With more than 100,000 copies sold of his self-published book, The Biology of Belief, Bruce Lipton teams up with Hay House to bring his message to an even wider audience. This book is a groundbreaking work in the field of new biology, and it will forever change how you think about thinking. Through the research of Dr. Lipton and other leading-edge scientists, stunning new discoveries have been made about the interaction between your mind and body and the processes by which cells receive information. It shows that genes and DNA do not control our biology, that instead DNA is controlled by signals from outside the cell, including the energetic messages emanating from our thoughts. Using simple language, illustrations, humor, and everyday examples, he demonstrates how the new science of Epigenetics is revolutionizing our understanding of the link between mind and matter and the profound effects it has on our personal lives and the collective life of our species.
- Laborsome to Read
This book does not tell us how to harness the Power of Belief. It is full of technical, boring and laborsome reading. Poor choice....more info
- Wow. There are some really LONG reviews on this book!
Wow. Some of these reviews are like reading another book! Yawn. All I would care to add is that the audiobook is read by Dr. Bruce. He truly has a lively personality. It feels like he is there with you having a friendly chat over tea. Most of my audiobooks I give away, BUT this will stay with me as one of my all time "keepers". Dr. Bruce held my attention completely. Wonderful ending too. ...more info
- One of the Most important books in history
Having seen Dr Lipton in action a few times, I still cannot forget how he revolutionized my life in that first lecture when I was so transformed I could hardly get out of my seat. He literally turned my medical school teaching around on its head, but the stupid thing is, I could have seen that if my eyes were open. Dr Lipton is the visionary who did. This book charts his personal and professional journey in this revolution in cellular biology. What I was not prepared for was just what a good honest read this is - Lipton is raw and open in his narrative as well as being accessible in his scientific explanations.
This takes its place up there with The Double Helix as one of the most significant scientific books of all time. ...more info
Before I read "The Biology of Belief" I found myself going through tremendous life changes as a mother and ex-wife re-entering the work force as a counselor and healer. As I was contemplating what I was going through, and the obstacles that I needed to overcome, my mind kept going back to the story of David Helfgott, a prodigy pianist who went insane because his upbringing was filled with fear that did not support him pursuing his art. I also thought about Tiger Woods, whose life was a perfect constellation of success. And then, as synchronicity would have it, Dr. Lipton wrote about both of these people in his book! What are the odds for that? It gave me great hope that I could overcome my 'foster child' upbringing and pursue my work successfully with the understanding that even with intense negative programming, our cells do respond to our higher thoughts, support us in our endeavors, and even though life can start out with many strikes against us, we can persevere. My life, heart and work are testimony to that and Dr. Lipton's book has been a great healing force for me, along with the works of many others including Lynn McTaggertThe Intention Experiment: Using Your Thoughts to Change Your Life and the Worldand Gregg Braden The Divine Matrix: Bridging Time, Space, Miracles, and Belief Enjoy it all!...more info
This is what I have been looking for for a very long time.
- A very worthwhile read. A book for its time.
This is a book that I will leave out on my coffee table for easy picking-up, rather than tucking it away in the bookcase. It is heartening to see a book written by a scientist that explains realistically how your thoughts can and do effect the physical body, with a good amount of humor thrown in. Yes, not being a scientist myself, I did have a little trouble understanding some of it, but it was well worth skimming over those parts to get to the golden nuggets. I recommend this book to anyone who is looking for wcientific proof that thoughts can change even the tiniest cells of your body. A most fascinating read. ...more info
- THE BIOLOGY OF BELIEF
I was attracted to this book by the title. However, I find the book too technical too really understand the message the author is intending. For me, a lot of the words I do not know how to pronounce and do not know what they mean and this prevents me from understanding the message of the book. Anyone with a background similar to the author will no doubt totally enjoy the book.
- sub-title misleading--offers NO tips for unleahshing anything.
Although interesting, even fascinating at moments, a non-scientist reader has to read through chapter after chapter of too much, too detailed scientific jargon, anxiously waiting to get to "the point"...and how this applies to changing lives. Around Chapter 4 Mr Lipton eludes to the fact that he is going to get to it, but frustrating to the reader, never does!
So much potential to truly change lives, but comes up disappointing. Not worth the price. ...more info
- Let's not forget the larger picture
I love this guy. Some of the reviews further down come accross like primary school book reports. Lets not loose sight of the larger picture. What Bruce is shedding light on is a misunderstanding that costs trillions of dollars and millions of lives every year. It truly is one of the largest paradigm shifts in human history. When people come to fully understand this, disease and disharmony will be a think of the past, where they belong.
I LOVE YOU BRUCE! :o)...more info

- Opening New Doors
Bruce Lipton delivers a new paradigm for comprehending heredity
and evolution. What is so promising for me is that it supports
common sense for once. The author is scientifically consistent
throughout the book. One gets a strong feeling of certainty about
his facts and his analysis. Our experience not only can affect our
health and our survival, but also our genetics. So genetic changes
are not relegated exclusively to the moment of conception. The way
we respond to life circumstances can also affect the functioning of
our genes. This book opens many new doors....more info
- very informative
This book on CD has a tremendous amount of interesting info but it took a while to listen to it. There's so much info I had to stop once in a while to absorb what I'd just heard. - Cutting Edge
The Biology of Belief: Unleashing the Power of Consciousness, Matter, & Miracles by Bruce H. Lipton Ph.D is a book intended to change the way you think about thinking. According to the author there are new discoveries about the way your mind and body interact and also about the way cells receive information. The author claims the new science of Epigenetics is revolutionizing our understanding of the link between mind and matter that will bridge and connect the differences between science and spirit.
After you read this book it may be a good time to consider reading my book entitled "The Enlightenment, What God Told Me After One Million Prayers, a Message for Everyone" (See Profile Above)
- A Crack In Quackdom - LISTEN UP !
I'd given up on the dead, sick, sad, and sorry "Hard Sciences" and the animated fossils ( scientists ) who lurk within them long ago, but now I find that a breakthrough so astounding and remarkable has taken place within one hard science that it COULD have the impact of a wrecking ball on the whole rotten structure of anti-life, Aristotlean-Absolutism that has been destroying the planet and everyone/everything on it for centuries now! I'm enthused! I'm positive about potential and possibilities on this planet! I'm genuinely happy about life. YOU CAN BE TOO!
If you care about this planet and ALL the living beings inhabiting it, you MUST read this book AND VIEW ALL OF Dr. Lipton's DVD presentations AT ONCE. The faster this information gets out, the faster human beings can turn the Earth's destruction around, re-adjust "modern medicine" to a complete health-providing condtion rather than symptom chasing, money-making entity, and FIX everything - the poisoning of soil, water, air, ourselves, and all other life forms.
READ THIS BOOK - IMMEDIATELY! Then get all of Dr. Lipton's DVD presentations. Alert your family members, friends, "doctors", local therapists ( yes, they need to know this ! ) and even government officials. DO YOUR PART IN GETTING THIS OUT INTO THE WORLD WHERE YOU ARE, DON'T SIT BACK AND WAIT FOR LIPTON AND/OR ANYONE ELSE TO DO ALL THE WORK THEMSELVES !
YOU can't afford to sit around and do nothing about this information. The faster the prevailing views of "hard science" re-adjust to this model, the faster YOU will personally benefit from it in ways you can't even imagine as you read this review; as will society, nations, continents, the planet, and all life forms on the planet.
Do you think I might be going a little overboard with these statements? READ THIS BOOK AND YOU'LL SEE THAT I'M NOT! Also go to brucelipton. com and pick up:
"As Above - So Below, An Introduction to Fractal Evolution"
"The New Biology, Where Mind & Matter Meet"
"The Biology of Perception - The Psychology of Change, Piecing it all together"
And then go to psych-k. com and look in at things there......AND ONCE YOU VIEW ALL THIS MIRACULOUS INFORMATION, GET TO WORK MAKING OTHERS AWARE OF IT!
DO SOMETHING WORTHWHILE FOR ONCE IN YOUR LIFE.
- The Biology of Belief
While well intended, this book was recommended to me by my alternative medicine Doctor. He overestimated my intelectual capacity! It is much too deep for my though processes. I can, however, see how some very deep thinkers could find this book deeply stimulating and challenging to the status quo thinking of the medical world was well as other sciences.
My warning, don't buy unless you are a deep thinker who enjoys esoteric writings....more info
- The connection between mind and body

- Interesting, but not "Life-Changing"
The bit about changing your own subconscious negative behaviors into good ones is a sham. This book does NOT tell you how to do it. It hints that it will, but at the end the advice is to attend a PSYCH-K seminar...which costs about [...] bucks.

I could make this complicated or lengthy, I choose to make it simple. You want a solution to your day to day symptoms? Read this book. You want a solution to the national healthcare spending nightmare? Read this book. More importantly, LIVE this book....more info
- A little disappointing
I made my way throught the whole book waiting for the chapter that would tell me how to put all this into practice....it never came. Instead what I got was a page that has his 3 CDs for sale and a website for Psych-K that offered to tell me how to do it if I spent a lot of money. Seems to me if Mr. Lipton was truly concerned about the future of humanity, this information would be given freely with an open heart. That in itself makes me suspicious of his motives. But then again, I'm sure I already know his motive: $$$.
Also, this book could have been less than 100 pages long and still gotten across all of the relevant science he presents....more info
- This book is not what it says it is
I have always had an enormous interest in Genetics and was thrilled when I had the opprotunity to read this book. At the beginning of the book Dr. Lipton delves into academic research and then tries to challenge biology by saying "genes and DNA do not control our biology; that instead DNA is controlled by signals from outside the cell". Which I failed to fully understand as that concept was the basis for Darwin's Orgin of the Species. It's well known that biological lifeforms adapt to their evironment and the concept is not revolutionary.
Sadly, Dr. Lipton's jump into New Age healing concepts prevented me from confirming that 'signals from outside a cell controls it's biology' was the basis for the book. This book was a complete disappointment but may be appriciated by those have an interest in the New Age Ideals....more info
- A Great Book! Should be Required Reading for all Humans...
Bruce Lipton has given each of us something to think about with this book. The pathway between thought and thing, or between our thoughts and the physiological changes in our bodies, ties together ancient wisdom, "As a man thinketh, so it is done to him..." and modern medicine -- The Stress Response, The Placebo Response, Psycho-Somatic Illness, The Mind-Body Connection, and other concepts that, if understood, can give the reader a surprising degree of control over their own health and life experience. This book isn't a book you should read because you heard it was "a good book;" you should read this book because each of us needs to think about the possibilities that arise when you approach life with this understanding. If this book were required reading for middle-school students, America's health (and happiness) would improve dramatically. This book will change the way you approach your life -- and the way you think about life. Thanks for writing this, Bruce!...more info
- "Modern" Medicine
Bruce Lipton does an excellent job of explaining the biology of our cells and what that means. As a teacher of biology for doctors today, he is wise and presents that "modern" Medicine is archaic in some ways. My opinion is that when God informs, then Man and in this case doctors, have to "approve" what happens directly from God, there is a disconnect someplace. I particularly liked the part where Modern Medicine shuns the Energy Medicine approach to healing because they do not understand it, but use the same energy patterns to provide MRIs and Echocardiagrams, etc, in diagonsis. It doesn't seem to fit. I am thankful for men of science speaking out in truth about the changes we are beginning to understand, but sometimes slow to implement because of that lack of understanding. Regardless, energy healing works - even if doctors don't understand....more info
- A New Paradigm
This is the new paradigm for medical science. It is grounded in research. It may take 20 years to mold current medical practice into this way of thinking, but it will happen.
The book is written so anyone can understand it. Some of the science that is showcased will change or be altered with time, but this is the first time I have seen the whole of science put together in a cogent whole.
I have given it to several of my physician colleagues as gifts....more info
- Valuable read
I think the implications of Lipton's book are very deep indeed. His scientific background make this book more credible than it would otherwise have been. I strongly recommend the book to anyone with an interest in such matters - either biology or belief systems.
The only weakness is that Lipton builds a very strong case for a new way of considering the body and how it works, but then he leaps with much less rigour into the implications on belief.
Notwithstanding this, Lipton's biological perspective provides enormous "evidence" for a different book 'Fountainhead: Principles of the Soul" that speaks convincingly on a radically different belief system. The two are wonderfully complementary....more info

- Changing old beliefs
The Biology of Belief reinforced my belief that drugs do nothing but cause problems for the body. Bruce Lipton shows exactly what drugs do to the body which for myself was a vindication of what I believed for the last 20 years. It also gives great hope for the power of belief in providing a means to listen to the body and act on what you feel when the body speaks. It was very eye opening to find that beliefs are formed in new life before it comes into the world by the environment which it is exposed to. The Biology of Belief shows a new direction that the medical profession can at last provide guidance to their patients instead of the old paradigm of surgery and drugs. Thank you Bruce Lipton....more info
- Med Student, Loves Bruce!
Dr. Lipton is truely brilliant.
I'm a medical student. I'm also a shamanic healer, who works with energy work and herbal and thought therapy with her clients. This ties the two together perfectly, explaining how my two worlds, who for some reason oppose eachother greatly, actually blend so beautifully.
I think every med student, every biology student, and every PERSON should read this book, read it with an open mind, read it and try it, don't naysay.
There was once a time where the world thought that the world was flat. Where people who said it wasn't where laughed at, ridiculed. There was a time when doctors drilled holes in schizophrenics heads to let the demons out, and cut their feet open to let the evil out when they had the flu, and that was not questioned at all. The world has a history of constantly believing that we know everything. We know what it all means, and we are CERTAIN! but almost without fail, with study, and people working against that majority, as they are ridiculed, the majority is proven wrong.
I'm saying read it knowing that we dont know everything. Read it and understand.
Esspecially if you have a background in biology, this will prove a tremendous help and explain a lot of things that may have confused you in the past, if your anything like me, someone who questions everything they learn constantly ;)
enjoy, its really a great read....more info
- The Biology of Belief
1. The science about 'belief' was explained in an easy-to-understand style. I greatly appreciated the information and knowledge that I gained from this book. I bought this book because I wanted to understand how my beliefs affect my body and my life in this world.
2. The story was told in a way that kept me wanting to read the next page, much like a good mystery story; in other words, Dr. Lipton kept the interest level high throughout his book.
3. The book was very, very positive and encouraging.
4. Alas, I was disappointed that the PSYCH-K change techniques talked about in the Addendum were not described in this book; perhaps in a future book???
Thank you Dr. Lipton!...more info

- Biology of Belief
As a retired hospice chaplain, I was particularly struck by Dr. Lipton's comments at pp. 145-147 where he discusses how it is that cells are either in a growth or a protection mode, and that a person's stomach lining is normally replaced every 72 hours. From my experience of having worked with approximately 1000 terminally ill patients, Lipton's account helps to explain much of the behavior of those who are dying as they reject nourishment of any kind.
If the body is in a mode of shutting down, then the process of stomach lining regeneration is in a mode of flight-flight from food which is now deemed as a threat. Lipton's analysis is the best way I know to help explain the process to those who insist on forcing the dying to eat.
The "Biology of Belief" is a very good read....more info
- The Magic of Believing!
Bruce H. Lipton's book The Biology of Belief was written for the lay person. He took a complicated subject matter, added wit and a unique writing style to make this book an easy read.
A cellular biologist, the author had an epiphany. He changed his belief in genetic predisposition to an understanding that it is our beliefs that control our bodies, minds and life. The books answers some intriguing questions like: Why is it that placebo's have the same effect as medicines? In another book a doctor who worked in African villages stated that his own epiphany was that the main difference between a Western trained medical doctor and the local witch doctor is a medical degree and the way they dress. Like that book, Lipton's explanation is that belief sets the bodies healing process in motion.
The author explains New Biology, Smart Cells, Cellular "Mem-Brains," quantum physic discoveries, subconscious programming, growth versus fear, how parent's beliefs preprogram their children and much more.
I recommend this book people who want to discover the magic of believing and the new developments in cellular biology that dispel previous scientific notions widely believed to be well-founded facts.
- Interesting and more..
I just finished this book and it is interesting on so many levels. I do agree with Dr.Lipton's ideas and I think anyone can apply them to people they know well to see he is right about "belief" affecting outcomes of people's lives. I have always studied people and their situations either good or bad and this book helped put one more piece to the puzzle of what makes for a successful or not successful life. I think the chapters for parents or parents-to-be were extremely interesting and valuable. I only have one dispute there born out of personal experience. I was for my lst (unplanned) pregnancy (which my husband of 10 yrs did not want) overworked, stressed and had 1 job and also owned a company so I worked 7 days a week and was divorced after the baby was born. So,according to Dr. Lipton that child could have come into the world with all of those negative messages and not have been a happy camper after being influenced by all of that choas. But that did not happen at all--quite the opposite. He was and is an amazing person--and it surprised me that everywhere he goes people love him! The 2nd child born 10 yrs later (I was newly remarried) was the star of our world and our friends and families world as well. I felt like a celebrity mom. And child #1 was so fabulous--I really looked forward to #2. According to Dr. Lipton supposedly #2 would have benefited by such good climate all round. While carrying child #2, I was never happier in my life or in my work. It was the happiest time of my life. But that 2nd child was born with medical problems, learning problems, speech problems, Add,LD,and his life for a long time was very unhappy. The lst child had one of those lives people envy and he was loved by all and still is today.I thought I was the greatest parent alive! Unfortunately, #2 had the opposite life and was not liked by many adults or his peers. It was a tough road to bear for this kid for many yrs and hard for us as his parents. So, while I agree with 99% of Dr. Lipton's book--I cannot agree with the chapter on fetus development outcome linked with their parent's attitude, etc. during pregnancy. I do agree that babies are very aware in the womb but I had two distinct opposite experiences that dispute his proposed outcome for those children. Both of my children's outcome--developed the opposite of their in utero climate.
