• DO NOT BUY if you are a Macintosh user!
  I ordered this camera because I needed something small and easy for a weekend trip and to shoot grandkid movies. It worked fine until I tried to download the movies to my Macintosh. Then I discovered that you cannot use this camera with Macintosh computers! So I have a camera full of movies, a $600 dent in my credit card (with accessories) and cannot even see the results. There is nothing in the Amazon description that says it is not compatible with the Mac system. There is a box on page 27 of the instruction book that talks about using a Mac, but once you get the information online from Sony you learn you can only transfer still pictures to Macs, not movies. You can probably pick mine up cheap on eBay or Craigs List as it is of no use to me at all, and because the packaging went out in the trash before the trip I cannot return it. I will NEVER buy another Sony product, ever....more info
• Good price, good quality, sound
  I just got this camera yesterday at best buy. It was on sale online but not in the store. they matched the price online and I got it for 539.99
  Then they marked it down to 519.99 because It was a open box. So I got lucky. I originally bought the sony handycam for 299.99 but realized I should have got the HD version. If you have HD computers and Tvs whats the point of watching home movied in anything but hd? the other footage from the original was grainy. since getting the HD the videos look great! Very happy. Beautiful camera and lightweight. for best video take in bright light. you can really see each hair on a persons head. The only problem I have is when I watch the videos on my computer it lags? I dont know why. It looks like still shots kinda like frame by frame?
  If anyone can help me figure that out how to watch the videos without a delay I would be so happy

• Great quality camera for the price!
  This camera is amazing. Once I charged up this puppy and fired it up it looked awesome. I filmed my dog and you could see every strand of hair on his body and the texture of the hair. It also has the smiling sensor technology that is really neat. Put it in video mode and when someone smiles SNAP!....a photo is automatically taken (you can set it on or off). I like that its flash memory as well (hard drives dont survive drops so well). I gotta say Sony put out one sexy stylish camcorder. It looks great in the hand and it definitely got some peoples attention. Once you get this camcorder you'll never want to go back to SD recording. Here are my PROs and CONs:

• Works GREAT with Macintosh!!!
  I have a MACINTOSH LAPTOP with both imovieHD and imovie09. AS SOON AS THE CAMERA is connected imovie launches and a screen appears with ALL your movies shown (1st frame of movie is shown so you know which is which). You click a box to select the movies you want imported and the computer does the REST!
  
  PHOTOS are imported the same way: iphoto immediately launches when USB cable (supplied with camera) is connected between camera and MACINTOSH. You click all the pics you want imported and the computer does the rest!!

• great image, but.....
  I got this camera in april, and set out to take video and pictures right away to test quality. It is great, but you will only be able to see the full glory in your HD tv. If you try to copy to a disc, you will have to lower to SD (standard definition) until they come up with a copier for full HD. Until then I better keep the cards to view on tv. I have a dvd recorder I use to copy and edit videos I take on trips, (my old Sony tapes camera) and noticed that if I use HQ, comes pretty close to what I get from this camera. I must say that this camera is so easy to use and light. So, do not empty the cards, better carry a few ones, now that they are getting cheaper. I will wait for Blue Ray dvd recorder....more info
• Perfect 1080p but no light on the camera.
  Its 99% perfect, but I would like a light. Price match amazon at bestbuy and save a hundred bucks. Great camera, No regrets....more info
• Smaller than I thought, packs a big punch
  Well this is a really nice little camera with really great video quality. Though the features are stripped down the processors are not. It is great for anyone who wants just straight out of the box performance and not a lot of confusing settings to deal with. It records in 4 HD modes giving you more or less time on the 8gb internal memory, additional memory sticks are essential as is another battery and possibly a wide angle lens (30mm inner threads). As always Sony puts out another gorgeous looking product that is both ergonomic and sexy. All controls are well within reach although the lens cover is a bit clunky in function and takes two hands to open. If you are wanting an HD camcorder that isn't too complicated to operate and is a budget price then this is the one for you!...more info

  I love this camcorder. I had a Panasonic that I ended up returning because the software wasn't compatible with Vista. This Sony camcorder is small, light and I love the touch screen (even work with my nails haha). It's easy to use and creates great quality videos....more info
