Of course, the device can also function as a handy and highly accurate clock. It also comes with a detachable belt holder and security strap so it's always close at hand.

The HJ-112 is powered by a replaceable lithium battery (CR2032) that will last six months when used for walking 10,000 steps a day. The device measures approximately 2.8 x 2.1 x .6 inches (H x W x D) and weighs 1.1 ounces (not including battery).

Customer Reviews:

  • Great Pedometer
Great pedometer. I love the aerobic steps feature on this. I did not give this pedometer a 5 star rating only because it does not turn off at all and I think it could really burn through batteries. Other than that, this is a great pedometer and I recommend it!...more info
  • Easy to Use Pedometer
This pedometer has worked very well for me. I have purchased others and found them so complicated to use that I didn't use them. This makes it easy to set your stride length. It can ride in my pocket and still seems to be accurate (based on the distances I have measured with the car's odometer). The backup clip really keeps it from falling....more info
  • Pocket Pedometer
I am enjoying the digital pocket pedometer. It is very easy to use.
Everything comes with the pedometer so that you can insert the battery
and you are ready to start walking. I would highly recommend this....more info
  • Love it
I purchased 2 other pedometers before this one. The milage is accurate (once I tweaked my step length). It's easy to use, doesn't 'tick' when you walk (others did this), and even gives you aerobic and non-aerobic steps....more info
    THANKS....more info
  • does what it says
i bought this as a gift for my wifes grandmother and she absolutely loves it. i wasn't there when it was given to her and neither myself or anyone else have had to answer questions about it which indicates its ease of use. she uses it everyday, every where she goes and it has encouraged her to walk further and further everyday....more info
  • Omron HJ-112 Pedometer
This is a really easy way to track your steps. The only problem I have is remember to put it on in the morning....more info
  • AWESOME is all I have to say!!!!!!!!!!!
This pedometer works soooo fabulous!!! I had the Sportsline before this one, and I was always checking it -- it counted double steps, missed steps, and hand an annoying click to it every step I took. But, this Omron is so quiet and accurate. I put it on every morning and don't have to worry one bit about its accuracy. It is propelling me towards my weight loss goals! I would buy another one in a heartbeat and have recommended it to MANY of my friends. ...more info
  • Love this pedometer
Wow, this is the best pedometer I have ever used. The Omron HJ-112 Digital Premium Pedometer is very easy to use and read. It records steps, arobic steps, time, calories and distance. You can't argue with this pedometer. The letters and numbers are large and I especially like the clock that is on it. The fact that I can just drop it in my pocket or clip it on is handy for me. No belt loops needed. If I could find one fault, it would be that it does need a slightly larger clip. This product is good!!! I give it a five star rating....more info
  • Best Pedometer I've ever had . .
I bought this Pedometer based on numerous Reviews from many websites. All Reviews were positive for this Omron Pedometer, and I must agree! I've had this Pedometer for 2-months, and it is extremely accurate, with step counting, mileage walked, and calories burned. I love this Pedometer and highly recommend it! You won't be disappointed!...more info
  • It's okay, but...
Have been using this pedometer since receiving it but am having problems. I've followed the instructions for usage and set it up correctly, but it doesn't seem to be keeping an accurate step count. I've been comparing with it an old pedometer I know to be accurate, and it's coming out on the losing end.

The instructions say it can keep count if it's in your pocket, so that's where I've been keeping mine since it's not always practical to have it on a waistband. On the waistband, it seems accurate, but in my pocket, it's off by at least a couple thousand steps every day (a higher count than my old one). A friend has surmised that it needs to stay upright to keep a correct count, but there's no good way to do that, at least not that I've found yet. If anyone can suggest how to make it work accurately being carried in a pocket, I'd like to know.

Otherwise, I like the features, especially the aerobic step count. I'm sure it is a great tool when it works accurately and on a consistent basis, but I just haven't gotten it to that point yet....more info
  • Love it!
This is a very good product. I found it easy to set up and navigate. It attaches securely to clothing. Would recommend it to others....more info
  • pedometer
I love my new pedometer. It is a product which has provided me with
a way to keep up with statistics every day of: how active I am, the

activity or not. Thank you....more info
  • best pedometer that I've ever bought!
Omron HJ-112 Digital Pocket Pedometer this is the best brand of pedometers that I've tried. (and I've used many including Weight Watchers, and various ones bought at Walmart, etc.) Best feature is that is cannot be accidentally reset during the day..automatically goes back to zero at midnight each day. nothing more frustrating that having a couple thousand steps in, only to have one of my previous pedometers accidentally get bumped and reset in the middle of the day. Like the seven day memory as well. I've used another model of Omcron with the ability to link it to my computer but that was more than I needed. I just record my daily steps, and aerobic steps in my Weight Watcher journal daily. love this product and highly recommend it....more info
  • This pedometer rocks!

Great product for keeping track of how much you move about on a daily basis. Bought a pedometer for myself, Mom and now 5 other friends and extended family. • Worked out exactly as expected
After reading all the reviews, and discovering that Consumer Reports also found it to be an excellent buy, I purchased three of these pedometers for myself and family members. The accuracy and ease of use are exactly as advertised. I am very happy with this item!...more info

  • Terrific Pedometer
I selected this pedometer after being disappointed by several other cheap pedometers that did not work. I chose this one because I have a blood pressure machine made by the same company that is very accurate. I have been extremely pleased by the accuracy and reliability of this pedometer. I also like how it attaches to my clothing and has a security strap. It also reads well in a pocket or a purse which is good for certain applications. It keeps a seven day memory which is wonderful. The mileage, steps, aerobic steps and calorie count are the items I wanted to monitor. The read-out is very clear and I like the fact that I do not have to flip anything open to be able to read this one. This machine is terrific and very easy to work.Several of my friends have asked me to purchase the same pedometer for them....more info

  • I am impressed
I've always been skeptical of pedometers but always wanted one.
    Day 1, I counted 470 steps, pedometer displayed 469.
Day 2, I counted 470 steps again, pedometer displayed 468.
    Day 3, I counted 575 steps, pedometer displayed 575.
I HIGHLY recommend this to all my friends.

  • Sort of clunky, but works great
I started using a crappy pedometer that I got on sale and decided to upgrade because the one I was using didn't seem to be accurately counting anything. This pedometer has been very reliable. I like how it tells you aerobic step info as well as regular step info. I like how it resets at midnight--no mental cheating (well, I walked 14000 yesterday so 6000 today is like ten a day, right?). I'm not so good at accurately setting the machine for my stride (sort of long at 5'11"), but I'm OK with generally knowing that I'm moving around. It's pretty secure clipped on to your hip.

The one thing that I have not found to be true about the product is that it doesn't work very well for me if it is not clipped on my hip. The directions tell you you can put it in a purse, but it doesn't register my footfalls when I do that. Also, it's mighty big (is that a pedometer on your hip or are you just happy to see me). But I'm very, very pleased with the purchase.

  • Too Big
I'm surprised by the number of positive reviews. This pedometer is so big I can't wear it with most clothes. If I wear on my waistband - it stretches out my shirts with an unflattering bulge (just what I want at my stomach). If I wear in my front pocket, it creates a strange lump. I don't carry a purse all day, so that feature is of no use to me. Back to my cheap $4 pedometers and assuming the step counts are inflated by at least 1,000 steps. ...more info
  • ehhhh. it's ok, I guess.
I bought the Omron HJ-112 pedometer about a month ago because I had lost my pedometer about 6 months ago. My last pedometer was a cheaper one (around $12), it worked fine, but the clip wasn't strong enough so I lost it on the train one day. I set out searching for a really good one for a great price, and found this one. I was looking for one that had a strong belt clip, was not bulky, and was accurate. The reviews for the Omron HJ-112 were great; it seemed to be a good brand, it has cool extra features (time, calories, 7-day memory) and I was getting a great price for it. So I decided to try it. The clip is pretty good and pretty strong, and the security strap holds on really tight. I have tried it in multiple ways: on the belt/pant, in a pocket, and in a backpack/purse. I'd have to say that the belt/pant way of using it is by far the most accurate (although I'm still not very impressed by its accuracy... my old $12 pedometer was probably more accurate), and the backpack/purse method is the worst (it hardly counts anything). I had read in previous reviews that this pedometer seemed to not count enough or count too much. Well, it does both. It seems to count when it feels like it, and when it does, it counts way too many steps. Then when I've been walking forever, it counts too little of steps. Overall, I love the belt clip and security strap and the fact that it has a 7-day memory in it, but I'm overall not impressed. Go with the cheaper $12 ones. I will next time....more info
  • Really easy to use
I like this pedometer for 2 reasons.

First, it was simple to use right out of the box. The buttons are intuitive and the instructions about measuring your stride were easy to follow. After you do that it easily tracks steps, mileage, calories, etc. There's even a button that lets you go back and see your numbers from previous days.

Second, I love the strap. I know that sounds funny, but I don't think a lot of pedometers come with it. I started by trying to use the clip, but found that I was always managing to push it off when I bent over to put pots away, tie my shoes, etc. I discovered the strap, tied it on, and now I loop it through my belt loop and push the pedometer down into my pocket. It never falls off! And it's hidden in there so I'm not advertising to the world that I'm wearing a pedometer.

    Great product!...more info
  • Omron Pedometer
This is my 2nd Omron HJ-112 Pedometer purchase. This thing is very accurate and quite easy to set up. Installing the battery, however, should have been done at the factory. For anyone with poor manual dexterity and/or poor eyesight, that operation is most dificult due to the miniscule screw that retains the battery cover. The reason I had to purchase a 2nd unit is because the 1st one fell off my belt and was lost. Had I installed the retainer strap in conjunction with the belt clip holder, that event probably wouldn't have occurred. I now carry the pedometer in the coin pocket of my jeans....more info
  • Very accurate pedometer
This pedometer is the only one I have ever used that actually counts EACH AND EVERY step very accurately. Unfortunately, the belt clip could be a bit wider because the one provided does not always hold the device to my belt. There is, however, a lanyard provided that prevents it from falling. Overall, I am extremely pleased with the device and the purchase....more info
  • Not as claimed and company doesn't accept returns
This company does not believe in truth in advertising or customer satisfaction. I chose this pedometer because I don't like the clip to the waist kind, and the product description claimed you could use this in many ways -- Not true at all! The "pocket" they want you to keep it in is a chest pocket, an item women's clothes don't usually have. They say you can keep it in your bag, but only if you hold your bag close to your body constantly and don't let it move too much! The instructions have pictures of all the angles at which the pedometer WON'T work accurately. When you make it through all the "don'ts" in the instructions, it's clear that this is just another clip to the the waist pedometer -- and a big and clumsy one at that! So I decided to return it, and discovered they will not accept returns of pedometers when the package has been opened -- like to read the instructions! I feel totally ripped off. If you're looking for an alternative to a waistband pedometer, this is NOT it....more info
  • Pedometer
I have been using pedometers for over 5 years and this one is the best by far. Other cheaper ones are prone to break, quit working, or provide inaccurate counts and after dealing with a lot of them, I decided it was time to invest in a higher quality meter and this one has proved to be well worth the extra expense. I like the feature that it resets at midnight and has history available. I would definitely recommend this pedometer to anyone....more info
  • Exceptional Product
This pedometer is the greatest. It resets itself to zero everyday. You can carry the pedometer in your pocket and it still will calculate your steps. It has a security clip so that it does not fall off....more info
  • Omron HJ-112 Digital Pocket Pedometer
I have two pedometers, prior to purchasing this one. I bought two, one for myself and the other for my husband. This is definetly a better pedometer and would recommend it to anyone who was in the market. It keeps accurate steps and love the fact of being able to carrying it in other locations besides my hip. My husband and I have become competative in monitoring our daily steps. Great Device...more info
  • BEST pedometer for your money!
I have owned several pedometers and this Omron HJ-112 is by far my favorite (I just bought a second one after my sister liked my last one so well that she kept it). It has all the features you could want and the price is really nice too. I previously owned the HJ-720ITC but did not use the computerized features enough to make the extra price worthwhile for me personally. Although it too was a great product and would probably work well for someone who wants to track their progress on the computer. All-in-all, I have turned several people on to this pedometer and all of us swear by it. Happy purchasing!...more info

  • If your goal is 10,000 steps a day - this will help you get there
I have had this pedometer for about a month now. It was easy to set up and true to description. I never leave home without it. I clip it on and go. I am trying to walk 10,000 steps a day. It is fun to check during the day to see how many steps I have so far. Knowing it is there, I find myself taking the stairs or the long way - to get more steps in. It keeps the last 7 days history and resets itself automatically at midnight. By having the history, if I miss the goal one day, I make sure I do it the next. Tracks number of steps, miles, calories burned and keeps aerobic steps separately. I recommend this to anyone trying to get and STAY moving. ...more info
  • Accurate & Durable
I've had this pedometer for a little over a month now. It was easy to use and set up and appears to be very accurate. We're doing a walking competition at work and I love the fact that if I forget to log my steps for a day or two the memory is stored for 7 days. I have dropped this twice now and left it outside overnight once, both times I "lost" it and found it, it was still in good condition and had stored the memory.

That brings me to my only con..... the clip keeps slipping off of my pants so sometimes it pops off an inconvienant times.

Would totally recommend as others at work are using different pedometers to track their steps and they seem to have difficult with accuracy or accidentally hitting theirs and resetting it. I haven't had either issue with this one....more info
  • Excellent pedometer choice
I had no experience with pedometers at all, but needed something to encourage me to walk purposefully on a regular basis (doctor's orders). I thought I would prefer one that didn't have to be clipped to my waistband because some of my exercise clothes aren't really designed for that. I am extremely pleased with this pedometer. I carry it in my pocket where, miraculously, it counts my steps! It was easy to set up and the numbers are large enough to see easily. I don't just wear it for exercise walks; I wear it all day at work too since you can't really see it in my pocket. It re-sets itself every night, so I don't have to remember to do that. Also, it seems very sturdy. It counts my steps, my aerobic steps (1 per second for at least 10 minutes), the distance walked, and the calories burned. I question the accuracy of the calorie count, but that isn't important to me. This little gadget makes walking more interesting and fun---a big motivator for my exercise program!...more info
  • Outstanding -- very accurate and reliable!
I love it! It is so accurate; I really appreciate the 7-day memory feature which allows me to look back and compare today's steps to what I did yesterday, and the day before, and the day before... I am very motivated since I got it to get my 10,000+ steps in daily. Thanks!...more info

  • Not what I was expecting!
I ordered this product with the hopes of getting more accurate info on my workouts - including calories. Based on all the top reviews for this product I was really surprised by my experience.

I have marked my running route outside and know that I do 4.5 miles, yet the pedometer says 2 miles. On the treadmill I do 3.5 and the pedometer tells me about 1.75.

The calorie counter is ridiculously low for me.

I called customer service and they agreed that the miles and calories seemed very low for my weight/stride and advised that I buy a new batery. As this did not make sense to me, I returned the first one stating that it must be defective. I got a new one and was surprised to find the same results. I tried a new battery but that did not change the results.

If you are new to exercise I do think it is worth it to get the pedometer to try to increase your exercise. However, if you are using this to try to get an accurate reading on calories and distances, etc. then I don't think this is for you....more info
  • Omron Pedometer
I use my pedometer almost daily (depending on the weather) to walk my dog - and, relatedly, myself. According to my little pedometer, we walk anywhere from around 8-10ths of a mile to a mile and a half every day we walk. I have a few kinda gripes about my pedometer: 1), its measure of distance depends upon the accuracy of your measurement of the length of your step. I'm not sure my measurement is completely accurate, but I don't know what to do about it. My dog is kinda large - a Newfoundland - and when she walks fast I'm sure my stride is longer than my base measure; but on the latter parts of our walks she kinda slows down and I hope my resultant shorter steps balance out the longer strides on the early parts of the walks. 2) Another gripe is more nit-picking; the pedometer keeps time (very accurately) but I wish it also showed the date and maybe day of the week as well (I'm retired now and it's amazing how often I'm not sure what day of the week it is!) 3) The pedometer does have a fairly strong spring-loaded clip that one can use to clip the pedometer to one's pants. My gripe is that the clip is a little shorter than I'd like. I can clip the gizmo securely to the inside of the pocket of jeans; but for other kinds of pants it seems kind of iffy. I've had it fall off my belt when clipped to it. I can just stick in the pocket of, say, khakis, but while it's secure there, then I'm not sure about the accuracy of its measurements. But nothing's perfect, and I'm about as pleased with this pedometer as I would be with any other one out there.

  • simple to use and detailed data
I read the reviews and bought this after having used a couple of cheapies that didn't work right. This goes in my pocket for my walking exercise. It counts steps and aerobic steps so you can get a record of the sustained effort of your exercise. I reset it when I start and record the data at the end of my exercise. This is quite accurate, when I walk the same route it varies the step count only by one or two! Get it and forget all the others. Ignore the plastic holder and just loop it on your waistband and put it in your pocket....more info
  • Omron Pedometer HJ-112
This product was highly rated by Consumer Reports. After using it for several weeks, I totally agree. This pedometer is very well made, seems to be very accurate, and displays aerobic steps, other steps, miles, and calories. The displays are very easy to used. The memory keeps count for a week so it is easy to compare day today what distance you are walking.

The pedometer is silent and small enough that it is easy to use. It can be clipped to you belt or even just left loose in a pocket. It works well either way.

I recommend this product very highly....more info
