The decent amount of playable/support characters makes for an enjoyable experience. As well as the addition of extra support characters via free downloadable content.
Something to note is that the game is rather, "noob friendly", I can't really say it any other way. All of the melee attacks are via one button which is very interesting. Its easy to learn to use but semi-difficult to master using all of your abilities and little tricks. This made for a rather fun experience playing with my friends.
What was kind of disappointing was the rather long and boring single player experience you have to go through to get the characters. There are basically only a few types of game types in the single player; race, chase, fight, and giant fights. All of witch are rather short and require loading times and seem kind of long for the content they load.
Another thing with the single player is that it has the full hidden leave village for you to run around it. Its kind of a double edges sword because its fun to run around but you get sick of it rather quick....more info
- Great fighting sistem
It have great detail animationits just like watching the anime series.
Great battles but the ultimate mission mode sucks its just doing the things over and over again. So i think is for fans only.
And doesnt have online gaming that could have improved the gaming expirience.
So if you want to buy it wait for a price drop.
- Pretty good
The game had a bug which it would repeat a quarter second loop of the victory if I won with an ultimate ninjitsu attack. It was also pretty short, it ended at the battle of Naruto and Sasuke on the river. It's a great fighting game but the story line was meager. Play it just to unlock the characters and special moves, then never play the story line again. ...more info
- the best in the series and better then dbz burst limit.
the game is fantastic and graphically astonishing the game is the very best in anime fighter style games.the game can also be compared to mortal combats next installment due to this game getting better scores and better graphics enhancements. this game thrashes the 360 versions of naruto due to controls, charicters and longevity. ask yourself why would i play naruto on 360 if the controls were terrible and full of fetch quests and sub par action. buy this it is definative for anime and fighter fans alike....more info
- I Didn't like this game
This naruto ultimate ninga storm game could have been alot better. This game lack's in everthing. This has no training mode, which is very important in fighting game's. The storymode is above hard and pointless. The gameplay is easy but not challenging. There's nothing much to do beside's play storymode and play vs mode. Playing the computer in vs mode is kinda boring, and there's not much attack's to go around with either. This game is not really worth much....more info
