Product Description

Within the pages of this transformational book, Dr. Wayne W. Dyer reveals how to change the self-defeating thinking patterns that have prevented you from living at the highest levels of success, happiness, and health. Even though you may know what to think, actually changing those thinking habits that have been with you since childhood might be somewhat challenging.

If I changed, it would create family dramas . . . I’m too old or too young . . . I’m far too busy and tired . . . I can’t afford the things I truly want . . . It would be very difficult for me to do things differently . . . and I’ve always been this way . . . may all seem to be true, but they’re in fact just excuses. So the business of modifying habituated thinking patterns really comes down to tossing out the same tired old excuses and examining your beliefs in a new and truthful light.

In this groundbreaking work, Wayne presents a compendium of conscious and subconscious crutches employed by virtually everyone, along with ways to cast them aside once and for all. You’ll learn to apply specific questions to any excuse, and then proceed through the steps of a new paradigm. The old, habituated ways of thinking will melt away as you experience the absurdity of hanging on to them.

You’ll ultimately realize that there are no excuses worth defending, ever, even if they’ve always been part of your lifea??and the joy of releasing them will resonate throughout your very being. When you eliminate the need to explain your shortcomings or failures, you’ll awaken to the life of your dreams.

Excuses . . . Begone!

  • Good content, research and marketing...but
Recently, I've been reading a lot I guess. So on one hand I've gathered a lot of information on the other hand I'm starting to stop paying attention to fancy language. This book provided good content in terms of research, observation, logical arguments and finally inspiration. But frankly I wish these popular people could say things in simpler and more importantly fewer words. I'd suggest myLife framework by Sunil Sheoran, myLife Framework: A Model for a Successful Life based on the Yoga Principles. This book by relatively unknown guy has many times less words and in just a very few words suggests the "core" of why habits are hard to change and provide a simple 4 step approach from Yoga/ Geeta to take charge of life by changing habits. I'd say check that out as well....more info
  • No Excuse
I've always been a fan of Wayne Dyer's work but am especially excited by this new book. In a delightful style, he proposes that we can erroneously believe the unexamined lies and "excuses" that our brains tell us, as the truth. By examining these excuses one can allow them to disappear and then be free to live a full , happy and successful life.

If you like Dyer's books you are sure to be inspired by the works of Ariel and Shya Kane: How to Create a Magical Relationship: The 3 Simple Ideas that Will Instantaneously Transform Your Love Life, Working on Yourself Doesn't Work: The 3 Simple Ideas That Will Instantaneously Transform Your Life and Being Here: Modern Day Tales of Enlightenment
By simply noticing my knee-jerk habits, without judging myself, life long struggles dissolve. Life becomes an effortless experience of well-being and fascination. Dyer and The Kane's are amazing guides to having a brilliant life. Enjoy!...more info
  • As much as I'd like to read this......
I am watching this guy on TV right now and he caught my attention by saying how stereotypes and myths we were taught as children become facts to us as we age... and what he is saying is totally true. How else can we explain the widespread discrimination of specific groups and illogical reasoning that keeps us from doing the things we want? But as I listen to him, he starts talking about God. WHAT??? ...a complete contradiction about what he's teaching. God... religion is in itself a meme... never proven... it's an ancient attempt to try to explain what we didn't understand in the past before we dove into the studies of science. And yet, he is talking about God as if God truly exists... a meme everyone was taught as kids that we grew up to believe as fact.

I just cannot buy this book if he is not thinking his theories completely through....more info

  • This is not the book, it is audio of a lecture!!!
This is not the audiobook which is 8 cd's, this is a recording of a lecture by Wayne Dyer about the topic of Excuses Begone, it is 7 cd's plus a bonus cd of Ramm Dass. If you zoom in on the cover it says "7 CD set Lecture". The actual audio book which is a different product says "Unabridged audiobook 8 cd set" on the cover...more info

  • New Age Platitudes...Begone!
I've been a fan of Wayne Dyer for decades but this book is just a rehash of worn out self-help platitudes. And along the way Dr. Dyer seems to have embraced every New Age movement that's come along...including "The Secret," "Course in Miracles," every author at Hay House, and (shudder) Byron Katie. Next thing you know he'll be including a Joe Vitale bonus with his CD Seminars! As another reviewer mentioned I was also turned off by Dyer's use of the word "God" during the television special on PBS. He used the word "God" and then quickly gave 2 or 3 qualifiers ("or your Source or..."). Just whatever you decide it is but get that meme-word "GOD" in there! (Gives some kind of pseudo-substance I guess)

I've always appreciated Wayne Dyer's sense of humor and have always loved him most when he used hard psychology (as in "Your Erroneous Zones") and quoting philosophers and scientists. You don't get much of that here. The title of this new book was promising but ends up just being a vehicle for dragging the now bankrupt "New" Age just a few more steps into the future. ...more info
