It's too bad that this second season set for Frisky Dingo also serves as its swan song (the show was canceled in 2009), because the animated series was among the drollest and most irreverent on television. And nowhere is that more evident than in this sophomore season, which adds a healthy layer of political satire to its warped take on superhero mythology. This time around, the traditional roles seem to have been reversed, with arch-villain Killface now a hero for accidentally saving the world from global warming (an unforeseen side effect of his planet-smashing device, the Annihilatrix), while billionaire good guy Xander Crews--a.k.a. Awesome X--now reduced to poverty. Killface takes advantage of this change in fortune by running for President on the Democratic ticket, which in turn spurs Crews to get his act together and become the Republican nominee. What follows is a blend of Dingo's typical absurdity--Crews seems more interested in getting Fred Dryer for his running mate than winning the election - and some pointed jabs at elements of the 2008, including calculated choices for VP (rapper Taq'uil becomes Killface's choice after assuring black voters that the alien will eventually be assassinated) and issues of patriotism and nationality (Killface's origins, which are revealed in this season, play a major factor in the race's outcome). Given the time, Frisky Dingo might've continued to layer more substantive humor like this onto its foundation of weird; as it stands, Season 2 remains a terrific suggestion of where 21st century TV animation can go. Extras are once again slim, with only a new short promoting the equally short-lived spin-off The Xtacles, based around the misadventures of Xander's hapless shock troops, serving as a reward for Frisky Dingo faithful. --Paul Gaita

Customer Reviews:

  • As Expected, Amazing
I've been watching this show since it first started. Season 1 was incredible and season 2 is even better. This is the best show I have ever seen. It's absolutely hilarious.

If you don't like this show, I suggest you start from season 1 episode 1 and watch it all the way through, in order. This is the type of show where you can't just watch a random episode and enjoy it (aka Aqua teen). You have to follow the story.

The extras on the dvd are hilarious. They are build up to the short lived Xtacles show, which I didn't really like.

Also, unfortunately, the company the created Frisky Dingo, 70-30, went under, so there won't be anymore dingo for a while. I believe one of the creators is working on a show for FX right now though, so that might be good.

    Summary: Buy it....more info
  • If you have got to season 2 you'll love this
If you are looking at season 2 you had a rough idea what to expect from season 1. It once again barely makes sense and the story is about as bizzare as they come. I can't help but love this show so if you have no idea what Frisky Dingo is watch season 1 first. (BTW Hi Killfaces Mom)...more info
  • RIP 7030
This was my favorite show on Adult Swim, wish there could have been more seasons. It's too bad 7030 broke up, they were great....more info
  • Hilarious!
This show is completely hilarious. A great buy as well! Not really any extra features, but worth the price! I love the show and I highly recommend both of the Frisky Dingo seasons!...more info
  • Must Have
One of the funniest shows on tv gets even funnier in season 2. If you liked the first season make sure you don't miss out. The plot becomes so delicate and intertwined by the finale that i am not sure how the writers even kept up. You will watch it over and over....more info
This show is so amazing becasue it combines some of the best animation with absolutely hilarious writing. Anyone who enjoys Futurama or Robot Chicken or ATHF would love this show....more info
  • Awesome season, disappointing ending
Great show! If you've never seen it, start with season 1 and give it 3-4 episodes (only 11 minutes each). If you're a fan of South Park, you'll probably be a huge fan of Frisky Dingo. Not the best animation, but the stream-of-consciousness writing and fantastic dialogue are awesome. Boosh!...more info
  • Of course they didn't make more, it was a good show.
And so goes the fate of everything good on tv. They cancel it. Pure comedy gold, and if anyone says otherwise they should go back to hell because they clearly can't comprehend perfection....more info
  • One of my favorite shows of all time...
There are very, very, few shows that I watch multiple times, much less laugh every time I see it. And, Season 2 upped the ante over the fantastic first season simply with the introduction of Wendell. I mean, "he shot himself! ...with my gun somehow." It doesnt get better than this.

I hate to be so over the top with my review, but Frisky Dingo is really that good. Please, please let there be a Season 3!...more info

Season one was great and season two kept it going. If you are looking for funny thn you have found it here. Booooosh and sometimes Kakow...more info
  • more of the greatness
i've never watched a show where every single character made me laugh at one point or another. other than frisky dingo. if you've seen season 1 then you know how good this show is and season 2 continues the snowball of funny into an avalanche of hylarity

highly recomended based on price as well. alot of these seasons of adult swim shows can run ya 20-25 bucks which is kind of a rip off if you ask me when the show is only 15 minute episodes. this being the price it is for the level of genious, you have no excuses not to buy this, stop reading this review and buy it right now. ...more info
