  • Can't Tell The Difference
Let me just start out by saying that I was not expecting much from this dishwashing liquid. This is the first Seventh Generation product I have purchased after seeing their products in several stores and always feeling a bit curious. I was using Dawn and was perfectly happy with it, but recently I have been on a "green" binge and decided to try biodegradable laundry detergent and dish soap. I read reviews that said this dish liquid doesn't suds up like Dawn or Palmolive, and that it doesn't cut through the grease and leave the dishes as clean. I have to disagree.

I have always been a person who uses "too much" soap when washing dishes, so I may use more than is necessary, but I found that the dish liquid had just as many bubbles, if not more, than Dawn. I love the scent, it is nice and doesn't smell fake or chemical like some of the regular brands. I compared a glass I washed with Dawn and a glass I washed with Seventh Generation, and they looked the same. I couldn't tell the difference! I even asked my husband to give his opinion about the amount of suds in the sink compared to Dawn, and he said it looked like there were more bubbles than normal. I use gloves, so I can't comment on how soft my hands were after using it. It is much cheaper on Amazon if you subscribe and save, since I paid over four dollars for it at my local health food store. Bottom line is that I like it and I will continue to buy it. ...more info

  • Great for dishes and more
This is a really good dish washing liquid. It also makes a great bubble bath liquid! For someone who hates showers, and doesn't want to soak in chemicals, that's good news. And getting one's dishes and one's self clean while not harming the environment means a lot. Go for it!...more info

  • Good Product
Basic - simple - no perfumes - no fragrance and no adverse reactions for folks like me who are sensitive - Gentle enough to use as hand or body soap, even shampoo in a pinch, but still strong enough for dish washing. Highly recommended....more info
  • great liquid soap
I love this product. Smells nice, cleans dishes, doesn't dry your hands, and doesn't contain nasty chemicals that are harmful to you or environment. The trick here is you have to get the water you are cleaning with full of suds--the suds are what wash away bacteria and food particles on dishes, etc. This soap doesn't lather up as fast as most others on the market so you do use a TAD bit more but it cleans all my dishes really well and I don't have to worry about harmful things like antibacterial ingredients such as triclosan that are everywhere and I know that what is going down my drain is biodegradable. Yay....more info
  • Great product but keep cap closed!
My wife and I have used Seventh Generation dish liquid soap for a little over a year now and we love it. It works great on dishes, smells wonderful, and it's eco-friendly. Additionally, I have also found this soap to be mild on my sensitive skin, and I do not experience red/dry hands after cleaning pots and pans. How can you go wrong?

However, I would like to supply a nugget of information for any potential buyer. I'm not sure why (maybe because of the plant-based ingredients), but if you leave the cap open for periods of time, the soap seems to turn sour...very sour. It will literally smell like something you need to throw out with the trash. Because of this I do not buy this item in bulk. I simply do not use that much at a time to justify having several bottles at one time. I choose to buy one bottle at a time and ensure the cap is properly sealed after each use--no problems since....more info
  • Works great, but doesn't smell like lavender!
This is great, natural dish soap. It suds up beautifully and gets my dishes squeaky clean. I switched to this dish soap from the lavender-scented Palmolive, which was colored a bright purple. The Seventh Generation isn't artificially colored, and I like that, because are artificial colors really necessary in a dish soap? My only complaint about this soap is that it doesn't really smell like lavender.. it has almost a lemon-y smell to it. I intend to keep buying it, though, because it works great at a pretty good price....more info
  • WARNING: more watery than the average dishsoap...don't over-squeeze
I have recently started using the Seventh Generation dishsoap after a long and exclusive relationship with Mrs. Meyer's dish soap.

The main thing to remember about Seventh Generation is that the consistancy of this soap is like water. It's very easy to over-squeeze. A little does go a long way. There are suds. The fragrance (at least of the lavender based scent) is very minimal. There is also a free and clear version that has no scent at all.

This product does a great job cleaning my dishes. Glasses shine. No streaks when I leave the dishes to dry in the drainer. My pots don't require a great deal of extra scurbbing. There is no aftertaste left on anything (a problem I occasionally had with another brand). It is gentle on my hands. I couldn't ask for much more.

I do have to say that the scent is minimal. I am not a fan of lavender. Actually, I hate the smell of lavender but have had no issues with the smell of the Seventh Generation lavender based scented dishsoap.

The price point is also very good in comparison to other green products. Love that fact as well.

Overall excellent product that I highly recommend. ...more info
  • Good Bubbles...
This dish liquid keeps its bubbles and its cleaning ability even after the water gets cold. You don't have to use much and it smells great! ...more info
