Great Book to Indentify & Deal With Anger This is a great book to help children identify the physical signs of anger and to sort out the emotion they are feeling. It also teaches strategies to "tame your temper". I made a "cheat sheet" for my son to use when he gets angry with anger strategies. My 7 year son with autism uses strategies suggested in this book. ...more info
Buy this book for your pre-teen! My 9 and 12 year old sons love this book! We have been able to talk about those angery moments in a fun and useful way. The funny pictures just add to the easy-going approch to a serious topic....more info
Great book for little kids with anger issues! I have been using this book to help my two sons, ages 8 & 11, understand and control thier tempers. I have read several of these types of books to them and I feel that this one has been the most effective. The book is written with an appealing age appropriate sense of humor and the illustrations are fun for them to look at. This book contains all of the important themes about anger but is presented in a way that appeals to kids. I highly recommend this book to parents of kindergarten through seventh grade kids that have anger issues. Thanks for a great book! ...more info
Good practical book I bought this book because I'm getting ready to teach 5th graders, but I have a 5 year old at home and began reading it to him when I received it. He loves for me to read it aloud to him. It is a really practical book for children. It gives them lots of real life situations to evaluate. ...more info

How the Take the Grrr Out of Anger Excellent book. My child is 9 years old and not only finds this book entertaining enough to go back to for help when she's feeling upset and angry, but has ear marked and highlighted several places she finds particularly helpful to her. It has short and to the point advise and humorous illustrations that a child can both relate to and understand; and through example, shows them where they are on controlling their own responses and gives them plenty of ideas on how to improve them. I definitely recommend this book to anyone dealing with a child who is struggling with identifying and controlling their emotions. ...more info
Good for working with individuals Good for working with individual children (as a parent or therapist) but not so great for groups of young children. The ideas and concepts can be used to design other activities for groups, but a group of angry young students will not sit still to read this through with them. ...more info

Somehow it sinks in. My son was suspended from his school, 3 times in 2 weeks. (He's only in first grade)They were one day suspensions, but regardless, he was suspended for anger behavior issues. And as a parent it kills you inside to think that your child could be so bad. I sat him on my lap at my computer and we researched it together. We picked out these books together and strange as it may seem, soon after his behavior started to change, it was like he was someone elses child...lol. The lessons we went through were amazing as far as learning together what he should do and as a parent how to approch situations. For example, my son flew off the handle when someone would smirk at him or laugh at him. Make fun of
his behavior. IN the book it gives a situation, what if you were walking down the hall and a kid bumped into you knocking your books to the floor, what would you do. My son said I would scream at him to "watch out man or next time you'll get it!" IN the book it tells you it was a handicapped person in a wheel chair that bumped into the student, before
hand. So that you can set up the question correctly. I asked my son what if it was Dennis? (A Kid in his school who is in a wheel chair), He said then I would not have screamed at him. And we both learned as the book teaches, you can control your anger, YOU decide if you want to be mad, no one else, can make you mad. You choose to be mad or not. He is my first born of 2, I don't have all the answers, I learn as I go, but I know I love him enough to try anything. And my son is amzingly different now. Thanks to these books. Thank you, "Getting the GRRR out of Anger", We have learned alot as a family. ...more info
It's a cute book . . . This is a very cute book, but to find the time and place to sit down with an angry kid hasn't come about just yet, it's one of those that I'll have to read and then take the ideas to the kids.
Definitely a book I'd suggest though . . . I just haven't gotten a chance to use it the way I'd like yet!...more info
Great Anger Handbook Wonderful explanations of what anger is, how to recognize the feelings, how to express the feeling in a healthier way and how to problem solve. My daughter loved the examples of dialogue as they were accurate samples of what she deals with on a daily basis with her peers at school. I appreciated the fact that we could pick it up and read any chapter without reading the entire book. My daughter has also benefited by reading a book called Angry Octopus: A Relaxation Story. She feels empowered by both of these books and is now implementing taking a deep breath to calm her anger just as the octopus does in Angry Octopus. It is a winning combination....more info

self help for children The text and illustrations make this self-help book appealing for children. They can read it independently but parents and teachers should read it also. It gives concrete steps for handling anger, seeking help when adults are angry, etc. The introduction starts with a discussion of why you need this book. This book increases understanding and options. It also has a message for adults, resources for kids and adults, and an index for easy reference. Grrrr I bought this book for my six year old grandson who used the "grrr" sound when becoming angry. Both he and his eight year old brother love the book. There are some helpful insights in the book to help them learn to control their anger. I recommend the book to any parent or grandparent who needs written material to help a child address the problem of anger....more info
Take the Grrrrr Out of Anger This book was bought for my 10 year old girl who was developing some anger issues. Even though we have talked about it, she was in denial. One day, she became very angry and it escalated. For her one of her punishments, I required her to read 3 chapters (since the chapters are short) everyday and then we would discuss it. She was very reluctant. However, after reading the first couple of chapters, she came to me and told me she learned alot. She even talked about, which she would never do before. This was a very very helpful book. ...more info
