When cold and flu season strikes, it's time to take this warm mist humidifier out of the closet. The humidifier provides healthful vapor that can help relieve the dehydrating symptoms brought on by colds and the flu, helping nasal passages breathe easily again and easing the irritation of coughs and sore throats. It offers a wonderful alternative therapy for children, those who prefer not to take over-the-counter medications, and those who can't take decongestants due to pregnancy or incompatibility with other medications. This low-noise humidifier also takes preventative measures against colds by putting enough humidity in the air to combat the dryness caused by many heating systems. The humidity moistens the respiratory system and helps it to actually fight off viruses, bacteria, and pollutants.

The translucent water tank is easy to fill and monitor and outputs about one gallon of moist air into the room--enough for 12 hours of continuous use on one filling. Dry air flows into the cooling chamber and combines with bacteria-free steam vapor from the boiling chamber. The warm, moist air is then released into the room without emitting any white dust. When the tank is empty, it totally drains without leaving any potentially bacteria-laden standing water in the bottom. Two settings--high and low--let you adjust the humidity level to the appropriate room size or moisture level. In addition, flu or cold sufferers can place Kaz Inhalent or Vicks VapoSteam in the included medication cup to further soothe symptoms. This humidifier has a dishwasher-safe cooling chamber and medication cup for hygienic cleaning and is covered by a three-year warranty. --Cristina Vaamonde

  • I Want the Vicks smell!!!
Recently my 2 mo old was sick with a cold and was really congested, I was looking for something to scent the air with vicks so I didn't have to smear it on her chest continually through the night. Well as a humidifier this product maybe okay but as far as releasing that soothing vicks smell that I was hoping for it totally failed; I was extremly dissapointed and could not believe how little aroma this device puts out. I wasn't really interested in the humidifier, but this is all they had so in reality I can't rate this as a humidifier, but I am so upset I just want to create some healing air!!...more info
As with other products by KAZ, Inc.--no, it's not really made by Vicks--it is junk. Works about a month, then dies....more info
  • Wonderful for dry homes! 3.5 stars
    3.5 stars

I bought this humidifier because the air in my home was so dry I was getting nosebleeds. Within a few days I felt so much better (even skin and lips aren't as dry/chapped).

    - Has a high setting and a low setting
    - Quiet compared to other humidifiers
    - Automatically shuts off when the tank is empty, and a "Reset" light appears to let you know to fill it.
    - Is relatively small/compact. I move it from room to room, and it's not too heavy even when full.

    - Requires cleaning more than once a week, I wash the tank every other day just to be on the safe side.
    - Minerals do build up in the "heating chamber" and the inside of the large part of the "removable tray" rather quickly, I would suggest using distilled or purified water. Or just make sure you clean it regularly (one or 2 times a week for the Removable tray and heating chamber), I use a soft-bristled toothbrush to remove mineral build-up.
    - "Medicine Cup" is on the small side. I don't use this feature, but others might find it inadequate.

***I don't mind cleaning, it only takes about 10 minutes when you clean all of the parts, even when I had to scrub off the mineral buildup....more info
  • This really works!
We tried a cool mist type, but not only did it chill the room but it didn't do anything for our son's cold. We finally bought this on my friend's recommendation (a mom of four) and it really works! The room was nice and warm and humid and helped to ease his congestion immediately. The low noise it makes is nice in the background and a full tank on high lasts all night. Just make sure to keep it up and out of the way when the baby gets mobile....more info
  • Pretty good so far!
Bought it at Target for about $32 and used it for the first time last night. I have a bad cold as we speak and for the first time, I did not wake up with a sore, dry throat. We used it on low speed throughout the night and the definitely lasts for over 12 hours. Unexpectedly quiet, too, even on high speed, compared with old-school humidifiers. I haven't cleaned it yet, but so far, I'm pretty impressed....more info
  • Worked OK, but hard to clean
Ours worked for about 3 years before it gave up. It leaked some, but not as much as some others experienced. Our biggest problem was cleaning. We tried additives, but nothing helped against mineral buildup. Eventually I think this what destroyed the heating element. It took a little while at first to figure out how to get to the element to clean it. Not a bad little humidifier, but there are much better on the market now....more info
  • love it
I have had this humidifier for about 6 months now and I love it. The mist is not to hot to burn my little one which is important. It does an excellent job of putting moisture in the air. It is also very easy to clean....more info
  • Broke for me quickly
I have had two of these now. The first one broke, and I thought it was because I messed it up when I cleaned it. It actually worked well when it did work, and was relatively inexpensive, so I bought another one. This one broke within two weeks. ...more info
  • no good
i bought this humidifier reading the reviews here. but when i actually used for a few days, i found that it provided no relief from dryness while sleeping or during the day. it pretty much did nothing except make the room hotter. i would not recommend this to anyone....more info
I absolutely love this humidifier......but you can get it at Target for only $29.99 and that isn't a sale price....PLUS no shipping. I don't know why everything is just more expensive at Babies R Us, but I found this to be true with ALOT of the items that we were looking to purchase and ALOT of the people who bought us things just printed my registry off and went to either Target or Walmart to make the purchase. ...more info
  • Vicks Warm Mist Humidifier
I purchased a Vicks Warm Mist Humidifier. My husband and I love it. I put in Vicks Vapo Steam (when needed) and turn it on. It keeps the bedroom moist, helps with post-nasal drip and our veterinarian says it is good for the dogs too. It disassembles for easy cleaning. ...more info
  • Unless you want to clean it everyday, find a different one...
I bought this humidifier for the same reasons as many other reviewers, and was happy with it for the first few nights. It put out enough humidity to keep our bedroom moist, and it wasn't loud-especially in comparison to other humidifiers we've tried.

THEN, on the third day, I noticed brown streaks on the paint on the wall nearest the humidifier. I washed them off without any real problem, just thinking this would be a pain to do every few days. Well they were back the next day, and so I decided to clean the entire humidifier as well (which you're only supposed to have to do weekly). There was brown bacteria growing in the water tray and the base! It was so disgusting, and very hard to get off, even with bleach and water. Our water does not have a high mineral content, and I was using filtered water anyway.

I bet if you clean this unit every single day, that wouldn't happen, but who wants to clean a humidifier every single day, especially when there is a baby in the mix? I'm just glad that we tried it out a few weeks before our baby is due! I can't wait to take it back....more info
  • Heaven sent
I received an Evenflow vaporizer during my shower and thought it would help once baby & I got sick. Way to small for my room. I looked at many vaporizers and warm mist humidifiers that would actually work in our room. This one was perfect. I doesn't run out in the middle of the night, and helps keep the room warm when the heat goes down to low at night [apartment headaches]. The amount of night time coughing has lowered and asthma triggered dryness and dry sinis at night have ended. Perfect buy without the high cost....more info
  • Good Buy
This was a good purchase for me. I can tell it's working, in the morning, there's condensation on our bedroom window. You can leave it on all night. Pretty quiet. Good effect on colds....more info
  • noisy and weak
I returned this item after two days because it was way too noisy and made no difference in a small bedroom. The design was nice and seemed easy to fill and maintain, but was not useful for me....more info
  • Odd that this has been so well reviewed...
But I used this Vicks Humidifier model only once and returned it. First, there something rattling around in the base that clearly should not have been there. More importantly, after only one night, there was crusty brown gunk on the inner unit (even if my water is chock full of minerals, should this happen after only one use?), and aside from the water tank, it was not easy to clean. Some humidifer companies suggest cleaning weekly, but this one would require cleaning after each use.

I continue to search for a good, table top humidifier....more info

  • Very Good Product
I am a sensitive sleeper, so noise is important to me. This vaporizer/humidifier is very quiet, does a good job of putting moisture in the air and is eas to clean when occasionally needed. The warm mist is not hot enough to burn which was a concern of mine with two small children. It's easy to operate and refill too. I'd highly recommend this product. Only drawback is it doesn't hold enough water - but this model is not intended to so I didn't count it against the product....more info
  • really works great so far
I bought this warm mist humidifier after owning a vaporizer and a cool mist humidifier. The vaporizer was fine except that it was too hot and burned my son's arm, so i needed something else. The cool mist humidifier (different company) broke very fast besides for the expense of changing filters.
    This humidifier is great.
    1) The warmth is very soothing but not too hot-it won't burn you if you put your hand over the mist.
    2) It never leaks onto the floor or gets the surrounding furniture wet (the other one did all the time).
    3) It is whisper quiet. You can hardly hear the very soft humming sound even when right near it even on high.
    4) It gives out a nice amount of humidity even on the low setting.
    5) It is very simple to clean.
    6) It is very light and easy to fill up.
On the low setting the water lasts well over 12 hours-I haven't timed exactly how long. On high it goes for about a little over 11 hours. The auto shut-off works very nicely.
I really think this product is great so far. I've paid more for it at a local store and still think it's worth it. The Amazon price is really great which makes it a great buy....more info
