Customer Reviews:

  • Snack food from heaven!
I take a little cup to work with me with Kashi GOLEAN Crunch, walnuts, raisins, bran flakes, etc. I make it a little different every time.

When everyone around me is eating cookies or doughnuts, I take out my "survival kit," pour a cup of coffee and my diet is saved for yet another day....more info
  • Our favorite cereal
This cereal is a staple in our household. We've consistently used it for breakfast over the past 4 years. It has the perfect blend of sweetness, crunchiness, fiber and protein. And the cereal keeps for a long time without going stale. Very filling and a great way to start the day....more info
  • Too crunchy!
This cereal is good, but... make sure you have dental insurance. I am guessing it is a crown breaker. ...more info
  • Cereal full of bugs!
I love this cereal so when I saw a big sale on the 4.3oz boxes of it I bought 48 boxes! Halfway through our first breakfast my wife realized that the little black seed looking things in the cereal were actually little dead bugs!!! Once she said that I started looking in my bowl and realized it was full of them! I'm a big fan of the cereal but will NEVER purchase any from Amazon or probably off the internet for that matter. Grocery store is fine with me! Buyer beware!...more info
  • And I don't even like cereal
I never have liked cereal-probably because I hate milk, but I wanted to eat healthier and kept seeing the ad for Kashi so I bought it. This is the very best snacky-breakfasty-anytime food I have ever had. I love the flavor, and because I do not drink milk, I eat mine in a bowl with a 1/4-1/2 cup of raisins-mmmmmmm...I swear its so good that you'll want to feel guilty for eating it!! Its is crunchy, but that's a good thing. Instead of reaching for the chips when I want to crunch, I reach for the Kashi. Love Love Love it!!!! I suggest you buy 2 boxes at first if you are married. My husband practically ate an entire box with in 2 days : )...more info
  • not bad, not the best
i tried golean crunch as part of kashi's free sample gimmick--i'll assume that the quality is the same as the store-bought!... anyway, i rate it highly on taste, as it reminds me a little bit of the honey smacks i used to eat, only not so overly sweet. and its health factor is pretty fantastic too (for me, some things taste better when you know they're good for you, although usually it's the opposite!) but the texture, well, they don't call it crunch for nothing--it was a little too crunchy for me. in some bites, the crystallized honey or whatever was like rock candy, and rock solid. still, it's good stuff, but i'll take one of kashi's crunch bars over this any day....more info
To me this is the best cereal ever for breakfast or snacking. It's delicious-stays crunchy(disagree totally with the person that said it got soggy-try it with just a little bit of almond milk-MMMMM).
Since finding this, I'm just not happy with any other cereal, even take it with me when I travel. And I always buy mine in bulk, so this is great, especially for folks who have a hard time finding it. I'm lucky,as I can get it for less locally.
Even the other Kashis pale by comparison, and it's the most healthy cereal i've found.

  • A Tasty, Less Sugary Granola from Kashi
I actually like Kashi's new commercials about how healthy ingredients need to taste good to be in their cereals, and then they show a somewhat overweight guy as a food researcher going into various third world situations to find them, Indiana Jones-style. I had an opportunity to try Kashi's GoLean Crunch! Cereal in a sample packet as part of a promotional package Amazon sent me of their non-perishable groceries. Full of their Seven Whole Grains and Sesame cereal, it is indeed tasty without the overwhelming clusters of sweeter granola cereals. There is some of the sawdust taste of barley and soybean in there, but the whole oats and brown rice manage to dominate with honey, cinnamon, evaporated cane juice and brown rice syrup adding a dash of sweetness. A cup is 190 calories, which is higher than my favorite, Kashi's Heart to Heart cereal, but it does have only 95 mg of sodium and 8 grams of fiber. It's definitely a worthwhile entry in the granola category....more info
  • Great to eat right out of the box
I've been eating GOLEAN Crunch! cereal for over a year now and the exclamation mark after crunch is fitting. There are huge round clusters at the top of the box perfect as finger food, but after you get half way or so into the contents most of the rest is small and harder to eat right out of the box. Still tasty and crunchy, however.
Despite the great taste without milk, or in concert as a granola topper of sorts, I find that this cereal causes an inordinate amount of gas buildup in my system. Hence the rating of 4. It may be just me, or one of the seven grains is the culprit. And, despite this realization, I'll continue to eat it primarily because of its great taste and good all-around nutrition....more info
  • Snack time!!!
This cereal is great to snack on while watching TV or a DVD. My children even love it. It is sweet enough that they eat it dry right out of the box. Yet it is crunchy enough to keep things interesting. Believe it or not they prefer this to a bowl of greasy popcorn. Actually, I do too. :)...more info
  • Whole grain bugs?
I ate the last bowl today of 7 whole grain Kashi and the last shake of the box which had an experation date of October 2008 exposed the insect, not sure what kind of bug it was, but I know its not whole grain anything!

Beware, this product is not vitamin fortified. It is probably best utilized for its fiber content....more info
  • Delicious and filling!
Kashi GoLean Crunch! is really good. Seriously, truly tasty. It's got a real "crunch!" to it, as the name makes clear -- but after the initial crunch, it's got this understated sweetness about it, a mixture of cinnamon and maybe a little honey. Mmmm. A bowl is very filling, and here's the amazing part: it actually KEEPS me full. For hours. As for the "clumps" that some people are complaining about, those are my favorite part! It's just a characteristic of the cereal -- kind of like how, sometimes, pizza will have a bubble of dough in it. Mmmm. Love the bubble, love the clumps.

    HIGHLY RECOMMENDED....more info
  • Watch out for stale products from Amazon
I bought a case of Kashi GoLEAN cereal from Amazon in December 2007, and opened it only to find an expiration date of March 2008. According to the manufacturer the cereal has a shelf life of one year and therefore has been sitting on the shelf for the past nine months. Amazon offered only a partial refund for the stale product....more info
  • The health-conscious Honey Smacks
...And that's a good thing, in my book. It has to be said that for cereals with this much nutritional content, it is an uncharacteristically sweet blend. But GoLean Crunch doesn't share the artificial, high-fructose corn-syrup taste of your favorite childhood cereal. The honey and cinnamon deliver a restrained but vibrant flavor that satisfies the sweet tooth and saves you the toothache. In time, you'll wonder why your body kept craving the kid's stuff at all.

Kashi cereals are generally very satisfying--after downing a bowl, you feel a rush of energy and a lightness that many competing high-fiber cereals can't deliver. Along with a hot cup of coffee, fresh fruit and maybe some yogurt, this is a highly recommended breakfast item for anyone looking for sustained energy throughout the early hours of the day (and who isn't?)....more info
  • Love the flavor and the crunch
This cereal is like rice puff clusters. Sweet, crunchy and filling. Love it!...more info
  • Great.........For A Snack {3 Stars}
This stuff is great as a snack. As a breakfast cereal? Not so much. For some reason, the taste totally disappears once they come in contact with skim milk and they get soggy (and extremely chewy - like chewing coconut) in less than 3 seconds. So it's like chewing on wet cardboard with a hint of cinnamon or something. Maybe it's just me. Oh well, go figure. I do love them as a great finger food. So I recommend these as a light, healthy snack right out of the box, but if you're looking to buy this as a breakfast cereal, I recommend looking elsewhere....more info
  • I'm Just Not Addicted...
With so many other glowing reviews, I feel a little ashamed to put my own lukewarm review in. Kashi GoLean Crunch! has 7 whole grains in it, which means puffed rice is mixed with oats and rye and other grains to make clusters. It's naturally sweetened, which is a plus, and it definitely stays crunchy in milk. Really, really crunchy. It has sort of a sweet, oat-slightly-nutty flavor to it, and it's not bad.

However, as I said, I'm not really addicted to it. I prefer Back to Nature Granolas, and as I wrote this review, I became curious as to their nutrition facts. So here is the Kashi measured up against the Back to Nature All-Natural Granola, Apple Blueberry, 15-Ounce Packages (Pack of 6) - measured by 1/2 cup servings. There are definitely more calories in BTN (200 vs. 95), but there's fruit too, which the Kashi GoLean lacks. BTN has slightly less sugar (6 g to Kashi's 6.5g), less salt (20 mg to 47.5 mg) and there's more protein in it (6 g to Kashi's 4.5g). They are equal in the following categories: dietary fiber (4g) and calcium (2%); there's more fat in BTN (2.5g=4% BTN, 1.5g=2.5% Kashi). So there is not a lot of difference between the two.

But as for the taste and the texture? I'd readily take granola any day over the Kashi. I don't like overly crunchy cereals (why buy a cereal specifically named, "Crunch!" right?) and the granola is crisp enough for me. There are fewer sharp edges to stab me in the gums....more info
  • Kashi disappointment
I am very disappointed in my last shipment of Kashi Go Lean Crunch. It was very dry in large lumps--not at all the even distribution of cereal I had expected and have always found in Kashi's boxes for the last several years. I don't know if this was a shipping problem or a product problem.

  • Good snack
This is a tasty, relatively healthy cereal which probably goes well with milk. I don't know as I don't drink milk, but it works for me as a snack. Better to nibble on this than sugar-laden or fat-laden commercial "snack foods" IMHO. It does have some rye & wheat so if you are very sensitive to gluten, this might be a downer. I'm somewhat sensitive, but it didn't seem to have much effect on me. Fortunately, the main ingredients are oats & rice. Enjoy!...more info
  • Healthy
This cereal not only tastes good and is good for you. It will clean you out pretty good as well! Tons of fiber and beleive it or not, this cereal has like 9 grams of protien per serving!!!...more info
  • Love it, but should be called Colon Go Clean
Love, love, love this cereal. Great taste, good for you and high in fiber. But my god does it wreck havoc with my intestines. Wow!...more info
  • Finally, good granola with no guilt!
This cereal is great! High fiber, no saturated fat or trans fat, modest sugar, and it tastes really, really good! Plus they admit that the serving size is a full cup of cereal. I highly recommend it....more info
  • I am a fan
A good amount of fiber and protein makes this a meal that sticks. It's a little sweet, but not overbearingly so....more info
  • Oh my.. too crunchy
I love crunchy cereal or anything that does not turn to mush in 60 seconds. However, this cereal is just way to hard. Mid way through my jaw started to ache and I was seriously concerned about one of my teeth since it only has a temporary on at the moment.

I hate to rate a cereal with lots of other good attributes only 2 stars, but I just would not buy this again....more info
  • Kashi GoLean Crunch! Absolutely GREAT!
I love this cereal. It is so healthy and so delicious. The packaging has a picture of blueberries on the cereal, so I thought it came with the blueberries. I was disappointed to find out that I had to buy my own blueberries to go with the cereal. After trying it, I was completely amazed by the taste. Usually something that is so good for you does not taste so good. Well, in this case I don't mind eating the healthy cereal or buying my own blueberries to go with the cereal! It's that good. Very crunchy and just enough sugar to satisfy your taste. It really is the best cereal I've tried in a long while....more info
  • Great Tasting and Crunchy Too!
I have always liked the taste of GoLean cereal and now it's even better with the crunchy nuggets. Kashi is a good source of high fiber and this makes it easy to add to my regular diet. I also enjoy mixing GoLean Crunch with other Kashi cereals....more info
  • One of the Best Cereals
Most cereal either tastes good or is bad for you. GoLean Crunch has the best of both worlds - it tastes as great as most full-calorie granola cereals but it has lots of Fiber and Protein, which most people just don't get enough of in their diets. I even keep a box of this stuff at work for snacking!...more info
  • Snap & crackle in the morning...
When I'm dieting I crave crunch food. Kashi GOLEAN is the lowest carb cereal I could find and a portion size larger than 1/4 cup. It's very crunch and stays crunchy even in milk (not forever but longer than most cereal). The flavor is pleasant and it needs NO sugar or sugar substitutes. Very good....more info
  • Surprisingly Good
I tried a Kashi cereal several years ago and hated it. But after recently trying one of their frozen dinners and loving it, I thought I'd give the cereal another try. I was pleasantly surprised. This one actually reminds me of the taste of Honey Smacks - just not quite as sugary and crunchier. This cereal still contains some sugar, but at least it's in the form of a natural product instead of corn syrup.
