Customer Reviews:

  • Good Price but Leaks
I bought this for my son because of the low price. From day one it leaks out of the air hole on the top. I'm contacting the company as I doubt this is supposed to happen. Hope it is resolved....more info
  • ok bottle
I like the convenience of the sports cap, but I do not like that it leaks. I have to remember that it leaks, so I don't put it in my bag laying down. But it's better than BPA plastic water bottles....more info
  • Perfect for my grandchildren
I was concerned about the safety, cost and waste of the plastic water bottles my daughter sent with my grandchildren in their lunch bags everyday to school. The children love their new water bottles. The size is perfect for their lunch bags and they know they are helping the environment. ...more info
  • Leaky
Leaky when tipped over, but handy and I do like them (I bought 2 for my kids) they use them as night time water bottles.... and my son takes his to baseball games.
I don't really like the feel of the plastic lid - thats just personal, Its hard and - I am not sure it will last very long...more info
  • Wonderful Bottle to Chill
I do a lot of hiking and the recent concerns about BPA had me wondering. I drank almost daily out of clear plastic Nalgene bottles, two from a major enviro clothing outlet. I sent them an e-mail about the hazard, and possible replacement, and they replied that they had withdrawn them a few years ago, and had no free replacement for them but Sigg bottles.

Well, I did another search that brought me to Amazon! A bit upset about the cost compared to a plain plastic bottle, I figured it would cost far more for medical problems. Diabetes is said to be linked to using bottles potentially leaching BPA, and my Doc said I was potentially vulnerable.

Plunking down the money, I boiled water to make sure they were cleaned out, and to make sure if I ever went backpacking again, there would be no problems like warped/melting plastic or anything like that--they do have a seal.

So now between hiking trips, I use these in my fridge to chill tap water and to drink from them daily. I sure feel better about drinking from these bottles, and although this is not scientific, feel much better after I started using these.

Perhaps a better idea is to have some with vacuum sided walls, like a thermos. That would keep the contents either cool or hot, so on top of a mountain you can have a cold one, or in winter, hot soup or chocolate for that warmer-upper for a ski trip or save from the exorbitant prices at a resort. I can attest there's nothing like hot chili on a frigid cold windy mountain top while your associates are munching and crunching on their frozen sandwiches!

Incidentally, a heavy sock will help insulate the bottle. I can have a cold drink hours after I fill the bottle, even in warm weather! The widemouth is nice for ice to be added, or for pouring.

Another stainless steel bottle I have has a plastic cap, which I guess will have to be replaced sooner or later. The stainless steel cap on this one looks durable enough, although again, it has a rubber seal....more info
  • Inexpensive stainless steel bottle option
We had been looking for a less expensive stainless steel water bottle for our 3-year-old. I knew we didn't want plastic, but finding something under $20 was difficult. I found this online at and decided to try it out. Because it was just going to hold water, I didn't worry about it leaking too much.

This water bottle is a good choice for people who do not want to spend an arm and a leg finding a stainless steel water bottle. It does leak, yes, and the top cap is difficult to get on (and it usually pops back off, which contributes to the leakage) but for what we paid and for what it does, it's worth it. It's a good size for a small child and is light and easy to clean. The mouth of the bottle is large enough to fit a smaller brush in there, and with a good scrub with soapy water it usually gets clean.

If the top is on properly, the leaks can be cut down to almost nothing. However, it is hard to get the top on so that it stays, so we just make sure she has water in it or is holding it upright.

I would recommend this bottle to people with young children who need a good, inexpensive water bottle. It does its job and I feel much better knowing she isn't using a plastic bottle....more info
  • New Wave Enviro Stainless Steel Water Bottle
Great product. Small enough to put in a lunch box. Easy to clean. Recommend for a small child or when you don't need or want to carry a large water bottle. ...more info
  • nice product
This is a nice little water bottle. It is made of thinner stainless steel than the Kleen Kanteen bottles, so it is lighter, but may be slightly less durable. The lids are interchangle with the Kleen Kanteen lids....more info
  • Problem Lids
We have a store-bought New Wave bottle and love it, but were very disappointed by these. The lids are very poorly made and when we asked for replacements, we were sent the exact same lids, which also don't work....more info
  • Great bottle!
I really like this bottle. It has a wide mouth, which makes it easy to clean and fit ice cubes inside. I have not had any leaky cap issues at all. No complaints....more info
  • My 2 and 3 year old granddaughters love these!
and think they are sooo cool! What would a 2 and 3 year old know about cool? Beats me, but that is how they feel about these beverage bottles. So much better than their plastic sipper cups....more info
  • Cool Stainless Water Bottle
My grandsons love the stainless water bottles. They think they are VERY cool and I'm glad to have them drinking from something that is safe and environmentally wise....more info
  • Great small size for a great product
I bought two for my kids' lunch boxes. The safety cap is really a bonus. I feel they are well made and will go a long way in helping me to reduce plastic bottles used in my home. All my friends ask about them....more info
  • Good water bottle
I bought two of these bottles for my kids, and they love them. I agree with another reviewer that the caps are hard to manipulate, and if the cap is up and the bottle tips, the bottle will leak. But otherwise it's a great product and has helped reduce our family's consumption of bottled water. ...more info
  • mine were defective
I'm an adult mom who bought four of these for our family. The vents didn't work and they leaked- every one of them. We returned them. I wish I had read the reviews......more info
  • a great little bottle
I bought these for my two pre-schoolers to replace plastic bottles for water and they have worked out wonderfully. They don't leake at all; in fact, the seal is often so tight that it is difficult to unscrew the top. I will buy these again and recommend them to other parents trying to get off the plastic bottles and sippy cups....more info
  • Great for running
I bought this as an alternative to the usual plastic water bottle I always hold in my hand when I run. With the plastic bottles, I became concerned about all the chemicals possibly filtering into the water as the water sloshed around inside and invariably got warmer as I ran. This new bottle is easy to hold, light weight and is just big enough for my runs,(usually a little over an hour). I love it and don't worry anymore about the plastic stuff getting into water. It's also easy to clean....more info
  • Its just okay.. Klean kanteen seems better
The plastic on the new enviro bottle caps are cheaper than the KK bottles which seem more durable. I agree with the other reviews that the bottles leak and its hard for children to pull the lid. I bought a few and use them but am planning on staying with the klean kanteen ones even if they are a little more expensive....more info
  • great for kids lunchboxes
This is the perfect size for kids; however, the cap needs some redesigning. First of all, it shouldn't be plastic. Next, the lid top is difficult for little hands to pull on and off.

Overall, I like the bottle -- I just leave the lid off with the cap pushed closed. I've used it a dozen times and it has not leaked....more info
  • leaky cap!
I wish I had seen that warning about the leakiness before I bought mine! It leaked water in my bag and fried my cellphone. Needless to say, I am extremely unhappy at this point as I need to go buy a new phone tomorrow unless the air conditioner manages to suck the moisture out of the non-functioning keypad. This cap stinks! It is a slow leak, so if you are just throwing it in a gym bag or beach bag, I guess it's OK, but don't put it in any bag with anything that needs to stay dry. ...more info
  • Works great, doesn't leak for me, kids love 'em
You can order alternative caps like the other Sports Cap on Amazon by New Wave, or you can order other kinds of caps (and a bottle cooler/carrier) from their website directly (free ship on orders over $8). By the way, if you want to fill it with a fizzy drink, these spout caps don't hold up to the gas pressure. Order a spout-less cap.

The caps are easy to sip from for my 4 year old, who can also pull open and push closed the spout without adult assistance (this is nice because his preschool teacher might not check on how well the bottle is closed for him--ie, stinky milk mess in the lunchbox at the end of the day.) This cap is easy for him to handle alone.

You can also just unscrew the cap & pour or drink from the bottle directly, if you want to.

The steel wall itself seems sturdy enough, easy to clean with my bottle brush, & the steel bottle isn't too heavy for my 4 year old to hold & sip from. ...more info
  • Great lunchbox water bottle
I got one for my older son's lunch box. Now that I really understand the lid design we have no leaking problems. There is a tiny, clear (silicone?) "nipple" that pokes up next to the sports top spout. It can be pressed down to make the water flow more readily (like, super easily) through the sports top. If it is set that way, it will leak. Just push that nipple up from underneath, and no leaks. I check this after I wash the bottle each time. I feel better about my son using this bottle, I feel better about our environmental impact, and the price is not bad! I am ordering one for my younger son now....more info
  • love it
I had bought the liter bottle and love it! I dont have a problem with the top or "chirping" that everyone has mentioned. I have two liter bottles that I tote around and now two 12oz bottles for my kids at school. NO problems! However, I do not use the "sport" top on my liter bottles, I just unscrew them....more info
