Customer Reviews:

So disappointing... This cup has more leaks than any other sippy I've tried. I, too, was attracted by the allure of a leak proof way to keep my daughter's milk cool in the summer time so I bought this overpriced and overengineered sippy. This consistently makes a bigger mess than any other sippy we have. If I still had the packaging, I would return it in a heartbeat and I caution any of you to save your money and spend it on the playtex spill proof cups or insulated sippies. ...more info
  • Not the best, but better than plastic
The lid componets are hard to put together, which make it easy to link. When it's put together properly it does not link. I would rather deal with that than have my son drink out of plastic....more info
These are by far the best sippy cups we've given to our boys. They get banged and thrown around and handle all the abuse two toddlers can throw at them and they still look like new!
The people who say these cups leak are probably idiots who shouldn't be in charge of complex machinery like sippy cups.
OK, these cups will leak if you don't put them together properly. However, if pushing a few pieces of rubber together until they click is way too difficult for you, maybe you should just ask your husband to do it for you before he leaves for work in the morning!!!(that was said tongue in cheek by the way before you get all feminist and start complaining that someone has upset your pretty little delicate temperament!)
I highly recommend these cups as robust and well made items that are far superior to most of the plastic junk on the market.

  • Love it
This is the first sippy we have had that doesn't leak. Sure it may take a second try at putting it together right after cleaning it (which is really simple, I don't understand what all the complaints are about), but the quality of this container far outweighs the 10 seconds lost having to put the lid on twice.

Our son also loves it. It makes a funny little bird-like sound when he holds the nipple end on top. He finds that endlessly amusing. And the thing is practically bulletproof. He walks around smashing it on everything and there isn't a mark to be found anywhere.

I'd give this 6 stars if I could. ...more info
  • hard to clean & reassemble
The lid has to be taken completely apart to clean, 4 pieces total. Ok, I can deal with that. You have to snap it back together carefully and as close to perfectly as you can get, or it leaks. Even if you get it back and it doesn't leak around the sippy, once it's used, it leaks around that little air hole for venting. I pour out any milk left over immediately, so it doesn't sit. Soaks in detergent and hot water, then washed in the dishwasher. Smells sour, the silicone ring around the underside of the rim is basically impossible to clean. It's nasty smelling. We don't use it anymore. If there's a sour smell, there must be bacteria?!! What a disappointment. ...more info
  • Safe for your precious little one!
My son is 3 and 1/2 and he was excited to get his new, sleek sippy cups. I purchased them so that he would no longer be exposed to the harmful chemicals in typical sippy cups. It is super sturdy and the parts are all high quality.. because it is so sturdy, it is a bit heavy, so that may be an issue for very little ones. ...more info
  • spend your money on Klean Kanteen instead
Trying to find a great non-plastic, safe sippy cup, I was excited to see this one coming on the market. Loved that it's thermal, as we live in the mid-atlantic region with long hot summers. And that it's Thermos.

But after a few months of trying to use them (yup, we bought a couple), they sit in the back of the cupboard. The problems are: unless you get the lid parts aligned perfectly and on super tight, it seeps when it's laying on its side. The lid has 4 pieces, not a huge problem, but try as I might I just can't the lid on right, so if my daughter drops it, it leaks - in the car, on the couch, the carpet, you get it. The other problem is there's a silicone ring inside the cup, just under the rim, and you really have to get under it to clean the cup (can't pull it out) or the cup with smell sour all the time.

We have had great luck with the Klean Kanteen - easy to clean, comes with a sport top (some of them) and you can get a sippy top adapter that allows you to use Avent sippy tops/lids sold separately. No leaks, very clean, stainless steel - wish there was a thermal version! Also, our 3.5 yr old has trouble opening and closing the twisting sport top on her Sigg bottle, so Klean Kanteen works best for us for now. ...more info
I was disappointed to find out that this item is manufactured in China. This really should be disclosed in the item details. I would probably have given it a five if I had not been specifically searching for a stainless product that was not from China.

As a result of criticism received on my above review I find it necessary to elaborate. I purchased the Foogo by Thermos Leak-Proof SS 12 oz - Straw Bottle for my son for the same reason many parents have, a non-toxic alternative to the popular plastic products on the market. However, I also had another concern at the time of purchase. I knew I wanted a stainless steel product, the problem was I also knew I did not want one that was manufactured in China. I was concerned with the increasing number of lead tainted products being exported by the country and simply did not want a metal product from China. My problem was finding documentation on many of the stainless steel products on the market. During my research, I discovered that although Thermos has many products manufactured in China they also had a high end line that was manufactured in Malaysia. So I decided to take a chance and buy the foogo hoping that it was also from Malaysia since it had a higher price tag than the Chinese made products. I was disappointed to find out when it was delivered that it was indeed "Made in China". In an attempt to save other like minded parents the same frustrations I reviewed the product, giving it two stars and pointing out that it was manufactured in China. I then proceeded to copy my review to the remaining foogo line of product, disclosing that I had not purchased them personally but to assume that they were made in China....more info

  • Fuggetabout Fuggo
We purchased this Fuggo sippy cup for our toddler a couple of weeks ago, liking the visual style, apparent durability, and Thermos brand name. Unfortunately, we almost immediately found this to be one of the worst products we have purchased for our child.

The biggest problem is that this leak-proof cup leaks. The cap is so terribly over-designed that taking it apart and putting it back together properly is a chore. Four different pieces (the outer blue shell, the yellow mouthpiece insert, and a 2-piece form-fitting silicone and plastic valve contraption) must be separated, each individually cleaned and then reassembled. This might be simple enough if it actually worked, but when putting the lid back together the yellow and blue pieces simply do not realign properly. What this means is that the spout may be leak-proof but the cap itself isn't. We've followed the instructions implicitly and repeatedly end up with the contents spilling out of the top.

In addition, if your child likes to chew, this spout seems to be too thin, soft and flexible to be durable. Normally we'd think this might end up being a choking hazard, but since we won't use the cup because of the leakage we really don't know how durable it actually is.

And then there's the price. This Foogo costs approximately 2-3 times that of any other sippy cup we've purchased previously, and the cheaper ones don't leak and are simple to clean. Yes, this one may be insulated, but if you're in doubt spend the extra money you'll save on a small cooler bag.

Most disturbing is that I voiced these concerns to Thermos directly via it's website a few weeks ago. To date I've yet to receive the courtesy of a reply.

Steer clear of Foogo. It's not worth the bother, the leaks, the price, or Thermos' poor customer service.

  • No leak!
I bought both the Foogo straw cup and this sippy cup. While the straw cup leaked continuously when tilted without the cap on, this sippy cup does not leak when tilted upside down!

The spout is relatively soft although not as soft as the spouts on the Nuby cups/bottles. The valve took some effort to remove for cleaning as there is an additional valve plate over the valve and the plastic pull is tough to grasp even with small fingers. However, it is doable and I may get better at pulling it just the right way.

This would a 5-star product if it had an easier valve set-up for cleaning and a cap to protect the spout from dirt when the kids drop it.
