  • Love this game!
So, I've had this game about 2 weeks now - and I totally love it!! I myself am quite out of shape and it's not so hard I can't keep up, but it certainly isn't too easy that I don't get a workout. I'm usually sweating buckets and out of breath within the 1st 15 minutes. Once you go through and do the basic controls, the best workouts are in Advanced Shape Boxing. The exercise portion is ok, but certainly not the reason I bought the game. If you like boxing and need to get in shape - this is the game for you....more info
  • more fun than I thought
I was looking for a more intensive workout than wii fit. I enjoyed the boxing and it was more of a workout than I thought. I haven't gotten bored with it yet but think it might get boring if you're not into boxing. I have been rotating through wii fit, gold's and ea active. Each is a different experience but I find each an enjoyable one in different ways. ...more info
  • slow but...
this game starts off very very slow but after you get into it ..very fun and will make you sweat..i like the punch count and the calarie count..just wish that it woud keep track like the did get my overly slow son moving his feet that is a good thing...i think it is a very good buy..and a great second workout...more info
  • Great Workout!!
It is really amazing how many calories you can burn. The game also come with a free 7 days membership to the Gold GYM. But the game itself make you sweat a lot! The game also features some other exercise like the Wii Fit, (not new to me). I will recommend this game to a friend with my eyes close, the greatest part is that the game has some song of popular music. ...more info
  • lots of fun
I love this game. It gets you moving and when I first started using it my arms were actually sore the next day. It is all about boxing though so if you aren't into that then this game isn't for you. The only minor issue I have with this game is sometimes in the middle of one of those 15 minute workouts I'll acidently press a button on the top of the remote that makes you quit the workout. I wish there was an "are you sure" option since I've done it more than once. Other than that, no complaints. This gets you moving thats for sure....more info
  • Fun Game...Not a great workout
This is a fun game but if you are looking for a heart-pumping workout, I wouldn't purchase this. If you are looking for a light fun workout to supplement your fitness, this would be a good purchase....more info
  • Excellent workout!
I love this game. My only problem is I don't want to stop playing, but I know I will regret it the next day if I play too long!

This is one of the best at home workouts I have ever gotten!...more info
  • Great workout, minor flaws....
This is a great workout game. I really feel the burn almost immediately into the workouts. The only issue I have is that it seems that sometimes the sensor bar doesn't pick up some of the punches thrown. This causes a "miss" penalty at the end of the session. Like I said it's a minor deal, You still get a great workout. I am not too fond of some of the balance board workouts though. They seem touchy and not as smooth as the fit ones i.e. - push -ups, squats, but the sit-up/crunches are awesome !
I love the running, especially the bears that "attack" You -too funny.
All in all I feel this great for people with bad knees, and easy to pick up from the start. It's a great feeling to unlock extra's after a hard session. I definately reccomend this to anyone looking for fun while they work out. I know all to well that the fit sessions can get old fast...hopefully there will be a new set of workouts (disk) to freshen this up. Go out and get this !! ...more info
  • Good Workout
Good cardio workout. Takes a bit of concentration to move through the lessons the first time, but definitely keeps you moving....more info
  • Good workout, but there are some annoying flaws
I've had this for a month now, and I have to say I've really enjoyed myself. I got bored with the Wii Fit within a few weeks; my biggest complaint that other than the Hula Hoop, nothing really gave me a good workout.

Can't say that for this "game." I've worked out every day, and look forward to getting on it first thing in the morning. I do the prepared workout, and every other day will supplement it with some a la carte shape boxing or exercises. I like my trainer, and the little rewards are nice eggs to work toward.

I drip like a sieve, and my muscles are sore. That's a good thing.

I like that you can pick three different levels in the prepared work out (light, regular, hardcore), or just do a la carte if you want more or less.

However (and there's always a however), there are some flaws.

    1) Not everything registers. Be it squats, upper cuts, ducks, or dodges, sometimes you have to REALLY exaggerate your movements to get it to register. It's very frustrating to throw an uppercut and nothing happens, or to throw a punch and it registers a duck simultaneously when you're doing ducking combos.

    2) As noted by others, it doesn't weigh you. Missed opportunity there by Ubisoft.

    3) The English translations on screen ain't such be good done right. ;)

    4) On the sandbag exercise, it's too easy to knock the bags out in 45 seconds. I haven't unlocked all of the elements of the game yet, so I'm hoping there's a "free" mode where you can do the side exercises for as long as you like.

    5) Sometimes it doesn't register the "up" on squats. You have to really "bounce" (again, exaggerating motions) to get it to register, which takes away from the work out intent. I don't want to exaggerate my motions; I just want to work out and get my sweat on.

    6) The "training" mode on the side exercises should be the default, and you unlock the "challenge" mode. Seems silly to challenge someone who hasn't even trained yet.

    7) After a prepared work out routine, my trainer tells me that I really kicked butt (nice encouragement) and that I should try a harder work out next time. Um. You picked the work out, Alex, not me. Why don't YOU try a harder work out next time. Maybe in time it will get more difficult (although I'm not complaining. It's working me out as is!).

I know these sound like a lot of gripes, but they are minor compared to the overall positive impression of this game. It's a good work out, and I'm really enjoying myself. Beats a membership to one of the shape boxing gyms that are popping up all over the place. Seems to be ahead of that trend a bit, and is something you can do at home at your convenience. ...more info
  • Not what I expected
I was under the impression that this would include using the balance board and other cardio exercises. Turns out that it barely uses the balance board and it is all boxing, that should be better explained. I will be giving it away, trading it in or throwing it out withing the next 24 hours...more info
  • A pretty good game, but not perfect
I bought this game about a week ago. I agree with others that they should be more direct that this is mostly a boxing game. I happen to love boxing which is why I got it. You can get a really good workout with this game. The wii sensors arent perfect and i get a little frustrated when it doesnt register my ducking movements because I duck too quickly. You also have to be sure to make kind of exaggerated movements on the hooks or else it doesnt always register. you cant utilize the balance board with the boxing portion of the game. It has some other exercises that use the board, but they arent that great and I havent done them much. Overall I highly recommend this game if you enjoy cardio boxing and dont mind that you really arent going to use the balance board much....more info
  • Great Workout!
If your looking for a good sweat this game is it! This game will have you working up a sweat fairly quick, while working out your arms and legs. Mostly it works out your arms but when you throw in the defense moves your legs will feel it trust me!
I've had this game for 5 days now and have only been able to workout with it three times because it's left me so sore afterwards. Yesterday I did the beginner exercise that worked on the defence ducks and today I can't hardly walk and climbing stairs is killing me!
I love this game though it leaves me feeling exhausted and like i just got done with a really good workout. Like i feel when i leave the Gym. Paired with my Wii Fit i think this is going to be a very good buy!...more info

  • Great Cardio
I'm a 45 yr old female and I love this game. I got Wii Fit about 2 weeks ago and while I like the strength training, yoga, and balance games, I didn't even breathe hard doing the aerobics. Not a problem with now that I have this game. I'm going to try alternating one day doing the Wii Fit strength training with a 1/2 hr to 45 min of Cardio Boxing and the next day doing the My Fitness Coach workout for about an hour. I do the Wii Yoga almost every night too. Hopefully this will provide variety and keep my body guessing.

Like other reviewers have said, if you like boxing this game is great. If you don't, you probably want to stick with My Fitness Coach until EA's game comes out next month....more info
  • Stick to Wii Fit Rhythm Boxing
I bought this game based on the reviews that said this was a good boxing game. As someone with some boxing training, (yes, I'm old enough to remember when boxing was a high school varsity sport.) I disagree. The back and forth bob of you avatar is distracting and unnecessary. Nothing in this game provides for proper boxing footwork. The Expert level Rhythm boxing in Wii Fit is much better than this. A full rewrite of this software to incorporate the balance board and develop some real footwork is needed before this is anything more than an average game and workout. As it is you might just want to refer to it as DDR for your arms. ...more info
  • Fun and a real workout!
This is an awesome game that really keeps me sweating. It is not boring at all. It is really all cardio boxing. It also helps my form with the boxing. Would definitely recommend it to anybody who wants to get moving with the wii....more info
  • Best Wii Fitness Game!
I already owned the Wii Fit which I used for about a month and has been sitting there since, I wanted something that was more active so I decided to buy this game since it was so cheap and I have to say I love it. Its really effective and fun I can feel the results since I have been sore all week but I am going to keep on doing it because its so much fun....more info
  • Good workout if you like boxing
I got this game for a Mother's Day gift from my family. It is not a bad work out game. It is a very good cardio workout. However, it is only boxing techniques used. I wish there was a little more variety. But if you are using it with the other Wii fitness titles it can add to a decent rotation....more info
  • Great little workout for the Wii!
I workout on a daily basis and this game helped shake up my routine with some fun cardio boxing. I've been playing this game about three weeks daily. I have seen a change in my upperbody.I'm a little smaller than before I started playing thats for sure!

Great deal for $19.99. I would recommend this game for purchase.

  • I'm Lovin' It!
It arrived yesterday and I couldn't wait to use it. I find the Wii Fit boxing a little boring and this certainly offered more. This was exactly what I needed since I was looking for another source of Cardio workout and it's nice to be able to change up from doing the standard DVD exercise routines. I did 1 hour yesterday and would have done more if I didn't have other things that needed to be done. I expect I'll get plenty of use out of this game and you can't beat the $19.99 price. Great buy!...more info
  • Great workout. You will sweat!
I bought the My fitness Coach 3 months ago and it was great at first until I got bored with it. I was sick of jumping all the time and pretty much the same workout except when Maya (the fitness coach) gives you a new one. I then bought the Cardio Golds Gym Boxing and I must say it's way BETTER than the fitness coach. ...more info
  • Should Just Call it Wii Boxing
I LOVE THIS GAME! If you like the Wii Fit boxing then you will love Gold's Gym Cardio Workout. It literally leaves me dripping after about 10 minutes. Be prepared to feel the burn the first couple of days because I feel like it works muscles that you typically don't use if you've never boxed before.

The only down fall is that sometimes the sensor bar doesn't pick up a punch or two that you throw and although it's frusterating that you aren't "beating" the game, at least you're doing the actual punch/excersise even if they don't mark it.

    OVERALL = AWESOME!...more info
  • Amazing
This product may only be boxing, but it manages to work every muscle in your body. In fact the muscle that seem the least sore for me the next day were my arms. I could definitely feel it in my back and legs. The workouts are fun and they make you sweat. The game also lets you earn things, which makes it even more engaging. The workout are set at different lengths so you can do as much or as little as you would like. This is a great game for getting in shape and having fun while doing so....more info
  • Fun game, but too easy
I have really enjoyed this game, but I have only played it for a few weeks and have already completed all of the levels. I would love for Ubisoft to come out with an advanced version of this game with more intense workouts and a higher level of difficulty.

The best activity in the game is the Roadwork exercise.

  • Great game
I really love this game, I like the fact that it uses two WII remotes instead of the remote/nunchuck, so you don't have to have them connected. It is a good workout and fun....more info
  • A GREAT Addition to Your Wii Workout!
I LOVE my Wii Fit, but was getting a little bored with my regular workouts. My favorite cardio workout is the Wii Boxing, so when I saw Gold Gym Cardio Workout, I had to try it.
My husband and my daughter gave this to me as a gift and I LOVE it. I get to exercise at the beach! Boxing is a great workout out and this program does a great job walking you through each step!...more info
  • its cool

This is a great workout, and its so fun to do that you barely realize you are exercising! That is, until you feel it in your muscles the next day! I highly reccommend it! ...more info

  • Lynn in Pittsburgh
After reading reviews on this game, I knew it was going to be mostly boxing so I was not disappointed. This game gives you a very good workout but it is fun and does not really feel like you are working out. You get to have fun and get into better shape at the same time.

As usual, my order was completed without a problem through I received it in a timely manner without any damage and it works great....more info
  • great workout
I got this a couple of weeks ago. It's a great workout. The one thing i didn't realize is that it was a boxing workout, but I love it. Gets me sweating and breathing hard. The first thing to know is you have to go through the basic steps first before you unlock the workouts, but once you do that you are really set to go. I've only done the boxing part not the other exercises, I have a wii fit and use that also. since getting the boxing one i have lost another 5 bounds total of 16 pounds with the wii fit. I love how it tells you the approx. caleries burned in the workouts....more info
  • The best for scuplting arms
This game provides an excellent cardio workout... some of the boxing moves are not exactly the same as if you were actually boxing but the general idea is the same.. My arms are developing very good definition after a short time using the game. The ability to change the music and scenary helps with the boredom factor that sometimes happens when you play a game every day. I would recommend this game....more info
  • You will feel it
If you like shadow boxing, you will love this. I really just do shape boxing once a week. You will get a goood sweat plus help you with reflex and coordination. I would not use this as my only source of activity but a once a week diversion. Just keep in mind you will be sore from using different muscles in different ways....more info
  • A Great Workout
The "Gold's Gym Cardio Workout" gets your heartrate up. There are many programs to choose from that vary in length of time. I would recommend this workout to those looking for a "realistic" boxing program. I've tried both the Wii and Wii Fit boxing workouts and they don't compare to the "Gold's Gym" version. ...more info
  • Great Cardio Boxing Game
Great Cardio Boxing. Way better then what you get with the Wii Fit. I definitely work up a sweat. You also have to focus on your technique, or you won't get credit for the move. Great Work-Out. I wish they used the balance board more though....more info
  • Good cardio workout for the asking price
Cardio boxing/rhythm game, or, punch to the beat, with profile slots for up to 8 people. Pick from Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced & Special routines that typically come with two 7-10 minute intervals with a rest period in-between. You can do as many routines as you can keep up with and your statistics are tracked. Aside from boxing, you can also optionally use the Wii Balance Board for pushups, lower-back & stomach exercise and punch dodging. Punches/moves include: jab, cross, hook, uppercut (head & body), duck & weave left/right, blocking, fwd/back/left/right stepping. More advanced routines string move of these moves together.

My opinion: you get out of it what you put into it. I play it for the exercise and not as a "game". It is possible to cheat on exercises but you're only hurting your own progress. I'm sweating up a storm and feel my shoulders tightening up after 1 month.

Wii Controls: 2 Wiimotes are recommended. It has the typical responsiveness of other Wii games: you might get away with throwing a right cross when a right uppercut was called for. Some punches that you definitely threw are not acknowledged at all. This is only a problem in that you won't get as many "points" and "gold" at the end. I'd say I'm getting between 90-95% of my punches registered.

Graphics: other Wii games are better but they get the job done. Appearance is like Japanese anime characters made over for a North American audience.

Sound: each registered punch makes some sound out of the Wiimote speaker. Music tracks are almost completely forgettable. How many times can you listen to another remake of "Eye of the Tiger"?

Longevity: I want to play each day, since I can change up the routine as I see fit.

$$$ Value: excellent. Thirty dollars for a guided workout in my own home after work.

Other bits: Sometimes the voiceover gets the punches wrong. It might say "Rught Uppercut" (yes, it's spelled that way) and it really wants a right hook. Sometimes the beat of the music isn't in sync with the punch flow and you miss. Probably the most annoying thing for me is that I throw the punch but it doesn't register; that throws me off for the next couple of punches but the way I see it, I still threw the punch so who cares. You can use "gold" that you earn to buy different outfits for your onscreen character, male or female. You can also change the outfits on your instructors, 2 male and 4 female. Bob's my favorite - the overly-pumped-up muscleman who's hands must be so tough that he doesn't have to wear gloves or wraps.

My bottom line: can be a sweaty workout in your own home at a fair price. After 1 month + a good diet, I'm definitely seeing results and want to go at it every day....more info
  • Awesome
This is a very good game and a very good workout. I had been using the Wii Fit (and still do), but this is a lot better. I like the trainer better and the way the workout is structured....more info
  • Great wirkout+lots of fun!
I get bored easily. Wii fit entertained me and kept me motivated fir a short time. soon it wasn't a good workout anymore and I had no desire to use it. My favorite part was the boxing... which is what this game is-pretty much all boxing and I am thrilled!
It is challenging-as long as you want it to be. It is fun, giving you little gifts to work toward, and keeps me coming back for more. I sweat and I am sore afterward and I love it.
same as everyone else- Some punches/dodges don't register. This is ammoying to me because the challenge of getting a high percentage also keeps me in the game.
Don't bother with the balance bored. it almost seems like adding activities for it was an afterthought. It doesn't seem to sync very well either.
I play in advanced mode and when I asked for a prepared workout it gave me beginner level. Not very intuitive.
Overall, definitely worth it if you're looking for a good workout that is also fun. And if you like boxing-because that's what you get. ...more info
