Product Description

Omron's HJ-151 Hip Pedometer is a great motivational tool to track your steps as you walk your way through the day, and towards greater fitness. The small device's simple operation is perfect for walking beginners, and it's a great tool to help you achieve a healthier, more active lifestyle. Whether your goal is to maintain or improve overall health, lose weight or get more energy in your daily life, physical activity is essential to staying healthy. At least 30 minutes of moderate exercise is recommended each day, and the HJ-151 pedometer separately displays the steps and minutes walked at a moderate pace. It also calculates calories burned and the distance traveled.

The sleek and small HJ-151 simply clips to your belt before you head out for a walk. Or, wear it throughout your busy day to find out just how much walking you're doing in a typical day of work, errands, and play. Note that the HJ-151 must be positioned correctly; it must be horizontal to the ground in order for the unit to function accurately. The device counts your steps and then saves the information for up to seven days, letting you review a full week of exercise. The HJ-151 resets its internal step counter at midnight automatically so it's ready to go every morning. An easy-to-read large display also features a clock so you've always got a timepiece at your side.

The HJ-151 is powered by a replaceable lithium battery (CR2032) that will last approximately one year when used for walking 10,000 steps a day.

Customer Reviews:

  • Omron Pedometer HJ-151
This is my first pedometer and I LOVE it!

When I was looking for one I relied heavily on these reviews. I read SO many and this one seemed to fit everything I needed. It tracks steps, moderate steps, calories, distance and holds it all for 7 days. When it says 7 days it doesn't clear after Sunday. The 7th day just drops off the end which is great. It's REALLY easy to set up. It's small and just sits on my hip out of the way. It's also very durable. I have dropped it like three times and there's not even a scratch on it (that could be luck but I find it mention worthy).

Um what else? OH and its accurate. It won't start counting steps till you are stepping for 4 seconds. Then it will take the steps you took in those 4 seconds and add them to the on going count. If you don't move for 4 seconds it won't count the steps. So you don't get small bumps included in your counts.

It's a GREAT product and for the BUY THIS ONE. :)

I have been using this product for months and I love it! It's the perfect size, easy to read, accurate, and convenient. I just bought one for my mom. Best pedometer I've used. I've even dropped it a few times and it's still running perfectly....more info

  • really good but don't drop it!
works great, very easy to use, but if you drop it once, twice or three times you will be ordeing a new one. they should include the leash for this one that comes with the $29 one. that would solve most of the dropping and popping of the pants thing....more info
  • simple and accurate
I purchased this pedometer for my mother as a gift. She wanted something simple, easy to use, and accurate. Great product!...more info
  • Omron Pedometer
Easy to use, inobtrusive. Very instructive to know how close one is getting to his/her goal of 10K steps a day. When my wife saw mine in use, she went out and got one of her own. ...more info
  • Lots of features, easy to use, very sturdy
I am a nurse and keep buying these for all my friends. Has great features- 7 day memory which automatically resets at midnight. Also has a clock. Very sturdy, I have dopped it a few times and nothing happened.

It is great for raising your awarness to how active or inactive you are.

Goal....10.000 steps a day....comes with booklet that talks about that.

If you are looking for a pedometer this is the one. It is inexpensive and very reliable....more info
  • Good for staying on track
This pedometer is more accurate in counting calories then most pedometers that track only steps, because it takes weight into account. It is also good for staying on track and for charting calories burned in a food and excercise journal....more info
  • smart,no nonsense product
    Calorie counter ? No need.
    Miles/Kilometers converter ? No need.
You want your 10,000 steps per day ? This one will help you achieve the goal. Big numbers, good sensitivity, unobtrusive, it works, it works well , it is here to stay.
I like the midnight reset function, very useful. And the memory of the previous days is a great motivator.
This is my third unit. I lost the does slip off your belt from time to time. I gave the second to someone I liked. It makes for a great present too.
Only problem : triggers the detectors in airports and makes those guys very suspiscious.

  • Thanks to this, I am walking more.
This is a good, basic pedometer. Since wearing it, I have become more aware of how much I move daily and have started walking more. Not only am I hitting the track and walking around my neighborhood, I have found that my awareness of how much I am walking is actually encouraging me to walk more around my home and office.

Nice display and, from what I can tell, pretty accurate. Does the job for that I need done....more info
I originally had a less expensive version of this pedometer from the Cleveland Clinic Shape and Go Program. Amazingly enough I put it through a washing machine cycle and then dropped it in the toilet and I thought it was broken so I ordered this one. My husband rescued the original and he is still using it and I really like this one because it gives me more information. I would definately endorse this brand of pedometers-they are made to stand up to rough treatment and still work! This one has already been in the toilet once and was not damaged--I'm trying hard not to let that happen again!...more info
  • Love my pedometer!
This little pedometer is super easy to use and provides lots of great feedback on my daily activity. I love it!...more info

  • Omron HJ-150 Hip Pedometer
The Omron keeps great walking statistics (up to one week) and also keeps track of the time. My only negative would be the clasp (that holds the Omron to your belt). The first Omron I owned lasted about three months, because the clasp became faulty - and it fell off my belt and I didn't realize (that it was missing). So I bought a new one, and so far, so good - it still hooks tightly to my belt. ...more info
  • Great basic pedometer
Design is very comfortable to wear on the hip. No clicking sound is a nice feature. I like that it has a clock on it and it automatically resets to zero after midnight. No more having to remember to reset the counter. The 6-days before memory feature is great for those who are in step competitions or tracking for programs because you don't have to remember to write the number down/record it every day, since the pedometer stores a week's worth of numbers. Drawbacks: the sensor must be aligned properly to count steps. It does not count incidental steps - you must be walking for more than 4 seconds for it to begin counting. So in reality you are probably taking way more steps than this records, and this is not a good pedometer for those interested in counting steps they take around the house/going about daily business. It will not accurately capture all of those. The benefit is that you will end up taking more than 10,000 steps to make the pedometer read 10,000. I'm very happy with it for the price however....more info
  • Simple and Basic.
This is a great simple and easy to use pedometer. A lot better than a cheapo, but great when you do not with all the bells and whistles others may come with that complicate things too much....more info
  • Omron Pedometer is one of the best for what I need.
This model of the Omron pedometer suits my needs exceptionally well. I had one that I lost, and wanted to replace it with the same model. Not only does it eliminate counting the "inadvertent" steps (walking across the room, wasling from the desk to the light switch, etc.), it keeps the current day and 7 previous days in memory. You can wear it in a number of places on your waistband or pocket, and the count is exceptionally accurate. If you only need to track steps taken, this is a fantastic model....more info
  • Omron Pedometer
This pedometer is great! I like that it's relatively flat so it doesn't get in the way when I'm running or walking. I've had others that are bulky causing them to catch on things and easily pull off & break. I can wear it under fitted clothes and it doesn't bulge out. I have worn it just during a workout as well as all throughout the day to monitor my fitness activity. It keeps great time and monitors my calories and steps run/walked quite acurately. It's easy to set up and use, and it's not as complicated to read as some of the others out there. It provides exactly the right amount of information that I am interested in--time of day, calories burned, time spent doing moderate activity, distance, average speed, and it automatically resets itself at midnight so you don't have to. For the price, this pedometer is definitely worth it! I highly recommend this one. ...more info
  • Just what I needed
I wanted a pedometer that wouldn't quit working 2 weeks after I bought it, or the first time it hit the ground. Didn't want a lot of bells and whistles - just something to help me track my walking. This pedometer has done a great job. It has a sturdy clip and even though it did fall off (just once in the last month) it didn't break into pieces as two previous pedometers did. It's simple to use and tracks for 7 days which is helpful. Easy to read as well. Excellent quality, great price -- I highly recommend it....more info
  • Accurate, reliable, 0ne week history is very helpful.
This is really a great product to help keep track of the distance you walk daily and keep a weekly record of your efforts. So far, I,ve accidentally dropped mine several times and no ill affects....more info
This was recommended to me, and it will not disappoint. It is extremely accurate; there is no 'gait measurement' involved and it is very comfortable and lightweight;you don't even feel it. Because of this, it sits very flush and is not noticeable under clothes. I wear it every day and love how accurate it is. ...more info
  • This is a great pedometer
This pedometer is very convenient and comfortable to take it everywhere with you. It's quite small and easy to work with. I have used it for couple far so good.
It makes you realized how much you walk a day. If you are conscious about being healthy, this pedometer is a nice tool to have.
Pro : small cheap and simple
Cons : it can slip off your belt...more info
  • Pedometer
Bought this pedometer to replace one just like it. Prior reviews stated pedometer stops working if dropped from waist level. The clip is not particularly secure, the previous pedometer dropped a few times, and it did indeed stop working. I liked the performance, though, and feel it is worth replacing. I made a leash to prevent dropping it when the clip slips and my current pedometer is working fine. ...more info
  • Works Great, Likes To Roll Away..
The Omron Pedometer works awesome. It is a great size, seems accurate and looks attractive enough that I don't mind keeping it on my belt. But, thats the thing, apparently, like other pedometers, it doesn't actually want to STAY on my belt. Its older brother has a nice cord that you can securely clip to your belt so that if it falls, it wont roll away, but this one does.. and because of this I've actually lost two of them.

I still have mine, and use it weekly.. but a lot less than I used to as I really do not want to lose another one. Omron, built in those secure fasteners and you would have a perfect product here!!...more info
  • Step counter is spot on
I bought this pedometer based on the other reviews. After using it for a month I have to say I have been very pleased with it. It keeps 7 days of steps, which is nice since I do not always remember to record my steps every day. It also has a clock, which is nice for those of us who have problems wearing watches (something about my chemistry or electrical charge- I can kill a watch after just a month of wearing them, even expensive watches). It is dead on as far as actually recording steps. I have tested it time and time again and I have yet to be disappointed. A warning on reading the steps, it will start recording after the first 4 seconds of movements to avoid false readings. That threw me off at first until I read the directions again and found out that was normal. It is also very sturdy, since I have dropped it at least 4 times with no problems. I have had it slip off maybe 3 times, and I wear it everyday. This problem is easily solved. On the top of the clip is a small hole. Just thread a piece of string through the hole, tie it in a knot with some of the string hanging off in a loop and pin to your waistband with a safety pin. It cost about 10 cents and is less bulky then the leashes they sale.

*bulky- it stick out more then I would like under my shirt.
*no calorie counter- oh well, still a great pedometer.
*awkward to read- the digital part faces out, so it is hard to look down and read how many steps you have taken at any given time. It is not enough to cause problems, it is just a quirk of mine.

The only thing I really do not like is its bulk. It is about as thick as Sharpie marker cap. I ordered another, thinner pedometer, but I will still use this one on occasion when my shirt is tucked in.

The pedometer stopped working for no reason one day. The clock worked, but no step counting. I took the battery out and placed it back in- no change. I was not happy about it. I left it on the counter over night and it started working again. So just in case this happens to anyone else they may want to try leaving it sitting out after resetting it by taking the battery out....more info
  • Basic, but great for the price
It's nothing fancy, but this basic pedometer had all the features I wanted and a great price. Super simple to use & saves 7 days worth of data....more info
  • Great for counting steps
This item is great for counting your steps, showing how many calories you burn, keeping a 7 day memory, and keeping time. The delivery was really quick!...more info
  • Works great at first
I used this for about 2 months before one of the screws holding the clip on fell off. A few days later it stopped counting steps. This is the second Omron pedometer I've owned that eventually stopped working. They work fabulously for awhile and have excellent features, but like most things today, they don't last....more info
  • Pedometer
I love this pedometer. It is very easy to use. The only complaint is that you need to use a leash or you will lose it. The clip on the back does not seem tight enough to keep it on. Both my husband and I love this pedometer..but we both have lost one as well. Now we use the leash and we are totally worry to lose the pedometer now....more info
  • Works great!...
I bought this pedometer to have a control of my daily body workout and it works great, love it. VERY accurate and easy to use!...more info
  • Reliability and Service Make this a Lemon
I have bought three of these Omron HJ-151 Hip Pedometer for Aerobic Activityin the last two months - one for myself, my daughters and my wife. I paid about $13 each for them. Of the three, only one is still working. I love them except for that, but I think you would agree, that is a deal killer. The setup is easy, the accuracy is great and the information available (steps, mod steps, kcal, and miles) is great.
The first pedometer worked about a week. After it quit, I printed out proof of purchase and shipped to the manufacturer (at my expense -$2). They required a $5 check for return shipping (total - 7). I received a new pedometer about two weeks later. So for a fully warranted, defective pedometer, I paid out of pocket over half of the original purchase price. That is not good backing of their product. Well, as icing on the cake, a few days after the first one got back, a second one went bad. Same as before, simply quit counting (shows 0 steps). I have decided not to send it back, but take my losses, write this review and buy a replacement from another company. ...more info
