Customer Reviews:

  • Viralys has helped my kitty
I have a 4.5 month old rescue kitten that has been diagnosed with the herpes virus, which bothers his left eye. When I first rescued him, he had a severe upper respiratory infection which had also settled in his eyes. His left eye had severe scar tissue over it, which has impared his vision.

His vet recommended Viralys to me, and I give it to him twice a day. He is doing much better, I have noticed that my kitty has not had any breakouts of the virus in weeks, and that the scar tissue is clearing up. The vet says it might not clear up entirely, but it has cleared up by at least 50%, which I credit to Viralys.

    Highly recommend ! ...more info
  • My kitty loved it
When my cat started having eye discharge, the vet said it was an outbreak of the herpes virus. She prescribed VET Viralys (along with erythromycin opthalmic ointment). I gave Viralys to my cat three times a day for a week. She loved the taste and happily licked it off my finger. After a week, the problem cleared up and has not returned. Highly recommended....more info
  • Vet recommended
I buy this product for my cats because my vet strongly recommends it. I know it says that they will eat it directly, but I've never had a cat that would eat anything directly. I just put it in their food and they take it that way. ...more info
  • Wonderful
My cats and I love this gel, my cats love the maple flavor. They lick it right off the spoon, I don't even need to put it on there paw. They look forward to it every morning....more info
  • Lysine gel
It works, I suppose if you can get your cats to eat it. However, the gel is much too thin--it leaks out of the tube, and my cats fling it all over if I try to smear it on their coat. They won't eat it when I add it to their food. They much preferred the old formulation, which is no longer available, I guess....more info
  • good for kitty flu prevention
Since I have been putting a little of this gel in my cats morning food, neither of my cats have gotten sick. My kitten used to have the kitty flu all of the time with sneezing and runny nose. This stuff works....more info
  • Great Product
I have given this to my 2 year old kitty. She was diagnosed with a herpes in her left eye. She would have bouts with her eye just tearing and so red that she could barely open it up. My vet recommended lysine. I found this product read the reviews and decided to buy it. I have been using this for a couple of months. I can't believe what a difference this has made! I put in her wet food twice a day. And so far shes doing great! I really highly recommend this. ...more info
  • L-Lysine HCI for cats
This product keeps my cats Herpes infection in check. No more sneezing runny eyes etc. Wonder why vets don't recommend it? It's this or antibiotics. No contest. Jan Pahlke South Bend,IN...more info
  • Viralys (L-lysine) Oral Gel
I found L-lysine to be helpful in keeping my cats eyes clear; he has Herpes and there is evidence that L-lysine aids in reducing the flare-ups. I have given him 500 mgs. a day for the last year and so far, no flare-ups of the virus. Viralys oral gel is apparently good tasting to cats as he eats it right off the plate. ...more info
  • Formula Changed!
I have ordered many tubes of Viralys gel over this last year and found it made a great base for adding powder supplements to be syringed for my cats. This last order I received of 2 tubes, I noticed immediately that the color has changed to a very pale yellow instead of the orange-y color it used to be and the "liquidity" is now like that of thick hair gel! What is even more disturbing is that the "liquidity" is DIFFERENT in the 2 tubes I received! This would indicate a lack of quality control and a legit reason to be concerned about the integrity of this product at this time. 05/13/09...more info
  • great!
This stuff is great. My cat enjoys her food less without it. This product does what it says it does and it even seems to improve her coat. This product was first given to me by my vet and now I dont go a day without it....more info
  • It really helps
My cat has chronic issues and L-Lysine gives him relief. It is a little more liquid than most gel meds so be ready, but is is still preferable to paying $40 for a powder. ...more info
  • Maybe other cats love it, but mine doesn't
It's drippy, oily and difficult to get into my cat. I would not call this stuff a "gel." Zeke doesn't like it, and even if he did, it would drip off my finger way before he could possibly lick it off. Perhaps my vet made a mistake in giving me this, instead of the actual "paste?" Anyway, it's expensive, and I don't have time to administer this stuff to my cat 2 times a day, as I must use a syringe, tie him up in a towel, and force open his jaws. I am investigating other options, since he no longer is fooled if I mix in a crushed tablet in with his favourite treat (yogurt) either. And if I put this drippy oily stuff into anything, he won't go near it....more info
  • Not as palatable as the label says...
I have a kitten that had discharge coming from her eyes and nose, and was sneezing often. My vet suggested I try Viralys, and showed me at her office how much I should use and how to administer it. We both noticed that my kitten was not pleased but decided I would try it given the vet's experience with the product. Unfortunately, it has been very difficult to administer to my cat. She does not like the taste, even when mixed with wet food (she leaves it alone). I tried putting some on her paws but once she tasted it, she left it alone. My older cat does not like the taste either. Had I known that my kitten would be so sensitive to this taste that she didn't like, I would have opted to pulverize lysine pills and sprinkle them on her food instead of spending much more on a messy gel she does not like....more info
  • Wonderful product, great price.
My vet recommended this product for my cat who has chronic FHV. Her nose was always congested, her eyes running, and she used to sneeze constantly. This really cleared up the symptons within a few days. She suggested half dose, or once a day, would be enough for my cat once the symptoms were gone. That helps with the cost, and seems to work as well as the full dose. My biggest surprise is that my cat LOVES it! I just squeeze a small amount on a dish and she licks it right up. So easy, and well worth the expense. Medi-Vet Animal Health has the best prices on Amazon for this product. ...more info
